John's phone rang.
"Hello?" he said a little confused.
"Hello! Emergency!"
"What? Wait, is this definitely Jay?"
"Yes and I have no idea what to wear!
"Erm, okay, and why're you calling me?"
"You go on loads of dates, mostly with boring people but that's your choice, and I don't so I'm not sure what to wear."
"Well wear what you're comfortable in."
"But, what if he's in a suit?"
"Wear nice comfortable stuff."
"I don't think I have any."
"What size are you? And what colour do you usually look good in?" John sighed.
"12 and black or green, I guess, why?"
"I'll get you something. I'm leaving the surgery now anyway?"
John bought several dresses on the way home and was told no less than five times 'how lovely it is he's buying dresses for his girlfriend' to each one he replied they're for my flat mate, which no one really believed.
"Right," John called entering the flat, "I've got three."
"Perfect," Jay exclaimed, running out of her room to hug him, totally forgetting she was only wearing her underwear.
"Erm, clothes," John mumbled.
Jay looked down, "Oops," she apologised, "But if I'm honest if it wasn't culturally unacceptable I'd walk around here without a t-shirt on most of the time, except for when we have guests.
"Well, I wouldn't mind, Sherlock wouldn't notice, although Chris might," John replied handing over the dresses.
Jay tried them all, but had already chosen his favourite. A dress with a dark green top and a black skirt. She walked out and did a twirl.
"Yeah, maybe don't do that in the restaurant," suggested John, who'd just seen half of her underwear again.
"Oops, sorry, again," Jay laughed.
12 o'clock. Angelo's restaurant. Jay and Chris had just been seated.
"So…," Jay started, a little unsure what to say, so she said, "What's your favourite colour?"
"My favourite colour?" Chris repeated surprised, he'd never been asked that on a date before, "Erm, blue."
"Very cool, mine's green," Jay smiled, "Your turn."
"What? My turn for a random question? Erm, okay, how about your favourite film."
"Gotta be Clue, I've loved it since I was a kid, I know it almost word for word," Jay replied, "And yours?
I like Hot Fuzz. The Simon Pegg, Nick Frost film," Chris answered.
"Woah, I love that too. It's by far the best of the three," Jay smiled.
"Definitely," Chris agreed, then added, "Since we've had an odd start to our date, let's continue. Have you ever played two truths and a lie?"
"Erm yes, at school as an ice breaker," Jay replied.
"Go on, let's play now."
"Erm okay. I'm shorter than people think, my best friend's American and I'm a terrible magician."
"Wow, that's hard to guess," Chris remarked, "I saw you were wearing heels today and yesterday, so I guess you are shorter than people think. The magician fact is unusual, why would you mention something you're terrible at. So I think you aren't a terrible magician and you do have an American best friend."
"All right, and your three," Jay responded.
"Okay, I like Take That, my friend once took me to a gay bar, and I did a degree in mass murder," Chris stated.
"Erm an odd choice," Jay pondered, "I didn't think you could do mass murder degrees, I remember discussing this with a friend, a boy in sixth form, I think the closest you could get was a-"
Chris cut her off, "Psychiatry degree. I know, you told me."
"Wait, Chris Pence?" Is it really you?" Jay exclaimed.
"It is," he smiled, "You changed your name?"
"I was fed up of correcting people so I use my middle name. However if people ask Jay's my first name, and the other's my middle," Jay informed him, "Anyway, how odd is this? I've picked you out twice now."
"Yeah, I've still got the note and card you sent, and I regretted not acting on it."
"Well act on it now."
"Alright then," he replied before leaning and kissing her.
"And only what, ten years late," Jay laughed afterwards.
