Story 44
Leviamon Crossing
For once, Leviamon felt something other than his sin. Though, that was ignoring the super long party Daemon had in response to the world not ending. Fun as that was, perhaps there was a better way to actually celebrate still having a world to exist in. But that was beyond the point. Right now, he needed to get somewhere that wasn't he-
"Hey asshole! Get off of the highway!" someone announced, but Leviamon wasn't particularly paying attention to them. No, such insignificant insects had no right to speak down to him. Let alone order him to stand down. There was only one fate for people like this - his jaws. Simple as that.
Rostrum!
Opening his jaw up, Leviamon bit down into his target - a car. Making short work of the car, he took the time to fling out the pieces into the nearby forest. If that idiot survived, then that was good enough for him. If he hadn't, then the problem was solved. It was a win-win either way in his book. Even as the demon lord digimon got a feeling that someone else was less than thrilled with his actions at that moment.
"You can come out, BelleStarmon." Leviamon muttered and watched a figure make their way out of the forest. A woman, their expression alone told Leviamon all he needed to know here. Dressed in zip-up leather boots extending up her entire legs, it made the leather bra an interesting choice. Though, the demon lord digimon thought it would be better to have one that actually fit your entire bust and not most of it. Especially with those flimsy leather straps constituting a belt. The shawl was a nice touch, but didn't provide anything close to protecting her relatively exposed body. Which was exactly why she wore a spiky dark blue half mask. Obscuring the upper half of her features, that still left yellow eyes and light blonde hair on full display for anyone lucky enough (or unlucky enough) to see her.
"Could you at least try not to cause trouble?" BelleStarmon announced and raised her revolvers up. Pointed right in Leviamon's direction, the demon lord digimon rolled his eyes. Why did Lilithmon have to send her of all digimon to act as his conscience? He could very easily make decisions that didn't blow up in his face immediately after. So what if she was the oldest of the demon lord digimon? She spent far too much stepping into her fellow lord's territories. An unnecessary evil Leviamon had ever seen, that didn't stop him from feeling a touch jealous. What he would give to have that kind of reputation to act like that. But he pushed that thought to the back.
"If they didn't want me to cause trouble, then they shouldn't have dropped me right in the middle of a highway!" Leviamon announced and waved his tails about. Nowhere close to BelleStarmon, it did little in the way of getting her to go away. If anything, that gesture made her want to get even closer to the demon lord digimon. But that would just put her at risk of getting chomped in half by Leviamon's jaw. No, she would need to play this smart and not
"That is still not a reason to fling that guy's car off the highway." BelleStarmon countered and did her best to look behind Leviamon. They could've had this conversation damn near anywhere else, but Leviamon couldn't move his stupid ass out of the road. No wonder mom sent her to help. Or at least, coerce him to actually move somewhere else. Whichever came first before she peppered his ass with Fly Bullet.
"I still say it very much is. But that can't be the on-" Leviamon announced, only to be cut off by a shot from BelleStarmon's guns. Snarling at his companion, he could already hear the sound of car honking. Not even looking in the direction of the vehicles, the demon lord digimon searched for a way forward. Afterwards, he could scold BelleStarmon for doing such an act. Now he would have to explain the gunshot wound he now sported. They would likely have quite a bit on their plate, even without adding him to the mix. Better yet, why did he need to come down here in the first place? Perhaps he liked the place that he had been? Whoever was behind this didn't even think about that, did they? No, they were too busy dropping down digimon all willy-nilly that something like that just completely fell by the wayside. Typical higher powers. Always drinking and partying like that was somehow the only thing that mattered here. Kind of like what happened with Daemon. But that also meant they had the power to do whatever the heck they wanted too. But he pushed that thought out and carefully pushed that thought out. Served as the perfect cue to slowly walk forward. If his memory was right, he had just a couple more miles to go. But with the possibility of cars and other vehicles heading both ways, this was going to become an exercise in tedium. BelleStarmon being there wasn't going to help matters either. The least she could do was tell him
"My reasons are none of your business." BelleStarmon countered and debated firing off another round. Nice as it would feel, she decided not to do that. At least, if Leviamon decided to behave and actually get off this road. "I have a place to be and you getting off of this highway is part of that. Do I make myself clear?"
