"Really!"
"Really, really. Now on with the story!"

Chapter Thirteen: Maya's Quest Begins
Maya raced through the city coming up short at the little shop near the entrance. She stepped inside to see an older couple bustling about. "Excuse me."
The old looking woman's blue eyes lit up at the sight of her. "Oh my, my, my. A customer." What can I help you with dear?"
Maya bowed her head in respect to the older woman. "My name is Maya ma'am. I have a long journey I must make to the dragon's mountain and I need some supplies. I don't have anything to pay you with except my gratitude for now. I will reimburse you later. Can you help me."
She watched as the old woman smiled. There was a flash of light and the woman turned into a beautiful younger version of her older self. "You are very polite, your highness. I like that and because of that politeness, I will help you with what I can."
She went behind the well worn counter and started shuffling through some things putting a lot on the counter as she went. A Big loaf of bread with a huge hunk of cheese and some fruit, a few vials of liquid that varied in color. A pair daggers. A water skin was added to the pile. A few jars of what looked to be green goo were added. The fae turned around. "Mate where did you put my satchel!"
The older man looked at his mate with a frown. "I think I put it back in the closet. Your not going to give the girl that are you?"
"Of course I am giving her that! How else is she supposed to carry all this." The woman huffed while shaking her head. Maya smiled as she watched the fae turn to the closet. She watched the woman open it and with a cry of trumph she pulled a well worn old satchel. She came forward at the woman's gesture.
"Listen close Maya. This is a very special satchel. It will hold carry everything that you need and still will be light as a feather. Now this," She motioned to the jars of green goo. "is a very powerful healing medicine. Use it with care. This," She held up a vial with blue liquid in it. "Will transport you out beyond the labyrinth gates. Now this orange vial will give your feet extra speed. I am afraid that there is only a little left. Only enough for one dose I fear."
Maya nodded in understanding. "Thank you for everything ma'am."
"Your quite welcome and my name is Stella."
Maya smiled as she head toward and than out of the goblin gates. Looking in the satchel there was nothing. She panicked before her hand met one of the vials. She stared with shock at the bag. Looking in it she smiled. Nothing was what it appeared it seemed.
Stopping at the entrance to the labyrinth she opened the blue vial and drank it. She dropped the vial in favor of grabbing her head as the world spun around her. Her stomach heaved as she fell to her knees. before it all stopped suddenly.
She lifted her head and gazed around in wonder. It worked. Looking behind her she saw the labyrinth. She smiled as the sick feeling had passed and watching the position of the sun she began to run left.
Maya's feet were making quick work of the ground in front of her. The sun beat down on forcing her to stop a moment to send a command to the wind as she pulled her ice from within her to swirl around her. With that done she started to run again. Breathing easier as she went.
After a while she slowed to a stop. Hunger gnawed at her stomach as she pulled the bread from her bag and tore a piece off. As she ate she noticed a figure coming her way. The figure let out a cry as she stumbled to the ground. Maya food forgotten, moved swiftly to help the woman to find that the woman had fainted. The woman's hood had fallen back to reveal an tiny old lady.
Maya picked her up and carried her to where her meal sat waiting. She took the water skin from the bag and drizzled a small amount in to the old woman's mouth while she wet the woman's lips. The woman's eyes fluttered open as she gingerly sat up and off Maya's lap.
"Are you okay? Here is some more water for you. I have food as well to share." She motioned to the bread and apple that were lying near her satchel.
Fayri looked over the young woman before her with a smile. Such a nice young fae. She looked at the mark on the fae's neck with surprise. She was King Darious's mate. Such kindness from one stranger to another was rare and looking into the young woman's eyes she found a pure heart. Her eyebrows rose at that.
"Your Highness has a pure heart."
Maya stilled as she heard what the woman said. She shook her head. "No I am afraid you are mistaken ma'am. I have been through and see far to much cruelty to have a pure heart." She gave the old woman a small sad smile.
Fayri smiled back before dropping the subject. She knew a pure heart when she saw one. "In return for the meal and your help I will give you two things." She cast a spell on the girl before she could object. "Now you can understand and speak any language."
