"The wedding will be stopped short of your vows so you don't have to remarry. You're so upset that your daughter is arrested that you can't go through with the wedding. Maya goes to prison and Emily will do exactly as you tell her to do when you remind her that without your fortune, Maya doesn't stand a chance in the appeals process."

She has Angel's complete attention and now she's going to make sure to seal the deal with her sex. Angel starts taking off her clothes. She crawls on the bed moving Alison's hand away.

"Alison, you make this happen and you'll be a very wealthy, powerful woman. I'll make you the Queen of Edgemont."

Angel hovers over her.

"Fuck me Angel. Fuck me like I'm your Queen and this is your kingdom..."

Chapter 19: The Wedding

One Month Later...

Maya POV

Emily is restless in bed.

"Baby, hey, what is it?"

She rolls her naked body onto her side resting her head on the pillows mirroring my image, "You know what it is. I'm getting married the day after tomorrow to a woman I don't love anymore while I'm lying in bed with the only woman I could ever love."

I gently push her messy after sex hair behind her ear, tracing her jawline with my fingertips, brushing them over her pouty lips. She kisses them with her perfect bow shape. Bow, as in arrow...

"You have to do this Emily. It's not just about us. It never has been. You know, even though Lily is a super brat, she deserves the same education as Wil and I got. She should be able to go to the college of her choice and travel the world if that's something she chooses to do. So, if you don't do this then in a way, we're responsible for whatever fool choices she might make. You know my sister, she has a rebellious streak."

"Yeah, I wonder who she got that from," she smiles, a beautiful, in a way, innocent smile.

"Hey now," I smile back with a wink.

"Maya?"

"Yeah baby," I caress her cheek tenderly with the back of my hand.

She sighs, "I wish I met you first."

"Oh, so do I. So do I."

We giggle for a minute but the reality is we didn't. And now we have to do what's right.

"Angel is so angry all the time now."

"I know. But can you blame her? She loved my dad so much and I think she just wanted to love someone the way he loved her but no one could ever come close to making her feel those feelings. And, I think, maybe that's why she pulled away. I kinda wonder if she was letting you go on purpose."

She furrows her brow and then relaxes it, "It felt that way. It felt like she gave up on us and I was tired of fighting. I needed someone to want me as much as I wanted them and the first time I saw you back from Europe, I felt it. I felt something I shouldn't have been feeling."

"When I saw your picture I thought, wow, Angel is a very lucky woman but then when I saw you naked, I just knew I would be the lucky one."

"You're so bad," she pushes my shoulder back.

I settle back on my side facing her, "It's true though. I was going to flirt with you until you submitted to me. And when you finally did, I knew I couldn't let you go."

She snuggles into me, caressing my bare belly, tracing letters or numbers, I'm not sure which, but I like it, I like the subtleness of her touch.

I kiss the top of her head, keeping her close.

"Maya?"

"Mmmhmm..."

"Are you sure you want me to do this? I mean, you wanted me to walk away not so long ago."

"That was then though. We didn't know about the clause in the will at that time. I can't fuck my family over any more than I already have. Don't cha think It's about time I do what's right for them too?"

She looks up at me, "Tell me we're going to be okay."

"Emily, baby, we're going to be okay," I say out loud but, I too, wonder if we really will be okay...

Angel POV

"What are you looking at mom?" Lily asks.

I wipe away the tears trying to hide their sentimentality. I sweep my legs to the floor extending a hand for her to sit next to me on the couch.

"Oh, honey, it's just pictures of you kids growing up..."

"And dad?"

"Yeah. And dad," I say softly.

"But why? You're renewing your vows to Emily. Don't you love her anymore?" I can see this look in her eyes that knows too much for their own good.

"I do."

"But..."

"But, I will never love anyone like I loved your father."

"Do you want to renew your vows mom?"

"It's not that simple," I look at the photos, turning the pages as we talk.

"You have to, I know," she frowns.

"Lily, I've worked so hard for us to make a name for ourselves, to keep the St. Germain reputation intact."

"And you have."

"Yes, but it's complicated. Sometimes you have to do things for the many to sacrifice the few."

"You mean Maya?"

I look at her, this intuitive teenager I've raised, "Maya and I will always have this distance between us. She was Michael's little angel and you were his pride and joy. Wil, well, he was the one your father never had to worry about and for that matter neither do I."

"Mom, I don't want to be poor."

I chuckle, "What are you talking about?"

