"Uh, well..." Natsu gulped, how on earth is he going to explain to Lucy what a mate is?! It's hard enough for him to understand it himself.
"Well?" Lucy stressed, she had found a rock to sit on after they did, well the whole kissing thing. She was happy, but at the same time this worried her greatly. She didn't want to get her hopes up; it could have been something that happened in the heat of the moment. But seeing Natsu's nervous face, she knew something was up with this whole mate thing.
"Well, I'll tell you only if you don't kill me afterwards, okay?" he looked at her with a nervous grin. Lucy narrowed her eyes in suspicion, "Alright, I won't kill you but I can't promise I won't kick you if it's something stupid."
Natsu's eyebrow twitched, "It's not something stupid! It's important!" he growled, he'll be damned if Lucy didn't accept being his mate. Sighing, he sat in front of her, crossing his legs as his arms crossed his chest. Looking at her big brown eyes with seriousness, he started with his explanation.
"Well I'm pretty sure you know what mating is don't you?" He asked. Lucy rolled her eyes and snorted, "Of course I know! Though I'm surprised you do." she finished with a smirk. Natsu pouted at that.
"Well know it all Lucy, what is mating to you?" he asked with spite in his voice. Lucy blinked twice, and drug her slender finger to her chin in a thinking manner, her brown eyes looking at the sky, that was still pouring down on them, only a tree left to protect them from the cold drops of water. Humming, she looked back at him, "Well, it's a relationship between two individuals. With animals for example, they mate to reproduce..." she paused. Wait a minute, her eyes grew in size in realization, finding Natsu's amused black coal eyes staring back at her. "W-what is going on Natsu?! Y-you were talking about mating," she couldn't help but stutter. Natsu smirked, 'So she has it figured out! Well sort of…'
"Well Lucy, dragons are like animals even if they are bigger creatures," he chuckled, "Dragon slayers are part human and part dragon. We have the same animal instincts as they do; well that's what Igneel said a long time ago. Even though I didn't pay much attention to that part of the lesson years ago," he rubbed his neck in shame while Lucy sweat-dropped.
"Dragons are monogamous creatures, so of course us dragon slayers are the same. We have just one partner in a lifetime, Lucy, and here is when it gets complicated," he looked down to the ground.
Lucy looked at him in awe; she had figured the whole situation out, she wouldn't be Lucy Heartfilia if she didn't. So she just happens to be, the man of her dreams' mate, and he's nothing but a nervous wreck at the moment. She smiled warmly, she couldn't really blame him; he probably has never experienced such a thing. Even with Lisanna, it was nothing but pure child's love. And Igneel disappeared before teaching him anything more. Lucy reached out her hand and pet his rosy locks softly.
"So when you said I was your mate, this is what you meant?" she smiled at him; Natsu looked at her eyes to see if there was any type of discomfort, but he found none. Lucy was smiling at him, tenderly, and in understanding; thank god he chose a smart woman to be with him forever.
"So uh…what do you think?" he asked, Lucy crossed her arms and scrunched her eyebrows in confusion. "What do I think? Hmm, well let me see. Natsu Dragneel, the destructive dragon slayer. The one who is not only stubborn, egotistical-"
"Hey-! You're egotistical too!" he interrupted. Lucy's vein throbbed, "Don't interrupt!" she coughed and continued,"-glutinous, the one who breaks into my house all the time, eats and destroys everything in it, the danger magnet, the adventurer, the one with that annoying blue cat that all it does is disrespect me!" Natsu gulped as Lucy stood back up and stomped her foot down. "Oh and the one that left me behind without a second thought, you! Natsu Dragneel! You ask me to be your damn mate? Well?!" she grabbed his collar and Natsu could only nod rapidly.
Grinning sweetly, her cheeks showed the most beautiful pink color, that it would even put his hair to shame. "Of course I accept…to have you as my partner for this lifetime; it'll be a great adventure."

