31.12.2021
Welcome everybody to what's going to be my final update for the year (it's currently 22:24 so I still count it as a 2021 update)! We've gathered here today, tomorrow or any day really to witness a continuation of what has come to be the second most popular one-shot/trailer of my FicFest!
By the way, I'm totally floored with how well some of them are doing! Thanks to everyone that enjoyes my works for making my year that much more fun. But before you can read the chapter I have a comment to address!:
Omnipotent X - I'm gonna declare right now that Ochaco is not going to make an appearance in this fic, like, at all, besides maybe being mentioned. I simply don't like her enough to feature her in what's going to become a massive harem. Also, I've already read like probably two to three fics with similar ideas on Ao3, though I cannot recall their names, but I found the idea of everyone waking up naked just too forced for some reason, so I came up with my own version! I'm glad you enjoyed the introduction and I hope to see you stick around!
And now the chapter!:
Ashido woke up some time later, remembering the strangest dream ever so vividly that she almost believed it to be true as she sat up and stretched. Or at least tried to, because as soon as she started raising her left arm a dull pain throbbed through her shoulder. She looked at it to see that her shirt had been removed, but her bra was still on, and the numb area was wrapped with cloth like a makeshift bandage.
She looked around and that's when she realized that what she took for a very weird dream was real. She wasn't in her room as she expected but in a cave, probably the one that Midori led her to.
Speaking of, she noticed that he wasn't in the cave with her. For a few moments she debated leaving the comfort of the sleeping spot she was laying in and trying to look for her classmate, but after all the craziness she experienced, her body refused to move, so she just laid there and waited.
Thankfully she didn't have to wait for long as after only a couple of minutes she heard cautious steps approach the cave. A few moments later Izuku's head peeked into the room followed by the rest of his body. He set something down near the entrance and slowly walked up to her.
"Are you awake yet?", he whispered, probably not to interrupt her sleep in case she was still asleep.
"Yup", she answered with a grin and sat up. This caused the boy to immediately turn around as if something was about to pounce him from behind, deeply confusing her in the process. "What's wrong?", she asked whilst tilting her head.
"You don't have a shirt on…", he mumbled barely loud enough for her to hear.
"And? Didn't you already see me shirtless whilst dealing with the wound on my shoulder?", she tried her best to defuse this potentially awkward situation, but ended up making it slightly worse.
"Y-Yeah, I'm sorry about that", he had the audacity to apologize!
"Listen here Midori", she started in a stern voice. "I don't want you apologizing for saving my life. And doing so twice! If it wasn't for you, that not-so-extinct sabre-tooth would have probably killed me. And there's no way I would be able to find a safe place without you, so you better stop apologizing or else…", she sounded really serious, but a big smile was on her face. This whole situation just screamed 'Midoriya'. Leave it to him to apologize for saving someone's life. "His mom really made sure he drank his 'respect women juice'"
"I-I'll try", the scolded boy said as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck.
"Great!", she exclaimed and then laid back down before covering herself with the blanket once again. "You can look now"
As soon as she said that he turned around to face her with a gentle smile on his face. "How are you feeling?", he asked in concern as he shuffled a bit closer to her.
"It's not the first time I've been bitten, so I think I'll manage", at least she thought so, but then she looked in Midoriya's direction and saw an angelic glow emanate all around him. "Or maybe not…"
"Is something wrong?", he asked as he moved a bit closer. In doing so however, he allowed her to see the source of his angelic glow.
There, stuck as a part of the cavern's ceiling was a gathering of glowing rocks that she just realised were providing lighting for the entire cave, since there was no bonfire inside.
"What are those?", she pointed at the rock formation with wonder and amazement in her eyes.
Call her stereotypical, but like most women she liked pretty things, stones especially, and these were really pretty. Their yellow color reminded her of amber or topaz maybe and the light they emanated only added to their beauty.
Izuku turned around with squinted eyes and then smiled as he turned back to her. "I have no idea, but they are really useful. And pretty", he stated proudly and Ashido chuckled at that.
"Would they be prettier if they had 'rocks' written on them", she teased and started laughing as a pout appeared on his face.
He huffed when she didn't stop laughing after a few seconds and then dramatically turned away from her with his arms crossed on his chest. "I'll have you know that they are crystals not rocks, and my taste in shirts is not that bad!", he shouted out that last part which only made Ashido laugh harder.
