Sam and Tucker watched as Plasmius grinned and aimed the glowing scroll at their scared friend. "Infi-Map! Send Danny Phantom to a different dimension!" And with a pink beam of light and a frightened scream from Danny later, there was silence.
And the ghost boy was nowhere in sight.
"DANNY!" Both friends yelled to the air where their friend once stood. Plasmius' howling laughter was their only response.
Sam glared at the vampiric ghost that floated above them. "What did you do to Danny!? Bring him back!" She yelled while aiming her wrist ray at him. Vlad just chuckled in return.
"Please girl. Do you really honestly believe pointing the thing that was created by that bumbling oaf at me and yelling at me is going to bring him back? I'm afraid not. This was the only way I could get him out of my way without the risk of you two, Jasmine, or Danielle finding him and completely ruining my plans again." Sam continued to glare at Plasmius. She didn't want to believe it. There is no way Danny is gone for good. He is this town's hero… And hers. Vlad just smiled at her. "I'm afraid my victory is assured my dear. This time, you lose. Hahahahaha!" Vlad laughed as he disappeared into the night, taking their only hope to bring Danny back, with him.
Sam's legs gave out beneath her as she stared at the sky, eyes wide in disbelief. "He's gone. He's gone. He can't be gone."
Tucker walked up beside her, a small smile on his face. "Come on Sam. This is Danny we're talking about. He'll be back before you know it!"
"But he is in a different dimension remember! It's not like Vlad got him stored away somewhere or thrown in the Ghost Zone. I wouldn't even be worried if he was in a different timeline. But he's not, Tucker!" Sam brought her knees up to her chest and hugged them. "He's gone Tucker. And you want to know what makes it worse?" She asked, looking up at him with teary eyes. "We just stood by and watched. Even when Vlad said what he was planning, we just stood there. What kind of friends are we!?"
"The kind that believes in the ability of their best friend." Tucker answered with his small smile still in place. Upon hearing the words of her other best friend, Sam's eyes went from angry and upset, to surprise and understanding. "Come on Sam. I don't know about you but I'm not giving up on Danny. Vlad already told us how his plan worked and how his Infi-Map was the way to bring Danny back. And let's not forget that we have some friends in high places." Tucker held his hand out to the Goth staring up at him from her seat on the ground. "I don't know about you, but I still have hope, and I'm not giving up without trying everything I can think of to bring him back."
Sam smiled at his reassuring words and accepted his hand to help her up. He was right. There is now way Danny would give up trying to get home, so why would they give up trying to bring him back?
"So what's the plan? After saying all that you have to have some idea as to what we can do." Sam asked Tucker after getting up and adjusting her skirt.
Tucker grinned. "Oh, ye of little faith. Of course I have a plan!

The two teens made their way down a familiar route. It was beginning to get dark and there was an ominous feel to the air, like something bad was soon going to happen. Maybe they just never felt as safe knowing that Danny wasn't with them to stop Vlad or any other ghost who showed up to cause destruction.
Tucker and Sam walked next to each other in silence. It actually felt a little awkward without Danny there with them. Tucker continued to type away on his PDA doing what Sam hoped was him putting together their plan of attack. Truth be told, she was still a little bit unfocused. No matter how often she tried to think of a plan, just in case Tucker's wasn't any good or he bluffed about having a plan at all, her thoughts would always fall back to Danny. Where did he end up? Is he okay? Does he miss them? Is he even trying to come home, or is that dimension better than this one?
Is he even alive?
Sam shook her head to try and rid herself of those kinds of thoughts. 'This is Danny!' Sam thought. 'Of course he would be okay. That boy is too clueless to even realize when it's time to give up. Danny won't give up, so why should I?' Feeling a sense of determination fill her being, she looked over to her dark-skinned friend who was furiously typing away on his PDA, a similar look of determination evident through the furrowed brows and dedicated and focused look in his eyes.
Once they reached the door of the familiar red-brown brick home, illuminating the street with its neon 'Fenton Works' sign, and a large UFO-esque attachment that rested precariously on the top of the building, did Tucker look up from his PDA. Raising his hand in the air to knock on the door, he stared at the door for a few moments as if the mere act of knocking on the wood would cause the home to fall apart at the seams. Risking a glance at Sam for, what he hoped would be reassurance, he noticed that she was looking at him with a look that was unwavering. She seemed to have calmed down and now looked like if everything they tried had failed, she would still continue trying until her dying breath.