Leviamon rolled his eyes and inched slightly forward. Not even close to the goal, it did get a reaction out of BelleStarmon. Which was the only thing that mattered here in his mind. Beyond actually getting back to his partner. That was always the number one goal. Part of the demon lord digimon did wonder if his partner would believe him. He had seen quite a number of things but had forgotten just by the sheer nature of this job. How the heck did his predecessor accomplish it? Probably by being a drama queen. Or was it a drama king? It had been so long since Leviamon had seen them that he couldn't say with that much certainty. Better yet, any memory of even why they thought he was the right choice had slipped his mind. Or worse, had been washed away by some outside matter. Perhaps his past self somehow knew better and he was living in ignorance of something incredibly obvious? Or worse, that past self would be in a better place to deal with these burdens than he was now. But dwelling on what could have been and wanting to be there would do little good for his mental state. Quite a number of his followers had gotten bad news and left his service for one reason or another. Couldn't be helped, but didn't make recruiting any easier. Made it harder in every sense of the word. Not that he and the demon lord digimon wouldn't admit it, of course. Had to maintain the image they had cultivated over the years. If it turned out that the true power of the organization was with Lilithmon and not someone like Lucemon, they would likely be treated as laughingstocks. Leviamon would much rather prefer to be the one laughing rather than laughed at here.
"Yes, mother." Leviamon joked and was met with a kick to the side. Swinging his tail in the general direction that he thought BelleStarmon was standing at, he connected with nothing but air. That little shit. The least she could do was respond with a sarcastic remark. Not kick him while he was already down. No, that was asking too much from Lilithmon's spoiled brat. Most favorite of all her 'employees', he didn't understand why. They weren't even a true digimon. More of a pathetic attempt at a hybrid that didn't even work properly. But that was typical of dark ocean mad science. If it worked, it was genius. But when it failed, then there was fire all about and bodies began raining down. Though, that would also imply that they somehow knew why it rained corpses. No one did. Not even Daemon. Which was odd, since he was the landowner and the one responsible for most of their ground troops. But that didn't matter. No, getting out of this place. Though,it would help if he had more encouragement that wasn't BelleStarmon here. Yes, a car horn or maybe something thrown would work better here. Asking too much right about now.
"Say that again and I'll litter your hide with bullets." BelleStarmon announced and Leviamon craned his neck to meet her once more. Letting out a sigh, he felt something rub against his tail. Swinging that part of his body about, he still managed to miss whatever it was. Either his target was far smaller than he initially thought, or they were just messing with him. Whatever it was, it was awfully frustrating. The last thing he needed was someone fucking with him at a time like this.
Duo Cauda!
Spinning around, Leviamon caught sight of what had touched him - a toy airplane. Blasting it with a torrent of water, the demon lord digimon watched it fly off elsewhere. Did they really need to mock his situation any further? He was actually making progress. That should be more than enough. No, they just have to mock him further for his slow response to this situation. Times like this would make it amazing for Thomas to swoop in and rescue him out of this place. But he saw no hide or tail of his digidestined. That was asking too much from life right about now. No, Leviamon would need to work for it. However he was supposed to accomplish that in this cramped area. He would ask BelleStarmon for ideas, but that was a recipe for getting shot by her. One bullet hole was bad enough. Two weren't quite as easy to explain away without any additional questions being asked in turn. Questions that required knowing classified information on top of information that Leviamon couldn't give out in good conscience. At least not without the Daemon Corps down his throat. That was all stuff to figure out when he found Thomas. But since he hadn't, he could instead fixate on other things. Things like where the best point to get off was. There had to be an intersection that he could turn off at soon. If not, then it would be necessary to improvise. Perhaps a trip through the woods was in order. As long as it didn't involve anyone trying to shoot him. Especially not the guy he knocked in there earlier. If their car had been torn about by the trees, they could easily roll through and right over him. On top of being uncool, it was absolutely painful. Leviamon assumed that it would be and was in no mood to test that theory.
"Get off the road or I'll do it myself!" a driver announced and the sound of a car horn echoed about the area. Leviamon rolled his eyes. Tempted as it would be to blast them as well, it wouldn't do any good. Especially with many more horns joining for good measure.
