DISCLAIMER: Not mine, sadly… no matter what I try. So, (dramatically drawn out) to the sandbox raiding I shall go! Again!

NOTE#1: I know it is tiresome to hear but I have been dealing with a exceptionally hard death, the death of my nephew. He was the same age as my son and a death of one so young… it was ice cold and rainy the day we buried him. Guess who got sick. Yes. Me. 3 medicines and 7 days in and I still sound like a honking goose! (I know, I know. I should have immediately went to the doctor) So I wish to thank each and everyone of you who has waited patiently. (V) I have rewritten these last chapters over and over and over and now I think I'm happy. I've never had such a hard time with a rough draft before. My patient friend has encouraged and talked me through a lot and I dedicate this chapter to her, V. AND, as always thanks goes out to the favs, alerts and reviews, air huggs!

REMINDER: Since it has been so long since the last Chapter, (Stands with hands behind back, head bowed as I kick at imaginary rocks with my foot)...Dean was shocked when Cas popped in and popped back out with Sam, I believe his exact words were "Son of a bitch!" Now ONward we go! Smile dudes... ettes.

Chapter 19

Sam stood glaring at the devil standing behind the bar pouring himself some whiskey. He wished he could just end the devil and be done with it. But no he was stuck here and Dean was going to be pissed when he figured it out.

Lucifer looked up and smiled at Sam.

Sam quickly looked away to glance from where the angel disappeared to him and back again.

"He appeared to be in a rush. Shame really. The three of us could have had some fun." He chuckled at the look Sam leveled at him and continued, "Anyways, I didn't think your brother would actually allow you to go through with this little pow-wow." The devil ended with a smirk directed at him before Lucifer slung back the shot and poured another.

"Did you really come all this way just to talk about my brother?" Sam snapped as he stepped forward and slid onto a stool at the bar.

Lucifer continued to smile as he pulled over another shot glass and wiped it out with his shirt tail. He poured Sam a shot and slid it forward.

Sam arched an eyebrow before picking up the glass. He then very deliberately dumped the contents over his shoulder without taking his eyes off Lucifer. As he smacked the shot glass back onto the bar Lucifer once again graced him with a smile as he downed another shot.

Then he shrugged before he piped up, "Your loss. They don't make it like they used to."

"Rotgut?" Sam questioned with a raised eyebrow as he studied the devil, just what was he up to? What did he hope to gain actually showing up? He himself was slightly surprised at the devil's appearance. He'd never really expected the devil to show. He'd figured they'd play it out in the city the devil declared would be where his life would end. Lucifer had been so sure of himself. It seemed inevitable at the time. Dean was the only one that kept insisting that it wouldn't 'go down' that way.

Lucifer laughed as he studied Sam. The boy just kept on surprising him. He would be a nice change… once he was wearing him.

Sam glared back waiting for Lucifer to make his next move.

Lucifer tilted his head as he continued to study Sam while he told him, "Sammy you really should have taken my offer. All your enemies would have burned…"

"Yeah." Sam replied with a snort of disgust, " Right along with the world. And it's Sam."

"Sam…" Lucifer drawled out with a smile and a raised glass. "Would that really be so bad?" He asked with a quirk of the eyebrow. "It's pretty fucked up. The world I mean… the remaining ones would rebuild, there's always that…." He paused. "Look what Noah was able to do."

"Really… that's your motivational speech?" His asked with a voice dripping with sarcasm. "How long did it take you to come up with that?" Sam continued as he noticed Lucifer's face turn pinkish.

"Samuel. You really need to think more before you speak. You can be quite vexing." Lucifer declared after he downed another shot.

Sam stood and braced himself on the bar before he leaned forward to ask, "I thought we were here to make a deal… not bullshit about nothing until hell freezes over."

Lucifer stared at Sam a few seconds before he laughed out loud. Finally he sobered enough to say, "I told you we already had a meeting all lined up, so why here? Why now?"

Now we get down to business… Sam thought before stating firmly as he stood to full height. "I'm here to keep my brother and my friends alive."

