Mephiles could hear footsteps coming down the stairs. The door swung open "Hello…" said a gray wolf, she had black tipping her ears, tail and the end of her hair, which was almost touching the floor. She had some black pj's on that read 'Strong Fierce Fluffy' then had a little wolf holding a heart on it, he looked at her eyes, one black one blue. Mephiles set his attention on a blue stone on her chest. It was a very dull shade of blue.
"...Uh...hello..." He finally answered " I've never seen you around before, are you like Shadow's twin or somethin'… " she said with a yawn "No...I'm not related to Shadow...you see...your sister gave me this key and-" in the middle of his sentence, she fell. Mephiles grabbed her so she didn't hit the ground and get hurt. "Hello? Are you okay?" he looked at her, she was breathing intensely and was sweating. He brought her inside her house and closed the door, Mephiles laid her on the couch and felt her head, she was burning up. He ran into her kitchen, wet a piece of cloth, ran back into her living room and put the cloth on her head. Mephiles then walked upstairs and found her room.
He got her blanket and pillow and took it down stairs. He carefully lifted her head up and place the pillow under her head and set it back down, he then threw the blanket over her frail-looking body and sat on the chair next to her "...Why am I doing this?" he asked himself, after awhile of thinking, he fell asleep. A knock on the door awoke him. It was dark outside. He looked back on the couch, the girl was still there, but the covers had fallen off her, he threw them back on and saw her faintly smile and squirm under the blanket. Mephiles walked over to the door, remembering the knock that woke him.
He opened it, Sonic was there. He looked at Mephiles "...Is there something I can get you?" Mephiles asked, breaking the silence "Why are YOU here?" Sonic said with an angered tone "...nothing..." Sonic peeked into the house and saw the wolf girl's tail hanging off the edge of the couch, he jumped at Mephiles and pinned him on the ground" WHAT DID YOU DO TO NANAHA!" he yelled ,Mephiles pushes him off "Calm down! She's fine! She just fainted and I was taking care of her...I think she's very sick..." he said looking at the couch to see if she had woken up.
Sonic broke out laughing "You! Taking care of someone!" Mephiles threw him a serious gaze, Sonic stopped laughing "Oh...you're not joking..." he got up and walked over to Mephiles "...Just don't tell anyone, okay?" Mephiles asked Sonic "Okay, but why are you taking care of her?" "I...don't know...so what did you want?" Mephiles asked looking back at Sonic "well, I was the only one who knew she was sick, so I started to check on her now and then to see if she needed anything" Sonic explained
"What was her name again?" Mephiles asked "Oh, ya askin'?" "no reason" Mephiles grabbed the cloth and walked back into the kitchen to re-wet it, he came back and felt her forehead, she didn't feel as hot as before but she was still very warm. He placed the cloth back onto her head. "Wow, I have never seen you like this before..." Sonic said surprise on how gentle Mephiles was being "Well...she seems like a nice girl and what if I just wanted to help her feel better?" he said, hiding the fact he was blushing a little bit.
'Nanaha…such a beautiful name…what…what is this feeling…? It's odd but…pleasant…I..I like it' Mephiles thought to himself. " Meph, what are ya doin'?" Sonic asked breaking Mephiles' chain of thought "N-nothing…I just…spaced out for a minute…" They soon heard mumbling noises coming from the couch and saw Nanaha sitting up. She looked over at Sonic "H-hello Sonic…" she said in a weak voice "Hey Nanaha…feelin' any better?" she slowly shook her head "Maybe a bath will help…" Mephiles suggested, Nanaha turned to him "W-who are you…again?" he froze up but answered her "M-Mephiles…Mephiles the Dark" Nanaha gave him a faint smile "O-okay Mephiles…a bath sounds nice…will you carry me upstairs…?" She held her arms open, waiting to be picked up. Mephiles look at Sonic, who whispered " Go ahead" and gave a cocky smile.
Mephiles carefully picked Nanaha up bridal style and walked over to the stairs. When they made it up to the bathroom, he carefully put her down and started to run the water "How does this feel…" he asked. She put her hand under the running water "I-it feels fine but a little warmer…" he looked at her "but if it's any hotter…there will be no cold water on…" "T-that's how I like my baths…" she gave a faint smile, he nodded slowly and turned the cold water off. "C-can you undress yourself or do I…." "No,I got it" he walked out the room and closed the door.
He walked downstairs and saw Sonic sitting on one of the chairs "Sonic….tell me about her…" Mephiles faintly said "Who…Nanaha?" he nodded "Okay" Mephiles sat on a chair next to Sonic as he began "She was cloned from Yuki's we also made, but didn't survive, she was the only one…" Mephiles looked at Sonic "So…she was a creation…made by man…" he nodded "They wanted to see how Mobian DNA would react to another species' DNA" "she's another species?" "She has Hedgehog DNA mixed with Werewolf DNA,but she's more Werewolf than Hedgehog…" Mephiles sat back in his chair, going over this new information.
Mephiles and Sonic continued to talk more, when the both heard Nanaha from upstarts "M-Mephiles…." His ears twitched hearing her faint cry for him, Sonic laughed and said "She wants you, Meph" Mephiles got up and walked to the top of the stairs, where she was standing. "Yes?" he asked her " C-can you carry me back downstairs…" she asked. Mephiles sighed "Come on" he opened his arms and Nanaha fell into them, smiling. As they walked downstairs, Nanaha asked him "C-can you cook…" Mephiles slowly nodded "I-if it's not much of a problem…c-can you make me some chicken soup…I-I've been living two weeks with Sonic bad cooking…a-and I think it makes me feel worse…" Mephiles got to bottom of the stairs and broke out laughing saying "SONIC! No wonder this girl's sick! She's been eating your slop!" Sonic turned to them, appalled "Hey! You said it was delicious!" she hid her face in Mephiles' chest fur " I-I lied…." Mephiles laughed more as the all walked into the kitchen.
Me: This one is a little longer than Chapter 1…
Nanaha: that means you're working harder!
