"Here," she hands me a water bottle. "We need to stay hydrated or we might cramp up," she winks and takes off with a small backpack strapped to her shoulders and a blanket sticking out. Damn! That girl thinks of everything!
I wait for a second before I catch up cuz I really want to watch her ass bounce in those shorts! Oh and it's bouncing so nicely!
When I do reach her, we don't say much though because my conversations with Angel and Marcus cloud my brain. And I can tell Maya has some serious thoughts clouding her brain too.
We need to be so cautious otherwise Angel and her whole family will lose everything…
And I might lose what I really want—Maya…
Chapter 15: Choosing or losing
Emily POV
Thank god the pier is in sight. I'm beginning to feel winded. I had no idea Maya had so much stamina, oh wait, maybe I did! I smile to myself feeling invigorated all of a sudden so I decide to go from a jog to a run, breezing by an unsuspecting Maya.
"Hey! Slow down!" she calls ahead to me.
I look over my shoulder and yell back, "How 'bout you make me!"
The pier is getting closer and closer, it's within an arm's length when I'm tackled from behind. I stumble forward but she somehow keeps me on my feet.
We're both panting.
She tosses her bag on a nearby rock with her socks and sneakers. She wants me to lose my socks and sneakers too.
She grabs my hands dragging me into the ocean!
"Maya! Our clothes!"
"So, they'll dry."
As she trudges deeper into the water, she ties her hair up high in a messy bun. I guess she doesn't want to get her hair wet. So I grab my hair tie and do the same.
"What are we doing?"
"Doesn't it feel amazing?"
"Refreshing."
She swims over to me. She's close. We're both treading water.
"I'm going to fuck you right here."
"What! There're people!"
"They can't see what I'm doing to you. It looks like we're—playing."
"It looks like we're fucking."
She's quick, grabbing my waist, forcing her hand between my legs. But, I guess, it's not really forcing if I'm letting her touch me there. She treads water with one hand while the other rubs over my shorts, pressing the fabric between my lips causing major camel toe!
"Uh, uh," I moan as her eyes focus on mine. They're telling her what to do next, to stop or to keep going.
I like this. I like how it feels but then I start thinking about Angel and the will and I need her to stop but I can't find the words because I don't want her to stop.
"Maya, we can't."
"It's too late Emily. I'm gonna make you cum right now."
"That's not fair."
"Well, then you should've thought of it first."
And that makes me laugh and flinch a little as her fingers slip through the leg of my shorts. Her fingertips flutter my wet, silky lips, but fluttering, only to open me so she can slam her fingers into me.
"Baby, just concentrate on me, and splash the water like we're messing around, you know—playing.," she winks.
"You've done this before?"
"Maybe, but this time it's so much more."
She sinks her mouth to just above the water so I follow.
"Scream into the water if you feel like you're going to get carried away."
She's fucking me as hard as she can from that angle. I can feel myself brewing an orgasm. I'm gonna cum and it's gonna be loud!
My mouth shrieks underwater as I feel the back of my head getting wet. She holds her fingers against my clit as I kick and screech out a jubilous orgasm!
"I want to do that to you all the time," she says removing her hand from between my legs, wrapping her arms around my neck.
"And I want you to do that to me all the time but things are different now," I remove her arms as reality sets in.
"Things? Different?"
"Maya we have to talk."
"Like grownups?" she laughs.
I give her a serious look and swim back to shore. She swims after me hooking my arm with her hand spinning me around in the wet sand.
"What's going on?"
"Let's dry off somewhere and I'll tell you."
She grabs her bag and we carry our sneakers as we walk under the pier and away from it.
"You don't think Marcus had us followed do you?" I ask.
"Followed? Why?"
"That's what I need to talk to you about."
"Emily," she says stopping for a moment to ask, "what's going on?"
"Last night, when I got home, Lily was waiting up for me."
"Why?"
"She wanted to make sure I was aware of your father's will."
"My father's will?"
"Yeah, there's a huge stipulation in there and you're not going to like it."
She grabs both my arms and forces me to look at her, "What Emily? Tell me what's going on."
