Chapter 10: Trainings End

Sarah opened her eyes at the sound of someone calling her name. Sitting up she saw her friends gazing at her with concern in their eyes. Hoggle held out his hand to help her stand. She slowly got up and looked around in wonder. They stood in a circular field that was surrounded by a thick wall of trees. She looked back to her friends. Her question clearly written in her eyes. Sir Didymus was the first to speak.

"My Lady, our king, Sir Hogules, and I have agreed that it would be best that we train you in your dreams. Time moves differently in dreams and we can use that time to our advantage. We feel that war is coming, and the one who attacked you and Sir Ludo is none other than a wretch named Lord Canum. He is a vile, war thirsty fae, who has time and time again tried to over throw the high king and queen. We have to get you ready."

Sarah nodded in understanding. "So what do we do first?"

Sir Didymus glanced toward Hoggle and the dwarf nodded. He closed his eyes and drew on his armor's magic. Sir Didymus and Sarah shielded their eyes until the light faded. Sarah looked at his armor with wide eyes. "Beautiful" she murmured. "What type of gem is that? Crystal, or diamond?"

"Diamond." Hoggle grunted. "It is called the armor of Theallus. It repels any magic and stops any blow. The knowledge to create such armor was lost to us dwarves since before the great divide." Sir Didymus nodded. "Hoggle will be you sparing partner. Now than. Let us began with the basics. First you will learn to breath. Than to stand correctly, walk properly, block, and then you will learn to attack."

Sarah nodded in understanding. Sir Didymus took up a stance and motioned for her to copy him. A chair appeared out of thin air and Hoggle sat down and watched.

Jareth paced a crossed the great hall as the council waited the return of their general. He created a crystal and began to twirl it around in his hands. Titania watched as her second son grew more and more agitated. She knew that he was impatient to return to Sarah. She knew however that her soon to be daughter was in the best possible hands. She was no fool and she would recognize those runic symbols anywhere. Sir Didymus had finally been found.

She had wondered how her brother had been doing. When she had heard of his disappearance she had been worried for a while but as the years went on, she had gotten small gifts letting her know that her brother was still alive and well. They always appeared on her vanity table. It was always an enchanted flower. He always did create the most beautiful flowers.

They were always in a pot and she would plant them in her secret garden. They never died and were impossible to kill. In fact they grew to be the most sweet-smelling beautiful things. She knew that he always enchanted them so their smell would bring peace to the soul. She smiled to know that her son had his uncle on his side.

Of course there were only a select few who knew that Diagus was her brother. It was common knowledge back around six thousand years ago but as time came and went it was forgotten which was how her brother wanted it. He had made her promise that she wouldn't tell a soul. Her big brother was even more powerful than her mate and sons. She knew that he would always be there for her and that was enough for her.

He would have been high king of Avalon but he renounced his rights and changed his name. Not even Jareth knew that his uncle was Sir Didymus in disguise. She still remembered the day he disappeared for good.

Flashback

Titania was picking flowers from her garden when she saw her brother storming through. She smiled as she ran up to him only to stop at the expression on his face. He was obviously furious about something. She looked up to see storm clouds gather and than there was a great boom while lightning struck a tree near Diagus. She reached for him, taking hold of his arm to stall him. Like she knew he would, he stopped and looked down at her.

"What bothers ye, elder brother?"

The thunder and lightning subsided as she continued to gaze into his eyes. Slowly she expanded her aura and wrapped her soothing energy around her beloved brother. She still saw sparks of anger in his eyes as he struggled to calm himself.

There was a popped behind them and they both looked toward the direction of the new comer. She groaned. It was Canum. She felt her brother tense as Canum sauntered their way.

"Good eve, fair princess. Excuse the interruption on such a beautiful day. Diagus, I would have ye reconsider my request." Titania shuddered as his eyes roamed over her with interest. Beside her, her brother began to growl. "No."

She felt her brother's arm come around her and slowly moved her behind him. She stared at the back of his head then around to Canum. She gasped in surprise when he disappeared and she was grabbed forcefully from behind. Jerked away from her brother, Diagus whirled around reaching for her but missing. She grew cold as she felt something sharp pricking her neck.

She watched as fear flashed through her brother's eyes and she then knew what the object was. How on earth did Canum get a Cryuni dagger. There was only supposed to be one in existence and it was supposed to be guarded by Taronic a fierce four headed crystal dragon. It was the only thing that could completely kill a fae. Iron would weaken them and could kill them but they wouldn't truly die. Only the Cryuni dagger could stop reincarnation and their soul would cease to exist.

"Now what say ye Diagus? Do ye still refuse my request?" She could hear the glee in Canum's voice as he pressed the dagger further into her throat. She gasped to feel it cut into her neck. Blood dripped down her neck as she tried hard not to move. She watched as her brother rose his eyes to the sky than he turned around and began to walk away.

