As the Quinjet started descending, Olive pulled her knees up to her chest, eyes on the tablet in front of her. Her own serious face stared up at her, causing Olive to frown as she swiped her finger across the screen. Her file was incredibly sparse compared to the others but she supposed she should be glad about. It listed her abilities, when she came to S.H.E.I.L.D. and honestly she believed that was all people should really know about her . . . well most people. Olive looked up at Steve just as he looked away from her. He must have been worried, considering how quiet she had been this whole trip. She hadn't even said much when Coulson had soundly embarrassed himself while he was talking to Steve. She gave him a small smile. "What? More places you want to name off?"
Steve smiled back, shaking his head. "Not right now no. . . . What are you thinking?"
Olive tilted her head, looking at him. "Why?"
"You look worried."
Olive sat her things down, lacing her fingers together over her stomach as she leaned back in her seat. She wondered if she really looked worried. She was usually very good had hiding how she felt, but it was easy to forget to do that when Steve was around; she just never felt it necessary. She blew a bit of hair out of her face, giving him a wry smile. "Team missions aren't really my strong suit."
"Neither is it for most of the team." Both of them looked up as Agent Phil Coulson, moved past them towards the back of the plane. He sent her a small smile as he buttoned up his suit jacket. "I'm sure you'll fit in just fine."
The plane touched down and Olive stood, shoving her things into her backpack. Steve followed suit, standing beside her. She couldn't help but feel agitated and nervous. Sure, she had a pretty great grasp on her powers now, after years of training but what if something happened to her? What if she was in charge of an escape route, or had to get people out quickly and she couldn't? People could get hurt, or worse, they could die and it would be all her fault. She – Olive looked down when fingers stared to curl around hers. Steve hand enveloped hers, warm and reassuring as he gave her hand a light squeeze. He glanced down at her, nodding. "I'm right here," he muttered, so that she could hear him.
She looked at him, feeling he corner of her mouth lift up. Olive squeezed his hand back, taking a deep breath as the hanger door opened. "Let's get this meet and greet done with yeah?"
Her hand left his as she followed Coulson down the ramp and out onto the platform, Steve right behind her. She squinted into the light as they exited the plane but even though she was practically blinded, she could still see the shock of red hair on the platform. Olive raised her hand, waving it frantically. "Natasha, hey!"
Natasha looked up as Olive ran towards her, sprinting across the platform. Though Olive had never shared her real name, her story with Natasha, she considered the woman to be a close friend. She had been one of the people who helped train her, get her to focus. She reached the Black Widow, grabbing her hands. "I've missed you."
"I've missed you too, G," Natasha responded, giving her a slight smile. "I was surprised to see your file in the briefing."
"You and me both," Olive said, looking around the platform. Briefly, she thought about leaving right then and there. She could hide again, just keep running; it wasn't like she hadn't done it before.
Natasha gently grabbed her arm. "You're going to be fine. It'll be good for you here."
Olive shook her head. "I don't know how. I'm better off by myself. You know that."
"I would I know? You've never even tried to be on a team, no matter how much Clint and I tried to persuade you. Besides, you haven't been by yourself," Natasha added as an afterthought, glancing over at Coulson and Steve as they approached. Olive looked to Steve, trying to fight the smile that was coming to her face. Steve most certainly did make it easier for her to want to spend time with people. Not that she would have an easy time telling him that.
"Agent Romanoff. Captain Rogers," Coulson said as a way of introduction.
"Natasha if you aren't formal," Olive told Steve.
"Ma'am," Steve replied.
"Hi," Romanoff responded before turning to Coulson. "They need you on the bridge. Face time."
"See you there." With that, Coulson walked off, leaving the three of them there on the platform.
Natasha glimpsed up at Steve. "There was quite a buzz around here, finding you in the ice. I thought Couslon was going to swoon. Did he ask you to sign his Captain America trading cards yet?"
"Trading cards?" Steve asked, amused.
"They're vintage," Olive said with a grin. "He's very proud."
The three looked up, noticing for the first time a nervous looking man walking across the bridge, eyeing the area with distaste. Olive recognized him as one of the men from the file, the one who had been doused with gamma radiation.
"Dr. Banner," Steve called up as they got closer.
The two men shook hands, the Doctor obviously trying to smile. "Oh, yeah. Hi. They told me you'd be coming."
"Word is you can find the cube," Steve responded.
"Is that the only word on me?" Banner glanced at Natasha and Olive.
"Only word I care about," Steve told him, sincerely. Olive supposed that's what she liked about Steve, his sincerity. He always gave people a chance, despite what he knew about them.
Olive touched Natasha's arm, causing the other woman to look at her. "I'm going to go check in with the Director."
The Black Widow nodded and Olive Traveled to the Bridge. She had never been on the Helicarrier before; there had never been a need for it. It was just as expansive and incredible as she thought it would be. The ship shook a little as it began its ascent.
"Agent Glitch." Olive turned at the sound of her name, giving a slight smile as Fury approached her. "Glad you could make it."
Olive shook her head. "Glad I didn't run away you mean."
"I mean what I said."
The door behind them opened, Steve, Dr. Banner, and Natasha walking onto the bridge. Olive watched as Steve looked around, amazed before he reached into his pocket and handed Director Fury a ten dollar bill which Fury accepted graciously. "Gentlemen. Doctor, thank you for coming."
"Thanks for asking nicely," Dr. Banner replied. "So, how long am I staying?"
"Once we get our hands on the Tesseract, you're in the clear."
"Where are you with that?"
Olive walked over to Natasha, who was watching an image of Clint on the screen. "We're going to find him."
"And what will he be like when we do," Natasha muttered. "Fury said he had no control. How do we fix that?"
"By catching this Loki guy, I suppose."
"Agent Romanoff." Both Olive and Natasha looked to the Director as he motioned towards Banner. "Would you show Dr. Banner to his laboratory please."
"You're gonna love it, Doc," Natasha told him as she led the way out of the Bridge. "We've got all the toys."
Olive walked up to Steve, who was still looking around. "Lost your bet."
"Turns out I haven't seen everything yet," Steve answered with a grin.
Smiling, she nudged him with her shoulder. "Let's go find out where we're supposed to put our things."
