I don't own digimon.
Story 73
Moonlight Denestu Pt 2 - Leave out all the rest
Even before he could see whatever it was that was causing trouble, Larry had a feeling that things were about to go to shit. Between the red sky, the sudden cloud of sulfur and now the sudden yet loud sound of a building being reduced to rubble, it was only a matter of time before whatever this was would head his way and kill him. Served him right. While Larry liked to think that he was doing better after the trip to the hospital, he and Goblimon had reached an impasse in their relationship. They were tolerating each other's presence, but not much else. He had hoped to repair things, but the gap between them was far larger than one could easily maneuver on their own. Let alone with the help of others. Reaching into his pants pocket, out came his phone. Unlocking the device, his hands navigated to his messages. Scrolling down to Natalie, all it took was a tap to bring the log of messages up. Hard to believe the last time they had talked was right after Goblimon kicked his ass.
"I hope you understand." Larry thought as he scribed in the message. Looking it over a couple times, he pressed 'send'. Not even looking to see if it actually went through, the sound of heavy wings flapping took precedence here. Looking around for his partner, he didn't need to look far in order to find him. Currently sitting on his ratty-looking couch, the goblin digimon looked to be drinking a glass of orange juice. At least, Larry hoped it was orange juice. "If I died, how would you feel? Would you even come to my funeral?"
Goblimon looked in the direction of his partner. How the fuck was he supposed to answer that question? Obviously, he would be quite mad. For as much shit that he had given his partner, a part still cared. Quite a lot, in fact. Which made the moments where they disagreed all the worse. In the moments when they couldn't see eye-to-eye, it honestly did seem like one of them would kill the other. It never went that far, but it did make Goblimon wonder here. What could his partner even be getting at here? Did he even want to know? Part of him very much didn't.
"Don't you even dare die on me! I'll be the one who dies first. That way, you can just revive me… right?"
Larry looked away. If it was only that simple. Did his partner really not understand that this wasn't what happened to a human when they died. Nice as it would probably be, losing your memories and possibly ending up as an entirely different person didn't sound so nice. Though, some religions did believe that was one's fate after death.
"Uh yeah… totally." Larry answered as black chains pierced through the door. Not getting any further after that, the message was clear. Whoever it was out there, they wanted them dead. Not much they could do about that. At least beyond, stalling for time in the hopes of Natalie getting here and perhaps defeating this threat with Examon.
"So you're the one who broke Natalie's heart. I was expecting a buff douchebag, not a washed-up loser." a voice called out as the hand of Belphemon Rage Mode ripped the doors off. Pulling part of the frame above it off for good measure, the demon lord of wrath digimon poked her head through. Looking upon the pair, Larry did his best to meet her gaze. Pushing back the fear and dread echoing across his mind, he stepped forward.
"Yes, I very much have fucked up. What about it?" Larry announced, only for the sound of electricity to begin buzzing from outside. No telling what the source of that was. All he knew was that it was heading their way and would suck in some regard.
"Boo. I was hoping that you would attempt to deny that fact. Would make killing you all the sweeter." Belphemon Rage Mode announced as Larry closed his eyes. This was it. Even if he did live from this attack, he was a sitting duck.
Lightning Horn!
Electricity surged across the house, bringing with it darkness. In this light, that wasn't much of a problem. Later in the day and heading into the night, it would very much be one.
"Fuck." Larry muttered, straining his neck to catch a glimpse of his partner. Making his way over, there was a miniscule chance this could work. Though, they would need a whole lot of luck in order to facilitate such an outcome.
"Stupid electrical systems!" Belphemon Rage Mode announced and smashed her fist into the grass. Knocking Larry and Goblimon up for a moment, they landed back down mere seconds later. Picking themselves back up, their attention shifted back to Belphemon Rage Mode.
"You sound familiar to me. Have we met before?" Larry inquired, only for his question to be met with black chains. Wrapping around his body, he was pulled over to his opponent. Not even attempting to struggle, the loser stared up at Belphemon Rage Mode. Why couldn't he shake the feeling that they had met before? Such an odd feeling to have before possibly dying.
Memento Saber!
A swing from a greatsword pierced through the already broken remains of the home. Slamming right into Belphemon Rage Mode, the chains around Larry disappeared and dropped the loser to the ground.
Scampering over to his partner, Larry let out a sigh. While pissed, for once it was on something other than him. A blessing, one he would savor before he took his last breath.
"Let me take the lead here." Goblimon barked and was met with a nod from his partner. Good to know they were both on the same page in that regard. Felt like forever since it had been that way. Whether or not it would last, remained to be seen. Shoving the thought to the back of his head, Goblimon shifted his attention to Belphemon Rage Mode. "Hey fuckface! What's the big idea storming my home! I wasn't even threatening you in the first place!"