Maya's eyes widened as the old woman started to rise. "You will also find a great amount of help if you go through this wood." She gestured behind her. "Isn't that the Gimian Woods. What help can I find there?"Maya questioned in surprise.
The old elf chuckled. "A great deal of help in the war to come. You will need the creatures that dwell there's help. Let your heart be your guild and they will do the rest." With that Fayri bowed her head and walked down the road that would take her to the goblin city.
Maya watched as the old woman walked away. Shaking her head she realized that she never even caught the old woman's name. She stared at the dark forest before her. Well you only live once she thought as she walked in.
By the time that Sarah and Sir Didymus had gotten the chaos under control It was well into the evening. Sarah sighed as she flopped onto the chair in her beloved's chambers. Shaking her head lightly as it pounded viciously. "Is it always like that during council meetings?"
Sir Didymus shrug with a chuckle. His lady had finally had enough and he had gotten a good laugh as she had broken a young snotty general's nose. That finally had gotten through to the outraged fae that she wasn't playing around. After her show of temper things had settled down and they finally worked out a plan of attack.
Sarah growled lightly at her friend's amusement. She shook her head again while pinching the bridge of her nose for the umpteenth time. Her friends looked at her with sympathy. Hogules, Allilianna, and Nadine having returned from their missions.
She looked at her friends pleadingly. "PLEASE tell me you have good news!" Hogules was the first to speak. "The blacksmiths are working hard as we speak. They will need a list of the creatures in the goblin city so they can prepare armor for them but as far as dwarves, and fae they have that covered. The weapons are being prepared as well. Every blacksmith in every Kingdom is at hard work. If your theory is correct, the soldiers that have been placed at the portals will alert us when they come start to through."
Sarah shook her head. "I don't think that that will be good enough. I want to have our warriors in place before they get through. Nadine... Would you be willing to stand watch beyond portal of the Goblin City. It is near a park with in a wooded area. If you see anything suspicious I want you to return as quick as possible."
Nadine nodded. "I can do that. I will hide up in the trees so no one will see me. What am I to watch for?"
Sarah shook her head. "Screams, shouts, loud bangs, You will hear a multi-pitched noise as well." Nadine nodded. "I will leave right now if you wish it."
Sarah nodded before a thought struck her. "Take some food with you when you go. Simple stuff like bread and cheese, water too. I don't want you to be hungry on your watch. I will also send another warrior to spell you from time to time so you can get some rest."
"I will do it, my lady." Allilianna spoke up. "I want to be of more use to you than I can be here."
Sarah nodded. "Thank you for your support Lili. It is much appreciated." Sarah turned back to Hoggle. "Hoggle I want you to keep on those blacksmiths. The healers are to have armor as well. We can't afford to lose any of them." He nodded before turning to Allilianna "Can you give me a lift." She nodded and they winked out of sight. Nadine following close behind. Sarah watched as the shimmering lights faded.
"You are doing quite well, My Lady." Didymus said as he sent a scroll to the kitchens to have them bring up some food. "Sir Didymus please just call me Sarah. We are friends and I would be honored if you would just use my name."
A knock on the door cut off Didymus's response. "Enter."
The door opened to reveal Raidon. Sarah gave him a happy smile before slowly standing to her feet. She opened her arms and waited, not having the strength to walk since her feet were killing her. It had been a grueling day. Her father smiled and wrapped his arms around his little girl. "My generals informed me of your plan. I couldn't have come up with a better one myself. Have you tried to get though the high council chambers yet?"
She smiled and waved for her friend to tell her father what he had told her. Didymus stepped forward as she turned to sit back down. "I tried everything I know. Not only can I not read the energy signature but it is a sealing ward that is incredibly advanced. To break the seal could take weeks. Sarah advised that we not even try until the battle is over. We don't know how much time we have to work with here. As it stands she has already thought to station her hand maid and friend Nadine beyond the portal. She will report back if she sees anything amiss."
