Chapter 5

Capture

Nickole fell on her butt, her head jarred and her arms sore. She had just turned around to go back to the cafeteria, she wanted a bottle of water, when a clone rounded the corner and ran into her! "Hey, buddy watch where you're going!" She said, still trying to clear her vision. "No matter how many times you run into one of these guys their suits aren't going to get any softer," she thought.

"Commander. I need you to come with me. I need information about the prisoner," the clone soldier got straight to the point.

Nick felt hurt; he didn't apologize for running into her. "Well, apology accepted."

He retorted, "You never apologized. I was just minding my own business when you ran into me."

"No. According to what you just told me, you were looking for me. I was just walking back to get some water."

"Doesn't change the fact that you ran into me."

Nick's temper was beginning to flare. She tried to calm herself down, but felt another retort bubbling in her chest. Her anger rose to its peak in about three seconds, and just as she was about to lash out at this guy, she heard Master Vaal's voice persistent in her subconscious. "Careful Nick. Don't let your emotions better your judgment. Calm yourself, and make smart decisions."

Nick took a deep breath, and spoke to the clone in a somewhat more calm way. "What do you need to know about the prisoner?"

"I need to know the location of his weapon in case he tries to escape, does he have any special abilities, force or physical, how long ago he was captured, and where."

"Well that's an extensive list."

"It could have been longer, but I didn't care enough," He seemed to be joking with her, so she decided to play along.

"Good to know you take your job seriously."

"I do. It was just a rather long list in the holocron that I didn't want to read. You could read it, if you want."

"No thanks. I like books, not so much on the files."

"Nobody likes files."

Nick giggled. "You're funny. Are you new?"

"Yes."

"What's your name?"

He paused. "Θ-3174"

"No I mean your real name."

"I just came from Kamino. They called me Theta, but it didn't help that there were lots of us."

There was an awkward pause, and this "Theta" character decided to strike up conversation. "Anyways, that prisoner intel?"

"How mad would your superior be if I didn't tell you?"

"You'd be saying hello to Θ-3175."

"That mad, huh?"

"Yup. So again, that intel," He seemed extremely set on getting the information, but Nick didn't want to spill.

"Well, I really don't want anything to do with that guy in that room, so…"

"If he asks about you I'll pass along the message but I still need the intel."

"Alright. Mr. Pushy. Umm… we captured him this morning, around 9 ish, and it was about thirty clicks from the ewok village."

"Which direction."

Nick raised her eyebrow at this clone. He seemed to need a lot of information. "South. He has force choke and lightning, I don't really know I've never met the guy."

"I was wondering if it was a combat capture or a lucky one."

"Kind of a mix of the two, if you call a two minute lightsaber brawl a combat," Nick said, thinking about her brief encounter with the stranger. She had held her own, but she could have been hurt if Master Vaal hadn't stepped in.

"In my experience two minutes is long enough for a kill."

"Okay, it was more like thirty seconds."

The very determined clone was steering from the conversation. "Still long enough."

"Wait, you just came from Kamino. What kind of experience do you have?"

"There are many training simulators in which we go up against live droids. It's not exactly easy. I'm honestly pretty sure they're repurposed merc droids."

"Anything else?"

"Weapon location."

"On my person," This was standard procedure for Sith captures. Nick didn't realize that this clone should have known that.

"Okay. Thanks for your time. Now I just have one more question."

"What?"

"Could you maybe lead me back to where he is?" His voice quieted, as he asked her for help.

Nick chuckled. "You're lost aren't you?"

"Yes, and I wasn't supposed to be away from my post this long," he said, sheepishly.

"Alright. But find a map or something next time."

"Thank you."

Nick turned around, and started to walk forward. The clone followed close behind her. She didn't look back as she marched straight to the prison hold, a short distance from where the two ran into each other. She opened the door, and smiled at the clone. "There you go!"

Tanner smiled inside his helmet. His plan was running smoothly. He followed the girl through the halls to the chamber where he was imprisoned. He looked down at her as she opened the door, and smiled. "There you go!" she said.

"Thanks." He said.

Tanner knew exactly how to get her back into the room. He bumped into her, his bulky armor pulling her partway in. He pretended not to notice the encounter, and acted surprised when she lashed at him. "Are. You. Freaking. Kidding. Me." She seemed to punctuate each word with her voice. "Are you even going to apologize to your commander?"

"What for?" He replied with a smirk. "You were in my way. I'm just going to do my job."

He walked toward his "post" his smile growing ever wider when she followed him in. "For your information, soldier, I am…" she wanted to continue, but she finally noticed the clone body in the corner. "Wait, is that? Then who…" Realization dawned in her eyes, and she drew her lightsaber. "Look, Sith. I know that's you."

Tanner lifted his hand, and began to force choke the girl. She clasped her hands around her neck, trying to yell for help, to no avail. She fell unconscious shortly after he began. He picked her limp body up off the floor, lolled her head to his chest, and splashed some water on her face. If I make her look sick, I can get her out of her and onto my ship for "medical attention". He thought. He then carried her out of the room, convincing most of the clones along the way the commander was in need of medical attention onboard the Jedi Cruiser orbiting the system. Once he found his ship, the droids carried the now prisoner to the brig, and he went to his bunk in the rear. Now Darth Saris will have to make me a Sith Lord.