"There's a clause," she releases me so I can finish explaining.
"What clause?"
"In order for you and Will and Lily and Angel to inherit the Edgemont and all of its profits—"
"Go on."
"Angel and I have to be married for ten years."
"Ten years? What? That's just crazy."
"It is crazy but it's true. And I don't want anyone overhearing us, so, maybe we should go talk somewhere a little more private."
"Yeah, maybe we should."
The pier is no longer in sight. It's just me, Maya, the beach and the ocean.
"Where are you taking me?"
"Someplace not many people know about."
"Maya."
"I thought you were trusting me."
I smile, "I am."
She laces her fingers with mine and we continue down the beach like the lovers we've become. I rest my head on her shoulder securing my other hand around her arm.
"This, Maya, is me trusting you."
I'm trusting you into a world I've never known. It's been a long road getting here but, god, it's been worth it when I feel your body near.
She kisses the top of my head and we walk to a place she says will keep us safe…
Alison POV
"Thank you for everything you've done for me Angel. I can't thank you enough."
I can't help scanning her body as I can see that Maya came from an incredible gene pool. Her olive skin and toned features are exquisite. Some people might say she's a beautiful woman for someone in her forties but I think she's a beautiful woman period. And those green eyes are mesmerizing as are those lips that would make anyone purr.
"Alison, is there anything else on your mind? I'm asking because I feel like you want to tell me something."
"You got me Angel. You're right; there is something else on my mind."
Your body.
"You've been confiding in me lately so I'm here if you want to talk," she puts her hand over mine which is holding onto the railing of the balcony.
"This is quite a spread you've got here, a hotel, spa, ballroom and that huge fundraising event you had."
"It was a lot of work but Maya and Emily pulled it off."
"Maya and Emily?"
"Yes, they worked long hours together," she looks down at her hand still clutching mine and casually pulls it away.
"I see."
"You see what," she turns her body to possibly intimidate me into answering.
I turn to her and I'm swept away for a moment by a woman in charge, it's so hot and sexy, I'm finding it difficult to catch my breath.
"Alison, are you okay?"
"Sorry, I've been really anxious lately as you can imagine."
"Why don't you lie down in mine and Emily's room?"
"You don't mind?"
"No, we'll talk later. Just rest now."
She escorts me to their bedroom. When I lie down, she takes the blanket that's at the end of the bed and covers me with it.
She brushes the hair from my eyes and says, "I'll check on you later."
"Thank you Angel."
She then cups the side of my face with one hand and says, "I'm happy to do it."
I close my eyes and wonder if that's what it feels like to have a loving parent take care of you but then I realize those aren't the feelings I'm feeling. What I just felt is how a lover would take care of a lover…
Angel POV
Everything at the hotel seems to be in order until Marcus enters the lobby.
"Angel, how is everything with you and your family?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Just making conversation."
"Marcus," I address him as we walk together towards my office, "What's your deal?"
"What do you mean?"
He opens the door for me and I walk up to my desk, turn around, and lean against it. He takes a seat in one of the chairs facing me and crosses his legs in his tailor made suit.
"You got me out of this deal with Max and now I feel like I owe you something."
"You do—a monthly payment."
"Cute. It's something more. I know we kissed Marcus but then you said I don't really know you at all. And I'm beginning to think that's true."
"Then get to know me."
"Marcus, do you love me? Or do you love the money I'm making for you?"
"Hmm, right to the point," he uncrosses his legs leaning forward on his elbows, "that's one of the many things I love about you."
"So you do love me."
"Of course I do, we're family."
"That's not what I meant and you know it," I cross my arms in front of me defensively.
"I'm not sure I'm ready to answer that."
"Hmm," I drop my hands to clutch the edge of my desk on either side of me. "I guess I really don't know you at all."
"I think you know me better than you'd care to admit."
And then it clicks, "You want this hotel. And you want me. The only way you can have both is if my marriage to Emily fails." I stand tall surmising his intentions, "YOU want my marriage to fail. You want me lose everything so you can swoop in and be the big hero. I really do know you Marcus you want it all but on your terms."
"They're not my terms, they're Michael's."
