Sydney POV

After leaving Adrian behind, I fled further into the city ignoring the rain. As I made my way to a park fountain images of my past flashed in my mind. My sister was the star of most of them but Adrian was there too. I laid on the fountains edge staring at the clouded night sky, while the images of my past came faster and faster. Soon tears joined the raindrops on my face.

"Sydney?" I heard someone call out. I sat up quickly.

"What!?" I snapped only to realize it was Ivan. " I.. I'm sorry." He didn't say anything, he just looked at me with sad eyes.

No" I said firmly. "You don't get to pity me, I don't deserve Adrian." Ivan continued to look at me.

"What?, I mean at least he fought for me. All I did was walk away, and..."

"Oh! shut up" Ivan said cutting me off, "I don't pity you, I'm disappointed in you. You, the smartest person I know, walks away from a good man who made a bad mistake. Then you make it worse by convincing that smart mind of yours that you shouldn't listen to your own heart. Sydney, you and Adrian are a match made in hell."

"Isn't it match made in Heav..."

"No" he snapped, "You know as well as I do that's a load of shit. Adrian is a free-spirited, crazy, party boy, You are a serious, stick- to- the- rules, non-party girl. You two are so imperfect for each other, yet you're drawn to each other, because he draws out the party in you, and you draw out the clam in him. So you know what Sydney, if you want to throw all that way on one stupid mistake, go ahead, but I'm not sticking around to see the ending." With that Ivan walked away, leaving me stunned. I've never thought about it like that. Oh god, I had to get Adrian back. I jumped up and ran from the park. It was only about two blocks from the cemetery. I prayed he was still there.

Dimitri POV

"Adrian, you can't do this" I shouted.

"Yah, Cowboy I can"

"but what about Sydney"

"What about her?" he yelled turning around. His green eyes were bloodshot. "She doesn't love me Dimitri. Now I'm leaving and I'd appreciate it if you'd just let me." Adrian turn back to packing.

"How can you suddenly just want to leave we're your family, Adrian" I demanded. Adrian's body fell to the ground as he let out a sob. Whatever I just said broke something inside of him. He was sitting up with his back against his bed, his knees were pulled up to his chest, and he had his face down. I sat down beside him.

"Adrian" I said softly "How can you just leave us?" He lifted his head slowly. There were silent tears streaming down his face.

"You think I want to leave" he said his voice full of emotion "I'm not doing this to hurt you, any of you, and I hate that it does, but I have to get out of here and away from the memories. When I say that I don't mean the part where Sydney broke my heart. It's the self-loathing I can't stand not her. She said she forgave me, and I'm hoping if I get away then I can start actually forgiving myself." I took a moment to ponder his words.

"Ok" I said jumping up. Adrian looked up at me confused,

"Ok?"

"Yah" I said sinking back to the floor, so I could be eye level with him.

"I don't like it, but if it's what you need to do then do it, but you have to promise me one thing."

"What?" he asked, as he wiped away the tears that stained his face. I stood back up leaving the room to find a pen and some paper. Coming back in the room I noticed he was standing.

"You have to go where I want you to go, so I know you're safe." Adrian nodded and I wrote down the address. I handed him the paper and his face grew shocked.

"This is in Russia"

Sydney POV

When I ran back to the cemetery, Adrian wasn't there. I went to his hotel room next, but he wasn't there either. Dimitri told me he left, I demanded to know where he went, but Dimitri kicked me out, and told me to just let Adrian go. I couldn't believe it Adrian fled to get away from me.

"Where have you been?!" Keith exclaimed. As I walked though the door of our apartment.

"I'm sorry I've been out" I said slumping down in a kitchen chair.

"So" he said sitting in a chair next to me "Are you going to tell me what was going on at the concert?" I sighed, I should've seen this coming.

"Noth..." I stared, but I stopped. I had to stop lying, I couldn't take it anymore.

"Keith" I started again, "You deserve the truth." He nodded in agreement with me.

"I...I'm in love with Adrian." Keith froze, I don't think that was what he was excepting.

"You... you love him and not me" he said trying to wrap his head around this. I nodded.

"So what we have was just a desperate attempt to get over your ex" His voice wasn't exactly angry, but it wasn't loving either.

"Keith I'm sorry" I said.

"No!" he exclaimed, "You get to say that. I just have one question."

"I'll answer anything" I told him.

"What are you going to do now" Keith asked no emotion in his voice. I took a moment, and suddenly an idea came to me.

"I'm going to Palm Springs."
