(A/N) . . . well I'm back! Took me long enough though Xd
so first off I will say that I am sorry for taking so long on this one guys but in my defence I will say that A: my beta is very busy right now and B: this one is way longer than usual :P but because of that and the fact that my beta has not finished going through my copy yet there are probably a decent amount of spelling errors and such so sorry for that :I but with that aside I bring you chapter 3!
From afar I look at him and examine him, looking on as he does his work. I have been watching him for some time now and now know that it is him, he is the one that needs my help and guidance for I feel that a second coming of darkness will spread across the lands again, forcing this young blue dragon to take up the burning torch from purple paws and take on a great responsibility. And only time will tell if he is capable of such a thing, but I have confidence and know he will do well for if I don't then who will?
He awoke in the darkness with one single objective in mind 'find Cynder', with what energy he had he raised himself off the bed determined to complete his one last goal, because if anything he wanted to see her and he wanted to now. Slowly he stepped of the shallow bed only to be hit with the stench of death, blood, his senses heightened and he was on edge. All he could see was the inky blackness of the dark from which no light penetrated, as frightened as he was he still moved on determined to find her, but why? He did not know, he just had this overwhelming urge to see her again, he walked through the darkness wishing for there to be light again, but still darkness remained. While walking he heard the sound of a door opening and blinding light was forced upon him, he froze still trying to look into the light. At first all he seen was a brilliant white light but slowly his vision returned, first there was a black blob in the light but as his vision cleared it slowly revealed the form of a dragon,
at first all he could make out what was the basic form of the dragon, but within moments his vison cleared revealing a dragoness he had never seen before.
her scales where a cold metallic blue while her underbelly was straight gleaming silver, she had three long spikes of ivory growing out from the top left, top right and center of her head, but they were small, they only reached the length of her neck, but what was expected of such a young dragoness? And while Spyro had noticed all this there was one thing in particular that caught his attention. It was her eyes, her eyes where nothing but a ring of black and blood red pupils that shone through the dark, and while he was taking this all in he failed to notice that she was now right in front of him, it took her words to break him from his trance
"Y-y-you're up?" she stammered surprised that he was out of bed, he had been sleeping for nearly a week, and it came as a great surprise that he was up now of all times. But Spyro on the other had had just taken note of how close she was and backed up a step or two
"Don't worry I won't hurt you" she pleaded
"Who are you?" he asked almost viciously
"My name is Luna, and I was the one that helped save you a Cynder's lives" Just then he remembered his one simple goal
"I need to see her now" he demanded with an unusual urgency, she paused for a moment looking down at the floor
"Are you sure that you're up to it?" she said eyeing his healing scars
"I don't care" she nodded her head
"Very well then, follow me" and with that they exited the room in search of the mysterious black dragoness
There was absolute silence in the room, the only sound that filled this place was the soft turning of pages from a large book occupied by a black dragoness, the title of said book was "The holy book of legends and myths: volume 1" she turned another page to reveal another one filled with more glorious text imbued with knowledge, Cynder spent most of her time here now reading books and occasionally writing something in her journal that she bought from a vendor, and for the past two days she had been reading this same book, she was captivated by its myths, legends and lore. She having never grown up knowing such a thing as religion existed was starting to believe in what the book was telling her, slowly she was being converted by both the guardians and this book that she loves so deeply. At this current moment she was reading about the four main ancestors of fire, ice, earth and lightning. So far she had learned that Jade, the ancestor of fire was the one who brought the teachings of their religion to the early peoples of the lands, but that was as far as she got before the door opened and heard her name being called, by someone familiar. Looking up she seen the last person she expected it to be, it was Spyro
"Spyro! You're awake!" she said with a large grin on her face, she was starting to believe that he would never awake, but those sickly thoughts quickly faded when she seen him. Spyro was happy to see her as well but his smile faded when he seen the large scar that ran along her side, it was still red but compared to before it was a large improvement, still though to Spyro it was daunting to think that you would need to live with that mark on you for your whole life, but when he seen her smile he just forgot about everything, without even waiting another second she came running for him, and when she reached him she knocked him over in a playful tackle, now Cynder had Spyro pinned down and their faces where only but a short distance away, they stared at each other for a moment remembering just how lucky they were to have lived, but suddenly Cynder grabbed Spyro and hugged him has hard as she could, Spyro returned the favour and hugged her back just as tightly, they were both very satisfied with the moment and probably would have stayed like that for some time, but unfortunately for them all good things must come to an end, and it so happens a certain blue dragoness was the creator of such an event
"I see you two missed each other" she said with a smirk standing by the doorway, and within less than a second Cynder was off Spyro and back on her feet with a slight blush, but Spyro still lay there hungering for her warmth, he caught himself there, why did he hunger for her warmth? That was a question he had no answer to. He continued to ponder this, and while he still had no answer he knew for a fact that he felt something he had never before at that moment… what could it be?