"I won't give up. I won't do that to Michael's memory or to Emily."
"Speaking of Emily, is she back from her jog with Maya?"
"Maya?"
"I saw them this morning. Emily said they were going jogging on the beach and that she was waiting for Maya to change."
"So? My daughter is jogging with my wife."
"Is that all they're doing?"
I'm feeling anger well up inside of me, "What are you getting at?"
"Sit down, Angel, just, I'm sorry, I shouldn't of said anything. But the will you know."
"Don't worry about my marriage. We're renewing our wedding vows so that should tell you something."
"It tells me that you're renewing your wedding vows but I don't think either of you are really in love with each other anymore."
"How can you say that! What is wrong with you!"
"Angel, just calm down."
"Don't tell me to calm down! You come into my home and make all these accusations. And that's what they are accusations. You know nothing."
"You're right. I'm sorry. But still you and I kissed. It's possible Emily and Maya may have too?"
"What makes you put them together?"
"They were really close at the club when we joined them. Didn't they work night and day setting up the Zedd fundraiser? And now they're out jogging together. Angel, I'm bringing this up so that if there is something going on, it needs to end. I know what that will says and you could lose everything if your wife is straying with your daughter."
I felt like Alison was insinuating something to that effect too and I've definitely noticed her empty space in our bed. But Maya, my own daughter!
"What are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking it's been a long morning and I realize now why you're here."
"Oh yeah, and why am I here?"
"You want the St. Germain women to mess this up so you can keep the hotel and the profits all to yourself. You used me. You preyed on my emotions with that kiss. You're a greedy fuck, Marcus and sadly I almost fell for you and your charm."
"You did?"
"Don't Marcus."
"Yes, I like money. And this hotel was a great investment. It's worth millions, millions that I would be happy to put in my own pocket."
"Do you have any feelings for me and my family?"
"Of course I do. I've grown to love Lily. She's going to make a great lawyer one day."
"Lawyer?"
"She has the gift of persuasion. And Will is following his dream of working in the political arena so any type of scandal could ruin him. While Maya is, what exactly is Maya doing?"
I'm wondering that myself and who is she doing it with?
"Look, Marcus, I need you to leave."
He stands up but before he walks out the door he says, "We could be great you and I. Divorce Emily and we'll run The Edgemont together."
"Good bye Marcus."
But before he closes the door he says, "Oh and Angel, we need to release Max's illegal deeds to the media. The fundraiser is over. It's time to knock him out once and for all."
He's right. But that's the least of what's going on in my head right now. He's confusing me. I don't know if that kiss was real or a set up and now I don't think I can trust him at all. I run my fingers through my hair remembering I have a guest in my bed. It's time to check on her and find out exactly what she knows about Emily and Maya…
Emily POV
It's late morning, I think we walked for about an hour or at least, that's what it feels like.
"There," she points to a bungalow near the water's edge, no one's home. She takes the hideaway key and unlocks the door.
"I love this. It's small but it's like a romantic getaway."
"My friend is traveling so it's ours for as long as we want," she says, her breath warm on the side of my neck.
I turn to face her. Her presence consumes the space between us. There's just something so physically appealing about her. The sun shines brightly through the window making the golden flecks in her eyes glimmer. I quickly turn away, we can't, we can't do this, not anymore.
"Maya, if we get caught it's over, not just for you and me but for your whole family."
"How is it over for us? I don't care about the money and neither do you."
I turn from her, "But, what about Lily's and Will's futures? It's not fair to them. They need the revenue from The Edgemont for college and their careers. We can't be selfish and take that from them."
I feel her arms wrap around me from behind, "Baby, we'll be careful."
My head falls back onto her shoulder, "You make it sound so easy Maya but it's not."
"It can be."
This isn't real. This isn't my life. I push her arms away walking over to the window staring into the ocean. The waves crashing mesmerize me. I close and open my eyes, looking over my shoulder at Maya watching me and it finally feels like for once, everything is how I want it to be. Maya and me in our little bungalow with no money worries and, only what I've just recently come to realize, we have our love to survive on. But with this stupid will it's not at all how I want it to be.