Canum growled low in his throat. "Ye would have her die rather then give her to I!" He shouted at her brother's retreating back. Suddenly Canum let out a cry as she felt his body pitch forward. He stumbled and she quickly ducked under the dagger and out of his reach. She whirled around just in time to see Canum thrown to the ground by a human male. She gasped in awe as she watched the human start to hammer him with his fists and Canum twisted trying to crawl away with a knife in his back. The human grabbed him by his hair and with a mighty blow to the fae's face finally knocked him out cold.

She stared at the man. He was tall, clearly a warrior with broad shoulders and when he looked up, she found that she could not look away from his piercing eyes. Her heart gave a thud as he walked up to her. She could feel the heat radiate from him. He looked down and cursed. He quickly tore of a piece of his shirt and held it to her neck.

She winced and placed her hand atop his own. "Who be ye?" She whispered. She looked up startled at the sound of her voice. It was soft and low. She felt her pulse quicken as she started into his beautiful eyes. Her head was up turned as she swayed into him.

A cough resounded behind them and Titania was started out of the trance. She looked behind her to see her brother. "Know this sister. I would see you die before I would give you to the likes of Canum." He turned to the man and bowed his head. "Ye have my gratitude stranger for saving my sister. For your bravery I will grant ye one request. Ask anything of me and it shall be given."

Titania glanced shyly to the man who still held her. He held her gaze as he spoke.

"I wouldst have her hand."

She snapped out of the trance as her brain processed his words. She turned to meet her brother's eyes. He held a serious look upon his face. "Tis her with whom ye have need to ask. Be warned that if she accepts ye than ye shall hensforth become one of us. What say ye sister? I leave the choice to ye."

Titania gazed shocked at her brother. He was her only living male relative. It had just been him and she for almost a thousand years. Their parents fazed into the resting realm when she was just about 700 turns. Her brother at the time was just under 2000. As her only living male relative, t'was supposed to be up to he with whom she was matched with.

She turned to the warrior before her. Locking her gaze upon his eyes she peered into his soul. Her eyes widened at what she read. There before her was a honest and good man. He had compassion and courage in his heart and honor in his soul. She blinked as she came back.

"Warrior, what be ye called?"

"I be called Oberon, fair maiden." The man murmured. The gentle smile in his eyes sealed his fate.

Titania smiled. "Titania be what I am called. Yer heart be kind and yer soul be good. By my elder brother's leave I accept."

She turned back to look at her brother only to find that he and Canum had disappeared.

End of flashback

She sighed as her eyes returned to the present. She glanced with a small smile to her mate. Still after thousands of years she burned with love for him. Yes, he could be stubborn at times and a pain in the arse at others but never did she regret her decision to mate him. She sighed again. Canum had disappeared only to resurface after the great divide. They were in the process of establishing and dividing the kingdoms between the honest and true fae when he showed his face.

By then she had forgiven him as he had a mate. She had given him the benefit of the doubt and bestowed upon him the kingdom of Rucillo. However time and again he had caused some sort of trouble for Avalon and his kingdom fell into disrepair. His greed for power and land proved to be trouble. The last straw was when he tried to overthrow her son around 200 turns ago.

She revoked his lands, while Oberon and she bestowed them upon Raidon. He then fell in love with the mortal Linda and conceded the throne to his cousin Bastias. Since than Rucillo has become a thriving and beautiful kingdom. Raidon had chosen his successor well indeed.

Now however Canum had crossed the line. She had a sneaky suspicion that he was behind the attack on little Toby as well. If that was the case than he would be stripped of his powers and banished. She and her mate would have to petition the gods and goddesses for that.

She sighed once more and growled at her son. With a wave of her hand and some well placed words she froze him to his spot. She rubbed her temples as she felt another headache coming. She could understand her son's anger but he didn't need to wear a hole in her throne room floor. Someone from the council snickered at her son's plight. Glaring at the council of kings and queens the look on her face dared anyone to do it again. Who ever it was got the message and fell silent.

She waved her hand toward her son again and released him from his frozen state. Jareth was just about to speak when a pop resounded in the great throne room. He whirled around to face the new comer. It was Hido. Hido knelt before his king and queen.

"Well, where is he?" Jareth growled while glaring down at the general. He watched as his mother came forward.

"What news Hido?" Titania as gently.

"He is no where to be found, my queen. I have both spies and bounty hunters on the look out. However no one seems knows anything. They all report the same thing. He has not been seen since last he tried to take over the goblin kingdom." Hido replied. His voice apologetic as he rose to his feet. He watched as the royals started to whisper loudly.

Oberon growled low in his throat. "I want him found!" He roar. Hido gulped at the furious expression. He bowed again and blinked out of the throne room.

Sarah gasped for breath as she blocked another blow. She side stepped Hoggle's swing and did a back flip landing a double kick to Sir Didymus's chest. Sir Didymus stumbled back and caught her next blow that had been aimed toward his windpipe. Sarah side stepped Hoggle's hammer again and flipped over him to get to the vulnerable points at his back. Hoggle rolled forward out of her reach just as Didymus fired several energy balls toward his charge.

