Hey, so I decided to write another little story... Hopefully it'll be okay... However, this ended up shorter than I wanted it to and not actually how I wanted it to go... Whoops :s
Any how, here's this story! If you like it, please review, favourite or follow :)
TITLE: Disappointment
SUMMARY:
DISCLAIMER: I own nothing to do with Gilmore Girls and nor will I ever.
For as long as you can remember, you and your mother have never gotten along. It's not that the two of you don't try, it's more that you can't. You're two entirely different people, both strong, independent women, and both entirely incompatible with one another. You just seem to rub each other the wrong way. The two of you just don't get along, and you doubt that that'll ever change. Which is unfortunate, but what can you do?
Try harder? Let sleeping dogs lie? Don't purposely antagonise her?
Okay, there's quite a few things that you could do, but you won't.
After all, if she doesn't then why should you?
And you know that that's not the way to look at things, you know that things will never get better if you maintain that attitude, that belief. But you can't help it. You try not to but then she says something and you say something and all the ugly feelings the two of you share immediately come rushing up to the surface.
When you think about it, really really think about it, you come to the conclusion that the two of you have never not argued. You can't remember a time when there hasn't been bitter tension between the two of you.
And, honestly, that makes you sad.
Particuarly when you compare it to your relationship with Rory. But hey, what can you do?
With a sigh, you get out of your jeep, sliding across the front seat and grabbing your bag as you do so. Standing up straight, you smooth the creases from your dress in a futile attempt to avoid one of your mother's scathing, dismissive comments. Once more you sigh, before heading to the door and ringing the bell. As you wait for the latest maid to answer it, you take a deep breath, mentally preparing yourself for another evening of passive-aggressive comments from your mother as you discover even more ways to disappoint her.
Because that's all you can ever do.
Lorelai Gilmore, disappointing mothers since 1968.
