First of all, I'm sorry for not updating. I had a terrible, TERRIBLE case of writer's block. Also, I started three stories and felt even lazier to try and do them. So I'm going to TRY to finish one of them and move on to the next.

Warning: This chapter will have a short time skip. Also, Itachi will be soooo OOC in this chapter beware. This is my story, I do what I want, dammit.

Welcome to the wonderful place of my mind!

Now, without further interruptions… ONWARD!

Disclaimer: I don't own omg.

Chapter 11: An Awkward Situation

Hinata walked throughout the village which was currently being rebuilt. The past couple of weeks were pretty hectic with Tsunade-sama being in a coma, Danzo-sama getting killed by Madara before taking the title of Rokudaime, all these missions cutting into her free time… Not to mention the rumors of other villages invading Konoha because of their disadvantage. All Hinata wants to do is have a little time for herself, dammit. She dragged herself across the tightly packed dirt road as gracefully as one can drag themselves.

She just finished her daily training with Neji and her father. It was uneventful, a few comments here and there. What really surprised our favorite timid heiress was that her father had nothing negative to call out. In fact, he said that she improved. Granted she knew that he knew that she has improved significantly over the years but it brought a smile to her lips when he stated it out loud.

She felt a slight shift in the air behind her and immediately alerted her senses. Secretly, she activated her bloodline limit and deactivated as fast as it came. She her day was getting better and better. Turning a corner, she walked towards the dango shop that just recently reopened. Moving aside the curtain, she found a table for three. As soon as Hinata sat down and ordered two plates of dango, a man with hair as long as hers, eyes blacker than onyx stones, heart as compassionate as her own sat in the vacant seat in front of her.

"Konichiwa, Itachi." Hinata beamed. She loved days like this. After afternoon trainings, she wanders throughout the village and they would usually have lunch together.

"Konichiwa, Hinata." Itachi responded in an even voice. He eventually cracked a tiny smile towards the blue haired woman. "How was your training today?"

"Pleasant. Father acknowledged me today." Hinata began her tale. "It's all thanks to your trainings, you know."

Itachi took a stick of his favorite food. "No, you always had the ability. I merely pushed you to reveal them."

"You still partially helped." She stuck her tongue out as she plopped a dango in her mouth. The sweetness of the dumpling played with her taste buds.

A few moments of comfortable silence and thirteen sticks of dango later, the pair continued to talk about senseless things. Hinata was conversing to Itachi about the fundamentals of healing a wound when Sasuke slapped the curtain aside and slumped next to his brother, irritation written over his face. It was like this every day. Sasuke shows up eventually to beg Itachi to train him because he just absolutely needs to.

"Yes, brother?" Itachi lazily looked at his younger sibling.

"Train me." He said simply. "Oh, hey, Hinata-chan."

Sasuke refused to make eye contact with her or else he would risk a flushed face. A mixture of jealousy and anger towards his brother was the cause. He still liked Hinata-chan, dammit. He felt her nod in response.

"No. I am busy as of now. Maybe later." Itachi poked Sasuke's bare forehead. "Also, why are you not wearing your head band?"

Hinata eyed the older Uchiha's new hitaite on his forehead without a slash through it. Itachi was renounced as a jounin, not an ANBU captain. He kindly refused the position from Danzo, when he was still alive of course. He wore the standard Uchiha wear, black shirt with raised collar with the Uchiha fan on the black with black ninja pants. She looked over Sasuke who still wore the clothes given by Orochimaru.

"I don't use it when I'm off duty. Besides, it doesn't suit me." He che'd and looked off to the side. Sasuke, on the other hand, became an ANBU. The first time he was offered the position, his eagerness matched Chouji's when offered a bag of potato chips.

"You should wear it proudly." Itachi scrunched his brows in disappointment.

"Whatever. If you're not gonna train me then I'm going home." The Uchiha district was probably the only place that received minimum damage from Pein's attack. Sasuke poofed out of the dango shop.

Hinata had to help rebuild a new estate with other Hyuugas. It's not as pretty as her old one but it will do. Her father doesn't seem to mind since it was neater and better than the other houses built by Captain Yamato.

"May I walk you home?" Itachi offered Hinata. He paid for the dango and lifted the curtain for her.

"Yes, please." She stood and left the shop with Itachi by her side.