"Umm Spyro… Why are you still on the floor?" at hearing this he was brought back to reality, and with a single fluent motion he was on his paws again
"Sorry… I just sort of spaced out there" he said in his defence, Cynder just laughed a bit
"Strange of all the people I know you seemed like the one least likely to 'space out'" she said questioningly
"So what's on your mind then?"
"You" he blurted out, this caused laughter form Cynder and Luna and he instantly regretted saying anything "I-i-I mean, you know, like…" he let out a sigh and hug his head in shame defeated
"Not that good with the words are you today Spyro?" said Cynder with a bright smile, Spyro nodded in acceptance
"Don't worry I know what you mean" she said playfully still laughing a bit
"You do?"
"Well I know you probably have a hundred and one questions flowing through your mind right now like I did when I first came to" he would have liked to correct himself didn't even know the answer to such a question, so he remained silent
"Sorry to ruin the moment guys but we need to be going, there a meeting going on and I think it would be best if the guardians knew that you where awake" Cynder let out a moan of frustration
"Do we really need to? Lest time we did nothing but hear them ramble on and on about the rules of this city" she said annoyingly, Luna just rolled her eyes
"Well I can't force you to but they did mention that this one was about something very important, I think it would be a good idea to attend this time" she said striding out the glass doors of the library, once she left Cynder looked over at Spyro
"You think we should go?" she asked
"Well… ya, like she said the guardians should know that I'm awake, and this one is supposedly very important" Cynder let out a sigh
"Fine, I guess it wouldn't kill me if I went to one more. Besides you'll be there this time" and with that done they too left the library leaving it completely empty and devoid of life.
He sat looking into the mirror gazing at his eyes, his slowly dulling eyes, what where once bright eyes where now slowly dulling, for about a week now they had been, he didn't know why or how this was happening but he knew it was. And that frightened him, and even though it looked like he was becoming blind he in fact was not, his sight was actually improving, he seemed to be able to see things he never could before, but the strange part was that he had no idea what he was seeing sometimes, he swore he seen a beam of energy zip past him last night, over all he was slowly beginning to accept his fate he knew that there was probably no way to fix what had been done so he was now just mentally preparing himself for what would happen, just then there was a knock on the door and a feminine voice spoke out
"Donavan don't forget the meeting today okay?" said what could only be Luna behind the door
"Okay" he replied still looking at himself, three moments passed before he decided it be best to get going, so he turned away from the mirror and headed for the door, but just before leaving he took one last good look at himself in the mirror before heading out the door hoping no one noticed his eyes.
