Chapter 88

Angus MacGyver found himself working undercover at Baltar Research and Development. He discovered firm was decades ahead in robotics and computers that rivaled what he witnessed in 2022. He grew wary of the firm and it's intentions as he worked as a scientist in robotic development.

Colonel Steve Austin donned his Air Force uniform once more as he was to be sent in to witness the robotic program of the research firm. Jamie Somers also donned a Air Force uniform for her cover was to be Steve's secretary. Apollo was give an dress blue Air Force uniform as well, with the rank of Captain and the name of John Adama for his cover as he accompanied Steve and Jamie to the demonstration located in a secret location in the desert.

Steve had Apollo drive the black government owned Cadillac to the location. Upon parking where instructed the trio emerged from the vehicle, all in blue uniforms and looking very professional. Apollo let Steve lead as his job was to identify Baltar.

MacGyver sat at the table that housed a very advanced computer system that was wirelessly connected to a robotic human form that stood before them on the dirt. He acted as if he did not know or recognize Steve and his companions.

Count Baltar emerged from a command trailer on the site. He was an older man with brown hair that was beginning to gray. His face was round and he had bushy eyebrows and brown eyes. He gleamed at his accomplishment as he knew Earth was his oyster for the taking as long as The Galactica never found the allusive planet and he even changed his title to Lord Baltar to give a fake royal background. He approached Colonel Austin while sporting a brown business suit and matching shoes.

"Colonel Austin!" he greeted with a outreached hand. He then spied Apollo and his smile melted. He took a breath wondering if the Galactica managed to find Earth after all.

Steve shook his hand, "Lord Baltar. It's my pleasure." He further introduced, "My research team, Captain Jamie Somers who is also my personal secretary and our tech expert Captain John Adama."

Apollo recognized Baltar immediate but played dumb. His hair was cut shorter and he figured if he presented himself slightly different he could pass off as an earthling. He faked a bit of a southern accent as he spoke. "Lord Baltar. Interesting little set up ya got going here." he spoke low and slow.

The fake accent fooled Baltar and he figured the Captain was just another human from earth. He gave a way smile, "Yes, it's quite a set up. Where are you from, Captain?"

"Texas." he excused. He knew all the stats and cities as he had been on Earth for two years.

"Ah, Texas." he nodded figuring the man could not be Apollo.

Apollo continued the fake accent, "Everything's bigger in Texas." He wanted to shoot Baltar dead on the spot but understood he had to keep his cover.

Steve stated, "The Air Force is very interested in what you have to show us."

"Right this way." Baltar motioned.

They followed over to the control table that MacGyver manned.

Baltar gave the order, "Let's give the Air Force a little demonstration."

The robot before them started to move about. It was quick and smooth. Steve cocked an eyebrow for he never seen such advanced robotics before. The shell of the robot was shaped more like a upside down pare with robotic skeleton legs and arms. The dome of the body housed a red light that scanned back and forth much like the strobe in the nose of KITT. It was a menacing sight to the onlooker.

Baltar stated, "This is the Baltar 3000 model. It can run sixty miles per hour. Jump 100 feet and can be armed. This machine can replace any foot solider."

Steve stated, "That's impressive. How does it communicate?" He was rather alarmed by the advanced robotics but had to pretend to be interesting in buying the machine for the military.

"Wirelessly using radio signals." he reported. "It connects to a super computer that has the ability to control thousand of units at a time."

"Super computer?" Steve asked.

Baltar smirked, "Company trade secret." He wasn't about to give out too much information on the Artificial Intelligence that controlled the robot army.

Steve traded glances with Jamie as both realized the robots were on par with their bionics capabilities and could possibly out perform both of them. He looked to Apollo who studied the new robots as he understood Baltar was employing Clyon technology.

Baltar requested, "Would the Air Force be interested in a lease agreement."

Steve countered, "We would be interested in a purchase. Just need to the blue prints and specs for the approval process."

He gave a smirk, "That is a trade secret, Colonel. My sentinels are only available for lease."

"I will still need to see more details about the robots and the operations." Steven told him.

"But of course." Baltar replied. "I'll have the lease agreement drawn up." he assured. He had no intention of actually selling the advanced technology to the military for he wanted to remain in complete control of the Cylon tech.

Next Day

Sam woke feeling disappointed as she had yet to establish contact with the battlestar Pegasus. She worried they were running out of time as the Galactica neared the solar system. Her worries were only worsened as she had to return to high school to track down the VHS tapes of Airwolf. Dressed like an average teen from the 80's with stone washed jeans, a white blouse and a matching denim jacket she returned to school ready to tackle her latest mistake.

As Sam and Caitlin entered the school they noticed they received more attention than usual as students mingled and pointed towards the pair. Sam looked to Caitlin and stated, "I think that video went viral."

Caitlin, who also sported the fashionable stone washed denim assured, "It can't go viral like in your time. They have to pass the physical tape around."

Sam nodded and miffed, "I think they have been passing it around faster than weed."