"Then do it then." Leviamon announced and moved further down the highway. With it, came more honking and the sound of tires moving. There had to be a way for them to turn around. Some of them had to have been willing to just turn around and try somewhere el-
Leviamon didn't get to finish his thought. Mostly because a car decided to drive right over him. Sent flying, he didn't even see where the car went. Not that he really cared. Especially as a second car tried to pull off the same thing as the first.
Fly Bullet!
Catching just a glimpse, Leviamon heard the shots ring out. BelleStarmon flew right past him, heeled boot stretched out to slam into the vehicle. Connecting with relative ease, the vehicle went flying.
"You owe me one." BelleStarmon muttered and Leviamon reluctantly nodded. Much as the demon lord digimon preferred to not have favors on the table (far too messy for his position), there wasn't much that he could do right now without BelleStarmon's intervention.
"Deal." he muttered and picked up his pace. Couldn't be that much until they reached a place for him to get off this street. Maybe find a neighborhood to lay low for a couple minutes, maybe even an hour. If he was really lucky, Thomas would show up with something to make up for all that has happened. Okay, that last part was probably a stretch here. It would likely be him hunting down his digidestined. What destiny that entailed, didn't really matter to Leviamon. He was a demon lord digimon after all. Trouble would come his way regardless. Just had to show them he was still capable. Nothing on the level of some of the other demon lords, but more than enough to take on most mega digimon and live to tell the tale. A fact that was bound to make lesser digimon jealous. As they should be in the face of the embodiment of envy. They should be wishing that they were standing in his place. Dreaming of the day that they would attempt to overthrow his rule. Plotting their way up the ladder of command intelligence until only he remained. On second thought, perhaps not that far. Maybe once he had gotten a chance to recuperate and wounds were all healed. Then he could accept challengers for his title. Yes, that sounded a heck of a lot more feasible. Whether or not he could actually put that plan into place remained to be seen. Right now, just finding a place to actually get off the road was Leviamon's main focus.
"There looks to be a street wide enough for you too to get off this place up ahead." BelleStarmon announced and Leviamon nodded to the best of his abilities. Staring ahead, he could make out the turn-off in question. By no means the best place to do this, it was still better than nothing. Heading in, the demon lord digimon took the opportunity to stare at all the cars that he had managed to back up in the process. Quite a long line, it didn't quite feel satisfying to him. But that could be chalked up to all the pain he had been treated too by these people. They were allowed away for now, but they would dread the day that their paths crossed. Leviamon knew it. When that time came, he would savor that moment. Pushing that thought to the back corner of his mind, Leviamon focused on BelleStarmon.
"Where exactly are you planning on heading too?" Leviamon announced and got a sigh from his companion. Of course BelleStarmon was going to dodge the question. Even when she was just a little salamon, the signs were very much there. Especially when her stash of stolen food was found.
"Home." BelleStarmon muttered and dug into her shawl. Out came a doll with long pink hair. Dressed in a hot pink top with a black spaghetti strap dress over it, a set of red heels hung to her feet. A set of red eyes stared out, two long pink twin tails reached down to her feet. For now, she slipped the doll into her makeshift belt. Then it's right back to Leviamon. "There's a job that needs to be done. It's likely I won't see you or any of the other lords for a while. So do take care of yourself? Lilithmon does worry, so don't give her anything more that she needs to deal with."
Leviamon rolled his eyes. Leave it to Lilithmon to have ulterior motives with sending
"You're going to go after her, aren't you. Don't get yourself killed." the demon lord digimon muttered and was met with a nod from BelleStarmon. Shooting off to an unknown destination, Leviamon took the time to look about. She could've at least stayed until Thomas showed up to get him. Not that he had anything to really transport ba-
"You idiot. I left you alone for a couple years and this is how you invite yourself back?" a voice called out and Leviamon spun around. There, a tall black man stood. Dressed in a fancy green suit, an alligator themed leash hung in his hands. Or at least did until he saw the size of his partner.
"Oh. Hi Thomas." Leviamon greeted and slowly approached Thomas. Carefully reaching out to his partner's hand, the result was easier said than done.
