"Mommy? Mom! I can't find my dress!"

"Hang on, I'll be right there," Lorelai called back.

"Hurry, we're going to be late!"

"Well then you should have started getting ready when I told you to, not ten minutes later," Luke called from the bedroom.

"Oh please, don't start with her," Lorelai whispered to Luke. "You know how she gets when she can't find the outfit she wants." She walked out of their room drying her hair with a towel and went across the hall. "Hey Sweetie, what's the problem? I thought you wanted to wear the blue dress tonight."

"I do," Wendy insisted. "But this one is light blue, I need the dark blue one. That's the Yale colour, Grandpa said so."

Lorelai giggled, "Oh he's starting in on you now, hu?"

"Mommy, please!"

Lorelai smiled and found the dress in the closet and handed it to the little girl smiling up at her.

"Oh NO!" Luke screamed from the other room."

Lorelai ran back to their room, "What happened?"

"This child of yours just spilled apple juice and messed up the outfit you wanted him to wear!"

"Oh no! Danny, not the outfit Grandma bought you," Lorelai whined. She then turned to Luke, "How much time do we have?"

"We should be out the door in thirty minutes," he said after glancing at his watch.

"Okay, well this outfit matches the one Wendy is wearing, I'm going to quickly hand wash this and then throw it in the dryer. Please keep the adorable toddler as clean as possible."

"Maybe we should just dress him there or in their driveway," Luke offered.

"Ha ha"

"He's two! What do you expect?"

Everyone at Friday night dinner was wearing Yale blue in some fashion. Emily was thrilled that Lorelai put the kids in the clothes she bought especially for this occasion. Emily had planned a photographer to be at the house before dinner time so they could have family portraits done. With the kids growing so quickly Emily wanted to use any occasion to have pictures taken.

Rory was graduating from Yale and was starting her prestigious internship at the New York Times. She had worked so hard these past four years, she confided in Emily that having Wendy around inspired her to constantly do her best. She wanted to make it worth not taking on the role of raising her little sister on her own like her father wanted her to. So Rory took Yale by storm, she made the Dean's List each year, she worked on the Yale Daily News and was editor in her senior year, plus each Summer she found somewhere to intern. Emily was very proud of her granddaughter and even happier that Rory seemed to find happiness with Logan Huntzberger. Logan came from a family and background she wanted Lorelai to marry into, now she was able to admit that Luke was wonderful and a good match for her daughter, but it still did her heart good to know that Rory will have the help of the Huntzbereger name and reputation to make her way in the newspaper world.

"Grandma! Grandpa! Can we go swimming tonight?"

"No, not tonight. Tonight is about Rory," Emily said.

"What if I want to go swimming with them?" Rory asked.

"Let them swim," Richard urged. "This is just the Friday night dinner party, not the big one you're planning."

"What?!" Rory gasped. "You're having a big party?"

"We can't have you graduate Yale without having an alumni party," Emily stated as if it was obvious.

"Great! Another event I have to worry about," Rory sighed.

"You have nothing to worry about, I will plan it all , even your dress. It will be after all your finals so all your stress will be over."

Rory sighed, "Okay Grandma, just promise that my speech can be super short."

"Fine, fine. Go swim with your siblings!"

Emily, Richard, Luke and Lorelai sat on the patio while Rory was in the pool with Wendy and Daniel. The kids were having fun and Luke was a little jealous. So when Daniel called out, "Daddy, Daddy come!"

Luke looked over to Lorelai with a pleading face.

"Go!" Lorelai encouraged, "You know there are suits in the pool house."

"Are you coming too," he asked.

"I'll just dangle my feet in," Lorelai smiled.

That evening was one of the best Lorelai ever spent in that house. Watching Luke play with their kids in the pool, seeing Rory and Wendy so close, Luke happy with their son, and her enjoying the view and conversations with her parents. It was something that she was afraid would never happen. Certainly when she fell in love with Luke, someone so completely not their type, she didn't think she would have any relationship with her parents. But it turns out that people can surprise you in a good way too. Richard was even talking about joining Luke and Danny on one of their fishing days.

A few days later Lorelai was sitting at the diner, enjoying her time reading a magazine while the kids were at camp. Whenever he had a moment, Luke would stop and give her a small kiss or listen to her talk about the celebrity gossip she was reading about.

The bell rang to alert Luke to a customer entering and he was shocked when he looked up.

"Hey Logan," Luke smiled, causing Lorelai to turn to face the door.

"Hey Luke, Lorelai. Could I talk to you privately?"

Lorelai pointed to an empty table in the back corner of the almost empty diner. Logan and Luke nodded, following her to the table.

"Oh sorry, can I get you something to eat or drink?" Luke offered Logan.

"No, I'm fine, thanks."

"So what can we do for you?" Lorelai smiled.

Logan, who always seemed confident, was fidgeting and bouncing his leg. "Well, I just wanted to come out of respect for your relationships with Rory. I love her and appreciate the life you've given her. I would like to be a part of the rest of her life, I want to marry her and I would really like both of your blessings."

"She just finished school," Luke stated.

"I know," Logan replied.

"She's so young," Luke said.

"I guess that's relative," Logan smirked. He then turned his attention to Lorelai, "Should I be scared that you're speechless?"

Lorelai exhaled a small laugh, "I'm just thinking. I know you and Rory have had your ups and downs and I think you know Rory tells me pretty much everything. So you should know that I haven't always been your biggest fan."

"Lorelai, let me explain."

"No," Lorelai interrupted. "I don't need you to explain or apologize to me. If Rory is happy, I'm happy. You have my blessing to ask her anything you want. But know that I will be honest with her when she wants to talk about it."

"What are you going to say?" There was a lot of anxiety in Logan's voice.

"I'm going to say that she is young, just finished school and that you are only the third guy in her life. I'm going to tell her that if she marries you she would make her grandmother extremely happy. I'm also going to tell her that this is something she has to decide on her own, whatever she wants to do I will support her one hundred percent."

Logan looked over at Luke.

"Yeah, same here. Whatever Rory wants, whatever she feels will make her happy, I'll support it."
Logan smiled, his confidence clearly coming back, "Okay, great. This should be her choice, I'm just glad that you aren't going to try to talk her out of it." He stood up and shook Luke's hand, smiled at Lorelai and headed out of the diner.