It was a running gag amongst the Class A students, who couldn't get enough of Midoriya's ridiculous shirts. There was one time when he forgot to prepare his usual school uniform for Monday, so he ended up wearing a black T-shirt that had 'dress shirt' written on the front. Needless to say he was scolded not only by Aizawa but Iida as well, though some students swore they saw their homeroom teacher's mouth curl up into an amused smile.
Back to the matter at hand, Ashido finally managed to stop laughing and giggling and sat back up on her bed. A devilish idea appeared in her head when she saw Midoriya's unprotected back in front of her. She pounced on him and wrapped his arms around his sculpted as if he was a Greek sculpture torso and laid her head on his shoulder.
"Don't be mad, I was just joking! Mostly", she teased, but was surprised when her reaction wasn't what she expected it to be.
Whilst more confident than at the start of UA, overly forward women remained Midoriya's biggest weakness. That's why she expected him to literally jump from the sudden contact and the feeling of her body against his back and then start stuttering.
To her surprise however none of that happened. She heard him sigh calmly as one of his hands went to rest on top of hers. "I'm not mad", he stated and she could practically hear him smile. "I'm actually quite happy that you're here. I guess you could say I needed someone to cheer me up for a while", it was at this moment that she remembered what he said earlier, about being stranded here for six months. All alone.
She deflated instantly as she understood just how stressful it must've been for him. She was okay now only thanks to his help. He didn't have that comfort.
"I can't imagine how hard it must've been for you, all alone in a place you don't know and with hungry saber-tooths on the loose. I doubt I could survive a week and you managed to last half a year! You're amazing!", she exclaimed, which resulted in Midoriya actually blushing a bit from the praise, though he shook his head before he spoke next.
"I'm not that amazing. I spent the first couple of days running around like a headless chicken, trying to not get eaten by predators, stung by poisonous bugs and what not. I only made it because I found this place. I don't know why, but no animal can cross the two streams around the tree. It's strange, but I'm sure as hell not complaining about it", he explained with a small smile as his hand finally left hers. Then he slowly wiggled his way out of her grasp and stood up before turning to her. "Hungry?", he asked and Ashido's stomach grumbled out loud at the mention of food. "I'll take that as a yes!", Midoriya chuckled and it was now Ashido's turn to pout as she blushed in embarrassment.
"Meanie", she stated though a small smile graced her lips. "What's for lunch?", she asked, curious what kind of food he could procure in this strange place.
"It's more like dinner to me", he stated and then went to explain as he saw her puzzled expression. "You've slept through almost an entire day, the suns are about to set"
"Really? It felt like a short nap to me…", Ashido said in confusion and then her eyes shot wide open. "'Suns'? As in multiple?!", she questioned.
"There are two moons as well", he informed her and smirked as he saw her entire form light up.
"I've got to see that!", before she had a chance to wander outside and witness these marvels however, her stomach loudly reminded her that it would be advisable to eat first. "Though I guess I could get something to eat before that…", she trailed off in embarrassment as she scratched her cheek with a sheepish smile.
She didn't expect wonders from the food, but was surprised when Midoriya presented her with a fish the size of her hand grilled over a campfire. It was a bit hard to eat due to all of the bones it had, but was actually really tasty.
Izuku revealed to her that he only recently got good at cooking and his first attempts at grilling ended up with inedible charcoal and other disasters. He didn't seem that embarrassed about it either. Looks like he really appreciated being able to share some of his stories with someone else.
After they ate, Izuku led her back outside to prove to her that there really were two suns in the sky. He even took her to one of his favorite spots situated on one of the higher roots of the massive tree which, at least in his opinion, offered an excellent view of the sunsets.
She agreed with his opinion as soon as they set foot in his little lookout.
The view was simply breathtaking! The suns weren't side by side like she expected them to be and were instead on the opposing sides of her vision and she was only barely able to catch both of them at once! They were even bigger than the Sun back in Japan!
Their golden glow however was what really brought out the beauty of this scene. The two opposing light sources bathed the entire forest in a sea of amber that made everything have a golden hue to it. Every treetop, rock and whatnot looked like Midas himself touched it and turned it to gold!
And don't even get her started on the reflection in the river below them! The hum of the waterfall was a cherry on top that made this view all the more amazing and relaxing.