More idle conversation went on between them until a green and grey blur whipped past them, knocking Hinata over by the sheer speed of the two figures. Itachi caught the poor Hyuuga in his arms and glared at the running ninjas.

"KAKASHI, MY RIVAL, I WILL NOT LET YOU WIN THIS TIME!" Itachi heard in the distance.

"IN YOUR DREAMS, GAI!"

"MY YOUTH IS EXPLODING!"

Those damn hooligans and their senseless games. Itachi mentally rolled his eyes. He remembered that one time he was forced to referee them during a sake drinking contest. He felt his whole spine shiver at the thought of all the vomit he had to clean up in that bar.

"A-ano, Itachi… Arigato…" Itachi glanced down at the petite kunoichi in his arms. Her face was furiously pink. Itachi smirked and set her upright.

"Those two…" Itachi stared into the direction the Kakashi and Gai were headed.

"I think it's wonderful. To have a friend so loyal to you, I mean." The two continued to walk towards the Hyuuga estate.

"How so?" The Uchiha quirked a brow.

"Well, even if they are rivals, they care for each other. I heard from my father that Kakashi-sensei was to be named Rokudaime. I am guessing Gai-sensei made this ridiculous challenge as a last hoorah before Kakashi-sensei takes over." Hinata smiled from ear to ear. Itachi took a gander at Hinata.

Her smile could light the whole world…

"When do you suppose Tsunade-sama will awaken from her coma?" She asked suddenly. "Her condition is fine but not great." Her pale eyes were glazed over and looked distant. Her indigo brows were knitted together and her soft lips into a fine line. Overall, she looked concerned. Itachi did not like this look.

"Only time will tell, Hinata. And I don't think the Godaime will let a measly coma be her death. She is much too stubborn for that." Itachi engulfed Hinata's hand with his. She half-smiled up to the ninja before her.

Upon arrival of the compound, Itachi embraced her and gave her a peck on the cheek. He raised a hand to her face and took a lock of her indigo hair and tucked it behind her ear. He then stroked her cream skin with the back of his hand gently and then kissed her forehead.

"I will see you tomorrow." He told her with a genuine smile graced on his beautiful face before reluctantly unraveling himself from her and walked off. "Good night, Hinata."

Hinata's cheeks flushed lightly as she watched the man that gave her a thousand butterflies in her stomach. She bit her bottom lip as she let her hormones run wild. This man… This man is the one she loves.

"Sasuke, I am home." Itachi entered their old house. It was clear of all dust and the furniture looked brand new. The couch his little brother was occupying was slightly faded from age but was still in good condition. Itachi removed his sandals and stepped foot on the tatami mats.

"Hn." Sasuke was flipping through channels on the new television they purchased a week ago. Sasuke had no idea why they have one though. Useless piece of junk showing moving pictures. Who invented this anyways?

Sasuke sported his old clothes from back when he was a genin. A blue shirt with a high collar with the Uchiha fan on the back and white shorts.

"Did you eat?" Itachi stopped next to the couch.

"Hn."

"Sasuke."

"Hn."

"Did you—"

"Hn."

"Sasuke, did you eat—"

"Hn."

"Have you eaten—"

"Hn."

"Uchiha Sasuke, stop ignoring—"

"Hn."

The remote went flying out the window and Itachi was holding Sasuke high in the sky with one hand. His Sharingan flared as he stared into his brothers black, shocked eyes.

"SAY 'HN' ONE MORE TIME, I DARE YOU." He brought Sasuke close to his face as he threatened his brother in the most comedic way Uchiha Itachi could be. Sasuke tried desperately to move away from his brother.

"Okay, okay! Gomen, niisan…" In an instant, Sasuke fell from his older brother's grip and made a thump sound on the floor. Itachi's Sharingan deactivated and his calm mask returned.

"Did you eat yet, Sasuke?"

"No, I haven't." Sasuke dusted off his white shorts and fell back on the couch. "Can you not baby me?"

The two brothers adjusted to the way they used to be before the incident. Itachi being the worry-wart older brother and Sasuke being the spoiled brat too stubborn for his own good. Itachi was slowly crawling out of his isolation-hole and was converting back to his old self. Sasuke was still Sasuke. Itachi poked Sasuke's cheek. His face serious.

