Here is your next chapter.
Enjoy.
"Ohi'mbube, Ohi'mbube" Pumbaa sings as he and Timon walk along the worn path in the jungle. Simba was relaxing by the oasis that morning. Since the talk under the stars Timon and Pumbaa had noticed that the lion had kept to himself a bit more than usual.
Pumbaa had come up with the theory that something that was said reminded the sub-adult lion of his past and reminded Timon that when they had first met him as an almost four moon old cub he had asked them could they change the past.
Timon being the meerkat he was just dismissed Pumbaa theory and said that the lion was just dealing with something liony and it was all part of him at his age and that they should just leave him to deal with himself.
Pumbaa, though not really liking the idea of leaving his friend in the mood that he was had agreed to leave the lion be and had just decided to be there if his friend needed him. This seemed to please all three of the trio and so this is what had led to Pumbaa and Timon looking food and Simba by himself.
"In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight" Timon sings as Pumbaa does the backing sounds. "In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps…" he continued to sing. Pumbaa had become distracted and moved away to follow a blue beetle bug of the path.
"I can't hear you, buddy, back me up!" Timon yells back to his already gone friend with his eyes closed as he got in the mind set of singing to his imaginary audience. "A-WEEEE-ee-EE-ee ba-Pum-ba-bum-ba-way" Timon continued to sing but after not hearing Pumbaa's voice turned to look back at his friend. "A-Pumbaa? Pumbaa?" Timon called out realising that he wasn't anywhere behind him.
Pumbaa had wondered right off the path in following the blue bug as he continued to hum the bass theme of the song he and Timon had been singing. Now getting more into treating the bug as prey Pumbaa tries to stalk the bug keeping low to the ground like Simba had shown him and Timon.
When he tries to jump low to get over a fallen log he gets stuck momentarily over it. While he tried to free himself by wiggling himself off he could have sworn that he had heard something behind him and so he looks back for the creature watching.
"Timon?" he called out into the open jungle, but got no reply. After waiting a moment to make sure it wasn't his friend he shrugs and finally get off the log. He follows the bug for another few moments before the bug rest on top of another log and Pumbaa get ready to pounce.
However when he looks at the bug he almost misses the pair of green eyes that are staring right back at him from their position in the long grass. The colour of the grass almost matching the colour of their fur. Pumbaa has to take another look before he realised that the eyes are from a lioness getting ready to pounce.
"YEEEEAAAHHH!" he yells before turning and sprinting further into the undergrowth of the jungle. As he runs the lioness get closer in her hot pursuit. The lioness, with teeth and claws bared, chases Pumbaa keeping very good track of him as she chases him around at high speed.
"Pumbaa?" Timon calls out to his friend hearing his scream of fear that echoed through the jungle. "Pumbaa! Pumbaa!" he calls again as he starts to run towards the sound of the chase. In the time it takes for him to find Pumbaa, Pumbaa had got stuck under the root of a tree by trying to squeeze through it.
"Hey, what's going on?" Timon asks his panicked friend.
"SHE'S GONNA EAT ME!"
"Huh?" Timon asked puzzled as he looked over the top of Pumbaa's head to see the lioness coming right for his friend. "Woah! ... Jeez!" he yells as he. He gets down and tries to help push Pumbaa out from under the root.
"Why do I always have to save your AAAAAA!" Timon screams, he sees the lioness was about to close on Pumbaa and he is in the line of attack. At the last minute, Simba jumps over Pumbaa and catches the lioness head on at full force, fighting savagely.
"Don't worry, buddy, I'm here for ya" Timon says to Pumbaa comfortingly once he sees that Simba has the lioness under control. "Everything's gonna be okay" he says as he pats Pumbaa. "Get her!" Timon yells at Simba encouragingly.
"Bite her head! Go for the jugular, the jugular!" he yells as if he was a sports coach instructing his team from the side-lines. "See, I told you he'd come in handy" he muttered to Pumbaa before focusing back on the fight as the lions tangle for a few more moments.
So enough the savage fighting turns to the wrestling along the ground until the lioness flips Simba and pins him to the ground with a loud thump. The move startles Simba as the lioness is still baring her teeth down at him.
It was this moment that reminded him of another place, another time. Where too much younger boisterous lion cubs had wrestled in the sand of the desert as they were watched by another lion cub, a sweet, timid cub. At this memory only one word left his mouth.