"I usually come here to relax, it's probably the most peaceful place in whatever this place is. So serene and undisturbed", Midoriya revealed as he gazed upon the view with a small smile.
"Yeah, I thought that our dorm's rooftop was peaceful, but this is on an entirely different level", she agreed and then let the silence takeover as they simply admired the sunset.
They stayed there until both of the suns vanished behind the trees and their glow died down. All the excitement and adrenaline they felt throughout the day left their body completely and drowsiness took their place.
Midoriya carefully led the slightly swaying Ashido down to the ground and back to the cave, where he then proceeded to manipulate her into taking the only sleeping spot available. She would normally object or make a witty remark about sharing the bed with a not-so-hidden innuendo behind her words, but she was way too tired to try and convince Izuku that he didn't have to give up his bed.
Actually, the more she thought about it just before she fell asleep, the more she realized that even if her energy reserves were full, there was no way she could change the mind of one of the most stubborn members of Class A.
That's why she fell asleep with the tiniest amounts of guilt and insurmountable amounts of gratitude.
Over the next couple of days they fell into a routine. With some hurdles at the start of course.
You see, Midoriya, being his adorably overprotective self, refused all the help Ashido offered as per usual. It was kind of a mystery why he insisted on doing things by himself even amongst his closest friends - Uraraka and Iida.
At first Mina gave up and had to spend an entire day on her lonesome, and seeing as she didn't want to be eaten by stumbling into a pack of hungry saber-tooths, she spent that entire day in the cave. Needless to say she got bored almost immediately. She was an extrovert with boundless amounts of energy! Sitting in place with no one around was definitely not her forte.
That's why on the second day she insisted on helping and when that didn't help she started nagging him. First he tried to ignore her and leave to do what he had to do, but Ashido followed him outside and into the forest on the other side of the river.
Ashido's resolve was weak enough at that point that she was about to give up once again, but then heard him sigh as he turned around to face her.
"Alright, I guess it'll be easier to gather food for two people when both of us do it", he relented and then started walking back towards the tree.
"Huh, why are we going back to the cave?", she wondered but followed him nonetheless.
"This river flows from that waterfall", he motioned to the right, "all the way to the underground cave system there", now he motioned to the left where another steep cliff was visible above the trees. "It seems that this is some kind of a ravine or a valley and this river not only protects the tree, but also a small forest that grows along the cliffs there", Midoriya explained as they reached the presumably safe side of the river.
True to his words, there was a massive stone wall surrounding the place and if what he said about this being safe territory, then she wouldn't have to sit in a cave all day and could take a walk here or something to relax!
But before she could unwind she had some work to do. Unfortunately, instead of doing some learning on the job Izuku explained to her in minute details what not to touch, smell or even look at, which took a bit out of the whole experience. Midoriya was quick to recall a short story when he tripped and landed in a bush with tiny, red-colored flowers that looked like tails or maybe tongues. He told her exactly how agonizing was the fever that started a few hours later. "It was as if my whole body was on fire!", he exclaimed in the middle of his story. " I felt as if my blood was about to start boiling and my skin would peel off any second!", he continued his gruesome story. "I was lucky to have found a semblance of a medical herb that helped me battle through the fever", he sighed and turned towards the slightly bored Ashido. " I know this isn't the most exciting thing in the world, but trust me when I say that there are some very dangerous plants here. I'd know, I spent half a year here, testing, surviving, experiencing and I simply don't want you to get hurt or worse…", his gentle tone at the end made Mina feel another pang of guilt.
"He's just trying to protect me like he usually does, so why am I acting like a spoiled brat?!", she scolded herself and lightly pinched her cheeks before speaking. "I'm sorry for being such an annoyance", she apologized with a slight bow. "You're doing your best to help me become useful and I'm being so ungrateful and you even had to change your plans because of my selfishness-", she would probably continue speaking if two powerful arms didn't grasp her shoulders tightly.
"Look at me", he ordered calmly and she obeyed, staring into his eyes that were only a few centimeters away from hers. "You are not an annoyance and it's kind of my fault for leaving you all alone yesterday", he smiled gently at her as he scratched the back of his neck. "You just act so casually that I almost forgot you've just arrived here and are way more freaked out than you look", Izuku revealed in embarrassment.
