So, this might seem really fast. I mean, it took me 6 months last time to write one chapter. Sure, it was like twice the size of what I usually write, but still. This is the same length of the last chapter, BUT I will not be writing this on a set schedule. I have time in the beginning of the school semester to write fanfiction, but not only is this one of my busiest semesters, but this is my last year at school. That means GREs and grad school applications.
For those who just skipped that, basically, I might be busy again; therefore, here is a long chapter.
Please review at the end. It would really help.
And with that, let's START!
The Hokage was reading a scroll he had in his hidden library. All Hokages have contributed to this library, whether it was their own jutsus or notes they had acquired. The notes he was currently reading were neither. They were details he made by accumulating all the observations of a certain style that he, the ANBU he had with him at the time, and Ororchimaru's old notes had: the Intou style.
What worried him was, of course, Naruto. Unfortunately, since there was only one person that used this style, there wasn't enough data to go by in order to understand it at all. All he knew was that the Kagegan jutsu was dangerous. It led to the downfall of the old genin that used it to surpass his peers by consuming him. If Naruto used it, it could turn out worse for him. The first user was consumed by jealousy and shame. Naruto, however, had a horrible childhood. If he used it, who knows what kind of destruction he could cause on his teammates, innocents, and himself.
Sarutobi sighed. Honestly, if this village was destroyed by Naruto, he wouldn't know what to think. The villagers, especially the civilian council, were all fools. The ninja clans and Council were a mixed bunch. He really wouldn't mind too much if Naruto wiped the village of all its blemishes, but he was Hokage. He had the duty to protect this village, no matter what they do. If Naruto did do the ritual and tried to destroy Konoha, he would have to stop him.
He took out his pipe and began to puff on it. The last line of his notes always bothered him. It was the first user's last words. It was the hint he needed to know that the power wasn't worth it. He looked down at that line again as he breathed out a white cloud.
'Please… help me… please! I don't want to kill anymore.'
Within Naruto's mind, an odd spectacle was occurring. The Kyuubi's mouth was agape. Rows of shiny white teeth be seen, but no one paid attention to the death trap behind the cage. In the corner of the room, dark Naruto was holding his head, facing away from the center of the room, muttering and whining to himself, "I hate it when I'm right. I hate it when I'm right. I hate it when I'm riiiight!"
The focus of the two was of course Naruto. When he had activated the jutsu, he was drawing on the Kyuubi's chakra at the time. The Kyuubi was giddy since the seal started to weaken, and dark Naruto stood there proud as Naruto's anger and desire to attack Haku showed his darker nature. It was one step closer to being his true self.
However, the moment he activated the jutsu, both members of the room felt something change. For one, Naruto reappeared within his mindscape, but he appeared to be unconscious yet standing. When dark Naruto reached out to contact him, Naruto began to laugh hysterically. He looked up at the two, surprising both of them as black veins began to spread from his eyes. When they reached his clothing, instead of following his skin, it went over, making pathways along his outfit. And finally, once it reached the water, a circle with a radius of couple meters around Naruto turned black; the air in the circle turned misty with a dark cloud.
The entire scene was terrifying and surprising, so when the rage and hatred began to ooze out through the dark chakra, the pressure was enough to drive dark Naruto crazy and Kyuubi to overwhelming bewilderment.
After a minute of being frozen in this state, the Kyuubi finally snapped out of it and angrily roared at dark Naruto, "What is going on here!?"
Dark Naruto didn't look up from his corner, but the Kyuubi could hear his mutterings. "I was right… I was so right… I don't know which theory it was, but I was right!"
The Kyuubi growled. "Foolish boy, tell me what you know!"
"Theories… My theories… Why I didn't take over… This should have been in my predictions, or at least, I should have known there was some danger!" Dark Naruto began to sob in fear.
When he said theories, the Kyuubi could remember him talking about how either because of him or because of Naruto's own dark emotions, only a part of it was able to become sentient into dark Naruto. He began to think. That jutsu was supposed to engulf Naruto in dark chakra, much like how his chakra does. It protects and harms, hence the name "Shield and Sword." Yet, like his chakra, Naruto's behavior began to be influenced by hatred and anger.
So either his chakra had messed up the jutsu by enhancing Naruto's emotions, or Naruto's own dark emotions that he had repressed and ignored before meeting dark Naruto were so strong that any Intou jutsu that required this much dark chakra would make them come out and cause him to go berserk. And, there was an easy way to test this.
Naruto had just punched Haku, sending him flying. The Kyuubi retracted his chakra from Naruto and used Naruto's senses and dark Naruto's behavior to see if anything changed.
Change they did. He became more violent. He decimated Haku, shredding him to bits by impaling him. And even after the object of his rage was finished, Naruto was filled with another emotion: joy. But, this joy was not like what he usually felt when he succeeded in performing a jutsu or defeating an enemy. This was a bloodthirsty joy, needing more death and gore to fuel it.
The Kyuubi's jaw was again on the floor. 'My chakra was somehow abating his anger?' he thought. He looked back at dark Naruto, who was crying hysterically now as the chakra emanating from Naruto became heavier. "Boy!"
Still unresponsive yet mumbling through his tears, the fox could hear him propose another theory, although it was more of him complaining against the beast. "Why… Why did you take your chakra away? Your chakra was being used in that jutsu… Part of the emotions came from you, and now… Only Naruto's feelings are left… You're going to damn us!"
"… Are you saying that this boy's hatred and rage exceeds mine?!" the Kyuubi shouted, showing off his great anger. But, he felt it. His rage should have filled the room as his chakra flared, but it was pushed back by Naruto in the center. "Impossible! I have lived centuries while this boy has live not even two decades. How?!"
"It's like that she, he, Haku person said! When you have precious people, you gain true strength…" dark Naruto managed to say before crumbling again.
The Kyuubi was thunderstruck. The boy managed to create more hatred and rage just because someone he cared about was hurt. Naruto did ignore the relations between him and Sasuke due to his trust issues, but he knew that Naruto at the very least cared for him as a teammate.
He glared at the seal on his cage. "Your son is going berserk, Yondaime. You managed to seal me and protect the village, and yet, your Will of Fire that you proudly parade in Konoha has caused Naruto more pain than anything he has faced! Even though you thought up of everything for my seal, you failed to predict this?!" The seal remained quiet, but the Kyuubi didn't stop yelling. He wasn't afraid that Naruto would be consumed in hatred and anger. Honestly, that was best case scenario, but the blonde kid was making a big scene. Someone would notice, and someone would determine he is too dangerous to live. He roared at the seal, "You useless human!"