And with that, his hand made contact with the forbidding wood.
The once-trio-now-duo (temporarily) never had to wait long before the door was thrown open, revealing the large orange mass that is Jack Fenton.
"GHOST!" Jack screamed into the night, hefting a large ecto-bazooka out of nowhere and firing at the intruders. But since Sam and Tucker are used to this reaction, they simply leaned to the side and allowed the goo to fly harmlessly past them.
"Hey Mr. Fenton, it's just us. No ghost." Sam revealed to the over-enthusiastic ghost hunter in front of them, causing his large form to deflate and droop before retreating back into the house. The duo followed quietly behind.
Just after entering, the familiar red-haired head of Jazz appeared around the corner leading into the kitchen. Seeing Sam and Tucker standing there without Danny made her wonder what was going on.
"Guys? What are you doing here? I'm sure you know that Danny isn't here right now."
"Oh we know. It's just that… That… Ummmm…" Tucker started, but couldn't finish. Sam decided to finish.
"What Tucker is trying to say is that you agreed to help us… with our uh… school project?" She finished as more of a question than a statement. Jazz stared at the two in confusion at first, not quite understanding what they were trying to get at. Watching Jazz try to comprehend what they were trying to tell her caused Sam's eyebrow to twitch, thinking 'and she wants to be a psychologist? She can't even pick up on the hints we purposely give her!'
Finally, the comprehension dawned over the eldest Fenton siblings face, threatening to give the fact that they aren't actually here to work on a project. 'And we call Danny Clueless…'
"Oh right! How about we go to my room and we can get started?"
Tuckers and Sam looked at each other, each releasing a breath they never realised they were holding, and followed Jazz up to her room.

"Way to go Jazz. You almost gave everything away right there!" Sam accused the red-head. "It's a good thing your parents are clueless when it comes to, well, everything."
"Yeah Jazz. You would think that you would know by now that when we say something like a 'project', it usually has to do with Danny."
"Hey, I haven't been at this as long as you two have. Now what about Danny?"
So the two friends recapped the events of the evening to Jazz, choosing their words wisely as to not scare her more than they have to. By the time they were finished telling her what happened, Jazz was horrified.
"So Vlad sent my little brother to another dimension?! How are we going to get him back?" Jazz questioned the duo while attempting to hold back her tears.
Sam looked to Tucker. 'He was supposed to have formulated a plan on the way over here so he better deliver!' she thought as she glanced over his features. She saw a look of quiet confidence, and she smiled. He had a plan.
Jazz looked expectantly at the duo, and when she saw Sam look over to Tucker, Jazz also turned her gaze at the chocolate-skinned tech-nerd. "Well?"
Tucker took out his PDA and walked over to Danny's computer. Taking out a cord, he connected his handheld device into the old computer and began working. The girls watched as he typed furiously, managed multiple open windows, and clicked many icons. If this was any other time, the two would be impressed by Tucker's speed and skill, but because they were worrying about Danny, the 3 minutes it took him to do everything he needed felt like an eternity.
"Okay, so this is how I see it. Since Vlad openly told his plan, which may I add is something he may very soon regret, we just have to do the only thing he said that would bring Danny back. So I looked into which of his usual hideouts were drawing on a larger energy source from the city's power grid to indicate that he is using that particular spot. But there wasn't anything at his two mansions or at City Hall."
Sam crossed her arms and looked at the tech-geek with annoyance. "So you're telling us that we have to take the map away from the fruit-loop himself, but we don't know where he is. That's not a plan Tucker! That's time wasted that we have to spare!"
"Calm down Sam. I never finished telling you everything I found."
"Well get on with it. We're kind of running on a tight schedule."
"Well someone woke up on the sunny side of the bed this morning…" Tucker mumbled, but Sam heard and gave him an irritated look. "Alright, alright. So I spread out the search to include all of Amity Park and followed the same process. It took a little longer, but I got the skills and a beautiful PDA on my side. There were two sources of fluctuating energy spikes on the power grid over the past month. We know one was caused when Technus decided to take over the games in the arcade to update his form and skills in each game so he can be 'hip and funky fresh', so that one is out. But there is one location that doesn't make any sense to be drawing so much power all of the sudden." Tucker turned around and pulled up a map of Amity Park that was color-coded to display energy usage in the town, and played a time lapse. The area stayed the same until two and a half weeks ago when the arcade lit up the power usage thanks to Technus' latest scheme. The three continued to watch until a new building lit up, signaling an increase of power usage. The girls' eyes widened once they realized where the building was.
