Hello my dears once more. Okay I thought this was going to be two chapters, but apparently not. So this is it, the last chapter, thought there will be an epilogue. But before we get to that I would like to thank all you lovely people who have reviewed this story, I love hearing what people think and getting feed back so thank you.
I would also like to thank those of you who followed and favoured this as well. When I get those emails through they give me great motivation to write more.
I hope you have enjoyed this roller-coaster of a ride, even if I know its kinda depressing. And now I hope you like the happy ending as promised.
Enjoy.

Castiel had taken Anna's car. It was the first one he found and he wanted to see Dean, to explain. Though what he was explaining he wasn't sure. He just knew he needed to see Dean. He drove up the dirt track to Dean's childhood home with a sense of nostalgia. It had been too many years since he had done this. Pulling up outside the house he jumped out of the car and went to knock on the door. But he got no response, looking at the house he noticed that it was in darkness. Where could Dean be? It was then he remembered the dirt track at the back of the house which they used to sneak down to go look at the stars late at night. With that in mind he made his way round the house and set off on foot to the field he remembered.
45 seconds, 44. time to get ready. He had set his phone alarm to go off when the count down came to an end and he would be with his Cas again. Yes he could think that name now, he was so close to being with him once more. With that he turned the gun in his hand, checking it over to make sure all was ready and nothing would go wrong. Dean was in fact concertinaing so hard on checking it he didn't hear the sound of footsteps coming up behind him on the path, Didn't notice when someone came to stand next to the car, watching his movements.
Castiel's eyes adjusted to the dark fast, and as such he saw the car parked at the entrance to the field and he knew he had found his Dean. Walking up he heard his favourite song playing on the stereo, 'Chasing Cars' by snow patrol. He made his way to the front of the car, he knew that Dean would be lying on the hood looking at the stars. It was what he did. Castiel should know, he had watched him do it enough times over the years. But when he came round, he saw that Dean was sitting up, with something in his hand. Not that Castiel cared much about that. All he cared about was that there in front of him was Dean. The love of his life. His heart and his soul. He stood for a second taking him in before he built the courage and spoke.
"Hello Dean." he finally managed to get out.
"Cas… have you come to take me to heaven then?" Dean whispered eyes wide as he looked at the man he loved.
This sentence made Castiel frown. What did Dean mean? It was then that he took note of the gun Dean had in his hand and his eyes widened... no he wouldn't. Dean couldn't. No, he wouldn't let him leave. Not now not ever. Dean Winchester was not pulling that trigger if it was the last thing Castiel did. But he knew that he shouldn't spook him. That gun was loaded Castiel knew. Taking a deep breath he spoke once more, and hoped his words would be enough.
"No Dean. I have come to make sure you stay with me here, on earth." He replied gently, pleading with the other man to put the gun down without saying the words.
"You're dead." Dean replied in an emotionless voice gun still firmly in his grip.
"No, not dead, I was in hospital and had no idea who I was." Castiel replied, his eyes going from the gun to Dean and back again trying to think of what he could say to get him to put it down.
"Cas, I... I don't know how to go on without you." Dean voice broke at the words, and tears started to pour from his eyes.
The sight made pain sear through Castiel and all worry he had about approaching the armed man flew out of the window. All he wanted to do was comfort his friend, his love. With that he moved and pulled Dean into his arms.
"I'm here now Dean. I will always be here for you. I may have forgotten myself, but I never forgot you Dean, never." He said in a harsh whisper tears of his own falling down his face and into the hair of the man in his arms.
"Cas..." Dean whispered in shock when he realised that the man who had his arms around him was real.
"Cas…" He said again letting go of the gun in favour of pulling the other man into his arms as he was being held in his and resting his head against Cas' shoulder as he cried tears of relief.
"Dean. I'm sorry I left you." Castiel whispered into Dean's hair as he pressed a gentle kiss there. He couldn't not. He had almost lost him, he had almost lost his Dean. If he had been just a minute, or a few seconds later. He would have lost everything. But he wasn't, he was here now and Dean was in his arms where he belonged. And he was never ever going to let him go. Dean was his to love and protect, and he would do both to the best of his ability for the rest of his life. He promised he would. He would never leave him, again.
"I love you Cas, please don't leave me again." Dean answered, pulling Castiel closer, as if he was trying to make the two of them fuse together into one.
"I love you too Dean, and I promise I will never leave your side." Castiel replied firmly pulling Dean closer still. He couldn't believe that he had Dean, that Dean had just said the words he had wanted to hear all of his life. But he had, and that was all that mattered.
And as Dean raised his head and set his saltly lips to Castiel's an alarm went off in the background. Not that either of them paid it any attention at all. They were consumed by the feel of each other and their love to pay any attention to the outside world.