Lucifer looked mildly interested.

"I want you to leave Dean and Bobby alone for good. They are off limits."

"And just what do you plan on offering me to insure this? What would be so tempting…"

"Me." Sam interrupted.

"You?" Lucifer said with a smile, "All wrapped up in a pretty bow on a platter… why? You have been fighting me for… well… ages." He finished with a shrug.

"Like I said, this is about Dean. I could care less what happens to me. You make sure no one… and I do mean no one, thing or demon makes a deal with him… and when he dies… after living a full life… no ticket to hell waits for him. He gets an express ride to his heaven. And that goes for Bobby as well."

Lucifer stared at him.

Sam ground his teeth in frustration before he snapped, "Well do we have a deal?"

Lucifer finally smiled before he asked, "You really think I can do all that?" Lucifer sat down his glass, intently studying him as he continued, "I'm flattered… really… but Sammy I don't…"

"It's Sam… after this is over… you can call me anything you want." Sam told Lucifer firmly.

"No."

Sam looked at him in shock. "No?"

"No." Lucifer repeated, a smirk returned by the frozen expression on Sam's face.

"Why the hell not?" Sam growled after several seconds of stunned silence.

"Because you know what a pain in the ass your brother is. He wouldn't stop trying to get you away from me and Bobby would help him."

"That won't be a problem." Sam declared and at the look of disbelief from Lucifer added, "You and me will have plenty of alone time. Dean won't be able to interfere." Sam finish with a solid stare directed at Lucifer, as he silently willed him to agree.

"You're really going to stay here with me?" Lucifer asked softly as his eyes narrowed to study his body language.

After what seemed an eternity to Sam the bastard decided to say something. Thank God he didn't have to worry about Dean coming into the town and stopping him from saving his family. Sam answered firmly, "Yes."

"Voluntarily?" Lucifer asked with a frown.

"Yes." Sam repeated.

Lucifer studied him for a while longer. It just seemed too easy and usually that meant there a trick up someone's sleeve. Namely a Winchester sleeve. "Just where is dear big brother?"

"Not here." Sam said as he stated the obvious. "He's… detained for the foreseeable future." Sam added with a tilt to his head.

"Really?" Lucifer asked with some degree of skepticism. "And pray tell how did you manage that feat?" he further commented.

"It doesn't matter. Do we have a deal or not?" Sam asked crankily.

"Not." Lucifer couldn't help but say. It was so much fun watching little Sammy squirm.

"You know, your kinda pissing me off here." Sam muttered in frustration. "I mean…" He continued loudly, "You been tryin' to get under my skin for awhile now and here I'm handing you the keys and your not taking them."

Lucifer studied him for a few moments before he told him honestly, "I feel like it's a trick and I'm not ready to fall for it."

Sam puckered his face up in frustration before he shrugged and turned to walk away.

"Where do you think you're going?" Lucifer snapped, instantly irate.

"We are done." Sam enunciated each word slowly. "You made your decision. There is no need for me to jack around here any longer." Sam told him without turning back to him.

"What? No…" The devil stuttered out, flustered at the change of conversation, "I was ne-go-she-a-tin kid… where's your sense of humor?" Lucifer exaggerated the word as he quirked a smile at Sams' back.

Sam looked over his shoulder to give him a somber expression before he started to walk away.

Lucifer lunged over the top of the bar and grabbed the back of Sam's shirt. Pulling them both back against the bar.

"Lucy, what? Not ready to say goodbye?" He joked, trying to emulate Dean. "Your immutability is amusing considering what you are."

"I find it amusing that you think I'm incapable of change. I find that I am also getting un-amused rather quickly." Lucifer declared bitingly.

Sam jerked away and took two steps toward the door before he turned back to face Lucifer, "I'm leaving now, since we've got nothing left to discuss." Turning away once again, he concealed the smile that would have antagonized Lucifer even more.

Lucifer roared in rage as he once again lunged after Sam. He was winning this. Period. The time for games was over.