"We can and will contain this." Caitlin assured. "I'll see you at lunch. Just get to class." She headed in the other direction.

Sam started towards class when Ali Mills called, "Sam!" She stopped as Ali jogged up to her. She handed her a VHS tape. "I saw this last night. It's one my dad had. I think you should have it."

"Thanks for that." she smiled pleased to have the third tape that she knew of in her possession.

Ali stated, "You really fly an attack helicopter?"

She nodded.

"I showed it to my boyfriend, Daniel. He showed it to his mom and he wanted to show it to Mr. Miyagi. I thought I should give it to you instead." she stated a bit worried. "Everyone is talking about that tape. It all over!"

"I figured it would." she told her.

Ali added, "There's more. That tape said Airwolf was top secret back in the 80's. It's kind of weird. The copyright is 2019 on the tape. Rumors are flying that you time traveled here and Airwolf is the time machine."

"Airwolf is not a time machine." she simply replied. "It's just a vehicle. Now Back to the Future comes out this year and that has a time machine in it. A Delorean. Coolest time machine ever." she teased Ali.

"Back to the Future?" she cocked her head befuddled.

As the pair walked the geek of the school, Anthony called, "Sam! Hey Sam!"

She looked over and spied the blonde haired, blue eyed boy with braces sporting jeans and a yellow polo shirt. He approached with two other geeks in tow. "Hey Sam! I saw that tape of Airwolf. Can we see Airwolf?"

"No," she shook her head annoyed.

"Why not? Is it still top secret?" he grinned.

"Yes! Shut up about it." she instructed.

"Please!" he begged.

Johnny Lawrence came to her rescue as he began to have doubts about what he had done. He never expected Kreese to make copies of the tapes and distribute them. He huffed at Anthony, "Get out of here, geek!"

Anthony winced, "I'm leaving. But if you need any help with Airwolf let me know, Sam. I'm real good at computers."

"I think we got it covered." she miffed.

Johnny watched as Anthony left in a hurry. He then offered, "If you want I can walk you to class, Sam."

"I'll be fine." she told him. She suspected he too wanted to see Airwolf.

Ali had the same suspicion, "She's not going to let you see the helicopter."

Johnny stated, "I know that. It's top secret. I want to see how she's traveling through time." he confessed.

Ali rolled her eyes annoyed, "That rumor is so stupid, Johnny."

Sam smirked at Johnny, "I have a time machine made out of a Delorean."

"You do?" he cocked his head.

She simply looked at him and shrugged without saying a word.

"Delorean?" he asked wondering if it were true.

She indulged, "It has to reach 88 miles per hour while getting hit by lightning to work."

He paused and thought about the claim. "It does?" he asked bewildered.

Daniel LaRusso spied Johnny with Ali and Sam. He assumed Johnny was harassing the two girls and came to their rescue. He walked straight over and stated, "Don't you have to get to class, Johnny!"

"LaRusso." he rolled his eyes. "What do you want?"

He told him, "I saw the Airwolf tape too. Question is, what do you want?"

He smirked, "Apparently…the same thing as you. Only reason I have not beaten your ass is because of the competition."

Sam looked at the pair, "What kind of weird love-hate relationship do you two got going?"

The question took both boys by surprise.

Johnny became defensive, "What?"

"You two act like the Odd Couple." she laughed. She labeled them, "Let's see, Daniel is Felix and Johnny is Oscar."

The two boys traded glances and then looked to Sam as Ali started to laugh.

Ali agreed, "You are so right, Sam. They are the Odd Couple. Johnny is Oscar and Daniel is Felix. That's perfect."

Johnny grew upset. He stated rather sad, "See ya around, Ali. Sam…" he then threw a dirty look at Daniel and sneered, "LaRusso."

Daniel stood his ground and just stared back at him as he left. Daniel then offered, "You want me to walk you to class, Sam? You seem to be getting slammed by all this attention."

Ali looked at Sam an agreed, "Daniel can walk you if you want."

"Sure," she agreed.

Ali smiled, "See you at lunch." She gave Daniel a half hug and then went to class.

Sam found herself walking beside the teenage version of the local car dealer. She asked, "You like cars?" she smiled to herself knowing his business.

"Man, I love cars!" he cheered. "You should see Mr. Miyagi's collection. He's got all these classic cars."

"Who?" she asked.

"He's my sensei; my karate teacher." he explained. "You would like him. Hey, maybe you he could show you a few moves to keep Johnny at bay." he suggested.

She replied, "I took judo and I know hand-to-hand combat. My dad taught me. He was in Nam."

"Right," he nodded. "He was the old guy on the tape."

She chuckled, "Your best customer."

He told her, "Your parents seem really cool. Bit older but cool. Both pilots, huh?"

She nodded, "I come from a family of pilots." She changed the subject, "I love classic cars though."

"I'll introduce you to Mr. Miyagi." he assured as he found a friend who shared his passion for cars.
