EPILOGUE (FANG POV)
The next morning, I woke up in the hospital. Well, more accurately, I woke up in the waiting room of the hospital. Groggily, I stood up and stretched my stiff muscles. The waiting room was filled with my family and our friends. Ari was curled up next to Angel on a questionable love seat. Iggy and Gazzy slept with their backs to each other. My mom was the worst of all: her legs were all over the place and her snores filled the otherwise empty silence. Shaking my head, I walked out of the room and through the empty hallways of the hospital. Technically we weren't even supposed to still be in here, but I guess they must have made an exception due to our…situation.
I turned left at the corner and entered the room on the far right of the hallway. Closing the door gently behind me, I walked through the room and quietly sat down in the only chair in the room.
"Hey, Max."
FLASHBACK TO THE NIGHT BEFORE
"MAX!" I screamed as her pulse went flat.
A paramedic turned towards me and tried to calm me down. "Sir, you need to calm down. We are doing the best that we can-" One glance of my death stare was enough to shut him up.
I looked around the ambulance to see if there was anything in here that could help me. As I became more and more panicked, I barely noticed as my adrenaline rose. Adrenaline… Suddenly, an idea struck me, much like an electric shock.
"CLEAR!" The paramedics screamed as they shocked Max. Steady vibrations pulsed the air as the resuscitator charged for another shock. Sweeping through the cabinets, I grabbed what I needed and pushed the paramedics out of the way.
"MOVE!" I screamed as I plunged an adrenaline needle straight into Max's heart.
"What the hell are you doing?!" One of them screamed at me. I ignored them. Staring at Max's face earnestly, I waited for any sign of life. Everything was silent until…
beep
With a snap, Max opened her eyes and bolted upright. She doubled over and gasped for air.
"Shhhh. You're okay, Max." I held her as she calmed down. "You're welcome," I said glaring back at the paramedics.
"Hey, Fang." Max smiled at me weakly. "I'm waiting."
"Waiting? Waiting for what?"
"Well, if I recall correctly, there was a certain promise that we made yesterday."
Frowning, I tried to remember what in the hell she was talking about. Then I blushed furiously as I remembered what I had said.
"Promise me that you'll marry me and we'll have a life together, that we'll have a happily ever after."
Damn this woman and her accursed elephant-like memory!
"I don't know what you're talking about." I turned away.
"Oh, really? Then how come you're blushing like that?" Max laughed as my face went a shade darker. "Well, if you're not gonna say it, then I will." Taking a big breath, Max began. "Fang Martinez-"
"You're doing it all wrong." I rolled my eyes. "You're not supposed to say it, I am. Plus, you can't use a person's nickname in a proposal."
"Oh, so you do remember." Max smirked. "And are you trying to say that I can't propose to you just because I'm a woman?"
"No! Look, do you want me to say it or not?" I asked in frustration. Max's smirk widened just as I realized that she had tricked me into admitting that I was about to propose. Sighing, I tried to look pissed, but I couldn't keep the smile off of my face.
Getting out of my chair, I knelt in front of her. "Maximum Ride, I love you. I will love you in life and in death. I will always love you. I want to stay by your side for the rest of my life. I want to be yours and I want you to be mine. I want us to be one spirit and soul and body. All I want—and all that I will ever want—is you. And even though I don't have a ring, I would still like to ask you: will you marry me?"
"Hmm let me think about it—HELL YES!" Max threw her arms around me, and she nearly fell off the bed doing so.
"Ow ow ow." She complained as I placed her back into her bed.
"How about we let you rest first before we get married?" I suggested.
"Yeah, I'm good with that." She laughed. "But first…" Grabbing my shirt, she yanked me to her and we kissed.
5 YEARS LATER (MAX POV)
So much has happened in the past five years. For one thing, Jeb was put in jail for a number of crimes and is now stuck in that hell hole for LIFE (haha SUCKER).
Iggy did not become an ophthalmologist (He wasn't accepted because the school thought that he was much too creepy) Instead he now lives in LA and works in the pyrotechnic industry for movies. Nudge and Ella both go to the New School in New York and they are working on "changing fashion as we know it", which scares me—for fashions sake. Gazzy is about to graduate high school and he is interested in going out to California to see if he can join Iggy.
Also, Ari and Angel have been together for a while now (unsurprisingly). During the entirety of my wedding, those two were making nonstop googly eyes at each other.
Oh yeah, the wedding.
Fang and I got married. The wedding and reception were both beautiful, and the "after party" was even better, but I think that I'll spare you the details.
Anyway…Mrs. Martinez is crankier than ever, and it seems nowadays that the only thing that can calm her down are her grandkids. And yes, her grandkids are my kids.
Fang and I have two kids. Our oldest is our daughter, Phoenix, and our youngest is our son, Jaxon. Even though Phoenix is only four and Jaxon is only two, we can already tell that they'll be just as troublesome as their father—I mean their parents. And although they are quite the handful, Fang and I adore because they are our happily ever after….
THE END