Belphemon Rage Mode raised an eyebrow. What did this whelp think to be accomplishing with their obvious power level difference here. They had to see how futile it was and would soon crumble. All the more reason to end this fight before it even began. That would definitely show them. If it took out Larry in the process, even better. That would be more than enough to get dear old Blackwood into a rage and have Examon throw everything at her. Far better than
"You're a threat by way of existing. Is that a good enough reason here?" Belphemon Rage Mode announced and Goblimon shook his head. He couldn't have heard what he just did. Existing was in no way a crime (regardless of what dictators and despots thought), so then why did Belphemon Rage Mode think that? It flew in the face of all logic. Sort of like the demon lord of wrath digimon continued growth.
"Not really? I'm merely a speck in the grand scheme of things." Goblimon answered as a v-shaped beam of light slammed into his opponent's back. Knocking Belphemon Rage Mode forward, she was no worse for the wear. If anything, that attack had probably made her stronger in some regard.
"Yet, specks of dust are all it takes to wreck the best laid plans." Belphemon Rage Mode announced, her eyes sliding shut for just a moment. More than long enough for an image of a delinquent and his agumon kicking her ass. Why did her mind need to remind her of such a shameful moment? No matter, this was all the more reason to crush them and then UlforceVeedramon. Especially before he went into Future Mode for real and used whatever information he got from his vision against her.
Gift of Darkness!
Raising her hand up, Belphemon Rage Mode brought her hand back down. A large sphere of darkness crashed through the house, bringing with it even more structural damage. Nothing on when she crushed her own house, but came kind of close to that.
"If that's a 'gift', I don't want to see what you give to your actual friends." Larry announced, feeling Belphemon Rage Mode's gaze swivel over to him. Looking him right in the eye, the loser held his ground. It was all he could do here. Any attacks he tried on Belphemon Rage Mode were bound to backfire in spectacular fashion. Though, this too was bound to draw her ire even further and get him into a situation that he much rather not be in. The story of his life, as of late. Try as he might, fate seemed keen to make things a challenge to overcome. So far, he had taken each part in stride and came out the other side. But this was the exception that proves the rule. Between the debris, a stray attack and all other sorts of attacks, he was likely to be a goner.
"I chain them up. That way, they have to remain with me for all of eternity." Belphemon Rage Mode answered and stared down at Larry. While she had hoped for an easier kill, this worked quite well. But which one to start with? Perhaps the partner. That sounded fun. "Not that I consider any of you friends."
Larry gulped, fighting the paralyzing fear threatening to overtake his body. Watching Belphemon Rage Mode raise her fist up, she brought her appendage down on Goblimon. Digital particles escaped out from under the fist, followed up with a chuckle from the demon lord of wrath digimon. Lifting her fist back up, all traces of Goblimon were gone. For added salt, Belphemon Rage Mode opened her hand up. Totally empty, not even a speck of digital particles to be found.
"Why the hell did you kill my partner?!" Larry screeched and stomped his foot against the floor. Accomplishing little in the way of satisfying his anger or getting Belphemon Rage Mode out of his house. No, it only made her even more interested in him. A feat he didn't even think was possible after murdering his partner.
"You're next, loser." Belphemon Rage Mode announced and licked her lips. She had been planning to go for a less than glamorous ending for this loser. But she was feeling quite hungry. Perhaps this was the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone. "Do I look like I give a fuck in the slightest?"
Larry gulped as his body was lifted up into the air. This was it. He was going to die by way of being eaten alive. As fates went, there were definitely worse ones to be inflicted with. Falling to your death came to mind. Then there was breaking your skull and then having the misfortune of bleeding out. That was even worse. No amount of healing could save you there. Shoving that thought out,
Avalon's Gate!
The sound of a spear piercing through Belphemon's skin echoed about what remained of the house. With it, the grip she had on Larry. Dropping him towards the floor, the loser braced for an impact. Closing his eyes, he waited for the ground to swallow him up. All he got was a bone-shattering 'crack'. By no means ideal, it gave him hope. While definitely misplaced, he would hold on with all he could.
"Ha! You killed your ex! Good on you." Belphemon Rage Mode announced as Larry opened his eyes. Everything looked blurry and misaligned. In retrospect, perhaps it would've been best to force the thoughts out about alternative ways to die. That would only make things worse. Didn't matter all the other things you did, that one thought (or thoughts) was all it took.
"You should've held onto him tighter. Or was it your intention to kill him anyway?" Natalie called out and ran inside. Staring down at her ex-boyfriend, a sigh escaped her lips. She wanted to curse for his stupidity. But right now, it wasn't the time for that. No, the shop teacher needed to somehow convince Belphemon Rage Mode. No pressure.