"Emily, there's something I need to tell you."
"I knew you had something on your mind. I could feel it."
She sits on the edge of the bed and pats the mattress for me to sit next to her.
"Maya, whatever it is, you can tell me."
She takes a deep breath, "It's about that night, that night I keep telling you to forget that you saw me."
Shit, this sounds serious; do I really want to know?
"Go on."
"You already know that Alison and I were having an affair and you know that I ended it."
"And."
"I found out that Max was watching me and Alison have sex. And Alison knew."
"What!" I reach for her hand bringing it to caress my lips. "That's really messed up."
"I was so angry. It turned out that Max would tell Alison to bring me to her bed so he could get off in the room above us."
"That's sick. Maya, I'm so sorry."
She gets up releasing my hand.
"Emily, if I tell you what happened next it changes everything."
"No, it won't."
She inhales deeply once again, "That night, Alison asked me to do something. And I was all in. I was so full of rage that she easily convinced me to do what I did."
"Jesus Maya! You're scaring me."
"I went to the DiLaurentis' house with Alison per Max's instructions. But he didn't know that I knew he would be watching. So, Alison and I got in her bed dressed in only our bras and panties. We pretended we were going to have sex."
"Pretended?" I don't like this.
"Yes. She was on top of me blocking what I was doing beneath her."
I stand, "And what were you doing," I dare her to tell me with a furrowed brow.
"I was securing my hand around the gun under her pillow."
My eyes pop open in shock, "You, you fired the gun!"
"Yes, I fired the gun Emily and Alison is protecting me."
"What do you mean Alison is protecting you?"
"She wiped away my fingerprints and made up a story that she wanted to destroy his sick ways and so she shot at the mirror thinking he was at the fundraiser. She got away with it too at least, she has so far."
"Then why did she go to Angel for a lawyer?"
"Max didn't die. She's protecting her interests."
"You fucking shot the gun that put Max in the hospital. Christ Maya! That's a lot of anger."
"I'm not gonna lie Emily, it felt empowering."
"What! You could've killed him!"
"But I didn't Emily! Fuck! I knew I shouldn't have told you."
"Yes you should've—when it happened. Do you ever get that angry with me?"
"Jealousy and rage are two separate emotions."
"Yeah but put them together and that's a dangerous combination."
"Are you really upset that Max is in the hospital?"
"That's beside the point Maya! How the fuck can I trust you when I don't even know you!"
"Emily! I told you so there would be no secrets between us. I told you because I'm in love with you too!"
"Love! I'm not even sure I know what that is anymore!"
"It's what you and I share."
"Maya, you chose to kill someone or try to kill someone for Alison. You know what that tells me? It tells me that you have this emotional connection with her. Do you love her?"
I can't hear her answer. I put my hands over my face rubbing my tears of anger and disappointment away. And then I do what I should've done in the first place, I walk away.
She grabs my arm, "Don't Emily. Don't go."
"Get your hand off me."
"Emily, please."
She lets me go and I run and run and run until the bungalow is out of sight.
My legs collapse and I kneel in the sand with my fists clenched screaming, "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"
How could she! If he had died, we'd be talking about premeditated murder! I peer over my shoulder looking as far as I can and the tears just run down my face freely.
"Damn it Maya, I don't know you at all!"
Alison POV
"Mmm," I stretch in this gorgeous bed that belongs to this gorgeous powerful woman.
"I see you're up," she walks into the room and sits down next to me. "How are you feeling?"
"I feel good. I think I really needed that."
"I can understand why you aren't sleeping."
"Well, with your help Angel, I think I'll be resting easy from now on."
She laughs, "I've ordered lunch. It should be here shortly so why don't you freshen up and I'll meet you in the dining room."
"Thank you Angel. I will."
She gets up and saunters out of the room and I can see where Maya got her booty from. Hmm, maybe, Maya, this can be a win win situation. I know I have this delicious smirk on my face but how can I help it, the St. Germain women are very, very appealing…
Maya POV
"God dammit Emily! I tell you what happened that night and you runaway just when I need you most!"
