Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail, I only own this little story I came up by my own.

I'm so sorry I didn't update soon enough! Enjoy~

Normal P.O.V.

The celestial mage woke up with her blonde hair sticking in every direction. She got out of her bed and went to her bathroom to take a cold shower to wake her up from her still sleepy state of mind. Stepping out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her, she made her way to her wardrobe to pick out her usual clothes – white and blue sleeveless shirt and a blue mini skirt with black boots.

She picked up her whip and celestial keys and made her way out of her rented apartment, going towards the infamous guild called Fairy Tail in which she was a part of. 'Okay, plan for today, first go see Mira to ask for some breakfast, next I should probably go check out some magic shops to see if they heard any celestial mages open for apprenticeship. I hope I wouldn't bump into someone from the guild.' She thought, staring into the distance while walking on top of the short wall that seperates the river and the street.

"Miss Lucy! Be careful!" The fishermen called out. "I will!" She replied, smiling and waving at them.

As the guild came into her view, someone tapped her shoulder from behind. "Miss Lucy Heartfillia?" The said woman turned around and stared into black orbs that belonged to a man dressed in a white dress shirt with black jeans and black shoes. His black hair tussled and wet, as if he just taken a shower. He slicked them back, giving Lucy a wonderful view of his handsome face.

His hands were placed in his pockets and he had something in him that just says 'self-confidence' like he always know what to do and how to get it.

Lucy could feel the amount of celestial energy contained in him, a wild, tamed energy just waiting to come out. Her hand immediately went to her keys, jangling on her belt.

He smirked at Lucy's reaction and continued, "My name is Chris, I was sent here from the Council to retrieve you." His smooth voice caught her off guard.

"Council?"

"Lucy Heartfilia, we request your presence here today to discuss important matters." A monotone voice boomed through the spacious room. The celestial mage was standing on a pedestal, surrounded by very important and powerful mages of all kind.

She was getting nervous from all the stares she received, feeling like a rare specimen in a cage being observed.

"U-Uh, what exactly do you require of me?" She squeaked out,

"We heard that you were leaving Fairy Tail," A melodious voice spoke out. She turned and met the eyes of a young woman, sitting at a chair with her arms placed neatly on her lap, her left leg on top of the other.

"H-How did-" "We are the Magic Council, dear. We know everything." She said gently with a smile.

"We called you here to offer you a job." Another voice said.

Lucy turned her head to the left, staring at the man that just spoke. He looked like he was in his fifties, with hair that was starting to show his age, but still handsome regardless.

"W-What job exactly?" She asked nervously, intimidated by the stare the middle-aged man was giving her.

"There's a secret dark guild that has shown up recently, we call them Obsidian. They have been raiding magic shops and taking celestial keys."

"Celestial keys?" Lucy began to worry. "We'll get to that subject," He said.

"They have also caused havoc in several top secret places that connects our world to the celestial realm," the previous woman added, placing her elbow on one of the arms of her chair, her head placed in her hand.

"You are here, to help us catch them." A new voice joined in. Lucy turned and met obsidian eyes. She looked away, her mind reminding her of who else has those eyes.

"I-I think you're mistaken, I'm not strong enough to beat a dark guild, you need my friends, Natsu, Erza..." she trailed off. "Ah yes, Salamander and Titania." The middle-aged man murmured, stroking his stubble.

"They do not possess what you have in you," the woman said, eyes fixed on the blonde mage. "I-In me?" "Well, all of celestial mages actually." This time, Lucy took a good look of the man with the voice. He had blonde hair and a petite built, not someone you expected to have the kind of voice he has, low and smooth.

"What are you talking about?" Lucy asked, her interest piqued.

"You'll have to join our cause to know dear, and by that means training, hard-core." The woman smirked, a glint in her eyes. "This is serious bussiness young lady, top secret, we don't just randomly pick celestial mages on the street, we see their potential and how much their influence could improve our plans." The aging man said.

Lucy thought about it, this is the oppurtinity that she has been waiting for. Well, not exactly, instead of an apprenticeship she could be a potential spy for the Council, but she will still get her training.

"I need to think about this.." Lucy said slowly, a hand on her chin. "We understand, what about three days?" The petite man asked, his face blank. "Okay.."

"Oh, and there are other things you need to consider besides how hard the training will be." "Like?" "You need to quit your guild."

Chris escorted Lucy back to the guild, being a quiet companion. They stopped in front of the large doors. While he waited for her to come in, Lucy was deep in thought, not noticing her surroundings.

"Hey," His voice snapped Lucy back to the real world and she looked around, befuddled. "Oh, thanks.." She whispered, but just stared at the wooden surface. 'I don't think I can come in there, and see my friends, it might change my mind..'

