As the weeks went on and winter was coming our way, things began getting back to normal. I was working at Buck's still, and winter break was coming up for Ponyboy and Johnny. Work at Bucks would become slow, as only about two horses would be there and only feedings and the occasional run around the ring at least twice a day would happen.

It was Friday, as I looked at the clock I grinned knowing only in a few more hours it would be time for Two-Bit and I to go on our first date since I got back. I finished up the last meal for the horses and threw some hay in the stalls for them. I let Buck know I was done for the day and got a move on home. The weather was becoming chilly which meant it was time to break out my fleece lined plaids. If you're wondering, yes, I do in fact have a leather jacket. Which I wear often. Just preferably not in the summer.

I began getting ready for our date once I walked through the door. I headed right for the bathroom to shower and threw my work clothes into our dirty laundry basket. I scurried as fast as I could down the hall to my room to get ready. I got on a nice pair of dark wash jeans, a red "off the shoulder" sweater, my pink converse, and I slipped on my dark blue fleece plaid along with my leather jacket. I did my hair in a basic messy bun and pink bandana. I debated on makeup, now that my black eye and bruise was gone, it would be easier. I lightly did my eyeliner and mascara, I did a tan eye shadow for the natural look, and I put on some soft pink lip stick. I looked myself over and decided to sit on the front porch and wait. I stopped in front of my oldest brother and coughed. Darry looked up and smiled.

"Wow Rose, you look just like mom with your makeup like that." He said, I grinned. I always thought mom was so beautiful.

"Thanks Darbear. I was hoping I would look beautiful tonight. It's our first date since I've been back. I'm super nervous and want it to go well!" I said. I was slightly shaking. Darry laughed.

"Gosh, I remember your first time meeting Two-Bit, you two could barely stand each other." Darry said laughing. Two and I met when we were in kindergarten and 1st grade. I laughed with Darry recalling how our first meeting went down.

***Flashback***

Our classes always paired grades, 1st grade & kindergarten were together. Which meant, almost all the boys and I were together, except Ponyboy and Darry.

"Class today we are going to color." My teacher announced. To each table she handed out tins with crayons if we didn't have our own and the pictures to color.

Soda and I had our own crayons. Two-bit did not.

"Hey Soda, whos that?" Two-Bit asked him when I sat at there table, leaving the girly table behind.

"That's my sister, Rosemary. Rose, this is Keith." Soda said introducing us. Two-Bit had yet to earn his nickname.

"Hi Keith." I said grinning. I blushed when he smiled at me.

"You have a nice smile Rose." He said. I blushed more. Sure, boys have cooties to most girls, but I lived and hung out with all boys. Cooties was just bizzare to me.

"Hey, Keith give it back!" I shouted as Two-Bit took my pink crayon. He was laughing and holding it above my head. I tackled him. We began tugging at the crayon only for it to break, for me to cry and for us to both get time out by the teacher.

"I hate you Keith Matthews." I mumbled to him.

"I hate you too, Rose Curtis." He said back.

****End of Flashback****

I smirked remembering that day. It was funny now, but boy did we ever have it our for one another the first few years we knew each other. Whether he threw mud in my hair, or I put a worm down his shirt. Suddenly, I was broken from my thoughts when I heard a car pull up. I peaked out the window, It was Two-Bit.

"Well hello Keith Matthews." I said smiling.

"Well Hello Rosemary Curtis, you look lovely this evening." He said. I blushed a bit and looked him over. He was wearing his leather jacket, a nice pair of jeans and a tight blue shirt.

"You don't look to bad yourself, Matthews." I said smiling. He grabbed my hand and led me to the car. He opened the door up for me and I climbed in.

"Sorry I took so long. My momma was asking me all kinds of questions about how long you had been home and why I didn't bring you by." Two-Bit said. I laughed. I always loved his mother. She was such a sweet lady. Never seemed to have a trouble in the world.

"Well, it's alright. Darry and I were talking about the first time you and I ever met. How we could barely stand to look at each other.

"Well, I remember our first date. Gosh darn, I thought you were gonna die of shock when I asked you to go to dinner with me." Two-Bit laughed. I remember that, I had the biggest crush on Two-Bit that even if we were going to play football I took forever to get ready. I did all the things I could to impress him.

"Yeah well, you never expect your best friend to ask you on a date." I said smiling at him. We continued talking and laughing when he pulled up to a hill.

"Two…where are we? I thought you said we were gonna go to the dingo?" I said. He smirked.

"Well, I wanted to do something, different, something special." He said. He got out and opened the door for me, along with grabbing all the picnic items from the backseat. We found our way up at the top of the hill and laid out the blanket. As we set up, I noticed the sky was a pretty purple.

"Wow Two-Bit, its so pretty." I said smiling as we ate our sandwiches that he had made.

"Ain't it? I asked Ponyboy what he thought of taking you here to watch the sunset, he said it was a good plan. I figured you'd enjoy it." He said looking off into the sky then back to me. I smiled at him. Two-Bit was always such a romantic, but this was different. I knew he wanted nothing more than for us to be back together officially just like I did. But we both knew that would come in due time.
"Two-Bit, do you think when we're back together, it will work? I mean last time everyone was out to get us, aside from the gang." I said, I was afraid, I trusted Two, but I didn't trust the ones who had started those rumors.

"I know it will. Rose, you dig alright. I care about you a lot and would never want to let anything ruin what we have ever again. It wasn't worth it last time. There was no reason for us to have acted how we did." He said. We looked at one another. We sat closer and began watching the sunset. He put his arm behind my back and intertwined his fingers with mine. I leaned my head on his shoulders and just admired how beautiful this sunset was. Especially for the chilly weather.

Once the sunset, we packed up and got into the car. I slid in the seat right next to Two-Bit. He looked slightly surprised but once the car started he wrapped his arm around my shoulders. I smiled and looked at him. I studied his face, he was so handsome. His beautiful eyes shined when the light of the moon hit them just right, and his smile was something that could make my heart stop. I adored this man. He made me the happiest girl in the world. Even if we agreed to take this dating thing slowly, I was content with that.
He walked me up to the door when we got home.

"Did you wanna come in for cake? I think Darry made some." I said smiling. He smirked and nodded and followed me inside. We ate our cake and watched some movie that was on the TV. Shortly after I began to feel tired.

"Goodnight Rose, I love you baby." I heard Two-Bit say as he laid me down somewhere.

"Goodnight Keith, I love you too." I mumbled and next thing I knew I was waking up to the sun shining through my bedroom window.