"Indeed it was. But now you're an accessory to my murder. How does that sound to you?" Belphemon Rage Mode announced as she was struck by both royal knights. Ignoring them for the moment, her attention hung to Natalie. "After all, Sailor Pluto is supposed to be that of the de-"
Belphemon Rage Mode didn't get that last part of her sentence out, Examon's spear stabbing right into her back. Piercing through, it didn't come close to actually damaging her.
"That's Sailor Saturn, you moron!" Examon announced, both voices coming through in that statement. Creating a larger hole to enter, Examon looked over to their partner.
"Eh. All weeb shit is pretty much the same, when you get down to it." Belphemon Rage Mode added and felt both Royal Knight digimon look her way. Giving a shrug, a chuckle escaped her lips. "I'm kidding, of course. God. You're all so sensitive. Grow a fucking spine or something."
Natalie rolled her eyes. Of course, Belphemon Rage Mode had to press all the buttons in front of her. While tempted to respond with something rude or sarcastic, Natalie bit her tongue. Looking back down at Larry, there was still a chance that he could make it through this. And yet, the odds of such a feat occurring were so impossibly low that it was almost not worth it.
"Can I do anything for you, Larry?" she whispered and Larry nodded. Or at least tried too. The result looked more like he was trying to get back up rather than move his head a little.
"Kill this gal of a bitch for me." Larry whispered as his eyelids slid shut. Breathing one last breath, his body going limp. Natalie punched the floor and forced her perspective back to Belphemon Rage Mode. Words could not describe the feelings she felt right about now. How fucking dare this woman kill someone she cared a tiny bit about. Yes, things weren't the same after their breakup. Then there was the mess with Goblimon. But they were still friends (in some sense of the word). Heck, Larry was looking to finally get his life back on track. Now, she would need to tell his parents the bad news. Would they lash out at her for her inability to protect their son? Would they understand the events leading up to his death? Or would they have other questions here that she might not know the answer to? No matter. Natalie and her partners would just cross that bridge when they got to it.
"Oh. Where's the Natalie who wanted me to make amends with that stupid waste of space of a partner?" Belphemon Rage Mode cooed and Natalie rolled her eyes. Was that the hill her opponent really wanted to die on? That could be easily arranged.
"She's still here, but she's joined by the Natalie who wants to kick your ass." Natalie announced and looked over to her partner. Examon nodded, even if they didn't quite understand what was going on here.
Pendragon's Glory!
Letting forth a laser from their lance, Examon watched Belphemon tank the blast. Taking a swing at their partner, Natalie managed to step out of the way. Just in time for UlforceVeedramon to slash her with his memento saber. Tanking that attack as well, the demon lord of wrath digimon took the opportunity to rip even more of Larry's home away. In the light of the red sky, Belphemon Rage Mode shined like a queen of demons. Not that such a role was suited for her.
"Is it just us, or is Belphemon Rage Mode growing bigger?" Examon inquired and Natalie nodded. Yes, she very much was growing bigger. But to what purpose and why exactly? Unlike those that fought beside them, digimon didn't not experience growth spurts. Unless they were digivolving, of course. While what was happening to their opponent could very likely be that, some other explanation had to fit here. Right? This flew in the face of all
"Indeed I am." Belphemon Rage Mode cooed, a twisted yet proud smile forming on her face. Splitting focus between all her audience members, laughter followed. In return, that got her glares from all sides. "Oh. Do you want to know what my master plan is?"
"Yes, actually." UlforceVeedramon announced and approached the demon lord of wrath digimon. Steeling himself for whatever might come out of their opponent's mouth, all that got him was another chuckle.
"I wish to become a sin among sins. The true leader of the Seven Demon Lords, Ogudomon!" Belphemon Rage Mode announced, growing ever so much as she said that. "Then and only then, will I extinguish Ophanimon Falldown Mode once and for all. So go ahead, look into the future and see my glory!" Belphemon Rage Mode announced and took off once more. Giving a wave to Natalie, that was her cue to flip the demon lord of wrath digimon off. Satisfied with that response, her attention shifted over to UlforceVeedramon and Examon.
"Do you even want to look into the future?" Examon inquired and UlforceVeedramon let out a sigh. Would this even work?
UlforceVeedramon mode change too… UlforceVeedramon Future Mode!
Wings darkening, UlforceVeedramon Future Mode felt lights forming around his body. The sound of a clock ticking echoed across his ears, bringing with it the sight of a destroyed town. The bodies of humans and digimon were scattered about, Ogudomon floating overhead. Yet, he could make out a gigantic armored woman opposite of Ogudomon. For some reason, UlforceVeedramon was reminded of a magical girl.
"I think I understand." he thought as the vision ended. Turning back to the duo beside him, he motioned for them to follow.