"I know you have to marry Emily but I'd rather you marry Uncle Marcus."

"What?"

"He loves you. I know he does. But because he can't have you I think he's doing stuff he shouldn't be doing."

"I don't understand."

"I went to see him," she looks away.

"Why?" I put the photo album on the coffee table leaning towards her, needing her to look at me and explain herself.

"I wanted to tell him to fight for you but when I got there he had been drinking."

I cup her face, "Did he hurt you?"

"No, it wasn't like that. He didn't even know I was there. I just watched him."

"And what did you see?" I ask letting my hands fall to hers, holding them tenderly.

"I saw a man who loves you so much that he'd rather destroy you than see you love another."

I let her go, "That's quite the profound statement."

"It's true. He picked up this glass bottle of something and threw it against the patio. Then he fell to his knees crying in his hands and he said..."

"What? What did he say?"

"I love you Angel. I really do. And I won't let you annihilate the St. Germain name! This is war Angel! This is war!"

I'm unnerved by her account of what she saw, "Jesus Lily, what did you do?"

"I ran and I haven't gone back since. Mom, Uncle Marcus is really in love with you. And I think you have feelings for him too. He's hurt so he's declaring this stupid war with you."

"My feelings for Marcus are anything but love," I put my arm on the back of the couch, close to Lily and gingerly play with her hair.

"Do you even know what love is?" She asks.

"What?" My fingers stop mid-caress.

"You don't love Emily, not like you should, yet you're marrying her. At least with Uncle Marcus, you know he loves you. And you, at least I think a part of you, loves him too."

I fall back into the couch cushions wondering what to make of all this.

"Marry Uncle Marcus mom. He's the one not Emily," she kisses me on the cheek and walks away.

My hand massages my forehead, aching from this conversation, aching from my anger, aching from my scheming, aching from Alison getting in my head.

I pick up the photo album and there's my little Maya. She's not my little Maya anymore but she's still my daughter...

Home of Marcus St. Germain...

I'm led to the backyard of Marcus St. Germain. His view of the Edgemont is breathtaking. I almost forgot that he wakes up to that beautiful structure every day and every day he's reminded that it's not his...

He stands with his back to me sipping from a short glass of scotch.

"Marcus?"

He turns around somewhat startled, "Angel? What are you doing here?"

"Can you pour me one of those?"

"Sure," he says relaxing a bit in his posture.

He hands me a glass which I sip or rather gulp giving me the liquid courage I need to speak, "Marcus, I'm done."

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean. This family is falling apart over money and power. That will is ridiculous and you know it."

"It's not that ridiculous when it comes to protecting the family name."

"It is when it comes to destroying it too."

He sighs, "Come, sit."

I join him on the outdoor patio furniture surrounded by beautiful greenery, looking out towards the pool with the Edgemont in the background.

"So, what do you expect me to do?"

I take another long sip of my drink, "Stay away from Alison. I know what you want her to do and quite frankly, I just don't care anymore. And don't even sit there like you have no idea what I'm talking about."

"Angel..."

"Lily, saw you. She saw your pain. She saw you, a man who would do whatever he has to, to keep the family name untarnished and to steal me away from Emily."

He chuckles, "I could just take you. She doesn't want you anymore."

"True."

He has a look of surprise on his face because I just admitted our marriage is a failure.

"You win Marcus. I don't love Emily, not the way I loved your brother. And she felt it. She felt it so much that she turned to someone who could love her the way I loved Michael."

"Maya."

"Yes."

"I don't like this. It's too easy. You do realize you'll end up with nothing if I report this."

"But you won't."

"And why wouldn't I?"

"Because Lily loves you and she wants you to be her step-father, she wants us to be married. In her words, she doesn't want to be poor."

"I, I had no idea she felt that way."

"Neither did I."

"Angel..."

"You'll destroy her, we all will, so Marcus, I'm begging you, contest the will. Have that clause erased..."

Emily POV

Angel walks into the penthouse as I'm looking through the photo albums she left out.

"What are you doing she asks?"

A tear trickles down my face, "Angel, I'm so sorry."

"What are you talking about?"

"Your family. I, I destroyed your family."

Angel puts her hands in her hair, "Oh I think we all had a hand in that."

"So what do we do?"

"We do nothing."

"What do you mean?"

"Exactly what I said."

She leaves me with these incredible memories of her life and her family's life. And, at this point, I can't even imagine why she's choosing to do nothing...

Alison POV

The day before the wedding...