Outside Naruto's mind and in the real world, everyone was backing away from Naruto besides Kakashi and Sasuke, for obvious reasons.
Kakashi was dumbstruck. 'Is this the Kyuubi's handiwork?' He had felt the chakra before, although a lot more fear-inducing than he remembered, but now, he could only feel Naruto's chakra.
He took a look back to see Haku's mangled body. 'The poor boy,', he thought. He turned back around to see Naruto eyeing the mass of bandits on the other side of the bridge. He could tell that Naruto would most likely kill the bandits, and if circumstances were different, he would probably be doing the same thing. However, the bandits have given up. They may be pointing their weapons at Naruto, but Kakashi could see the fear and defeat in their faces. They wouldn't be harming anyone right now. Therefore, they were now innocents that had to be protected. Even if they were bandits that would kill once the threat was gone, Kakashi couldn't let one of his students go on an unwarranted massacre.
'Sorry, Naruto. I hope the Kyuubi can heal you after this.' He charged Naruto, kunai in hand. Naruto was too busy with his next prey to notice him. Once he got in range, Kakashi swung at Naruto's shoulder, hoping the shock would snap him out of whatever this was.
Unfortunately, his hopes were dashed as his weapon hit the dark chakra surrounding Naruto and was stopped. 'Should I try to go with taijutsu to see if blunt force can reach him?' Unfortunately for the jounin, the kunai began to melt as it came in contact with Naruto. Realizing that a single hit from Naruto could be a lot more dangerous than he thought, he jumped away and got ready for a counterattack.
Naruto, however, was still focused on the men. He began to walk towards them, the chakra around his arm forming into a long blade that reached the floor when his arm was by his side. Kakashi was running out of time. He began to perform hand signs and rushed Naruto again. The dark chakra was protective and somehow melted metal. He had one jutsu that not only managed to pierce the strongest of defenses but had sliced something that he suspected was much hotter and dangerous than the chakra.
"Raikiri!" If he could cut through lightning, he should be able to cut through this armor. Going at speeds only a few jounin could manage, he reached Naruto within a second and hit him with the full force of his jutsu.
It worked! It went through and speared Naruto's shoulder. He roared in pain, stumbling away from Kakashi. He turned around to see his offender and charged him, but Kakashi was too fast for him.
'Was that hit not enough? What is this jutsu?' Before he could create another Raikiri, he was surprised to see Naruto just fall over. The dark chakra dissipated, leaving Naruto behind. His shoulder was still bleeding heavily.
'Or maybe not… The Kyuubi might have realized it was too big of a risk to continue that technique.' But after one look at Naruto's shoulder, he realized something and mentally facepalmed himself for not realizing it sooner. If it was the Kyuubi in control, why was Naruto's shoulder still missing a chunk? Maybe this was one of the advanced Intou techniques the Hokage warned him about. When Naruto's shoulder began to heal rapidly, he realized that he was right on both fronts. Although the fox wasn't behind the jutsu, it did want Naruto to stop, so whatever this was must have been an Intou jutsu.
Naruto began stirring. "Ugh… Hatake? What happened?"
"Are you alright, Naruto?" Kakashi asked, dodging the question. Until he knew what it was, it didn't think it would be wise to tell him anything just yet.
Naruto nodded. "Mostly. My shoulder is sore, and I feel like I was pumped full of adrenaline. I don't feel too good."
Before Kakashi could come up with a reason or divert Naruto's attention, they heard a female scream. Both of them recognized it. "Sakura!" they both exclaimed, looking toward her direction.
Some of the bandits had a dagger up to her neck while others were holding Tazuna down. The bandit holding Sakura hostage stuttered, "D-Don't move. I-If you m-move from there, I'll c-cut her neck."
'Shit… Oi, dark me! Could I use Intou: Warugi from here without connecting to their shadows or getting close range?'
There was a small silence which both worried and relieved Naruto. But, he heard a response. '… N-no. Unless you get close, it won't work.'
Naruto didn't understand why he heard fear in his voice, but he had other matters to attend to. 'Maybe I should use Intou: Tatetoken.'
'No!/No!' he heard his dark self and the Kyuubi scream.
'Wha- Why not?!' Naruto questioned.
"Katon: Hibashiri." A trail of fire traveled from the left. It missed everyone completely, but it got the bandit's attention, including the one holding Sakura. Kakashi didn't let the opportunity go to waste.
Going through an array of hand signs, he exclaimed, "Suiton: Daibakufu no Jutsu! (Water Style: Great Waterfall Jutsu)" Using Zabuzza's jutsu he copied during the fight on the lake's coast, a giant vortex of water raised from the water under the bridge, crashing on the group. Most of the damage was done to the bandits behind the hostage-holder, but the water still was enough to topple him over. When the water receded, Naruto ran to grab Sakura.
When the bandits saw him, they froze and started screaming. The odd reaction stopped Naruto. The bandits were terrified of him.
"Please, just take her and let us go!" one bandit pleaded.
"Oh god, I didn't sign up to kill a monster," another one started screaming crazily.
"Fuck you, demon! I'll kill myself if you take another step!" a third yelled.
Kakashi moved past the stunned Naruto and picked up Sakura. "Naruto," he said.
Naruto looked at his sensei. "Hatake, what is going on?"
"We're leaving," he said, moving over to the now awake Sasuke. Using that jutsu drained him of whatever chakra he had recovered in his down time. Kakashi picked him up over his shoulder while hold Sakura under his arm.
Naruto took one look at the bandits, who began to flee in any way possible, including jumping off the bridge, before following after Kakashi.
A few days later, they were on their way back to Konoha. Sasuke was brought up to date about what had happened, although details about Naruto going berserk were kept from him. Sakura, although terrified of Nightmare Naruto (as Kakashi and her were calling it), still stuck around him. She did flinch if he ever raised his voice.
Naruto however was frustrated the entire time. No one would tell him anything about what had happened. Sakura was apparently told not to tell Naruto anything, and whenever he asked Kakashi, he would change the subject and either give him more training, which was redundant, or find a way to escape.
The entire Wave country gave them a big send off as well. Inari was bawling since the only guy he looked up to ever since his father died was leaving. Naruto, not used to the attention, awkwardly tried to cheer him up by promising he'd be back one day. It worked.
As they waked the path back, he heard a voice. "Kit, we need to talk."
He was suddenly pulled into his mindscape and faced the caged Bijuu. "Oh, so now you want to talk. You couldn't answer any of my questions the past few days, why?"