"He has got to be kidding." Sam said annoyed.
"Is that even legal?" Jazz questioned out loud. "Because that can't be legal."
"I don't know if it's legal, and I don't think we will ever know since I'm sure that Amity's police force don't have any laws that pertain to ghosts and residents' boundaries, but my Sharon does not lie to me."
"In all honesty we really should have seen this coming. He is a fruit-loop after all. So what do you have planned Tucker?"
Tucker started to further explain, "Well, I brought up the floor plans and I - " only to be cut off by a loud "BOO!"
"Ahhhhh!" Came the screams of the three occupants of the room. But the screams never lasted long as giggles were heard and a familiar black and white suit, head of white hair, and glowing green eyes faded into view. "Hey guys! Did you miss me?"
Sam and Tucker stood disbelievingly. "Danielle!?" They shouted in unison.
"The one and only." The young ghost said as she took a bow before playfully adding "At least that I know of. Hey, why are you looking at blueprints for Fenton Works?"
"Danielle?" Jazz questioned. She had never heard of this Danielle before. But she looked to similar to her little brother's ghost form for her liking. "Who are you and why are you here in the house of a family of ghost hunters? And how do you two know her?"
The two classmates looked at each other, wondering which of them should fill Jazz in. Dani, being Dani, decided she would do it. "Hi! I'm Danielle, but you can call me Dani; with an 'I'. I'm here to talk to Danny."
"As you can probably tell, Danny isn't here. And you never finished answering my question!"
"Ah, Jazz?" Sam said to get her attention, "Danielle is kind of Danny's clone."
"His what!?"
"I'm his clone. The fruit-loop himself wanted the perfect half-ghost son, Danny, but Danny wouldn't go for it obviously. So Vlad resorted to cloning him and I was the only somewhat stable one to make it through. And don't ask why I'm a girl because I have no idea."
"And we found her and Danny after Vlad kidnapped Danny to get his mid-morph DNA. She helped Danny escape and got us out of trouble with Mr. Lancer and our parents. She comes back to visit from time-to-time. Anyway, can we please get back to rescuing the original Danny who Vlad sent to an alternate dimension now please?" Hearing a gasp from Dani, Sam added "We'll fill you in later Dani."
"So as I was saying, the only other place in Amity Park that is using way more juice than normal, is here at Fenton Works. Since we know everything the Fenton parents are up to, we know that they aren't at anything that can draw almost double their normal power. So Vlad must be on this household grid, and the only way to access this grid is to be in the house, above it, or…"
Realization dawned across the faces of the female occupants of the room. "Or below it."
"Exactly! But there is no hidden floor underneath the lab in the blueprints. I even hacked into the Fenton's computer files and accessed their notes, plans, and monthly household spectre scans, which we should definitely warn Danny about when he gets back. There is no way for us to verify that Vlad's 'lair" is there since we can't even get there."
Waving her arms in the air and pointing to herself, Dani announced that she could help. "I may not know everything that is going on here, but you do realize that a ghost can get there right? I am a ghost after all. Let me help. I can go down and have an invisible look around."
"She is right you know." Jazz pointed out. "Are you sure you're cloned from my brother? You seem to be smarter than him." Hearing Jazz say that, Dani blushed and smiled at the compliment.
"Dani, do you know what the Infi-map looks like?" Sam asked the female phantom.
"Yeah, that's the scroll that can take you wherever you ask it to right? I spent some time with Frostbite and his people in the land of the Far Frozen while on my journey and he told me a bit about it. Why?"
"Because that's what Vlad used to send Danny to a different dimension. We need you to go down, see if there is a lab of some sort down below the Fenton's lab, find the Infi-map, and bring it back here. Can you do that?"
"Hm… I never knew the map could do that. But you can count on me!"
"Alright. Go there and get back as fast as you can." Sam ordered cheerfully. They are getting closer to getting Danny back. Obviously Vlad didn't expect them to find his hide-out as fast as they did.