I open my hotel room door to Angel who looks somehow different, motherly so to speak.

"What is it? Is everything okay?" I let her in.

"Yes. Actually no."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm not going to do it."

"What aren't you going to do? Marry Emily?"

"No. I'm not going to let you send Maya to prison."

"But we have a plan."

"Look Alison, its prison. It changes people."

"And what about me?"

"Keep with your original story. Max has nothing. He can't send you to prison either."

"I don't trust Max. That's what this whole thing was about Angel. Maya stole your wife from you and tried to kill a man. We talked about this!"

She walks to the door grasping the handle, she looks over her shoulder, "I'm done."

But before she can leave I demand, "What the hell changed!"

"I guess motherhood. You wouldn't understand. I'm tired of vengeance. It's time for me to take care of my entire family."

"But what about me?" I demand flipping my sexy blonde hair over my shoulder, wanting Angel to choose me.

She looks at the door, pushes down on the handle and as she steps out of my room she says, "Good bye Alison."

When the door clicks I take the closest thing I can find to throw! Crash! The glass vase hits the door. I know she heard it.

"You shouldn't have betrayed me Angel!"

She takes in several deep breaths, "But you know what they say, always have a backup plan..."

Narrator POV

"What did you find out?" Max asks.

"Well, Angel St. Germain is renewing her wedding vows with her wife, Emily Fields. Alison is living at the hotel and seems to be tight with both Angel and Marcus St. Germain."

"I see."

"And Maya?"

"She spends a lot of time out of sight as does her step mother, Emily. That just sounds so bizarre."

"That doesn't tell me anything."

"Well, there is..."

"There is what?"

"Alison."

"There's more? What about that bitch?"

"She wants to make a deal with you."

He takes his cane and rather shakily stands to face his private investigator and confidant, Jake Coleman, "A deal? Of course she wants to make a deal. She doesn't want to go to prison. Tell her there will be no deals!" He breathes through clenched teeth slamming his cane against the hardwood floor.

"Oh, but I think you're gonna want to hear this one."

"Why? Why would I want to hear anything from that whore! And how did she even know to go to you?"

"I guess I wasn't being as private as I thought."

"Really. You weren't being as private as you thought. Then what the hell am I paying you for!"

"You've used me before. She recognized me in the bar."

"What did she say?" He fumes.

"She said she can get you the Edgemont and your reputation back if you stop any action towards sending her to prison and go after Maya only."

"Her lover? Why would I even consider that when she's the one who tried to kill me!"

"Because when everyone finds out that Maya St. Germain was the one who pulled the trigger..."

"Wait! What!"

"It's true. Angel St. Germain owns controlling interest in The Edgemont but the other forty-nine percent belongs to the public. Their stocks will plummet giving you the opportunity to buy them up with the money in your offshore accounts."

"Who says I have offshore accounts?"

"According to Alison, she has proof that you do."

"Of course she does."

"Anyway, you'll now own competing interest in The Edgemont and you can use Maya's get out of jail free card to own it outright and there'll be nothing anyone can do about it."

"How do you know this is what really happened?"

"I saw the recording Alison took."

"I thought all the security cameras were down."

"They were. She used a nanny cam for insurance."

"That little...," he sits back down, "Alison, Alison, Alison you little minx. That can't be all she wants."

"It isn't."

"Let me guess, money?"

"Yes and no. To be the CEO of The Edgemont. You'll force Angel's hand and she'll have no choice but to hand it over to Alison or risk a prison sentence for her daughter."

"Hahaha! Of course she does! Money and power. She's giving up her story about shooting me so she can gain money and power."

"She'll stand by you. A business deal as it were."

"What do you think?" He asks the only person he can confide in at the moment.

"Quite honestly, this is the only way you'll be redeemed. And you'll also need to set up a foundation."

"A foundation? A foundation for what?"

"It's the community that needs to forgive you. So, grease their palms and Max DiLaurentis is back on top again."

He leans back tapping his fingertips together, "Alison, Alison, Alison," he swivels his chair to face him, "and what about our district attorney?"

"Give all the money back and they don't have a case."

"What! Then I'll have nothing! I'll have to start over!"

"You have to clean up your business dealings or you'll never be forgiven and you'll never make any more money here or anywhere. And you know The Edgemont is worth millions. The district attorney can still try to prosecute but he'll probably drop it."

"Why would he do that?"