"Neither you or your mind were in the right place. Once you are back in Konoha, it should be safer for you, so telling you now is the best time."
Naruto stopped his scowling and got serious. "Alright… what happened? And where did dark me go?"
"He's hiding from you until we see how you handle the truth," the Kyuubi answered, only giving the blonde more questions, but before he could ask any of them, the fox interrupted him. "Let me tell you what happened, and you'll understand."
Naruto took a little bit of time to calm himself to the point where he would listen and nodded.
The Kyuubi began, "That new jutsu you made, kit, you went berserk. You slaughtered that Haku boy, would have killed all of the bandits, and possibly and most likely would have attacked your team."
At this, Naruto's eyes widened. "What do you mean? It is just a defensive and offensive jutsu!"
The fox shook his head. "That isn't the problem. I was going through some of the memories that your dark self brought through that ritual. Have a look at one of them."
Naruto felt himself being dragged into another mind. A man was taunting him, calling him a 30 year old Genin. He realized that this was his predecessor's memories.
"I won't be a Genin for long! Intou: Sessuru! Intou: Tsukisasu!" The shadow raced along the floor and connected with the man's shadow.
Naruto shrugged. "I don't understand why you are showing me this."
"Keep watching," he heard.
When his predecessor completed his second jutsu, 3 shadow blades appeared from the man's shadow and pierced him with precision. The memory ended with him laughing with glee.
Naruto was back in his mindscape. The Kyuubi asked, "Do you see the difference between when your predecessor uses that jutsu and when you do?"
"I mean, not really. There were fewer blades, and they seemed to hit a certain target, but-"
"EXACTLY!" his voice thundered. He stared at Naruto intensely. "Because you are a jinchuuriki or someone who has a Bijuu sealed in them, you have a lot more chakra than him, meaning less control. Because of that, you have much more of this dark chakra that the demonic ritual gave you. It doesn't seem like it is an issue when dormant, but when you use high amounts of it like with your new jutsu, it overtakes you, letting all your dark emotions out and force them to keep running. You slaughtered everyone out of pure joy because you were satiating some small part of those feelings."
Naruto was taken aback. He was always surprising others, so to feel surprise himself was different. "That… how…", he said, trying to get the right words.
"H-He's not lying," a voice said behind him. Naruto turned around to see his dark self, cowering behind the entrance to the room. "Y-You were exuding so much d-dark chakra that it almost overwhelmed me. I kinda lost it."
"Overwhelm… Hehehe, isn't that what you were supposed to do?" Naruto joked.
His dark self got angry. "This isn't funny. If you use that jutsu again, I don't know what will happen! Good thing Hatake was able to break the jutsu's defense and hurt you so that we had an opening. The loss of physical energy was enough to lower your chakra levels to the point where you wouldn't go crazy. I dragged you out of it after that."
Naruto really didn't know what to say. He knew that this power had a price, but when he integrated with his dark self, he thought it was over. "H-hey, w-wait… maybe the Kyuubi had a hand in it. Yeah, maybe his chakra was making it worse." He turned around and grinned nervously as he tried to joke, "I mean, you're angry all the time like a grumpy, old man."
The other two weren't amused. "Kit, I stopped my flow of chakra halfway through your rampage. When I did, it got even worse." He stood up to show his towering form, even though most of it was obscured by the cage. "You have a lot of repressed anger and hate, but none of it compares to mine. But… when Sasuke got hurt, your anger and hatred exceeded mine." He stared into Naruto's eyes. "Do you understand? You reached levels of power through emotion that took centuries for me to build up."
Naruto laughed weakly. "C'mon, Sasuke? Why would I get angry if he died? He's just an arrogant teammate. Nothing special." When the two didn't budge, Naruto just collapsed. He didn't know how, but he did consider Sasuke important. Maybe not friend level, but losing him was not an option. He didn't know what to say or do, so he just sat there. "Why… why did I get angry when Sasuke seemingly died? I know he wasn't dead. I could read Haku's dark thoughts."
"Because, although you've tried to deny this, you do care about Sasuke. As Haku said, he is one of your precious people. After all, he's the only one that actually tries to get close to you. Unfortunately, your starved little mind desired any type of attention, even though you believed to have beaten your loneliness through fear of trusting people. When he got hurt, you gained a strength similar to your Yondaime Hokage when I attacked Konoha. The same will and inner strength was there, what your village calls the Will of Fire…" The Kyuubi paused to see if Naruto understood or not, and it seemed like he did. So he decided to wrap it up. "It was there, but in him, it created light. He had a desire to protect those he cared about. In you, it created darkness. You desired to kill everyone who was a threat to you, and once your hatred and anger reached a point, you had gone so far that killing anybody who might attack you was bringing you joy. Anything that help you vent was in your path."
"… I almost killed Sasuke… Sakura… Hatake… because I care about them?" Naruto whispered.
"We can't use that jutsu again, or any jutsu that requires that much chakra. We'll end up doing more horrible things if we do," dark Naruto said quietly.
"… Why?" Naruto looked up. Kyuubi and dark Naruto could see the desperation in his eyes. "Can't I use a little bit of my own chakra to balance things out?" He finally got a power that could protect him, that could keep him hidden. But now, it was a curse.
Dark Naruto shook his head. "I mean technically, you are using your own chakra. If the demon that was here didn't keep infusing his spiritual energy into you every time you think of using an Intou jutsu, it would just be normal chakra."
Both Naruto's and the Kyuubi's heads snapped to the blonde's dark counterpart. "What?!/What?!"
Dark Naruto took a step back. "What?"
"What do you mean the demon that's here?!" Naruto shouted.
Dark Naruto gave him a puzzled look. "I told you. You summoned a demon to give you access to the other jutsus. Both you and the predecessor have an alignment to dark chakra due to your pasts, so doing the simple jutsus is easy enough with normal chakra, but you need true dark chakra in order to pull off any of the harder ones," he explained.
The Kyuubi glowered at him. "So this demon is just watching us?"
"Well, yeah; shouldn't you know that? The info was in the memories," he replied.
"You brought in 31 years of memories!" the Kyuubi roared. "I've been going through the ones that looked the most important, like ones about the techniques in order for the kit to perform them better if he needs advice."
Dark Naruto shrugged. "Well, it's too late anyways. He's somewhere in here. You could probably find him if you tried. Though," he pointed to Naruto, "you're never in here for long enough. And, you're," he pointed to Kyuubi, "stuck in there."
Before Naruto could respond, he suddenly heard a familiar voice that brought him out of his mindscape.
"Naruto-kun?" Sakura asked, noticing his blank yet heavy gaze while admiring her crush.