Lucy was struggling to convince herself that leaving the guild and train was the right thing to do. But the voices in her head kept reminding her that once she finished the training, she might go to a job she'll never come out alive of. They kept taunting her, making her rethink of her importance in the plan.

'There are much more powerful celestial mages they could find, they don't need me.' Soon, her thoughts wandered to the comfort of staying here, with the guild, with all her loving friends. The only family she has left.

'But then, I'm still so insecure about my powers, no matter what, I will always be the weak one.' She huffed and ran a hand through her blonde locks, not noticing the amused spectator beside her.

'And think about what the others will do too, they won't just walk away from this if their in my shoes. They'll also think about the importance of the mission, they won't walk away...but then am I really that important!?' "Hey, I'm still here you know?" "S-Sorry, Chris, I zoned out there for a minute."

"Or two," he checked his watch, "or five." "Sorry." She sighed and raked her hair with her fingers again. He watched her for a minute before sighing, "Well, my orders were to take you to the guild and see to it that you're safely inside," he gestured to the building for extra emphasis and then dropped his hand to his side. "But that's not gonna happen soon, huh?"

She shook her head a bit, an apologizing look on her face. "Don't worry, I know excatly what you're going through, I was offered the same thing. I decided to join and quit my guild." She knows that he's offering her his help and decided to take it.

"Care to tell me your story?" She asked with a smile. Chris stood facing her, he was taller than her by almost a head. He stared at her for a moment, obsidian eyes boring into hers. She almost looked away when he did it first, sighing as he ruffled his hair.

'He's cute actually, sharp features, tall, lean – ' She cut off her thoughts before it went too far. "It's a long story, and quite different from yours." He looked at her at the corner of his eye. Lucy shrugged and started to walk away a bit. She stopped at a little shop just outside the line of view of Fairy Tail. She sat down at the bench outside and Chris sat next to her, leaning back, relaxing.

"So, unlike your guild, mine wasn't like a family, it was like a house full of competitors. Everyone wants to beat someone else, there was rarely any teams and if there were it was probably siblings that actually tolerate each other and don't want to beat each other."

His voice was smooth, hinting no emotions. He looks off into the distance, reminiscing. "I took the job cause I just wanted to get away from it all, but a voice inside me kept telling me that it was because I wanted to be better than them, that I was like them, selfish. And I almost believed it cause I didn't even think about the purpose of the job of the training – "

"But you're not." Lucy stated. His eyes whipped to meet hers, widened and surprised. "You're here helping me aren't you? That's not selfish. You're still in the cause and you didn't quit after your training, right? If you were selfish you would've quit after your training and showed off to your ex-guildmates."

He chuckled softly. His lips stretched into a smile as he looked at her with soften eyes. "I guess you're right." His voice had a tilt, indicating that he was amused. Lucy could feel her cheeks burning and looked away.

"After I accepted, they told me they chose me because of my will to train, to work hard. I learned fast and I'm the fastest to finish my training, time is crucial for this mission. They have already scouted billions of celestial mages, including karen lilica – "

"Karen Lilica!?" "Yes, but even with her great deal of power, she doesn't have that much potential to develop, to become more powerful. Not to mention she treats her spirits like objects to use, she was immediately rejected. But you Lucy, you treat your spirits like family, respect and cherish them, not to mention that you have big potential to grow, if you take this job, you'll be even more powerful than Karen, you're a very valuable asset, to lose you is a big loss."

Lucy ponders about the new discovery, "But my friends, I can't just up and leave without an explanation, how will I explain to Master that I have to go without telling him everything?" "The Council will handle that. And about your friends, I can't help you in that matter. I don't have much experience on that department."

He stood up and faced her, "But I know you would want to protect them, and Lucy I am telling you this because it's the truth. We don't have much time, if you join us, our chances of succeeding will be bigger than ever before. I won't promise that we'll make it out alive, but I could promise that if you join we have a strong chance of protecting everyone and saving the world."

The streets here at this hour were quiet, only a few kids with bikes passing by, the adults already working. A few kids ran pass, "Come on! I want to see the Fairy Tail mages fight again!" "They're so cool!"

Their smiles were blinding, their energy rejuvenating, something so precious and fragile that could be crushed at any moment.

Another sound filtered in, a little girl's cry for her father, her mother cooing that he'll be home from work in a few days. The sound came from a balcony across the street. Lucy looked up and saw a little girl, no more than three years old, crying and being hugged by her mom. The woman looked dishelved and tired, she hugged her child, hiding the worry and pain in her eyes.

A heartbeat later, words slipped from the blonde mage's mouth,

"I'll join."