"I'm guessing there are a few judges that owe you favors. Cash in now. And when the time is right, you can use one of them to drop the charges against Maya so Alison can be crowned the CEO."

"If you were me what would you do?"

"Take the deal. Pay everyone back that you cheated and start over. Be legit."

"I'm not sure I know how to be legit."

"Alison does."

"Alison. Oh Alison does. She sure covers all her bases doesn't she?"

"Yes sir, yes sir she does."

"I don't know. The police got an earful from her. How does my reputation recover from that?"

"She's going to tell the police she changed her mind about protecting Maya when you found out what really happened."

"I don't follow."

"Alison will say that Maya found out about you spying on them so she took matters into her own hands. She then threatened Alison if she said anything. And when you found out the real story, you told Alison that you would protect her from Maya."

"I did, did I?"

"In the same way you were trying to protect her by keeping that one way mirror, you feared that Maya was seducing Alison into an affair just so she could get to you for going after her family and the St. Germain name. You don't blame Alison for letting Maya in because you weren't the best husband."

Max gives Jake a look.

"It's true. And it's the only way I see any of this working out for you. You're making amends personally and professionally."

"Alison told you all this?"

"She did."

"Why should I trust you to keep any of this between the three of us?"

"Because your wife promised me a handsome salary on top of what you're already paying me in exchange for my discreetness."

"Well you tell my darling wife..."

"Tell her what?"

He swivels his desk chair back and forth until finally he stops to face Jake, "Deal."

Narrator POV

The day of the wedding...

Emily and Angel are renewing their vows. The beach is set up with white all around...chairs, a carpet leading to the edge of the water where a trellis of sorts forms an arch of white flowers. It's everything one would dream a wedding could be, the perfect beach nuptials.

Emily is dressed in a white spaghetti strap long dress and she's choosing to go barefoot. Angel is wearing white linen pants and a white silk sleeveless shirt showing off her toned, tan arms. She's wearing white wedge sandals to give her some extra height next to Emily. Maya chooses a white suit instead of a dress, while Wil chooses white pants and a light blue tie against his white button down shirt. Lily looks exquisite in her strapless white sundress. She decides on white flip flops to accentuate her purple painted toes.

The guests have gathered including Uncle Marcus who looks dapper in his white vest, pleated pants and shiny white shoes. While Alison makes no attempt to be subtle. She's dressed to the nines in an all-white form fitting dress but one would think she was the one getting married.

"Well, I guess we should head to the beach," Wil tries ushering everyone along though none of them seem too excited.

Angel looks at Emily, "Trust me. We're doing the right thing."

They all gather on the beach. Emily hooks Angel's arm with hers and they begin their walk down the aisle. A violinist plays off to the side and it seems as though this is the longest walk either of them has ever taken. Maya stands in the front row next to Lily and Wil while Marcus stands on the opposite side of the aisle.

Alison stands in the back watching until a shuffling sound in the sand catches her attention. She looks over her shoulder to spy Max approaching with his cane, his shoes dragging against the grains. She takes the empty seat next to her giving Max room to stand beside her.

"Well," she remarks.

"It's done."

"The video was sent to the police?" Alison asks.

"It was sent to the police and every email in the Edgemont's system. Thank you by the way for everything, especially your forgiveness."

"It was my pleasure," she says with a touch of vengeance. "Forgive and forget."

Emily and Angel stand facing each other. The justice of the peace goes through the motions and before you know it, it's time to say their vows to each other. Maya can't watch.

The justice looks to Emily to go first but Angel insists on taking the lead. She reaches for Emily's hands holding them gently in hers.

"Thank you all for gathering here today to celebrate the renewal of mine and Emily's wedding vows. We were first married in Nevada and now that Florida recognizes same sex marriage we decided we should recognize our marriage here as well. But things have changed since this new law came into effect."

Emily cocks her head to the side wondering what the hell she's doing.

"Emily and I grew apart. Why? Well, I never really gave her the chance to be my wife because I never really stopped being Michael's. He was the love of my life and I know I'm not Emily's. But I'm okay with that now, though I wasn't at first. You see, there is a clause in my husband's will that says I need to be married for ten years before his fortune will truly be mine. I can't do that to Emily or to my family. I can't imprison a woman who doesn't love me the way she should and the way I should love her."

Tears fill Emily's eyes. Lily is in shock. Wil looks proud of his mother for being so brave. Maya can't believe what's happening. And Marcus isn't sure what to think. Alison and Max look at each other smirking as this isn't all that's going to hit the fan.