The light in his eyes came back, and he turned to look at her, "What is it, Sakura?"
"Oh, it's nothing," she said, glad he was back to normal. "Hey, do you want to go get something to eat when we get back?"
"I'm sorry, Sakura, but I'm going to have to say no… I need some time alone when I get back," Naruto replied.
"Oh," she said dejectedly. Kakashi was listening in and wondered if Naruto somehow managed to remember what had happened. He sighed. He had to get the most troublesome team there was. The worst part was that Naruto seemed to want to get close ever since they had made the new team formations, but now, they were back to square one.
They reached the gate. Kotetsu and Izumo, the Chunins that were constantly on guard duty, greeted. "Team 7 back from its mission."
"Kakashi-san. The Hokage wants to see you," Kotetsu said.
The one-eyed jounin turned around to face his team. "Alright, you guys have a few days off to rest before team meetings start up again. Understood?" Sasuke and Sakura nodded, but Naruto acknowledged his statement by walking past him. Kakashi sighed, ignoring the looks from the two guards.
The Hokage was reading a small purple book. He seemed very wary as he read it, but whenever he would glance at it, he would giggle.
When a cloud of smoke appeared in his office, he immediately put the book away, but seeing that it was Kakashi, he brought the book back up. "Have you been re-reading any of the older Icha Icha's, Kakashi?"
The jounin smiled. "Of course. Not recently since I'm in the middle of reading the most recent one again." They both laughed. Then, Kakashi got serious. "Hokage-sama, I must give my mission reports."
The Hokage nodded. "Go on then."
Kakashi then gave him all the details about Tazuna, the Wave Country, how the C-rank mission turned A-rank, and Zabuzza and Haku. Throughout, Sarutobi was shocked, but he kept up appearances. When Kakashi told him that everyone was safe back in the village, he internally let out a sigh of relief. "Alright, Kakashi. So what about your other task?"
Kakashi took in a deep breath, making the old man curious. Then, the jounin gave him the most serious stare he had seen him give since his childhood days before Obito died. "Hokage-sama, I think Naruto did do the ritual."
The Hokage's eyes widened. He gripped the edge of his desk in concern and anger for allowing Naruto to get to the scroll. "How did you find out?"
"Well, I had my suspicions when he used a certain jutsu to make our hostage, Haku, talk. It apparently warped his beliefs about his relationships, making him feel like his master betrayed him," Kakashi told him.
The Hokage cursed. "Kakashi, you are right. Naruto indeed has done the ritual. That jutsu you are talking about is called Warugi. The Genin that used the style first broke apart teams, both outside and inside of the village, by making them turn on each other. It is the strongest jutsu Naruto has on him."
"Strongest?" Kakashi asked.
Sarutobi looked at him with seriousness. "That jutsu could destroy an entire village from the inside out. None of the other jutsus were as powerful."
"No, Hokage-sama. I understand the implications of such jutsus," Kakashi interrupted. "But that was not my question. Naruto used a jutsu that seemed far more powerful than that one." Kakashi then described what he saw and how he confirmed that the Kyuubi was not behind it.
At this, the Hokage stood up in shock. "Are you sure this was a jutsu?"
Kakashi shook his head. "Not entirely sure, sir, but it had similar properties as the rest of his Intou jutsus."
"Kakashi… that jutsu you saw was not one of the ones in the Forbidden Scroll. The Genin had no such thing as that," he said.
"What? Then… did Naruto make up those jutsus by himself?" Kakashi said in disbelief.
Sarutobi sighed. "It is possible. In truth, we are not sure where the first jutsus came from. We had believed that the demon had made all of them, but considering that Naruto was able to create a new one, it seems like the user has some say in how he or she uses it." The leader thought for a while before saying, "The jutsus that are possible to perform without the Kagegan ritual may be the demon's handiwork, but now that I think about it, all the other jutsus seem to be human made."
"What makes you say that?"
"The first user desired power, the ability to decimate anyone in his way and to get whatever he wants. His jealousy and anger at those who teased him engulfed him, making him only think of overwhelming them in strength and rank, both ninja rank and social rank. If you think about it, all the Intou jutsus that were in the Forbidden Scroll exemplify this. They are either powerful ninjutsus that could kill an enemy as long as he was on the ground or horrible techniques that warp a person's beliefs." He took a puff from his pipe. "As for Naruto, this new jutsu protects him while giving him power. It has been a long time since I have personally spoken with the boy, as it seems that he may not trust me, but the new jutsu somewhat fits his ideology from his childhood before he wanted to be a shinobi: to protect himself and to protect those he cares about," he explained.
Kakashi sighed. The only good thing out of this entire debacle is that if the Hokage was right, then Naruto had a desire to protect his teammates.
"Is there anything else?" Sarutobi asked.
"What should I do with Naruto? Should I leave him alone or confront him? I honestly have no idea, sir," Kakashi said, tiredly.
Again, Sarutobi had a contemplative look before responding. "I don't think Naruto desires to hurt his teammates, so I doubt he will use that jutsu again. But whether or not you confront him will be up to you. At this point, you know him better than I do."
Kakashi nodded and shushined away. The Hokage sat down. He didn't even feel like reading his book anymore. The blonde Genin was too much of a worry for him. He turned around to the Yondaime's portrait. "Minato… I really wish you were here. You would know how to take care of your son better than I do."
(Three Days Later)
All of Team 7 besides their sensei were at their usual meeting place, a small bridge that was over a small stream. Sasuke and Sakura had gotten there first. Naruto had arrived there later but ignored any greetings from the two. Sasuke was wondering what had happened, but Sakura had an idea. 'Maybe Naruto-kun remembered what he did,' she thought.
With a poof, Kakashi appeared in front of them, holding three slips of paper. "Hello, you three."
Suddenly, everyone was guard. Sasuke and Sakura had their kunai out while Naruto had his Kageken out. Kakashi was more than a little confused at their reaction.
"Guys, what's wrong?" he asked.
"I don't know," Naruto said. "You should know that yourself, Hatake, if that really is you."
Sakura nodded. "Why are you here early, sensei?" She said "sensei" with emphasis and sarcasm.
Kakashi sighed. So this was the consequence of being late all the time. "Well, I would have been late, but I have to give you three something. I'm nominating you three for the Chuunin exams."
"Chuunin exams?" asked Sakura.
"They're the exams required for Genin to rise to the rank of Chuunin. If you want to join, come meet at the building specified on the form tomorrow at 9," he said before poofing away.
