My War
My daddy went to war today
In his boots he marched away
With all the other men in line
We won't see for such a time
My mother cries and asks 'lord why?'
She doesn't want my dad to die
Soldiers come and soldiers go
But still my daddy is not home
People tell me I'm so brave
As we stand around my father's grave
I try my best not to cry
But no one wants their dad to die
They tell me he died a heroes death
In a gas attack he held his breath
And gave his mask to a friend
They lie together cold and white
Why did my daddy have to fight?