The room was dead silent as the dragons it where waiting for their remaining kin, time passed slowly for them all as they sat and waited in silence, those who were in the room currently where the guardians, Zell, Cyth and Jax. All six of them waiting patiently for the rest to arrive, after some time of waiting Zell spoke up grabbing everyone's attention
"Can we just start this meeting already?" he asked
"Like I said before Zell, not until the rest are here, they must all hear this too" it was the same answer as last time, Zell was about to initiate his rebuttal but the doors opened up revealing four dragons who entered the meeting hall, among them as expected where Cynder, Luna and Donavan but it was a surprise to everyone when they seen Spyro standing before them, Spyro was equally surprised to see everyone else, as he looked around he see more dragons than he had in his whole life. His heart started to race, he was not used to being around so many people at once and as a result his anxiety rose, he nervously strode towards the shallow table and sat himself beside Cynder
"Spyro Your awake!" said Volteer in his expected cheerful tone
"This is simply marvellous!" Spyro was about to say something but Terrador beat him to it
"Have you reported to the infirmary?" he asked
"No, but I feel fine" Terrador paused for a second wondering if he should send him there or not
"Come on we haven't got all day here let's just get this over with" said Zell angered that he was stuck in this boring room, he wanted nothing more than to go about his own business at this point, Terrador let out a sigh
"Very well then let us begin this meeting"
X-X
'Well this is going to be boring' I thought as I sat at the table, after a moment of silence Terrador spoke up again thankfully starting the meeting
"Take a look around you, How many of us are there?" it was a strange question But I did it anyways, there was Spyro, Cynder, Jax, Cyth, Luna and the now three guardians. Including me that wound make nine of us
"As you can see there aren't many of us left here in Warfang… and that is because of a grave mistake we guardians made, about one year ago after realising that Warfang would most likely not survive another heavy assault we sent out three groups of dragons in hopes of perhaps finding a new home or maybe even a new allies. Our plan worked out at first, the reports were coming in every month and they all had lost almost no lives, all seemed good. But that was only for the moment, within three days two of our three parties fell to the Grublin hordes" he stopped talking for a moment as if trying to recall something
"The last report we had received from the last remaining party said that they were surrounded by the Grublins from the east, south and west" hmmm if they were only trapped by the east, south and west why not go north?
"If they were trapped only by east, south and west then why not go north?" I asked a bit perplexed as to why they didn't go north in the first place
"Because Zell the mountain range of Gia lay there" he said a bit surprised
"But that still makes no sense? Why not just fly over it?"
"Because it was said by our ancestors to never go beyond the protective walls that very mountain range, not only that but beyond it for as far as the eye can there is nothing but barren desert, you should know that best" what fools would obey such a stupid rule in the face of sudden annihilation? Even I would go back out there if I needed to
"So your telling me even though they had a way out they didn't go because of what some 'gods' told them?" Terrador's face went from calm to enraged in the fraction of a second
"Well it was those 'Gods' who created you did they not? They have provided for you this land how could you talk about them in such ways?" I chuckled to myself, how could these people be so naive?
"There's no proof they made any of this" I said calmly
"So why believe in any of it? Especially if that means dyeing because of some stupid law set in place by them from what I guess is a very long time ago" this was almost too easy of an argument, I knew what he would say next in his defence. He was going to say that his holy book justifies all of this… oh god he is just so predictable
"Because the book of legends is a direct writing of their teachings, it is said that they themselves wrote it" just as I expected
"That's just it, 'It is said' what defines that as fact? There are no first had accounts of this so who knows it wasn't just some ordinary dragon who wrote it for fun. For all we know it could be nothing more than a story" now he was steaming mad, you could see it just by looking at his eyes. Why are they such fools?
"For the sake of this meeting can we just please ignore this and continue on?" the voice speaking was Luna who sat across from he, hmm I guess she is one of the few here who is with me on this matter
"… You are right, let us continue" said Terrador trying his absolute hardest to let the matter go but you could obviously tell he had a hard time doing that
"Continuing on, after we got that letter we sent out a single scout to look for them, we were expecting him to report the obvious but instead he told us he could find no trace of them, this for us gave us hope but still we had our doubts so we sent a scout once every week to look for then but even after that there were no traces of them at all." He paused as if regretting what he was about to say next
"We have come to the conclusion that they must have fled… beyond the mountain ranges to the north" a smile came to my lips, at least some people have some common sense
"But how can that be? Why would they defy one of the sacred commandments?" this time Cynder spoke up, sad and to think I was starting to like her.