Sasuke looked at Naruto. Even after what he had discussed with Kakashi, he still felt a rivaling relationship. Naruto somehow managed to defeat Haku and save Wave Country. Even if Haku was low on chakra, Naruto didn't have the Sharingan, so he should not been able to see Haku, much less catch up to him.
"Do you want to go on a date, Naruto-kun?" Sakura asked again. Naruto ignored her and began to walk off when Sasuke called him out.
"Naruto, let's spar," he demanded.
That did stop Naruto in his tracks for a moment, but he resumed walking anyways. This irked Sasuke, who was about to rush in and start the spar the hard way with a kunai, but Sakura stopped him. "Sasuke-kun, I don't think you should spar with Naruto."
He glared at her, making her cower. "Why the hell not?"
"W-well... I don't want my teammates getting hurt," she eeked out.
"Hmph, don't worry. It won't go that far," Sasuke said, ready to chase after Naruto.
"It wasn't supposed to go that far in that mission either," Sakura mumbled.
Unfortunately for her, Sasuke heard her and spun around. Grabbing her by her collar, he angrily ordered her to answer. "What the hell do you mean? What happened when I was out?"
A hand suddenly reached out and twisted Sasuke's. The odd angle made him let go of Sakura. When he was let go, he glared at the attacker, only surprised to see it was Naruto. He looked angry, but it seemed like he was holding back. "Guess we will have that spar, Uchiha."
Sasuke jumped back and took out a kunai. "Hmph, about time."
Naruto motioned Sakura to stand back. He began to run chakra through his eyes, letting him see Sasuke's thoughts.
'I will get stronger than he is. I will keep fighting him until I can beat him into the ground. He is powerful. If I can defeat him, I'll go after Itachi and end his life.'
Naruto scoffed quietly. 'So that's his reasoning, huh,' Naruto thought.
Activating his Kageken, he got ready. "Sakura, we start on your mark."
"Huh? Oh, alright, Naruto-kun," she took one look at Sasuke and prayed he would still be alive at the end of it. "Please be safe the both of you." She took in a deep breath and shouted, "Start!"
Naruto immediately charged Sasuke. Surprised by the sudden difference in attack styles, he barely blocked the shadow blade. Before he could push him off, Naruto slammed his head into his. He reeled back from the hit and couldn't dodge or move away when Naruto said, "Intou: Sessuru." With their shadows connected, Sasuke was wide-eyed at the fact that Naruto managed to do that jutsu without hand signs.
Naruto jumped away, the shadows still connected. "Sorry, Uchiha, but I'm in a really shitty mood. Intou: Kisei no Habikoru."
Sasuke's shadows reached up to him in tendrils. Grabbing onto his arms and legs, Sasuke could feel his chakra being sucked out of him. "Naruto, what are you doing?"
"Naruto-kun! Stop!" Sakura shouted.
However, Naruto didn't budge and let the jutsu go on for another minute. At the end of it, Sasuke was breathing heavily. He released the jutsu and began to walk away. Sasuke tried to sit up, but he didn't have the energy to fight anymore. "Naruto!" he shouted. "Come back and finish our fight!"
"Our fight is finished. It was finished the moment you let yourself be defeated by Haku," Naruto said without turning around, infuriating Sasuke.
He stood up and grabbed another kunai, the other flung somewhere after the headbutt. He charged Naruto this time, trying to get the first hit in, but Naruto saw him coming from a mile away. Reading his thoughts, he knew about Sasuke's next tactic. As long as his moves were fueled by negative emotions, Sasuke's entire plan was out for Naruto to see.
As he got close and Naruto got ready to block, a voice suddenly interjected. 'Kill him. He's more useful dead than alive.' It wasn't his dark self or Kyuubi, but it was definitely a third voice.
Being distracted however, Naruto forgot about what he was doing, so when Sasuke swung down, the kunai hit its mark and dug into the blonde's shoulder. Sasuke, surprised that his simple attack worked, stood there, unsure of what to do. Naruto looked up at him in reflex to see his attacker, and what Sasuke saw made him realize a little bit of why Sakura was so afraid.
The white of Naruto's eyes turned pitch black, and his irises turned bloody red. The pupil was slit like an animal's. But beyond all that, it wasn't the look that caught his attention. He was surprised at the new look, but any Genjutsu and most doujustu could replicate a different eye color.
But as Sasuke looked into his eyes, he felt something he hadn't felt truly since the Uchiha massacre: extreme amounts of fear and panic. It was as if Naruto's eyes were somehow infusing him with the very emotions themselves.
However, as quickly as he saw them, they disappeared. Naruto grunted, turning around as he pulled the sharp weapon from his flesh. He dropped it behind him and began walking in the direction he originally was heading before.
Sakura walked up to Sasuke and was about to give him a piece of her mind about wounding her crush, but she saw an expression that was too familiar, since she had the same look recently: horror. Whatever Sasuke saw while he was close to Naruto must have gave him the glimpse into what Nightmare Naruto was, she concluded. Since she realized Sasuke got his punishment already, she took after Naruto, hoping that she could help with his wound and ask him out again. But, he was gone by the time she turned the corner, leaving Sasuke to his thoughts.
With Naruto, he finally made it back to his apartment. Resetting the traps so that he wouldn't be disturbed by any civilians thinking it would be funny to pin the tail on the fox, he laid on his bed and re-entered his mindscape.
When he opened his eyes, he woke up not in front of the Kyuubi's cage where he left in the first place but in another room. He knew it was his mind since the brown walls and the flooded floors were still the same, but unlike the other rooms, this one had furniture. It had a desk big enough for two people and two black chairs, one that he was sitting in.
A sudden black mist materialized in front of the other. Naruto tried to get into a defensive position, but he couldn't stand up from the chair. It was as if he was glued. When the mist condensed, it revealed a black figure that could only be described as a demon. It's skin was like a bug's carapace: dull yet tough looking. The limbs were like an insects, but the openings where the joints were revealed a grey flesh. Speaking of the joints, none of them looked large enough to carry the limbs at all. The demon's face was hidden by a black mist, but the sharp blades on its head as its horns were terrifying enough.
The demon smirked. Naruto glared at it, trying to activate any jutsu, but nothing was working. The demon then laughed. "Honestly, do you really think any offensive jutsu of yours would work? You don't have a single jutsu that doesn't require my spiritual energy to work."
Hearing this, Naruto settled down, in surprise, but it was only for a moment. "You're the one that I summoned."
The demon laughed again. "Summoned? You fool, you really think someone like you with no knowledge of black magic could actually summon me? You got my attention with that ritual. The entire reason I showed up was because you intrigue me, Uzumaki Naruto."