Raidon nodded his eyes shining with pride at his little girl. Not so little anymore though. She was all grown up. He couldn't be more proud. "What of Toby?" Sarah looked down placing a hand over her stomach. "He wanted to be adopted by Jareth and myself. The adoption occurred just before everything happened. I am sorry dad." She looked up at his resigned face.
"It's okay. I understand. I am just glad he is safe." Raidon sighed with regret. Sarah gasped her head snapping up as she thought of something she missed. Smacking her head she gasped "The CHILDREN! What are we going to do? The children have to be protected!"
"My sister's garden will provide ample protection, Sarah. We can send the children, and the elders who can not wield a weapon well anymore to the garden. There is ample fruit within it and we can have the baker's guilds of each kingdom bake up as much bread as they can to send with them. We can spell the bread so it won't turn bad. That should solve that problem while making the old ones feel useful."
Sarah nodded in relief. "Lets start the evacuation right now. Will you do it Sir Didymus?"
"On my honor Sarah, and call me Diagus. That is my real name." She smiled as he winked out of sight. She let out a cry of surprise as her father picked her up and carried her to the bed. "You need to sleep sweet-heart. How long have you been up?"
She looked up at her father with a sheepish guilty expression on her face. She yawned. "Since this first began."
He father growled "That was two days ago young lady. You get some rest. I will take care of things while you do." Sarah nodded half asleep already. Raidon leaned down and kissed his daughter's forehead before turning and winking out of sight.
Maya completely forgotten.
Maya stopped running as she heard a wolf's howl. Tipping her head back she let one of her own loose in response. She grinned as she heard multiple howls echoing through the dark woods. She turned and headed toward them.
She found a small clearing a let out another howl than waited. Turns out she didn't have to wait long before the clearing was over run with huge wolves. To her surprise the largest one turned into a human.
He stalked up close to her and she tilted her head to the side grinning, not realizing that she showed her mark to the wolves. "I didn't realize that werewolves really existed" She chuckled in happiness as the human smiled at her showing a row of straight yet very sharp teeth.
"You are most welcome to our pack little sister. I am Fean, second in command. How is our alpha, little sister? It has been a half a moon since last we saw of him." The pack shifted and she was surrounded by men and women sniffing at her skirts and her hair. Growling in pleasure at her scent. She smiled at Fean before frowning at his question.
"My mate has disappeared along with the rest of the high family. The high council is trapped within the high council chambers and war is coming. I have taken up a search for allies as I travel to the dragon's mountain."
" I will go with you little sister." He growled low as he looked to the rest of the pack. "Keadum, you are to gather the other packs. Let them know that war is coming and it is time to have some fun." He crowed "Were do you want us to meet little sister?" He asked as he looked down at her. She grinned before turning to the black haired man. "Keadum, tell the packs to go to the Goblin City. Ask for Lady Sarah or Sir Didymus. Also tell Lady Sarah that Maya sent you."
Keadum howled as the she and the pack joined in. Grinning he transformed back into his wolf form as the others followed suit. They took off running. She smiled happily as she turned back to Fean. "Shall we?" He nodded before transforming back into his huge wolf form. He growled as he leaned down. 'Get on little sister.'
Her eye's widened as she understood what he said. The old woman wasn't kidding when she said that the spell would let her understand and speak any language. She gave a yip and a series of growls as she got on his back her hands sinking into his soft yet course fur. "Who else in this wood can we count as allies?"
'The woodland elves and the pixies might help. The dark elves might be willing as well. I know where they are however we could be risking our lives with the dark elves. They are not friendly with outsiders.'
She growled back as they started to run"Let us start with the dark elves than big brother."
A/N: "Well that's that for this chapter! What is going to happen next? Who knows?"
Elizabeth raises her hand before putting it slowly back down at the sight of my glare. "You asked..." She pouted before slinking of to the corner.
I sigh before rolling my eyes. "We have been over this. I was asking our fans, not you! Of course you know what is going to happen you are my muse."
She smiles than grins. "Please, pretty please leave a review at the door."
"Hey that's my line!"
