And here is more! Sorry again it takes me so long to update. With this chapter, things are finally moving in the direction I want. Please Read, Enjoy, and Review if you get the chance!
Little over two and a half centuries ago, the world was revealed. It was upon these new lands that the greed and foul ways of humans were discovered anew. And it is for that purpose that we strive to create a better world for the future. A world devoid of wastelands like Elympios.
Footsteps on the stairs made the young man close his book and set it down. As he had expected, a family voice rung out as his sister reached the top of the stairs.
"What are you doing?! We were supposed to meet Dad for training 10 minutes ago! Don't tell me you were reading those history books again? Honestly, I don't get how you can handle those. Where's the action? The romance?! Any good book has to have some sort of romance to it!" His brunette 'sister' exclaimed, resting her hands on her hips with a temporary pout.
"You're ranting again, Leia," he told calmly her as he got up from his desk. He and Leia often used it when they were reading because of the ample light it provided. "Father canceled the training because some important guests are coming today, remember?"
"Ooooooh, was that it? Is that why Kirk looks like he was trying to chop off his own fingers again?" Leia asked, her eyes wide as she thought about it, her usual wide smile back on her face. "No wonder."
"Is he alright? He must be stressing over what to cook. Which could only mean it's some high nobility. Some Lord perhaps?" He said the later parts mostly to himself, thinking it over.
"He'll be fine! You know he's one of the best cooks around! Though, only because that guy with the weird colored hair didn't stick around," Leia continued. "Anyways, Jude, we should go spar or something if Dad won't be training us today. We have to move our bodies everyday to stay healthy and strong, right?"
"I suppose we should," Jude agreed. Even Leia wouldn't let him read the day away, no matter the reasons.
As they headed out of the seahaven and towards the highroad, Jude only barely paid attention to what Leia rambled on about. He had only just gotten his newest book from a merchant earlier that day. It had just been published a few years earlier and wasn't exactly a common find. Anything talking about Elympios was rare to find and even more so were books that talked about the spirits, like this new book.
It had been 9 years since this 'obsession', as Leia liked to call it, had started. To Jude, it was simply an interest in anything to do with spirits. He had fond memories of a blonde girl who had been accompanied by the Four Great Spirits. Sometimes it took him a lot of thinking to remember but he never left himself fully forget her name: Milla.
"Jude! Are you even listening?" Leia's exclamation pulled him out of his thoughts. He gave his sister a small, guilty smile.
"Sorry, Leia," he said.
"Let me guess, it's about that girl again? Or is your new history book that interesting?"
Jude didn't answer, instead taking the time to pull out his fist guards since they had arrived at the wide open spot they typically used for sparring.
"It's time you stopped being so obsessed with her, you know," Leia said, her voice sober. "She's been dead for 10 years, like the rest of the town."
Jude shook his head and changed the topic. "You know they say this area used to be in perpetual sunset."
He got a sigh in response before Leia seemed to accept the conversation change as she got her own weapon out: A staff she had taken a lot of time to put special mechanisms in. "That would be so romantic! Can't you imagine always being able to ride off into the sunset with your sweetheart?"
Jude smiled at the comment. She definitely loved romantic things. "You'd have to have one first," he commented, taking the opportunity to go for the first strike
The sun was high in the sky by the time Jude and Leia called a truce. Jude was very happy his training was paying off finally; he no longer was just beaten up by Leia. Over the years he had gotten very good at dodging attacks, using his agility to avoid getting hit and often being able to circle around to behind the enemy at the same time.
Leia in turn had her own special thing she could do given the chance. She had put mechanisms in her staff that made it extend when she pressed a certain button which she usually did after dodging or blocking.
"Jude?" Leia asked, breaking him out of his thoughts. He blinked, looking at her. She must have been trying to talk to him. For some reason his head was in the clouds more than usual today.
"Sorry," Jude said, shaking his head in an attempt to clear it. "What did you say?"
"Geez, Jude! When did you turn into such an airhead?" Leia asked, exasperated. "I. Said. 'Who do you think this important guest is?'"
"Didn't I answer that already? Probably some lord. It's not too strange for them to take vacation to a place like this after all."
"No, no. Not what I mean. More specifically? Do you think it could be someone like King Gaius?" A dreamy look passed over the teen's face. "What if he says for a long time?! And imagine if he takes a liking to us? To me? Queen Leia! Now that would be epic!"
"Leia..." Jude sighed, giving his sister a tired look. "The King can't simply marry anyone. And I've already heard rumors he has a lover. You'd be better off pursuing a different goal. Like taking over the inn from mother and father."
"Why can't you do that?" She pouted.
Jude gave a pained smile and shrugged. "Let's get back before a monster decides we would be a good snack."
Leia fell behind as they headed back, watching her brother with a worried look. He didn't often change the subject on her. Why did she have to say the wrong thing at the wrong time and pick that old scab?
When they returned to the inn, it was in a frantic bustle. As the siblings walked in a dark brunette woman pulled them aside.
"Our guests are just about here! The boat came early. Leia, go make sure the big room is ready. Jude, you go meet them at the dock," The woman rattled off orders, not giving any room for objections. Leia nodded and headed off to do as she was told.
"Who exactly should I look for, Mother?" Jude asked. He didn't want to have to pull any noble-looking person out of the crowd and get the wrong one. Or ones, judging by how his mother was talking.
"King Gaius and the Prime Minister! Did your father not tell you earlier? Now off with you!"
Jude glanced after Leia, wondering if she heard who it was, before heading off to the dock. There was a ship a few hundred feet out that was coming in. In a few minutes, he would be meeting the King and Prime Minister face to face.
Later, he would realize he should've been more excited, seeing how much this event changed his regular life. Those he had forgotten and those he made himself never forget, both would come into his life again. In one way or another.
That's all for now. Please let me know what you think so far. And if I missed any spelling or grammar errors. Feel free to leave a Review or Message me. I promise I won't bite!
Thanks again for reading!