"It is unhealthy for a growing boy and ninja to be skipping meals. I will prepare you something for lunch and dinner. I expect you to finish it." Itachi stated with authority. Think of it as a very scary, unemotional, and mood-changing mother.

Itachi left the living room and entered the kitchen, planning on making onigiri and miso soup for his dear brother.

Oh Kami… He's so annoying. Sasuke sighed out loud. Now how is he supposed to change the damn channel.

A few hours of failed cooking later, Sasuke was staring at a tv dinner in front of him. The stove looked completely ruined and the microwave looked as if a gravy blob monster exploded inside. His disguting looking plate consisted of Salisbury steak, green beans, and what looked like mashed potatoes. Itachi wore an agitated expression as he poked around his peas. Sasuke took his chopsticks and stabbed it into the slab of meat and bringing it to his mouth.

"Oh dear lord." Sasuke physically shuddered as he manned the foul hamburger steak down his esophagus. He felt the slimy, cold thing hit the pit of his stomach and nearly gagged. Itachi's eye twitched.

"Sasuke, woud you like to go out for dinner instead…" Itachi suggested.

Sasuke bolted out the door. Itachi sighed, placed some money into his pocket, and was out the door in a flash.

"Hinata-sama, let Hanabi-sama and I accompany you." Neji smiled at his cousin. She was going out to dinner by herself because the lack of groceries in her home. Her father would join but he refuses to eat commoners food and went to bed empty stomached.

"Yeah, nee-chan!" Hanabi clutched herself onto a smiling Hinata.

"Of course, Hanabi-chan, Neji-niisan." Hinata walked on the streets of Konoha. She planned on going to the barbecue place then have some ice cream. What better way to spend family time than over dinner.

"Let's have some ramen!" Hanabi declared with a strong fist in the air. "I have never experienced it before."

"As you wish, Hanabi-sama."

In all actuality, Hinata didn't want to eat ramen because of the chances of running into Naruto again. She got over him forgetting her… sort of. Hinata was about to go against the idea until she saw the shop not too far away. Now she didn't want to be a bother and went along with them.

Hanabi and Neji entered the small stand first. Hinata braced herself as she saw the familiar orange clad boy. She entered and found herself in a difficult spot. There were about five open seats left. Two on Naruto's right, three on the left. Her two relatives chose to sit on the two on the right leaving Hinata to sit next to Naruto by herself. If she needed help from them, they would be too far away.

Curses. Hinata slowly seated herself to Naruto's left.

"Hinata-chan!" Naruto greeted her with a mouthful of noodles. "Hey, Neji! Hanabi-chan!"

"Naruto-kun." The '–san' was obviously dropped.

The two Hyuugas to his left nodded in his direction. They ordered their ramen in silence.

"May I have one miso ramen?" Hinata ordered. Neji agreed and also ordered the same. He was also farthest from Naruto.

Hanabi, on the other hand, was staring at Naruto's bowl with wide, lavender eyes. "I'LL HAVE WHATEVER HE'S HAVING!"

"All right, Hyuugas! Two miso ramen and one pork ramen with extra, extra, extra pork slices, extra narutomaki, extra corn, and extra oily!" The vendor immediately went to work.

Hinata and Neji stared at the littlest Hyuuga in wonderment. Hanabi ordered that bowl of slob? Naruto stared at the little Hyuuga with a look of curiousity.

"Hanabi-chan, are you sure you want that?" Naruto raised a blonde brow.

"Of course, it looks delicious!" Hanabi stared into Naruto's sixth bowl. "And damn, if you can eat it, I can too!"

Hinata stared at her little sister and shook her head with a small smile. Her sister was always as energetic as Naruto. She wished she spent her childhood with her. It wasn't until recently that she was able to interact with her again. Either way, she loved little Hanabi-chan.

"Hinata, what are you doing here?" A deep, calm, familiar voice came from behind her. The same voice took a seat next to her.

"Itachi." Oh yes. "Just out with Neji-niisan and hanabi-chan for dinner… Oh, and Naruto-kun…"

Itachi eyed the three to her right and looked into her eyes. They seemed to be screaming 'KAMI HELP ME' and went back to looking at Naruto who was downing his seventh bowl. Itachi smirked. Sasuke took a seat next to Itachi.