"That we do not know but one thing is unfortunately true, if they are the last of us we need them back here within the city walls, even if it means defying the first law" the first law? Never heard of that before…
"Wait what do you mean by the first law?" this time it was Spyro who spoke, strange I thought for sure the guardians would have poisoned his mind with their teachings, but I guess I was wrong… should I jump in and give him a sense of direction or should I let them do their work and convert him, oh the choices. Which one is best? Looking at the guardians also made it clear that they had not told him a thing, their distressed faces told it all
"The first law Spyro is to never leave our sacred lands" said Cynder after a moment of silence, he nodded and they continued on with their speech, obviously trying to put that moment in the past as quickly as possible
"Anyways continuing on" said Cyril
"Our plan of action is at most a last ditch effort" this sparked my curiosity, Cyril admitting to that? We must be in a very bad situation then if it has come to this
"We plan on sending you all out to find them…" Wait what? They plan on sending US out there to find them in the middle of a desert? There's no way in hell I'm going back out there. I could tell I wasn't the only one angered by this, I could practically feel the anger emanating off everyone… except Spyro, strange out of everyone here he was the only one who seem at the very least a bit curious as to what that desert had to offer, too bad it's full of death… and I know all my friends would agree with me on that
"So you're not only expecting us to break the first law but also send us back to that death trap of a desert, How can you expect us to even consider that?" said Cyth for the first time speaking up
"And next to that we just finished a fucking WAR here!" wow she really sounded pissed this time . . . funny it's always the quietest ones that speak with the most meaning
"We haven't finished anything!" said Cyril jumping in
"Even if we have defeated the dark master that does not mean that his minions are still loyal to him, for all we know what remains of his army could be massing at our gates any day now" . . . he was right, we haven't finished anything quite yet unfortunately
"What are you saying?" replied Cyth now with a look of grief plastered on her face, she probably wasn't going to like what was to come next
"What I am saying Cyth is that we are still at war, and very much so" she closed her eyes.
"Damn it" she cursed under her breath in defeat
"Where you all really not surprised by that?" said Jax
"Because to be honest the fighting will never stop, not for a long while at least" . . . 'why must your words be so true?'
"Continuing on track though" Said Volteer in an attempt to change the subject, for the most part it worked and grabbed everyone's attention
"We may have dumped an extremely large load of information on you today but know this, we do not expect you to leave anytime soon for this. In fact we want to wait a good while before we do anything" then when are we going?
"Then when are we going?" said Spyro voicing my thoughts, Volteer hesitated for a moment
"To be honest I do not know… but I can assure you it won't be for a long time" hm should I even tell them what's out there? Because I don't think they have even SEEN what's out there… it's a miracle that even us five made it here… we lost a lot of people just trying to cross that desert
"So with that finally aside is there anything anyone would like to add to this meeting?" asked Volteer scanning the room, no one spoke up they were all too angry to even speak
"Then you should all go get some rest" said Terrador quickly standing up and heading for the door
The second I left the meeting room I felt my mind revert and give me full control again, I mentally cursed myself for letting… it take control again, now more often than not I was losing the battle against some part of my mind, it was hard to describe what it was that was changing me but all I knew is that whatever it was it was changing the way I think and act. And like myself it seemed to have a clear distaste for the religion I was almost force fed, and while I may not be able to communicate with this thing I could hear it sometimes… and from what little I could make of it I knew it knows more about my past than I do, whatever this thing is I can only hope it tells me more.
X-X
Everyone left miserable, everyone except Spyro that is, the young dragon was very curious of the desert and wished to know more. But aside from him everyone else completely detested the Idea of going back out there, all for different reasons. But mainly for the fear some had of the place, it was one of the most unhospitable lands ever known by dragon kind . . . for those who dared break the first law and survive that is, and the only ones to do that in known history where the five in Warfang at that moment, they had lost some of their friends crossing that desolate expanse. They had reason to be angry especially when the three remaining guardians got to sit back while they do the dirty work and betray one of the sacred rules put in place by their ancestors, and the one most offended by such a thing would be Cynder, after growing very religious in the time she spent in Warfang she sees this as a fate worse than death itself, currently she lay in her bed praying to the ancestors for some way out of her situation. But while she was doing so Spyro was out looking for her, after having gotten some direction to the whereabouts of her room from Luna he set off, he still wanted to talk to her. After all he had probably only seen her for about a minute before being interrupted by the meeting, so with that the young purple dragon set out to find that unmistakable black dragoness, wordlessly he trotted through the elegantly decorated hallways filled with everything from paintings to antique furniture that seemed to add a sort of elegance to the place. But in short it just made it feel like home, a feeling that Spyro himself had not felt for a very long time, but he didn't mind. If there was one thing he knew he loves it would be the open road and the wind, he still yearned to be out in the vast natural expanse of the valley but he knew he had a very vital role to play in this city so he knew that he was bound here for what could be some time, and he accepted that.