I grab the closest thing I can find, a trophy of some sort and I throw it across the room.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! And you didn't even give me the chance to tell you how Alison is trying to blackmail me into sleeping with her!"
I knew what I was saying would be difficult for her to hear but I guess I don't know Emily as well as I thought I did. She has to play everything safe. Safe. That's it! Before she knew about the will she was going to choose me. Why? Because I'm a risk taker and she never takes risks. And this last risk was well past the point of comfort for her. I know what I did was fucked up but it was a risk I had to take.
Emily, I'm not done taking risks. I'm gonna get you back. I'm going to show you that we all make choices we're not proud of but that need to be made. And this time it's going to be you who will choose.
And Emily, you will choose me…
Angel POV
"Angel, everything is just perfect."
"I'm glad you're enjoying it."
"I'm enjoying your company as well."
Do I sense a flirt? I'm flattered but I need answers.
"Alison, you insinuated something about Emily and Maya earlier."
"I did?"
"Yes, I think you did. Is there something I should know?"
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to insinuate anything. I guess my imagination went a little wild when I found out Maya and Emily were working day and night on that fundraiser."
"That doesn't mean anything."
"Or it means something."
She's right.
Narrator POV
Lily must've come home when Alison was resting. She slips back into her room silently.
"Maya and Emily if you fuck up my inheritance for me I'll—I'll…"
Her cell phone buzzes. It's Uncle Marcus.
Her face lights up, "I'll just have to play both sides."
Emily POV
I feel like such the fool. I'm tired and dirty and I just want to sink into my own bathtub without an audience so I really hope Alison has left.
But when I enter the penthouse suite I hear laughter. It's Angel and Alison having lunch. What is she doing? First Maya and now Angel! She's making me feel rage. I want to destroy her for destroying Maya! How could she do what she did to her! I swear to god I could kill her!
"Emily is that you?"
"Huh, yeah, hi."
I approach the table and Alison has this look in her eye like the chess master she is. It's all a game to her and we're all her little pawns.
"How was your jog with Maya?" Angel asks.
Does everyone know she was with me?
"It was fine but I'm cramping up so I'm just going to take a bath, okay?"
"Well, there's some nice fruit here when you're ready."
"Actually I should be going anyway. Angel you've been wonderful. Thank you so much for taking care of me and letting me sleep in your bed."
My head shakes away the fog surrounding it. What? Sleep in my bed? What the fuck is she up to?
She gets up, kisses Angel on the cheek when her cell phone rings taking her attention away from me and Alison. Then, as she brushes past me she whispers, "Angel is amazing and absolutely intoxicating. I'd fuck her."
I look at her in shock! Did she really just say that? She's a viper out to poison anyone in her way!
I can't right now. I need to relax before I do something I'll regret.
I add some lavender oil to the bath and step in. It's hot and it feels so good. I lean back on the cushion for my neck and go over everything Maya told me again and again. She was raging as she put it. I was raging just now and it wasn't because someone was watching me have sex it was because I was jealous. I'm jealous that Alison had Maya and now I'm jealous because it looks like she's angling for more, my wife. Then I remember what I said to Maya, jealousy and rage are a dangerous combination.
Fuck!
I splash the water with the palm of my hand. Why did I walk away? Damn it Maya!
I go over everything she said one more time. And I finally come to the only conclusion I can.
It wasn't Maya's rage. It was Alison filling Maya's ear with that rage. She manipulated her. She manipulated her!
Fuck!
Maya told me everything. It must've been so hard for her to do that and all I did was scream at her and run away! I'm such a coward. I won't divorce Angel and I blamed everything on Maya.
"Emily, is everything all right in there?" Angel asks sweetly.
"Yeah. I just over did it. I'm not as young as Maya and she pushed me to my limits."
"Is Maya in her room?"
"We went our separate ways. I'm not sure where she is," I lie.
She has this relieved look on her face, "Well, I'm going to my office. If you need anything just call," she kisses my forehead.
"I will."
When she's gone I sink beneath the bubbles wishing I could choose without hurting anyone. But the realization sets in, it doesn't matter what I choose because someone will end up losing…