"Magic? What's that?" Naruto asked.
The demon waved it off. "Nothing you have to concern yourself with right now."
Naruto growled. This thing wasn't showing the tiniest bit of respect at all. Even with arrogant pricks, you at least got the respect they gave any human being, but the demon acted as if Naruto was lower than an object. "You said I intrigue you?" Naruto asked. "Why?"
"Why?... WHY?! Hahahahaha! Why wouldn't a demon be interested in you? You've shown great potential for a human, possibly greater than any other human before you," the demon cackled.
"Potential? You mean with the Intou jutsus?" Naruto responded.
The demon's mood suddenly went south. "Tch, no. Those jutsus are a product of a failure. I don't understand why you would use any of those jutsus when you can just create your own… Though then again, when you do lose it, you are so creative with them. That stupid man years ago was so precise. All he cared about was power." The demon stood up, towering over Naruto's sitting form."You however care about power, but you enjoy ripping your enemies apart. Your last battle was truly a sight of sore eyes. I don't think I've seen a murder like that in decades," it said, the euphoria from the blood lust evident on its face.
Naruto crossed his arms. "Unfortunately for you, I don't remember that kill at all. I enjoyed nothing."
The demon stood up. Thinking it was going to attack her, Naruto tried again to get into a defensive stance but failed miserably. Before he could figure out a plan to protect himself, the demon grabbed his head, and with a grin, said, "You'll remember now."
Naruto's vision was suddenly filled with scenes: a whirlwind of punches, blood, gore, and Haku's shattered mask pieces raced across, as he saw everything he did to Haku: how he overpowered him and decimated him.
The sudden explosion of memories stopped, and Naruto collapsed onto his chair, breathing heavily. He looked up to curse at the demon, but instead, was met with a mirror.
It was him.
And he was smiling.
The demon poked its head out from behind the mirror. "You… enjoyed… everything." It said in a taunting voice.
Naruto looked away. He couldn't deny it. It was a rare emotion, but he did indeed feel joyful. He felt great.
And the worst part? He didn't feel bad about killing Haku. He wished he hadn't, but he wasn't disgusted or repulsed by what he did.
He looked up at it. "What do you want?"
"What I want? Hmm," the demon said, obviously playing around. Naruto's eye twitched at the lack of seriousness. "I want to watch you and help you out when you need it."
"… That's it?" Naruto asked.
The demon grinned. "That's it. You not only have tons of darkness in your soul and are a jinchuuriki, but you have the Kyuubi out of all the Bijuu, and your newest jutsu was the epitome of mass murder. It's as if the stars are lining up to make sure all the dark forces influence your life in some way. Therefore, you intrigue me. I'm curious to see what will happen if I let the chaos focus on you."
Naruto's eye resumed twitching. "So not only are you using me as entertainment, but you're basically watching to see how the universe will keep fucking with me."
The demon nodded. "Pretty much."
Naruto sighed. "Alright, say that I don't have a problem with this. Unfortunately for the both of us, I can't use any of my advanced techniques that I create. The one jutsu that I create backfired horribly."
"And while I enjoyed the senseless violence, I do understand the predicament. It wouldn't be too much fun if you lost it completely and got so much attention that someone puts you down. On the other hand, if you didn't use any of those jutsus, you wouldn't be that great off since you need better jutsus to become stronger than the other shinobi, and it would be boring for me. So, of course, I'll have to teach you how to deal with those issues." The demon waved its hand, and the room changed shape. The furniture sunk into the floor while the walls faded away. As soon as Naruto blinked however, he found himself in the training ground where he had his Genin test. He turned around to see the demon standing there, near the posts. "I'm going to have you face your new fears."
"Are you one of them?" Naruto joked. "You do look like something out of a nightmare."
The demon seem to smirk. "Well, I am glad you like my appearance, but I only hold this form because it is easier to convince people that I am a demon. I could hold any form I want, such as:" A wall of darkness separated Naruto from the demon, and when the wall came down, Naruto was shocked to see a human girl.
She laughed. "Out of all the things I could do, you humans always seem so charmed by my shapeshifting abilities. It's not even that hard," she said with a light, cute voice.
The demon was 5'2 and had traditional Japanese clothing on. Her black hair that adorned with a grey-ish red headband. Her clothing consisted of a black kimono with a grey obi. The length of the kimono only reached far down enough to prevent anybody from seeing her underwear if they were both standing. Seeing a kimono at miniskirt length was making Naruto seriously consider the truth of what his dark counterpart said about him hitting puberty. She wore black sandals, and without any socks, her legs were bare for all to see.
When he noticed the amusement in her eyes, he regained his composure and cleared his throat. "I see you're not a big fan of color."
The demon shrugged. "Don't want you to forget how intimidating I can be in this form. If I wanted, I could be a lot more colorful, but then again, I'm not a succubus."
"Could have fooled me," Naruto said under his breath.
"Well, if you want, I could take up the image of a burly man with too much hair who doesn't wear too much, but I rather you not be too scarred when I try to hug you, and I'm pretty sure this form is much less distracting."
Naruto shuddered at the thought. "So, do you have a name?"
The demon thought for a moment. "Well, I don't think I want a human calling me by my true name… Call me… Yami!"
Naruto rolled his eyes. "Soooooo original. A demon called Darkness."
Yami raised her hand towards Naruto. Suddenly, the blonde found himself in extreme amounts of pain. After 10 seconds of pure agony, the pain disappeared, leaving Naruto to fall to his knees, breathing heavily.
"I see the image of the burly man might have been necessary. You seem to forget who you are talking to," Yami said with a seriousness she hadn't used until now. She immediately went back to her cheerful demeanor. "Now, let's start!" She snapped her fingers, and a group of six mercenaries popped up. Naruto's eyes widened in horror. He recognized some of them. They were part of the mercenary group from the Wave.
"You were prevented from killing these meat bags the first time. Soooo, have fuuun!" Yami said mirthfully. The mercenaries charged Naruto, forcing him to defend.
He tried to summon his Kageken, but nothing happened. He dodged out of the way of the first attacks and moved away to get some distance.
"Ah ah ah," Yami chanted, "No weapons here. You'll have to kill them with your bare hands."
"How am I supposed to do that?" Naruto shouted, trying to get more distance away from the group.
"Hehe, well, I can't tell you; that would ruin the fun!" Yami exclaimed excitedly.
"Tsk, shit." Naruto looked at the group and realized that he would have to take them out one by one. He focused on the nearest one and looked over his body. 'What points could I hit to make him go down?'