Sarah did a one handed cartwheel out of the line of fire and shot of a freezing spell toward her mentor. They had been at this for the past seven and a half hours. None of the three wearing out yet. Didymus aimed a kick toward Sarah's leg as Hoggle swung at her head with his hammer. Sarah did a back flip over Hoggle grabbing his armor while she was at it and using his momentum she threw him over her shoulder. Hoggle landed on his back with a grunt.

Not wasting any time she back flipped out of Didymus's reach and onto Hoggle's chest. She threw a extra strength paralyses powder into his face. She rolled off him and managed to grab the fire ball that was thrown at her. She rolled the fire ball in her hands and using the same momentum that the throw had provided she shot the ball back toward Didymus.

Didymus batted the ball away and fired another round of lightning bolts. Sarah smirked as she dodged the attacks and flipping backward she hit the ground with an energy blast of her own. The ground shook heavily from the force of it, which gave her the distraction she needed to follow up with an vine trap. She manipulated the vines to grab Didymus's foot than with a flick of her wrist she launched him into the air. She lept up and quickly started a series of strikes to Didymus's chest.

Didymus blocked most of them and landed hard on the ground. Sarah rushed forward to began striking again when Didymus threw a fire ball toward her as she fast approached. Sarah flew back as the fire ball struck her in the chest. Sarah struggled for air as she landed on her side. The blow knocked the wind out of her left lung and she was forced to slow down for a minute.

Didymus took that opportunely to send a round of crystals toward her. The crystals glows with assorted colors as they surrounded her. Sarah drew in a deep breath and throwing her hands down to her sides she let out a banshee like scream summoning a fierce wind that whirled like blades around her. She flung out her hands and sent the wind blades in every direction.

Didymus could only raise a partial shield in time for the attack. The shield crumbled after the winds struck throwing him down hard upon the ground and the next thing he knew he was pinned with a very large tiger gently clamping her sharp teeth down on his throat.

Sarah backed up off her friend and changed back into herself. She turned walked over to where Hoggle lay paralyzed. Twirling her wrist she created a beautiful deep blue lily. She bent down with a smile and waved the lily back and forth under her friends nose. Hoggle inhaled deeply and than slowly he started to sit up. Sarah held out her hand to her friend and with a tug helped him to his feet.

Didymus stood up as well and with a wave of his hand he repaired the damage that had been done to his clothes. He turned to his young pupil and clapped his hands. Sarah grinned and gave a happy squeal. It had been almost eight years since she had first started. The training at first had been absolutely grueling. Her friends definitely didn't take an easy on her but it was well worth it.

"Ye did well Sarah. I am proud of ye. Ye have mastered all we had to teach. I believe that ye are ready to return." Hoggle nodded his agreement at that assessment. She just grinned happily. She had master eleven different styles of martial arts as well as elemental magic. She now was also a master of herbalogy. She knew every poison, antidote, and cure in existence. Didymus spared no knowledge for her to learn.

Didymus was proud of his pupil. She had mastered every spell he threw at her, as well as hand to hand combat, with the mastery of every weapon out there. She was now a master of gymnastics and acrobatics. She was the best pupil he had ever trained. Of course she was the only one he had ever trained.

"Before we return..." Hoggle began. Sarah watched curiously as her friend and mentor shifted around. Hoggle glanced to Didymus and the two nodded to each other. Hoggle than drew a amulet from behind his back and handed it to her.

Sarah stared at the amulet she had been given. It was beautiful. It was made of diamond and it was similar to Hoggle's amulet as it had two katana behind a shield. She looked up to her friends and found them grinning. "This was what you were working on at night wasn't it." She said. Hoggle and Didymus nodded their heads in acknowledgement.

"To activate it just close you eyes and will the amulet open." Hoggle explained. Sarah did as she was told. She found it quite easy to do. It was like an image of a chest in her mind. She reached out and opened the chest when suddenly she was surrounded by a warm and bright shining light.

Sarah opened her eyes to find that Didymus had conjured a mirror for her to see in. She was awe at what she saw. She was covered in diamond armor. It was incredibly light, so light in fact that she could barely feel it.

She walked around to test it out and found that she could move like normal. It wasn't bulky and it didn't hinder any movement what so ever. She drew the twin katana from her back and was awed. They too were extremely light weight.

Turning to her friends she felt tears well in her eyes. She was touched by the enormity of the gift that her friends had given her. A thought struke her and she pulled back. "I thought you said this knowledge was lost before the great divide!" Sir Didymus chuckled. "It was lost because one of the main creators of the armor disappeared. Theallus was a good warrior and a dear friend. Helping him create the armor that Sir Hogules in now intrusted with was a honor, just as forging the armor for you is an honor as well, my lady."

"Thank you for everything." She choked out as she tried to swallow the lump in her throat. The two nodded and let Sarah draw them in for a fierce hug.

After she let go they decided to celebrate and return to the real world in the morning. What no one could predict was by then it would be to late.
