Jurassic Park: Muldoon's Menace
Chapter 3
(A/N: Hello, everyone! Sorry it's been such a long time but rest assured I have not abandoned this story! Also, I would really appreciate it if you could check out my Crossover: Pursuit Force: Jurassic World. It's based off Macx's work, which you should definitely check out, and I would really appreciate some comments on how I'm doing. Thank you and I hope you enjoy!)
Alan felt like sobbing with relief. It was a helicopter. A Rescue helicopter. Rescue. The word resounded in his mind bringing forth a tsunami of emotions. He took a deep breath and straightened his back, feeling the tension leech out of his body. He smiled at the sight of Ellie and the Kids climbing into the helicopter and practically crashing into their seats. The Kids dropped off to sleep almost as soon as their heads touched the headrests. It looked normal. And normal was exactly what Alan needed.
He was about to take a step forwards when the most horrifying sound reached his ears. The bark of a Velociraptor Mongoliensis. He felt the hairs on the back of his neck immediately stand erect. It's not real. It's all in your mind. Yet even as he registered the words that had formed in his mind he knew, somehow just knew, that it was real. That it wasn't in his mind. It was a Velociraptor. And it was close. Very close.
Grant took a tentative step forward. A branch snapped off to his left. He had to fight the instinctive reaction to look. And that's when the attack comes. Not from the front, but from the sides - from the other two raptors you didn't even know were there. His own words sounded in his ears, taunting him, teasing him mercilessly. Sometimes, it sucked to be right. There was the sound of rustling leaves behind him and suddenly Ellie was yelling at him. 'Alan! Behind you!'
He didn't need any encouragement. Running is an invitation for the chase. Running only makes the chase more enjoyable. He was completely aware of that fact but his hind-brain decided that the overwhelming sensation of terror was more important. Besides, if he was going to die after all of what he had just gone through then he wasn't going down without a fight. Or at least a chase. He would make them work if they wanted to feast on his internal organs, damn it!
He was charging towards the helicopter as fast as his legs could carry him. He could almost feel the hot breath against the back of neck, could almost hear it lunge for him...
And he suddenly had to stop as another Velociraptor leapt out from the foliage in front of him, coming to such an abrupt halt he slid on to his back. Before he could even react any further a set of powerful jaws clamped down on the back of his shirt and began to pull, dragging him along with it. He forced his head up to see the helicopter again but his view was blocked by the Raptor in front of him. He could hear the others calling out to him. Then it moved to the left and Alan was able to catch a fleeting glance. It was taking off.
Alan felt like sobbing with despair.
