Shikamaru watched Asao and Leiko run around the back yard. While the rest of the dogs had gone off on their own Leiko had taken it upon himself to keep the young boy occupied, something Shikamaru was grateful for since he had a ton of reports he had to get done, and Sakura hadn't been well for the last several days. Continuing to fill out his reports he got several more done before Asao found his way over and effectively jumped on to Shikamaru's back. Grinning at the boy, he was quick to flip him over and into his lap. Moving quickly he began tickling the boy, laughter ringing throughout the house. Smiling he stopped when the boy cried uncle and watched as the boy moved ran away Leiko fast on his heels.
From the corner of his eye he watched a flash of pink hair disappear out of the doorway. Making sure that Leiko had Asao well in paw; he got to his feet and followed his wife through their house, into their room, and stopped at the closed bathroom door. Knocking twice he heard a small yelp and he opened the door to find Sakura blocking his way in.
A moment later she was out of the bathroom, the door firmly closed behind her, while blocking any and all entrance. He raised an eyebrow in question and she gave a small smile as an answer; but the smile didn't reach her eyes, and she was still a little green. Bringing his forehead to hers he felt for a temperature, and finding none put his fingers to her neck to feel her pulse. He watched as she scowled but noted that she didn't push his hand away. Her pulse was a bit rapid, it was nothing to be worried about, but something was definitely going on, and it was in the bathroom.
Reaching around his wife he grasped the door knob only to find his wife kissing him a second later. Embracing her, he kissed her back, noting how she was slowly moving him away from the bathroom and out of the bedroom. He'd find out what she was hiding in a bit, but for a few moments he'd like to love on his wife. Once in the hallway, he pushed her up against the wall, and moved from her mouth to her neck and smiled at the small pleasured sigh that slipped from her lips. He was about to return to her mouth when he heard "Uncle Shika, what are you doing to aunt Sakura?"
He felt Sakura freeze beneath him, and slowly pulled away, not completely letting go of his wife to face his sensei's son "I was examining a bruise on her neck." And for evidence he pointed to the small mark forming on his wife's neck "She got it on a super special mission, and I wanted to make sure she was okay." Leiko huffed in disbelief behind the boy, and from the corner of his eye he watched Sakura scowl. "Why don't you head back outside and we'll call you in a little bit once lunch is ready."
Asao nodded and headed down the hall with Leiko following close behind. Turning back to his wife he grinned, despite the pout now on her lips, and the light blush on her cheeks. Pecking her on the lips one more time he allowed her to pull away and walk towards the kitchen to get lunch ready. As she walked away he heard her mutter "We're really going to have to watch that from now on."
Eyebrow knitting together in confusion, Shikamaru turned back to their bedroom and walking through the room he entered the bathroom right as a timer went off. Still a bit puzzled he walked farther into the bathroom and stopped at the sink where a little stick laid on top of a box. His heart stopped at the words on the box the letters spelling "pregnancy test" being the only thing he could focus on. Picking up the stick he turned it over and stared at the one little word he was sure would forever change both his and Sakura's lives forever. PREGNANT. Sakura was pregnant, suddenly the random sickness and the constant tiredness made since.
Smiling ear to ear he walked out of the bathroom, the pregnancy test still in hand, and towards the kitchen. He watched his wife, the mother of his child, flit around the kitchen fixing lunch. For a moment he just watched her until she suddenly seemed to freeze and turn towards him. Her eyes went from his face to the test in his hand, and a panicked look came over her face. That was when he realized that she didn't know yet. That stupid smile still on his face he rushed forward, took her in his arms and kissed her as if there were no tomorrow.
Pulling back she looked at him in wonder and asked "Was it positive?"
He nodded and watched as she squealed and then kissed him back. "Thank god, I didn't want to tell you until I was sure. We've been trying for six months and I didn't want to get your hopes up without knowing."
He kissed her again and said "My hopes are all the way in the sky." Kissing her again he pulled back and whispered "Now it's our turn to pass on the Will of Fire." She just kissed him again.
Sorry it's been so long since the last update, but here it is. I really like this chapter, I think it's cute. I love the idea of Shikamaru as a dad, I think he'd be an awesome dad, and would be super excited to become one. I hope you enjoyed it, let me know what you think in a review.