"What are we doing here?" Sasuke quirked a brow. He made eye contact with Hinata and immediately looked away. "Oh."

Itachi pulled his gaze away from the Hyuuga heiress and looked at the miniature Hinata next to Naruto. "Hyuuga Hanabi?"

Hanabi's white eyes removed themselves from Naruto's ramen and onto Itachi. "Yes?"

"Nice to meet you." Itachi forced a smile.

Hanabi smirked at her sister then back to Itachi. "Hinata-neechan, is this your boyfriend?"

Hinata's face immediately heated up in embarrassment. Sasuke side glanced and eavesdropped on the conversation. Naruto was slurping his soup and was silently observing. Neji's eyes narrowed at the Uchihas. Hinata could just die right now. Thank the gods above because before Hanabi could tease any further, their orders arrived. The vendor looked at the Uchihas and immediately asked for their orders.

"Miso, no pork slices, please." Itachi ordered politely.

"Pork, no narutomaki, no menma, please." Sasuke ordered. Naruto looked at Sasuke with mad eyes.

"NO NARUTO IN YOUR RAMEN?! WHY NOT?! IT'S NOT RAMEN WITHOUT NARUTO!"

"BAKA, IF THERE ARE NO NARUTO THEN THE WORLD WOULD BE BETTER OFF!"

Naruto gasped wildly His big blue eyes were hurt and complete with fake fat tears. "TEME, YOU TAKE THAT BACK RIGHT NOW. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU JUST SAID THAT!"

Hinata broke her chopsticks, trying to drown out the arguing voices of Sasuke and Naruto. "Itadakimasu."

She dove into her bowl of ramen, appreciating each flavor that danced with her tastebuds. Hanabi practically attacked her bowl while Neji 'properly' ate his. Hinata felt a pair of eyes on her and turned toward the source. Thinking it was Itachi, she faced a contemplating Sasuke who glaring at her. Very hard. She gulped the noodles in her mouth and calmly dabbed the sides of her mouth before facing Sasuke again.

"Y-yes, Sasuke-kun?" She wavered under his gaze.

"So are you his girlfriend or not?" He hissed.

"She doesn't have to answer to you, Uchiha." Neji called out from the opposite end.

"What'd you say, Hyuuga?!" Sasuke stood from his spot. Neji pushed his already empty bowl.

"I don't have to answer to you." He said calmly as he slapped the correct amount of money for all of the Hyuugas. He stepped outside of the stand. "I will wait outside, Hanabi-sama, Hinata-sama."

Sasuke literally had steam coming off of him. He turned his scowl back to Hinata. "Well, Hinata-chan?!"

"Foolish little brother, stop patronizing her." Itachi pinched the bridge of his nose.

Hinata felt her heart about to explode from inside its cavity. Her face was three shades too red and she felt like she was about to throw up. Lack of oxygen kept her from thinking straight and was swaying back and forth dangerously.

"Breathe, Hinata." Itachi lightly patted her back.

"This is boring, Hinata-neechan. Let's get ice cream now." Hanabi pushed her bowl and wiped her messy face with a napkin. "Bye, Naruto-kun!"

In an instant, Hanabi dragged her sister from the stand and hauled their asses towards the ice cream parlor. Inside of the stand, Itachi glowered at his idiot brother with eyes that could kill. (Technically they have…) Naruto devoured his eighth bowl and paid immediately, trying to avoid an angry Itachi.

"Uhh, I'll see you tomorrow, Sasuke." Naruto threw his payments next to the stacked bowls and made a run for it, leaving dust clouds.

"That was unnecessary, Sasuke." Itachi's hard glare was piercing his soul.

"So? Who cares." Sasuke stared at an uninteresting spot of the counter.

"You had no reason to attack Hinata like that, so to speak."

"If I do, then would it be okay for me to?"

"Depends on the reason."

The two stayed silent. The vendor placed their bowls in front of them without another word. He pretended to do some work in the back to avoid the Uchiha brothers. Tension was thick in the air as the two ate their ramen without so much as making a sound. When the two finished and Itachi was about to pay, Sasuke broke the silence.

"I like her."

Sasuke stood and left the stand. Itachi watched his brother's retreating form. His eyes on their family crest. He closed his eyes and whispered.

"I know."