When the mercenary he was looking at swung his blade, Naruto weaved under it, swinging his fist into the man's stomach. He then smashed his elbow into the side of his neck. "Gotcha!" Hits like that would knock out an adult.
But, the man seemed unfazed and resumed attacking, forcing Naruto to jump back again. "What the hell? How is he still moving?!"
Yami smiled. "I told you that you needed to kill them. Other methods of winning this battle aren't available."
Naruto stared at the demon in disbelief before cursing. He didn't survive this long with a code of morals. He just didn't want to do it the hard way, and he most certainly didn't want to do what this bitch told him to do.
The man finally caught up to Naruto and swung again. But, Naruto rolled out of the way and swung his leg into the back of the man's knee. The man buckled from the hit, letting Naruto get up and kick him down. The man, trying to get up as quickly as possible, let himself roll until he was right side up, but Naruto was too quick. When the man was on his back, Naruto let his foot crash into the man's neck, snapping the cartilage in his trachea.
Naruto let out a breath and turned around to face the others. But as he tried to formulate a strategy, the man grabbed his leg. Thinking that the demon lied to him, Naruto was about to kick the man's hand away and jump back, when he saw something he didn't expect.
In the man's eyes, he saw horror. He saw the light slowly dim away as the life dissipated from his body. It was made even worse by the rasping sound as the man tried his best to force air through his airway but failing to do so.
When the man died, he laid there for a moment before turning to black dust and fading away. However, the blade was left behind. Thinking he was lucky, Naruto picked up the blade, only to notice that it was really dull. It might be more effective than his fists, but it was definitely not the best thing on hand.
As the others approached him, Naruto tried his best to wield the blade, but not knowing any stances, he found it hard to use. Depending on the region, swords were made and used differently. A katana used its thin blade to precisely cut through everything while a longsword used its weight to cut and crush things in its path. The blade he had looked like it was made to simply create gashes. It most likely was made by a poor blacksmith.
A few of them rushed him this time. Using his reflexes, he first dodged around every single slash, which was harder to do with the extra weight. When he was behind all of them, he slashed behind him, giving one of the mercenaries a big open wound. Naruto swore he saw something white before the blood covered it.
The other two turned around to swing at Naruto again, but this time, he only dodge one of the attacks and swiped at the second mercenary's leg as he ducked under the blade. Once he was down, Naruto quickly did the same move, leaving a gash on the man's neck. It was large enough to go through the toughness of the vertebrae, cutting the spinal cord. The man fell forward.
The third mercenary turned around again, but this time, he didn't charge. 'Must be learning. I didn't think Yami would go this far,' Naruto thought. He charged this time, and when he got close, he saw the man tense to defend himself.
But then, Naruto dropped his blade, giving him a slight speed boost, and he jumped over the man's attack. Landing on the man's head, Naruto jumped off him again, making the man stagger and fall down onto his butt. He then landed on the man's chest, caving the poor guy's chest. As the man coughed and rasped, Naruto looked at the other mercenary that he cut, and seeing that the man bled out, turned to face the rest.
The last two stayed where they were. Seeing that they learned from his previous attacks, Naruto decided that he'd have to change up his tactics. He charged them again, and he saw the men tense in preparation. He realized that they most likely would anticipate another aerial attack, so this time, when he got close and the men began to swing, he slid under one of the man's legs. Grabbing onto the ankles as he slid by, he turned himself around, and using the momentum, got back onto his feet. The momentum also carried Naruto so far that the man's legs were pulled out from under him, making his skull smash into the ground. Before the other man turned around to face him, he jumped and kicked him in the chest, making him fall as well.
Since the man he just kicked was facing up, he used the same tactic and crushed his trachea. He looked behind him to kill the last man, but the last man did the one thing he didn't expect: beg.
"Please!" he shouted through his sobbing, "I don't want to die! I'm just a hired mercenary. I'll leave if you let me."
Yami came up behind him. "Kill him. You know you want to."
"… no… I don't want to," he whispered.
Yami smiled as if Naruto just told a joke. "I can tell that you're lying. And even if I couldn't, anybody could see that sick smile on your face."
Naruto instantly moved his hands up to his face, and sure enough, he was smiling again. When he realized this, he noticed something else: the joy he was feeling. He looked back at all the dead bodies, and any of the mercenaries that dies a slower death, he felt a bigger joy. He turned around to face the last alive man, and the thought of killing him even slower made his heart jump. He wanted to kill. Knowing this, he lunged forward and strangled the man. Every gasping sound the man made only fueled Naruto's lust for death, and when the man finally stopped moving, Naruto squeezed as hard as he could, trying to literally squish the life out of him.
After what seemed like forever, he finally let go, breathing hard and laughing. It felt good. It felt way too good.
Yami was clapping and cheering. "I knew you could do it! Haha, that is beyond sick."
"… more…" Naruto said.
Yami grinned. "Well, of course; although, this is going to be a little different." She snapped her fingers again, and Naruto heard the sound of feet hitting grass behind him. He turned around to kill the next victims.
Only to find Sakura and Sasuke.
"Your next task," Yami said, "is to kill your teammates."
She expected the same sick grin on his face when he heard it, so she was surprised to see a look of defiance instead. "I refuse," Naruto said.
Yami was silent. She then giggled for a few seconds before suddenly getting serious. "I think you're forgetting who you're talking to."
Raising her hand again, she made Naruto feel intense pain. Seeing him squirm and yell made Yami smile. "Now, kill your teammates!" she ordered.
"F… Fuck you!" Naruto screamed back.
The smile was gone. Yami was now furious. "I see. Well, I guess I have to teach you a new lesson: why it is never a good idea to fuck with me."
The pain got 10 times worse. Naruto was screaming as hard as he could as he dropped to the ground. Yami walked over and stood over him. "Now, what do you have to say for yourself?"
Then again, she was surprised by Naruto when he began laughing through the pain. As he bowled over again, he screamed, "Fuck you!"
Yami stomped on his head. "You piece of shit. I try and be nice to you by letting you reach your full potential, and this is the thanks I get?" She turned up the pain by 100 times. "Huh? Aren't you going to say anything? Or are you just going to keep screaming?"
The pain was literally worse than anything Naruto has ever experienced. He has been crucified, burned, and electrocuted, but this was worse.
Yami smiled as she kept stomping. "Huh?! Can't say anything anymore?! This is what you get! Next time, when I tell you to kill your teammates, maybe you'll-"
She was cut off as Naruto grabbed her ankle as she brought her foot down again. Angry at the continuing defiance, she was about to turn up the pain when she heard from Naruto, "Stop…"
"Oh? Are you finally ready to play properly?" she asked, mocking him. But when she tried to pull her foot away, Naruto didn't let go. "Wha- What are you doing?"