"Looks like neither of us are operating on peak efficiency right now", Ashido joked and they giggled. "How about we start over? I promise to be the best student you've ever had!", she exclaimed with a salute and Midoriya couldn't stop himself from chuckling.
"Let's go then", he said and the 'lesson' started.
For the next couple of hours, Ashido let herself be subjected to an activity she hated the most - studying. Although now she was really learning stuff that will save her life and her teacher was kind of good looking and dorkingly adorable so it definitely wasn't as bad. Plus, she could talk back to said teacher and correct him whenever he messed up colors like blue and turquoise. She didn't blame him for the mistakes of course since most men didn't even know that turquoise existed as a color!
Despite all the pros, banter and joking around, learning about all the different plants that will gladly cause grievous injuries upon contact all day left its toll on Ashido who felt quite burned out by the end of the lessons. A big chunk of that energy was restored however when she managed to discern an edible berry from her poisonous cousin that lived next door.
They spent a couple of hours in the evening to gather enough food for themselves before going back to the cave.
The next few days looked almost identical. They would both wake up around the same time, eat some breakfast and then off to the forest they went. One thing that Mina started missing almost immediately was the distinct inability to take a bath.
Thankfully Izuku had a solution, a very surprising one too.
As it turns out, this strange place they've found themselves in is not only inhabited by long extinct predators, but also has a type of berry that can act as soap when ground. You don't want to know how Izuku discovered their special ability.
But I'm gonna tell you anyway! He ate them. It was all the way back when he was still experimenting with different plants that he stumbled upon. He found a bush that looked about ready to give in under the weight of its fruit, so Izuku plucked a couple berries off and then chucked them into his mouth. As soon as he started chewing the berries reacted with his saliva and started to foam. Needless to say it took a good couple of hours before Izuku got rid of the taste from his mouth completely and a good couple of minutes for Ashido to stop laughing when he told her this story.
All in all Mina was very happy when she could submerge herself in a shallower part of the river and scrub all the dirt off of her voluptuous, pinky body.
Another excellent feature of this strange world was the climate. The days were warm with occasional light rains here and there and the nights were almost as warm as days! This phenomenon made Ashido's evening walks along the river all the more enjoyable.
Days spent on learning about all the various edible or poisonous plants flew by and Ashido's first week with Midoriya was nearing its end.
Mina covered herself with a big green towel that she wasn't sure how Midoriya was able to acquire and then started heading back to their cave.
She didn't bother drying herself completely which might've been a mistake when a sudden breeze sent shivers throughout her entire body.
Ashido tightened the thin fabric around her form as she neared the entrance to their cave. Speaking of, it was now way easier to get in and out of their shelter since Izuku himself stated that no animal has ever crossed the river that surrounded their little island and all the spikes at the front seemed redundant.
She walked inside the cave and immediately noticed that Izuku wasn't there like he usually would be.
Ashido let the towel fall to the ground which revealed her fully naked body.
"I wonder how flustered would Midori get if he were to walk in on me right now?", she thought with a devious smirk though a light lilac hue appeared on her cheeks as she reached for her clothes.
Grey shorts and a bit too long black shirt was what Mina wore when she exited the cave to go and look for her friend. First place she decided to visit was the spot where he showed her the sunset on her first day here. It turned out to be the correct guess as she spotted him looking out towards the horizon.
He noticed her approach and turned to greet her with a smile. "I thought you'd be asleep already", he said in surprise.
"I was about to lay down, but you were nowhere to be found, so I came looking for you", she explained herself as she sat down next to him. "Isn't it a bit too late to admire the sunset?", she joked and Midoriya chuckled.
"I'm waiting for a meteor", he answered and Ashido looked at him astounded.
"Why?", she questioned in confusion.
"Right, I forgot to tell you. Every seven days a meteor falls in this general area and it always has some supplies near the crash site, that's how I've gotten your current… clothes…", he trailed off and Ashido had to look in his direction to ask what happened.
As she was about to however, it became blindingly obvious what caused him to freeze up like that.
You see, her shirt may be a bit too long, but it was actually quite snug and it hugged her figure nicely. Midoriya made the mistake of looking in her direction and must've noticed her sizable bosom accentuated perfectly by her shirt.
"You know, it's kind of flattering that your eyes are glued to me with all of these breathtaking views all around. Makes me feel special", she teased with a cheshire grin plastered on her face and then burst out laughing when Midoriya's face was overcome by a very noticeable blush.