As he walked on absentmindedly he nearly missed Cynder's door, and he only just noticed it out of the corner of his eye, now he stay staring at the silver lined door, the only reason he had not walked off was because of the silver lining that caught his eye, it was a custom to have the doors of an academy such as this one be fitted with something that was a visual representation of that dragons element, and as far as Spyro knew Cynder's was the only one colored silver, but it did matcher almost perfectly.
"And as the hero was before the gates of hell" The voice rang out breaking the silence and unnerving Spyro a great deal, for two reasons. Looking to his side he seen what he remembered as Zell the grey dragon to the left of him with a smirk on his face
"Oh sorry I forgot you could hear me" he said still smirking
"So what are you doing here anyways? It's not like anyone to disturb her right now, after all she probably praying to her 'gods' right now anyways" Spyro was confused, never in his life had he ever really been introduced to the concepts of religion, all he really knew about it was that there were four ancestors and that first law was to never leave his homelands, that was the extent of his knowledge but he did have a want for more, he found what he knew to be interesting
"What's praying?" He bluntly asked with a look of confusion written all over his face, Zell looked at him with disbelief
"Really? The very head figure of their Religion doesn't even know what prayer is?! Wow does this ever give me whole new ground to argue the fact over with that old earth dragon" said Zell musing over his thoughts a bit while Spyro still lay waiting for an answer, it didn't take long for Zell to figure that out
"So you really don't know, hm well do you want my bias opinion or the real thing?" Spyro froze for a second, given what Spyro had seen at the meeting he probably wanted the 'real' thing
"How about your none bias opinion" Spyro replied
"Okay I'll tell you them both" and before the purple dragon could argue he started his explanation
"Praying is the act of in our case talking with the gods either for thanks or for the hope of changing something or even to say, make a wish" he said in a logical tone
"But if you ask me it's all lies, half the things they make you do are just 'horrible' "he said the last part with a clear hatred, but all that did was grab Spyro's attention. He wanted to know more and the one question he was asking was 'what horrible things?' but unfortunately for him his answer would half to wait for Cynder who was secretly listening to then behind her door was outraged by what he said, so she acted accordingly and burst out of her room giving them both a scare
"How dare you talk about them like that?" she said with such a hate and malice that even Zell was taken of guard and jumped a little when she yelled it at him, but he quickly recovered
"Oh what you mean those imaginary fools?" he said just has hatful as she had
"I told you to stop!" Shouted Cynder taking an offensive step forward
"You know I don't understand how you people even believe in such things, can't you see that believing in such a thing has only lead to bloodshed and death?" Cynder quickly gave her opinion on such a fact
"Those thousand deserved to die!"
"Why? Was it because they crossed that desert and broke your first fucking rule!" there was a wary silence that filled the air, they both stare each other down waiting for the other to talk, Zell was the first to reply
"Not only that but your religion killed every other sentient being that lived in these lands and for what? Just because they didn't believe in your preaching's, hell you wouldn't even be the last shadow dragon left possibly in this world if it wasn't for that horrible book of yours. Thousands have died because of the words written in that book of yours and for what I will ask again WHAT!" Cynder instead of continuing the argument she just stood there with a look of defeat on her face
"While that may be true, they all still deserved it. And that's because they all where against us, and as it was said we shall take this land and shape into the visions of our ancestors, in fact you yourself stand against that word" Zell instantly knew what she was talking about and he to became very serious
"How can I be? After all I may be the last of a dying breed, so just by existing that gives me meaning. So don't even try and say that, besides I am glad that I stand against that word" and with that he walked away leaving the very confused Spyro and angered Cynder alone once again, the first to speak was Spyro
"Cynder" he started
"What was that all about?" he asked looking at her with a very concerned face, Cynder herself was a bit surprised when he asked that question, she was told from the very start that the purple dragon was born with the knowledge
"Because, he goes against everything that we stand for" now Spyro was even more confused, what did she mean by 'we'? So he bluntly asked the question
"What do you mean by 'we'?" now Cynder was staring at him with a fear in her eyes
"You do believe in the word of our ancestors right Spyro?" Spyro looked away from her piercing gaze with a sort of guiltiness, in truth he did not know if he did or not. He knew next to nothing about the ancestors so really he was just too under informed to make a decision
"I…. I don't know Cynder, in truth I am all just so confused about all of this that I really just don't understand anymore" Cynder was awestruck at his words, to her she always thought that he knew all there was to know about the ancestors just as the book of legends had said
"How is this possible?" she told herself
"But you're supposed to know everything there is about them, I was even hoping for you to teach about them" Spyro Just looked at her more confused than he had ever been in his life, no one had ever told him anything about this
"But I don't" he told her flat out
"But that doesn't mean I don't want to learn it" Cynder looked back up at him
"I would actually like it if you could teach me about this, after all I don't think we have really had any time to talk up until now"
"Yea we haven't" she turned to look at her silver lined doors and paused for a moment
"Want to come in?" she asked gesturing to the door with a black paw
"I'd love to"
X-X
Again I sat in front of the mirror looking at my changing eyes, I could notice the difference already they had become even duller, I took a step back
'What is becoming of me?' I asked myself as I closed my eyes, frustration was setting in. All my life I wanted nothing more than to just live it peacefully and whatever was happening to me was an obvious sign that what I hoped for would not be happening any time soon, so I turned my thoughts back to my own question, what is becoming of me?