"Nala?" the word so sudden that it even shocked the lioness herself. She immediately backs off of Simba and looks at him, really looked at him, almost like examining him. "Is it really you?" he said shocked as he got up.
"Who are you?" Nala asked confused, did she know this strange lion?
"It's me" Simba said confidently with a smile. "Simba" he said smiling.
"Simba?" Nala said taking another look at the lion before her. The second time it only took moment for realisation to hit her full force. "Whoah!" she exclaimed and both lions rushed forwards towards each other. From there the words clashed trying to find things out.
"Hey, what's going on here?" Timon said as he slide off Pumbaa and walked towards the pair completely baffled by this sudden change between the two and only stopped when he was in the middle of them. The two lions were oblivious to him so he raised his voice. "HEY! WHAT'S GOIN' ON HERE!?"
"Timon, this is Nala" Simba introduced with a wide grin. "She's my best friend" he said happily.
"Friend?!" was Timon's thoroughly confused response.
"Yeah" Simba said out of breath, he had after all done a lot in the last few moments that would take his breath away. "Hey, Pumbaa, come over here" Simba called out to his not so stuck friend under the log at the same time that the warthog got free from his trapped position. "Nala, this is Pumbaa" Simba introduced. "Pumbaa, Nala" he reversed.
"Pleased to make your acquaintance" Pumbaa said politely
"The pleasure's all mine" Nala responded just as politely.
"Whoa! Whoa, Time out" Timon yells. "Lemme get this straight" he states before pointing to Simba. "You know her;" said as he then points to Nala. "She knows you, but she wants to eat him" he narrates pointing the respected people at the respected time. "And everybody's... okay with this? DID I MISS SOMETHING?!" he yells frustrated by his confusion.
"Relax, Timon" Simba says trying to calm his tiny friend down.
"Wait till everybody finds out you've been here all this time!" Nala says happily. "And your mother... what will she think?" she says suddenly.
"Mother? What about Kagome?" Simba asks without thinking. "Never mind it doesn't matter, she doesn't have to know, nobody has to know" Simba says defensively.
"Well, of course they do, everyone thinks you're dead" Nala said excitedly not really catching the first part of Simba's statement about his dead sister.
"They do?" Simba asked surprised.
"Yeah" Nala said, her eyes now turned sad. "Scar told us about the stampede" she explained.
"He did?" Simba said timidly. "What else did he tell you?" he asked nervously.
"What else matters?" Nala said off handily, "You're alive and that means... you're the king".
"King? Pbbb. Lady, have you got your lions crossed" Timon said laughing at the thought.
"King?" Pumbaa whispers. "You're Majesty! I gravel at your feet" he says as kisses Simba's paws.
"Stop it" Simba says as he pulls his paw away.
"It's not "gravel," It's "grovel; and DON'T- he's not the king" Timon says to Pumbaa. "Are ya?" Timon asks Simba for clarification.
"No" Simba denied.
"Simba!?" Nala exclaimed, shocked by her friend denying the truth.
"No, I'm not the king" Simba denies again. "Maybe I was gonna be, but... that was a long time ago" he explains.
"Let me get this straight" Timon asks seriously. "You're the king? And you never told us?" he asks.
"Look, I'm still the same guy" Simba defends again.
"But with power!" Timon says enthusiastically as he hold his fist up to back up the point.
"Could you guys... excuse us for a few minutes?" Nala requests apologetically.
"Hey, whatever she has to say, she can say in front of us" Timon says indicating to himself and Pumbaa. "Right, Simba?" the meerkat says waiting for his friend to back him up.
"Hmm, maybe you'd better go" Simba says, trying to deal with one part of his life at a time.
"It starts, you think you know a guy" Timon says as he and Pumbaa walk off with Pumbaa sighing.
"Timon and Pumbaa; you learn to love them" Simba says with an awkward smile but Nala has her head bowed down sadly. "What? ...What is it?" he asks concerned.
"It's like you're back from the dead" Nala says quietly. "You don't know how much this will mean to everyone" Nala says as she raised her head to look him in the eyes "...What it means to me" she says with pained expression.
"Hey, it's okay" Simba states with a smile.
"I've really missed you" she says as she starts rubbing under Simba's chin, purring.
"I've missed you too Simba says back as they are rubbing against each other's heads.
