Part 23: Diversity
Hours passes by before Hiroki finally emerges out of that office room. He did not write a single word about his column and neither did he think about what to write for a column. He looks at Nowaki with confusion in his eyes. Even reading his own entries makes him question more than he could ever ponder in his mind span. Nowaki notices his love with his the long brunette mane looking wild and untamed. He laughs softly as he continues reading his medical journals. Hiroki rolls towards him seeing what sort of subject this tall giant was gazing his eyes upon on.
"What you reading there kid?"
"Medical journals" Nowaki replies noticing the forming scrunch on Hiroki's face.
"Now I know what you read in your free time." Hiroki tucks his hair behind his ears as he grabs an apple in front of him from a bowl. Nowaki closes his study book watching closely as Hiroki takes a huge bite out of the reddish yellow apple. The tall man reminisces how different they are. He laughs quietly at his evoking memories from the small fights over simple things such as movies or music. Hiroki hears the tall man's laughter and struck upon another question.
"What's so funny you Giant freak."
"Just thinking about how different we are yet we manage to live under the same roof Hiro-san."
"Well yes of course we are different. You're a doctor and I'm ... a cripple dude in a wheel chair." Nowaki eye's waters from the words coming out of his love one's mouth. He was 4 years younger than him and he try with all his might to catch up to his level of intelligence along with being equal to him. Never in his life does he want to surpass him in a cruel way such as this.
"That is not true, you are an amazing teacher especially since you tutor me in one of the harder subjects you dislike so much."
"Such as?"
"Chemistry. It is actually a subject I enjoy learning from you the most when I was preparing my equivalence exam."
Hiroki groans from evoking the awful subject he dislike so much along with the homework he has to do every night. He could not believe how he tutor this man over every subject.
"Okay but now I cannot work with a school, let alone instruct in a college course." The shorter man grimace.
"How is that column going for you Hiro-san" Nowaki ask trying to change the subject.
"I didn't start, I couldn't think of anything to write about for a column. It's rather hard to think of something that everyone can relate to or rave about no matter how diverse people's interest are."
Nowaki looks up to the ceiling watching the fan spin in an endless cycle. He remembers reading columns on Sunday newspaper which were mostly about the economy and how it affects the citizens. An obvious idea sparks in his head.
"Hiro-san, have you ever read a column from the Newspaper that you remember of or read in the hospital?" Nowaki questions the man's memory.
"No, not really. I mostly read the college newspaper I went to since I was in charge of editing the final draft. I should probably study newspaper writings again."
"Well, I read my fair share of columns, even the ones that does not relate to me in any fashion such as the stock market. I'm a doctor so obviously managing money isn't my cup of tea since I am no expert in it but they always manage a way to incorporate an everyday person with a simple question to stick in their mind."
"What do you mean? Explain further on into detail Nowaki" The humble giant smiles as he continues on to his advice. "For example the writer talks about the growing debt some huge foreign countries is facing. While it does not concern me since I am not living in those countries, the write gives you something to think about that everyone can relate to in some way which is debt. I face my share in student loans I have to pay off quickly as I can. You yourself had a scholarship but you didn't rely on your parents for money. So in some way to a degree you had to manage your money in order to avoid debt."
"So what you are saying is that as long as I have an overall emotional message for the readers, I can write whatever my heart desires. Sounds like a generic formula but it can work as I figure out what to write." Hiroki thanks the man and finishes his apple. He then proceeds to apologize with his cheeks blistering in hot red bright colour.
"Hey, about last night. I didn't mean to do that to you. I know you have feelings for me so…yeah. Sorry for doing that to you." He looks down in embarrassment having his long brunet auburn locks coving his searing cheeks. Nowaki runs his warm fingers through the auburn long hair smiling.
"We didn't do anything. You fell asleep on me."
Hiroki sighs in relief as he took a moment to comprehend on what Nowaki just told him. The doctor uncover his face from the long hair whispering to him in his soft low voice.
"You're so cute Hiro-san." Hiroki pushes him away from hearing those frightful words coming out of a grown man's mouth. He was unused to hearing complements from anyone. Nowaki just looks at him with a smile beaming bright as ever.