'Something of great potential young one' I quickly opened my eyes and looked around my room, who was talking?
'Only a humble spirit' my heart started beating faster, who's talking?!
'As I said before I am but a humble spirit' I turned around to where I thought I heard the voice coming from, and as I do instantly regret doing so, before me stood a spectral figure which seemed to illuminate the room in a soft white light, I was frozen with a mixture of fear and awe, who or what was this… thing?
'My name not important at this moment, but you may call me Alow' the ghostly figure stepped closer to me
'And right now I need to show you something' now she was within striking distance of me. Normally I would have run off but for some reason the figure in front of me seemed so . . . familiar and liked yet so, hated. My feelings felt like a swirling mix of confusion, but before I could contemplate it anymore she placed her transparent paw on mine and when she did my vision flashed and a searing pain struck my eyes causing me to recoil in pain, when I opened my eyes I found myself looking in the mirror again and was purely shocked at what I seen. My eyes they were… emitting a sort of white glowing mist from the edges, what was happening to me? What did she do to me?!
'I simply sped up a natural process' I look back to where she was about to voice my anger but yet another strange thing occurred, what was once just a hollow form was now seemingly more real than ever, she was what appeared to be an ice dragoness with her teal scales and a deep navy blue underbelly. 'Wow' I thought as I looked her over again, she was beautiful. Suddenly she started grinning
'Thanks' she said happily
'It's been a long time since anyone ever told that to me' wait what did she mean by all that? I haven't said a thing
'Well that because I can see into your mind… Donavan' she can what? How is that even possible? And how does she know my name?
'I already told you, it's because I can see into your mind' panic started to creep into me, so she can look through my mind a see anything and everything she wants? And hear every thought I have?
'Yes I can, but don't worry. I would never defile another dragons mind, I find that to be just horrible' my panic eased a bit but still if she was in my mind at this moment it still sort of freaked me out
'If you don't want me in your mind then just say so I will respect your wishes' . . .
'Then can you please… leave?' I asked her mentally
'If you wish' as she finished speaking I felt… something change inside of me but trying to describe it would be nearly impossible, the closest thing I could describe it as would be a feeling of loss
"Is this better?" she said actually talking for the first time
". . . Ya" I simply replied to stunned by what just transpired to even formulate a proper response
"Good" she stated
"Now. I guess your teeming with questions, so feel free to ask because we have a long road ahead of us and I think it be best if we understand each other" she was right I am full of questions, so what better question to ask than the obvious
"Well." I stopped not quite sure how to word my question properly
"What exactly are you?" I asked bluntly still unable to completely understand what had just happened
"Me, well I guess the closest thing you can call me is a lost soul" she replied somewhat sadly
"But then again I wouldn't have it any other way, after all I was always the odd one out so I guess my years of solitude weren't so bad. Besides I got you to talk to now and I find that more than enough" her words struck me with a sense of understanding, like I knew what she was talking about but then again I look back at my life and realise that I may not be the most well received person I was never alone like what I would imagine she might have been. But regardless I still felt like I knew her pain
"So, you got any more questions?" in fact I actually do
"What exactly is a lost soul?" "She smiled a bit
"Well that was more of a figure of speech, all I really am is what remains of me. A soul" I nodded my head in agreement, I found it funny. Every time I she answers a question I just form more in my head, looks like I will be up all night with… Alow if I remembered properly
"If that's true, then why are you here? Why are you showing yourself to me?" as I spoke she got up and moved her way to my bed and sat down, from her new seat she looked at me for a long while thinking, whatever she was going to say was probably going to be important then…
"Because Donavan you are… with a gift most others don't have. In fact you are the second last dragon alive with it, the other would be Cyth if that's her name. I probably would have shown myself to her too but well she's… to be blunt almost lost her mind"
"Wait so you know what's happening to me and Cyth!?" she nodded her head
"Yes, and because I'm guessing you want to know just what is happening to you and her I will tell you" she looked past me out what I guess was the window
"You have for whatever reason gained the ability to see what most can't, you can now see past the barrier of reality and with that power you can see me, just as Cyth can" she paused
"But for now that is as far as your powers span, for now that is but with practice you can improve and learn new ability's" my what now?