"I said stop!" Naruto shouted.
"Let go of my foot, you pervert!" she yelled. She turned up the pain, but Naruto still didn't let go. She was about to kick him with her other leg, but she stopped when she heard something different from Naruto. Her eyes widened in surprise when Naruto suddenly screamed, "STOP IT!"
A blast of dark energy exploded from Naruto, sending Yami flying backwards. When she landed, she pushed off the ground and got back into a standing pose. Looking up from the ground, she saw a sight she didn't think she'd see in here.
A giant demon like form had surrounded Naruto. If one looked carefully, Naruto's silhouette could be seen in the center. But, the beast that stood 80 feet tall with a monstrous, human-like face formed in a scowl and blades for horns on top of its head was truly the only thing that drew attention. Yami could only stare.
When she finally regained her composure, she laughed confidently. "You think pretending to be one of my kind will work? HA! I'll show you how wrong you are." She ran up to the monster and punched it as hard as she could, putting all her demonic strength into it.
And, it didn't even budge.
"What?!" Yami screeched. She was about to hit the form again but was interrupted as a giant fist smashed her into the ground with lightning speeds. When the hand lifted, she could be seen in a crater. She struggled to get up, but when she got half way out of the ground, the hand grabbed her and slammed her into the grass, creating a new crater.
She looked up at the monster. "What are you?" What kind of human has this strength to beat a demon? The only type of people with a power on their own that could be a threat would be…
Her eyes widened in realization. "A child of destiny? Here?!" A child of destiny was a person whose fate was guided by the heavens. They would either cause great peace or great destruction. But either way, they always had two similar qualities: power and will.
She growled. "Even if you are a child of destiny, you won't defeat me! I am a demon from the 6th Circle of Hell, and I refuse to be defeated by a hu-" She suddenly screamed. She looked down and saw her legs missing. Looking up, the monster's fist must have literally pulled her legs off by crushing them right below her hip. Her legs faded into the demon, and the demon's power exploded again. Her eyes widened when she realized what just happened. Naruto just absorbed her power. They were on equal terms now.
She cursed. "I'll get you back for this. I'll slice up your teammates right in front of you and enjoy every single tear you fucking shed!" She, like the dead mercenaries, turned to black dust and faded away.
When she disappeared, the monstrous form disappeared as well. And when that disappeared, Naruto found himself in the familiar room of his cage.
"Kit, what happened?" the Kyuubi asked.
"I… I don't know. What did you guys see?" Naruto asked.
"Guys? Kit, there's only one of you now. Your dark self disappeared the same time you did. When you went into your mindscape, you didn't end up here. I felt that you were in your mind, but it wasn't in any place I knew of. That should be impossible since I know your mind inside and out from being stuck in here for years."
"… he's gone?" Naruto stood there, shocked at the new information.
"Kit, tell me what happened!" the Kyuubi roared.
Naruto's eyes suddenly flashed black and red just like it did in front of Sasuke. "Don't tell me what to do!" Dark tendrils as large as trees appeared out of nowhere and smashed into the Kyuubi. The Kyuubi roared in pain, which snapped Naruto out of his trance.
"Kyuubi!" he yelled out.
"I'm fine!" the fox snapped back. After taking some breaths, he looked at Naruto. "What happened?"
Naruto then told him his recollection of the event with Yami. After he was done, he almost had laughed at the fox's expression as his mouth hung open.
"So you absorbed a demon's power?" it finally asked.
Naruto nodded. "I think so."
"Can you still use your Intou jutsus?" the Kyuubi responded.
Naruto held his hand out, and the Kageken appeared. "I think absorbing her allowed me to access dark chakra without her help."
"I think it might have had some negative consequences however."
"Huh? What do you mean?" Naruto asked.
One of the Kyuubi's tails rubbed its sore back. "You would have never lashed out against me before this. But now, you did it so freely and without hesitation. I think your dark side is becoming more prominent."
Naruto's eyes widened. "Wait, then where is my dark self? Shouldn't he get the same issue as well?"
The Kyuubi shook its head. "I think your dark self returned to you. You needed him in order to have your dark self be closer to the surface so that you could use Intou jutsus, but now, you don't need him. He might have been destroyed, but I think he is back inside you."
Naruto pondered about all this. Besides all the issues on the outside world, all of his talks with Yami made him realize the type of person he was. "Oh! I just realized something. Kyuubi, do you have to hold your form as a fox, or could you shape shift? I know you're not a demon, but I was wondering if Bijuu's had the same power."
The Kyuubi grinned. "Well, most Bijuu's can't. However, I am a fox. Transformation is something all demonic foxes can do. And usually, they choose a human form whose gender fits their personality the best." The fox stepped back into the darkness, and when it stepped out, a girl with red hair stepped out. Her hair reached to the back of her legs while her crimson eyes and sharp teeth adorned her face. Her body was that of an 18 year old, so Naruto reacted in the same way he did with Yami. Kyuubi however wore a red jacket with a black shirt underneath; she wore blue shorts and black combat boots. And of course, her nine tails lazily swayed back and forth. (Author's Note: I know that canon Kyuubi is male, but I do like female Kyuubi. Sooooo, if you have a problem with that…. Fuck you. :D )
"Oi, kit, my eyes are up here." She deadpanned with a voice that was deeper than Yami's but still highly feminine.
Naruto laughed. "Sorry, sorry, I blame my dark self being in me again. I didn't expect you to look like a girl with your voice. It sounded male. Do you have a name that you went with while in human form?"
"Well, my real name as the Kyuubi will not be known to you until I see you as worthy. Until then, you can call me Kyuubi or Megami." She said, proud of her name.
Naruto snorted. "Goddess? Really? A high viewing of yourself, isn't it?"
She glared at him. "Oh? And what do you suggest?"
"Hmm," Naruto thought out loud, "What about Akumi?"
"Ha! A name that sounds like demon. No thanks. At least, mine is creative," the Kyuubi retorted.
"Yeah, right. As creative as Yami's name."
"Oi."
Naruto looked at her with a bit of confidence. "What could you even do to me that could surpass what Yami did to me? I mean, if you could get out of that cage of yours."
"KIT!" she shouted. But, it had no effect as Naruto laughed and disappeared. Her eye twitched in anger. "I swear, the next time you come back in here, I'm skinning you alive."
And, that's that! END!