"So, I stand before you today, giving up everything I've worked so hard for, giving it back to Michael's brother Marcus," she says getting choked up. "I will not marry this woman."

Those tears flow freely down Emily's cheeks as their guests listen with gasps in between.

"I will not keep her from the one her heart belongs to, from the one she cannot live without."

Emily's head snaps up. Maya's head snaps up. The guests begin chattering amongst them anxious to hear who Emily's heart really belongs to, whom she cannot live without.

"Today, we will not be celebrating the renewal of mine and Emily's wedding vows," she looks to her assistant who hands her a piece of paper. "This paper, Emily, is your freedom. Sign it and we will be officially divorced in the eyes of Nevada and all states that acknowledge same sex marriage."

Emily's hands cover her mouth in disbelief. The crowd gasps as if on cue. She takes the pen from Angel and signs every line that she points to. She then gives the divorce papers to Angel upon which she hands to her assistant.

"You have just witnessed my divorce to Emily Fields and now you'll be witnessing what you really came here for, a wedding."

Alison is in shock, "She wouldn't."

"Oh but she would," Max holds onto his cane tightly.

More gasps from the guests.

Angel steps down from the platform on the beach and walks over to her daughter. She whispers in her ear and they hug with a love that hasn't been apparent in a very long time. Maya shares in her tears.

"Ladies and gentleman, you are cordially invited to witness the wedding of my daughter, Maya St. Germain to the love of her life, Emily Fields."

"I didn't see that one coming, I thought for sure she'd be marrying Marcus," Alison remarks with an air of superiority trying not to sound disappointed.

"There, there Alison," Max taps the small of her back, "in just a few short moments, none of this will even matter," he says smugly.

Angel slips her hand in Maya's walking her back to the platform, helping her step into the spotlight with Emily. They squeeze hands and smile. While the guests, chatter and half applaud, not knowing quite how to react until Angel joins them.

Emily is shaking and crying as Maya cups her face reassuring her with her eyes. She takes a step closer and speaks softly to her, "Emily Fields, will you marry me?"

She can only nod her head in the affirmative as she cannot find the words to say yes.

"Well, that was something I can honestly say I've never witnessed before in my life," the Justice remarks.

Lily stomps her feet and folds her arms in front of her chest. She just lost the St. Germain fortune and she's pissed! Wil on the other hand claps and hollers loudly encouraging them to do it.

Angel looks on, as her daughter marries her just minutes ago ex-wife, but it doesn't hurt like she thought it might. She actually feels relieved. She glances at Marcus who is overcome by emotion as well. But it's unclear if it's because of the not wedding, or the wedding, or the fact that he now owns The Edgemont outright or, if he, in the end, had the clause in the will erased.

And the Justice of the Peace says, "I now pronounce you wife and wife. You may kiss."

Their lips touch sweetly yet firmly. They turn to the crowd raising their entwined hands while the justice announces, "I now present to you, Mrs. and Mrs. Fields St. Germain."

The crowd cheers but the sounds of cell phones ringing everywhere interrupt this momentous occasion. Alison and Max smile wickedly as the guests cover their mouths in horror watching Maya firing a gun shot after shot after shot.

Angel grabs a cell phone from a guest's hand and watches the crime play out on video.

Sirens blare as the police storm the beach ordering everyone to sit down in their seats as they rush through the center aisle right up to the floral arch.

"Maya St. Germain?"

"Yes, what is this about?"

"You're under arrest for the attempted murder of Max DiLaurentis."

"What? What are you talking about?" Emily screams.

They step onto the platform twisting Maya around, cuffing her wrists.

The police lead her away, "Emily!" she cries over her shoulder!

They recite Maya her Miranda rights, "You have the right to remain silent..."

Emily cries out! She screams for them to let her wife go! She pushes through the crowd only to be held back by the police!

"Let me go! She's my wife! You can't do this!"

"But we can. We have the proof we need to arrest her."

"Nooo!"

Angel and Wil rush to her side while Lily runs to her Uncle's arms. Alison and Max slip away with the harried crowd getting help from his driver. They rush as fast as Max is able into his limo.

"Well, Alison DiLaurentis that was the most fun I've had in ages."

"It really was!"

"You've earned your soon to be CEO title. And I have earned my rightful place back on top."

He pops a cork from a bottle of Champagne and pours them each a glass, they clink them together, "To the redemption of the DiLaurentis name."

Alison seconds that, "To playing them all."