Dani saluted the other members of Team Phantom, throwing in a playful "Aye-aye, captain!" before turning intangible and invisible, and flying down through the floor.
The gang all sat around Jazz's room; some tapping their foot, some reading, and some pacing, but all awaiting the return of the young Phantom. The seconds seemed to stretch into hours, ticking by painfully slow. If Sam and Tucker never knew better, they would assume that Clockwork slowed time down just for them to suffer more. But they knew the time-master actually cared for Danny and his well-being, so he wouldn't do something like that to the only few people that know his secret and can try to save him.
After waiting what felt to be an eternity in hell, the young spectre finally phased up though the floorboards and into the middle of the room. Sam was rapidly asking questions before the girl could touch her feet to the floor.
"Was there anything there? Was Vlad there? Did you see the map?" She only stopped once Tucker put a hand on her shoulder. "Clam down Sam. Give her time to answer." Sam tried her best to calm down and collect herself by taking a few deep breaths.
"Well, there was a small office-type dugout way down there. It was so small that I almost missed it. Luckily Vlad wasn't there because if he was, I would probably be a puddle of ectoplasmic goo on the ground. Oh! And look what I got as a souvenir!" Dani exclaimed while reaching into her pants pocket that, like Danny's and Danny's parents suits, seems to have some type of n-space instead of a normal pocket. Then again, the Fenton's were never normal. With a huge smile of excitement plastered on her face, she withdrew the Infi-map – the way they were going to bring Danny home.
Jazz happily gasped and rushed forward to hug the young ghost. "Dani you done it! You are my hero! Just don't tell Danny, he'll get jealous."
"Sweet!" Tucker exclaimed "I was right!" He then began to hug his PDA, whispering thanks before kissing it in an expression of affection and appreciation.
After escaping Jazz's death hug, Dani walked over to Sam and handed her the map. "Here you go Sam. Now bring Danny back to us so he can kick that fruit-loop's deranged butt!"
Sam gratefully accepted the map from Dani, even throwing in a quick hug. "Thanks Dani. If you never showed up when you did, I don't know what we would have done."
"What can I say, I'm just awesome like that. Now open up that map and bring Danny back to us!"
Nodding with a face of hope and determination, Sam stood back up from her knelt position in front of Dani and opened the aforementioned map. Taking a quick breath, she asked the question they were all waiting for.
"Infi-map! Bring Danny Phantom back to this dimension!"
The map began to glow a soft yellow and slowly began to levitate out of Sam's hands. The glow slowly intensified until it was too bright to see, resulting in the small gathering to cover their eyes. The light died down and the sound of something hitting the floor reached their ears. Sam, Jazz, and Dani immediately screamed the name of the person who was standing there.
Only to be met with disappointment. The sound of something hitting the floor was the Infi-map dropping from the air. Everyone held looks of disbelief while Tucker made his way to the fallen map. Unrolling the scroll again, Tucker analyzed the scene on the map only to find something interesting.
"Guys. The map is only half drawn."
"Half drawn?" Sam asked as she made her way, slowly, over to her friend. "Wow, you're right! Why is it only half drawn?"
"Didn't you guys mention something about a Frostbite knowing all about the map?" Jazz questioned.
Sam scoffed. "Well apparently he don't know everything since he seemed to have forgotten to tell Danny about the maps ability to send you to a whole other dimension!"
"That may be true Sam, but what other choice do we have?" Tucker replied. "Frostbite is the only one that we know of who remotely knows how this maps works. Besides, how can Frostbite not help us once he knows that it is to help the Great One?"
Dani looked to Sam pleadingly. "Please Sam. We have to try. We got to get Danny back here with us again!"
Knowing the young ghost girl was right, Sam sighed. She couldn't believe that the plan didn't work. She was so sure that it was going to work, only to have her hopes dashed. She does not want to go through that again. But maybe talking to an 'expert' might help. After all, when Frostbite tried to explain the map to them, Danny accidently asked it to bring them home, resulting in them quickly flying through the ghost zone and away from any other information the Yeti ghost leader may have given them.
"Fine. Get as much stuff as we might need, but only necessities. Be ready to go into the Ghost Zone in 20 minutes. Jazz, find a way to get your parents out of the lab, then come meet us in the Spectre Speeder."
"Sure thing."
"We'll do it this time. No room for mistakes or excuses. We're going to bring Danny back! We have to."
