The three cubs run back down the hill in search of the hornbill. They didn't call out his name been as that would bring the hyenas back to them. Simba and Nala were in front of Kagome as they walked slowly looking for the bird.
"We are going to be in so much trouble" Kagome whispered as the walked. Nala looked back to her and tried to give her a reassuring smile.
"It'll be fine Kags, we'll get Zazuu and head home, ok?" she said and then looked to Simba so that he would help her out.
"Yeah Kags don't worry, mum and dad won't be that mad" he knew he was lying but he didn't want Kagome to start crying when they were trying as quite as they could. It was then they saw a cave hole that was glowing red from the underground water gazers. They walked closer to it and saw that it wasn't a cave after all but a ditch with high rock walls around it. However sitting in the middle of the ditch was they three Hyena's and Zazuu.
"-hippy hop all the way to the birdie boiler" Bansai said as he pushed Zazuu into it.
"Oh no not the birdie boiler-" but he never finished because the grazer went off sending Zazuu off with it. "AAAAHHHHH!" as Zazuu went flying off the three hyenas were laughing finding it so hilarious. Kagome started to back away, the three hadn't seen them and she was thinking with any luck they could sneak away with out being noticed. After all Zazuu was now free from them and no drought flying away to tell her father. But when Simba and Nala were around there was never going to be an easy way out.
"Hey!" Simba yelled down to them. All three turned his way with the look of surprise on their faces, they must have actually forgotten about them being too busy with Zazuu. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size" he continued bravely. Kagome shook her head.
'Your only just bigger then Zazuu' she thought to herself. Even Nala was giving Simba a look that said 'really, great wording' the Hyenas however just smiled/smirked.
"Like you?" Shenzi said with a smirk as all of them got up ready to pounce. It was then Simba realised his mistake and looked slightly worried at what he had done.
"Ops"
"Run!" Kagome yelled as the three cubs turned around and started to run away from the hyenas again up the hill, Kagome leading this time. But suddenly the three hyena were in front of them making them turn around again and Simba leading they waived in and out of the bones trying to gain as much speed as they could, the hyenas hot on their trail. Kagome noticed they were heading the wrong way; they were running further away from the pride lands and more into the hyenas territory. There was no way for them to make their way back in the right direction; they would just get cut off.
'Please Mr Zazuu find Dad, we really need him' she thought as she ran up an elephant skull away from Shenzi who was snapping at her black tipped tail. They ran as fast as they could and came to a steep hill of bones. Simba and Kagome climbed up the hill easily but half way up Nala's paw slipped and she started to slide down the hill.
"KAGOME! SIMBA!" the other two cubs turned their heads to see that she was sliding fast and that it was Nala's tail Shenzi was snapping at now. "Ah!" Nala yelled as she slid. Simba turned his head to Kagome quickly as she looked down to Nala terrified.
"Kagome, keep going, now!" he said and as he started to move down the slop to help Nala. Kagome was shocked out of her and she began to climb the hill again. She heard the Simba's claws hit Shenzi and the sound of him and Nala running to catch up with her. Once at the top of the hill the other two had caught up quickly and Simba was now leading her and Nala towards what looked like a cave.
'Why is he going towards there we'll be trapped' she didn't say anything because she had faith in her brother. They entered the cave looking feature and like she thought it was basically a trap. There was an old carcass towards the back that still had some of its skin on it. Nala and Simba climbed up to the top and tried to jump up towards a gap in the top of the wall. Kagome could tell there was no way to get to the gap and so she looked around to find a place hide. She found a gap in the rock wall big enough for her. She ran there and as she backed into the gap Simba and Nala fell though the skin into the bottom with a load thud. Slowly the three hyenas walked in growling. From where she was hiding Kagome could see three red lines on her face, most likely from where Simba hit her with his claws.
"Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty" Bansai said in a scarily menacing tone. As the three walked closer, Simba Moved slightly in front of Nala and bared his sharp white teeth. And then he started to roar. At the sound that came out Kagome felt bad for him as the noise that he made as it was so quite and weak. She felt bad when the hyenas laughed at him because of it. She could see on Nala's face that she too felt as bad as she did.
"Ha, that was it" Shenzi aid as she looked to the other two. All three hyenas crept closure to him and Nala in the ribs of the elephant's caucus. "Do it again" she said mockingly. And Simba raised his head because his pride of being the prince lion bruised by the fact that he had not yet mastered the art of his roar. He closed his eyes and took a large breath. Kagome closed her eyes and looked away; waiting for the same result as before, but what came made her eyes open wide but shut tight again.
Instead of it being Simba's roar, it was their father's. When she had opened them wanting to run to him, she saw that Mufasa was swiping at the three, by the look on his face he was furious and she could tell it wasn't just at the hyenas. She could hear the three were begging Mufasa to spare them.
"Silence!" he roared but they were still muttering, begging for their lives, so Mufasa growled at them and effectively shutting them up. Mufasa looked them dead in the eyes "if you ever come near these cubs, MY cubs again…" but he left the threat in the air, it was more intimidating to do that and more gracious, expected of a lion of his status.
"Oh these, these are your cubs" Shenzi tried pathetically, she looked to Bansai. "Did you know that?"
"No did you?" he lie.
"No, of course not" they looked at each other and then to Ed.
"Ed?" they asked together. Ed's only reply was dumbly nodding his head, which made Mufasa growl one final time. "Toodles" Bansai said as the three ran away from Mufasa and out the cave, Yelping as they went. Kagome stayed were she was, afraid that if she came out he would roar at her. He was going to be mad at her. He was going to blame it all on her. Tell her that all this was her fault, just like Uncle Scar had said he would. Simba moved towards Mufasa as he looked from him to Nala then back again. He looked round the rest of the cave in search.
"Dad I-" Simba tried to start to explain.
"You deliberately disobeyed me" Mufasa cut him off before he can say anything else. Simba felt guilty and so really wanted to try and explain it to him.
"I was only trying-" tried to explain again but with a different starting, thinking it would make a difference. "Where is your sister" Mufasa cut in again. "Your mother said she came with you and Nala, Nala's here so where is Kagome" he demanded. Simba's expression become one of shock and him too began to look around for a glimpse of white fur, I knew she entered the cave with them but with everything that was going on he hadn't keep track of her.
"I-" Simba started.
"I'm here" Kagome said as she moved out from her hold in the wall. Mufasa gave them both a hard look before turning towards the entrance of the cave. Zazu flew and landed next to him but Mufasa also gave him a hard look.
"Let's go home" He said sternly, leaving no room for argument on the topic and headed out the cave with Kagome following close at his heels. Simba and Nala followed a while back from her, all three cubs had the head down the only time one of their was was up was when Nala turned his head toward Simba and said.
"I thought you were very brave"