"What took you guys so long~" Happy purred teasingly, specially since both his partners came back, not only soaking wet but also holding hands. Lucy blushed fifty shades of RED while Natsu smirked.
"We made out!" he answered. Everyone went silent, and then "EH?!" Lucy elbowed Natsu so hard on the ribs that he crawled on the floor in pain.
"You moron! D-don't listen to him!" she blushed, everyone smiled teasingly after Natsu's sincere answer but decided to stay quiet. Putting jokes aside, Lucy wondered how the hell would they find their ice mage friend, "Natsu? Do you have any idea how to even find Gray?" Lucy asked.
Natsu by now was sitting on the floor, rubbing his ribs, and glaring at his mate, "Sabertooth is near by, they'll help out."
Lucy blinked in confusion; what does Sabertooth has to do with Gray? She could only wonder. Getting up finally, Natsu gathered his bag and walked to the door, grabbing Lucy's hand, "Wendy, you stay here with Charle to take care of Juvia. Happy let's go!"
"Aye sir!" Happy flew out with both his teammates. "Be careful minna! I'll make sure to take good care of Juvia-san, please bring Gray-san safely!" Wendy waved at them; the three friends waved back, with the promise of bringing their friend back.
Once outside, in a stable Natsu found an animal they could ride, to make it faster he thought. Grabbing Lucy, he sat her down on the animal's back in a swift move making Lucy shriek, "N-natsu! I could of gotten on by myself!" she puffed but Natsu only grinned at her, "But then where is the fun in that!" Lucy blushed in response.
"Seriously, what happened while you guys were gone!" Happy intruded the sweet moment. "Nothing much, just that Lucy is now my mate!" Natsu's toothy grin barely fit his face. Happy just looked at him blankly. "No seriously, what happened?" the exceed tried again. "I already told you!" Natsu whined crossing his arms, and so the cat and the fire breather kept at it. Lucy's lip twitched in annoyance; taking Natsu's face in her hands, she smashed her lips to him quickly, surprising both the blue cat and the dragon slayer.
Pulling back, she smirked in triumph at Natsu's fish face of shock, "Do you believe us now stupid cat?!" Happy only nodded his head, not being able to utter a word. "Come on guys! We better get going before dark!" Lucy shouted at them. Natsu shook his head and smiled, hopping on top of their ride. Lucy wrapped her arms around his muscled torso, "Hold on tight Luce! Happy try to keep up!"
"W-wait! Natsu, Lucy explain moreeeee!" Happy whined, flying after them. 'Did they finally confess that they likeeeeeeee each other?!'

"So Natsu, why are we even going to Sabertooth? Do you know something I don't?" Lucy asked, her err... Boyfriend? Mate? She doesn't even know the correct word! Anyways, back on track!
"I can't really say much for now, but trust me we will find him," Natsu reassured, Lucy laid her head on his strong back in deep thought; she had a bad feeling about all of this. She feared her friend was in danger, heck she even feared that this whole reuniting the guild thing would not work out! She sighed sadly, but this didn't go unnoticed by the fire mage.
Turning around, forgetting to watch where they were going, he held his Lucy's hands. Lucy of course shrieked in fear, "Natsu! Keep your eyes on the road!"
"Lucy, I promise you everything will be just like it was! I promise!" Natsu reassured her while she blushed lightly. Natsu's determined eyes, and his surprisingly sweet breath, was mouth-watering. Looking to her side in embarrassment, she pushed Natsu's head hard making him yelp in pain, "Look at the road you idiot!"
"Natsuuuu, Lushieee! I see Sabertooth up ahead!" Happy got the attention of both mages.
"Alright, we are getting there you stupid Gray!" Natsu grinned.

Back in a dark forest...
"All the dark guilds have failed completely, even Tartarus..." a man with a mask said, "Now a new era begins, the age of the Avatar."
"We shall revive the darkness, the dark mage Zeref!" Priest Arlock raised his voice fearfully.
"All in the name of Zeref," a familiar voice resounded in the room, his eyes now just as dark as the marks filling his body, Gray Fullbuster.

Damn guys, I'm sorry for cutting it short. I would promise you weekly updates but that just won't happen, so I'll do it every two weeks. The exact day? Sorry I work so much that I barely have time... Sucks! I hope this chapter was okay, I had serious writer's block! Honestly, thank you Kat for your patience!