"So you're saying that I and Cyth have these special powers?" I asked looking questioningly at her
"Right?"
"Well, to sum it up ya that's all right. But then again there's more I need to tell you, But that can wait I think you and I deserve some sleep, I for one have not for years" and with that said she lay her head down on my bed and fell asleep, almost doing so instantly. I was about to wake her and tell her that It was my bed she was sleeping in, but why do that? She seemed so peaceful. . . I guess I will take the floor today. I lay down on the floor next to the bed and close my eyes but before sleep took me I just revise all of what has just happened in the last few hours. . . not only am I at some point going back to that horrid desert where their lay nothing but a vast empty expanse of death. And adding to that I have a being who could probably if she wanted to kill me in my sleep, that or she plans of using me for something, I open my eyes and look back up at here, if only I could know as fact if she was on my side in all of this…
"Do you think we could possibly ever recreate such a thing master Terrador? We may be skilled engineers but this… this goes even beyond our standards" said the mole looking over the document I had written him
"I know as a fact you can create this, your budget is unlimited and I will be placing all of our finest mechanics in your command." I said trying to reason with Dom, because if there was one Mole who could make this it would be him
"I know I know but I am only skilled in engineering and this requires more than that, and I did not get a degree in magic studies" he said looking up at me, his black eyes staring at me
"Then I will find you someone with the needed skill, like I said Dom you can have almost anything you need for this project, I am giving you all that Warfang has to offer right now." Dom just shook his head in anger
"Fine master Terrador I will accept this contract, but I need you to know that this is not an easy task. I will require time and lots of it"
"Unfortunately for you Dom time is one resource we do not have an abundance of, I will give you what time I can" I turn around and begin walking away down the long and dark corridor that was decorated with a many fine paintings
"And what if I can't finish this on your desired deadline?" I stopped and turned my head around to look at him as he sat in his chair, face illuminated by a lone burning candle
"Then you will to be blamed when our fine city burns to ashes, you and I both know they are out for vengeance and if we are left defenceless and out of the required resources to properly function then all will be lost" I said as he looked at me with his black eyes full of confusion
"But I thought you and the other Guardians drove them out ages hence?" he said with his voice full of confusion
"Not only that but all the events that have happened in the last while left me shaken and greatly confused, please tell me master Terrador, explain to me what exactly has happened this past week" I let out a sight, it's time for the my people to know the truth.
"Do you really wish to know?" he nodes his head vigorously as a response, at the sight of this I fully turn around and walk back to his small desk
"In simple terms" I paused contemplating how I should break this to him
"The marked are still alive and out for our blood, I learnt of this last week when we found the bodies of three cheetah guards who all had the mark of the Onix carved into their chest. We found them all dead on the east wall. . . I think this in itself is enough evidence to say that they are back" I continue to look at him as he goes over the information I just gave him, his eyes seem to wander as he does
"I see what you mean then master Terrador. I will do what I can to build this" he said with glazed over eyes
"Good, now you begin work tomorrow so it may be in your best interest to get some sleep" and with that I finally leave his office and head to my quarters where I too fall asleep hoping that my city still stands when I awake.