He then proceeded to try and stammer out an excuse or at least any sort of response and fail miserably at doing so.
The moment was cut short however when the sky suddenly lit up with various shades of orange and red. This change made Midoriya immediately jump to his feet and start looking around to try and spot the incoming meteor.
Ashido followed his example, after she got her giggles under control of course. A soft whistle disturbed the peaceful silence of the evening as the sky got brighter and brighter.
"There!*, Izuku exclaimed, more to himself than to inform her, but Mina still found herself facing the same way as he.
She immediately spotted the flaming ball of fire on a very steep trajectory. It lit up the area enough that one might think it was the middle of the day! The light dimmed out however when the meteor hit the ground with a powerful impact that could no doubt give Bakugo a run for his money with how damn loud it was!
"Dang, that's kind of far…", she heard him mutter and looked back towards the crash site.
It was easy enough to spot with the soft orange and red glow of flames that no doubt sprouted around the point of impact. Still, it was quite far from their safe haven and they would have to enter that dense forest which will no doubt make the journey even longer. And more dangerous of course.
As carefree and joyful as she was, Mina wasn't looking forward to coming face to face with another saber-tooth tiger after her last near fatal encounter.
She decided to stop wondering about their next move and simply consult Midoriya on the matter. That option however was unavailable because the aforementioned greenhead was nowhere to be seen.
Ashido looked down towards the river and spotted her companion about to cross their safe barrier.
"Wait up!", she yelled and then quickly made her way towards him. He stood still and waited for her to catch up. "Are we really going for that meteor?", she asked.
"I was planning to go alone…", he revealed and took Ashido aback with that little information.
"A-Alone?! Are you out of your mind?!", to be fair, she may have overreacted a bit, though she felt her response was justified at that moment. Heading into the jungle at night was probably the most suicidal thing he has ever done! And Ashido still vividly remembers that he fought that Nomu monster that was capable of going toe to toe with All Might!
Midoriya sighed and tightened his grip on a satchel that Ashido only now noticed was hanging on his shoulder. "I know that this sounds like a bad idea, but it's better if I go alone. I taught you some things already, but I still have half a year of experience when it comes to surviving in this place. Besides, I know how hard you worked for the past couple of days and I think you could use the rest", his arguments were seemingly flawless and Ashido ended up agreeing with everything he said, even though her hero instincts told her that letting him go alone was wrong.
It was her turn to sigh now as she deflated a bit. "I know you're right, but I still don't like it", was her response to which he smiled gently.
"Go get some rest, I'll be back before you know it", he assured her and then turned away to head towards his destination.
Ashido stood there and watched him with a somber expression on her face and left only when he vanished in the dense thicket on the other side of the river. "You better be…", she mumbled before going back to their cave.
She tried to follow his advice and get some sleep, but quickly found herself unable to. She didn't realize how comforting his presence was. Thanks to the crystals on the ceiling she could always spot him even in the middle of the night. Now though, she was all alone.
Every little sound, creak or murmur made the hair on her neck stand at attention. She was scared, frightened even! What if he didn't return? What if he was attacked by some predators and clawed to death?! Oh god, would she be able to survive on her own?
Her breathing was shallow and her eyes were watery. She desperately tried to get all of these negative thoughts and emotions out of her mind and heart, but found herself overwhelmed.
She didn't know how long she sniffled and sobbed before exhaustion lulled her to sleep. Minutes? Hours? She didn't know how long she laid there, but she knew something else - Izuku will come back safe and sound, because even though he is really reckless and stubborn, he never breaks his promises.
That one single thought was the main reason why in the end she managed to stop worrying about her classmate and fall asleep undisturbed by any nightmares.
Any Mina fans in the review section? I hope so, cause she's gonna be the center of attention for now!
Anyway, I'm a bit tipsy right now which means that I get overly emotional really easy so I'll keep this short. Thank you everybody for practically making my year twice as fun as it would've been otherwise. For all the reviews, favs and views. 2021 and a big chunk of 2020 were god awful due to the whole Coronavirus situation so I wish all of you to stay safe during these certainly unusual times and for your wishes to fulfill too!
Yours sincerely, a random person happy that someone enjoys his fics! Happy New Year everybody!
