Sorry it took so long! Here is chapter 5 and then ill have chapter 6 and 7 out tonight! I also will probably be starting up another story as well that I have had brewing up in my mind for a few weeks now!
Work flew by quickly. Buck sent me home earlier and had me on light duty after I had gotten jumped.
"Rose, head on home will ya? I don't need to have to call darry saying I let his kid sister get a broken rib instead of just a bruised one." Buck laughed a bit, trying to cheer me up. I smiled.
"Thanks Buck, I'll see you next week?" I asked. He nodded and went back to finish the rest of the duties I had. I took my time getting home, since the sun was shining and it was fairly warm. I made it home safely, and walked in to find all the boys home, except Darry, who I assumed was working late. I sighed and heard someone gasp.
"Rose, your face!" Steve said. I looked at him and felt hot tears well up in my eyes.
"Yeah, I know. It's pretty fucking bad…I get it. You don't have to remind me." I mumbled, heading off towards my room to get new clothes for my shower.
After I got out of the shower, I was able to get a better look at my face. No wonder Steve was shocked. I had a black eye on the right and a bruise on my left cheek. I sighed and debated on covering it up. But like my scar, it was next to impossible to hide it. I sighed and got dressed into just a plain black tank top, my light blue plaid shirt and a pair of dark skinny jeans. I would decide on my converse later.
I walked out and Two-Bit smiled over at me but the smile faded when he saw my face. I smiled slightly at him and walked passed to sit on Darry's chair.
"Rose..your..your.." Two-Bit couldn't even began to talk.
"Yes two. My face. After you headed home the other night, I got jumped. No big deal." I said, you could feel the tension after I spoke. I didn't know what else to say to him. He knew better than to let any of us, even himself, walk alone. Any one of us could be the next target. Typically, Pony and Johnny were targets. Every now and then I became one.
Two-Bit stared at the floor, before thinking carefully and looking back my way.
"Rose, can we talk out back..?" Two-Bit asked. I nodded and followed him out the back door. We sat in silence, but I couldn't help but smile at the many fun times we all had playing football and growing up here together. I also noticed a little mud pile formed out near the corner of the yard. I couldn't help but recall back when Soda and I were only five and Pony was about one.
**Flashback**
"Soda, mumma is gonna be wery upset." Five year old me spoke as my twin brother led me to his new found discovery. I of course was wearing a new floral dress that mom had just made off the sewing machine. Soda smiled and looked up at me.
"But Rosey, the dirt and mud is so fun, come on, you know it is." He said. Back then he still had that crazy and perfect smile he does today. I giggled and sat down and with that we played in the mud. Splashing it everywhere and getting it all through each other's hair. Momma always said when we got old enough, having twins was a nightmare.
"ROSEMARY CURTIS AND SODAPOP CURTIS WHAT DO YOU TWO THINK YOU'RE DOING!?" Mom screamed from the porch. Pony must've been taking his nap.
We both tried to blame one another, but of course once we were bathed and changed, we were thrown in time out.
***End of Flashback***
Ah, the memories.
"So, Rose. I'm awful sorry about what they did to you. I never meant to let you get hurt…honest. But, I'd really like to maybe get back to how our friendship once was…and maybe even rekindle what we once had." Two-Bit said, but he mumbled the last part so quietly I could've easily misheard him. I sighed and looked into his eyes.
"Okay Two. I guess we can give it a try." I said. He grinned as widely as I had ever seen. We continued to sit in silence as the sun began to set.
