Chapter 8

Melody POV

I do not own Marvel, *sigh*

I was sat in the co-pilots chair, waiting for the impact of the ice cold water, thinking of my beloved Howard. There was no way I was going to catch our date now. I looked over and saw Steve in the pilots chair talking into the microphone, most likely with Peggy. As we hit the water, all I felt was ice cold seeping through the plane walls and Steve came to me, covering me as the water spread up to us.

"We'll be together again, Buck. It's happening now." Steve muttered into my hair and I nodded and placed my hands on his shoulders as we blacked out.

I woke up startled and sprung up in my bed, thinking it was the Plane again until I felt someone behind me, waking up.

"Hey, hey, Melody, it's okay. We're safe." I heard the blonde super solider whisper into my shoulder and he placed his hands on my waist and I leaned back into him.

"It felt so real again." I shook my head sighing.

"We're fine. We've got Bucky back, HYDRA's gone, and nothing bad is going to happen to us. None of us." Steve promised holding onto me.

"You never know what is going to happen. We didn't know we were going to turn into super heroes. We didn't know we were going to crash into the arctic in the plane. We didn't know we were going to wake up nearly seventy years later and mostly of all, we didn't know we were going to have to fight a bunch of Aliens with other super heroes, damn it!" I raised my voice at the end and then covered my mouth with my hand hoping I didn't wake up my brother.

"He's asleep. I can hear his breathing." Steve said and I nodded thankfully. "Come on, you need sleep." He gently laid me back down and pulled me to where I was practically on his chest which I smiled at and nudged my face into it and he wrapped his arms around me before I started to fall back asleep, and no more dreams.

3rd POV

The next morning, Bucky awoke slowly to the sunlight streaming in through the window and he could hear pots moving against one another before he got up and groggily walked towards the kitchen.

"Good morning, or should I say afternoon, Buck." Steve told him as he was grabbing the apple juice from the fridge and poured himself a glass and Melody was at the stove cooking him eggs and she looked over her shoulder to smile at her older brother.

"Shut up, Punk." Bucky said grumpily and grabbed a bottle of water and sat on a stool as Melody finished the scrambled eggs and placed a plate in front of him with a fork and he half-smiled at his little sister.

"Be nice, James." Melody warned before setting another late of scrambled eggs in front of the blonde super solider and he leaned up to give her a peck on the lips which she pulled away quickly before shaking her head and nodding towards her brother which Steve nodded at.

"Come on, Buck, cheer up. You don't have to train today! We can go to Coney Island today!" Steve had a look of excitement on his face which made the Barnes siblings share a smile and look back to the blonde.

"Sweetheart, please calm down now that you're tall enough to ride the Cyclops." Melody said sweetly as she turned around and got a bottle of orange juice from the fridge.

"Was that a short joke?" Steve asked surprised.

"Why do you sound so surprised?" Bucky asked as he put his head on the counter after his sister took his empty plate.

"Yet you're the shorter one than me." Steve raised an eyebrow.

"Who was the taller one before the serum?" Melody shot back and he sighed in defeat and Bucky smiled against the counter. "Buck, go get some clothes on so we can get going. I want to get there early so we mostly won't be recognized. I really don't feel like signing autographs today." She sighed and Bucky went to change into clothes and soon they were in the car with Melody in the back as she was the shortest and having a good day like they were back in the forties. Three best friends, the three musketeers.

That is until, Melody noticed something about Bucky.

"Steve, didn't Buck have a birthmark on the back of his neck?" He nodded to her and they both looked closer. No birthmark. They shared a worried look before Steve smiled and pulled the two along and into the photo booth.

"What are we going to do?" Melody was pacing the second Bucky went to the bathroom.

"We are going to pretend that it's Bucky and that we love him the same." Steve tried to reason with the panicking female but he wasn't getting through to her.

"All this time I thought that was my brother! But it wasn't! My true brother is dead and that's a clone and I just-" She started to cry and Steve quickly pulled her into his chest.

"It's gonna be okay-" The blonde tried to calm down the hysterical woman but it wasn't working.

"No it won't! That isn't my brother, Steve! Probably a HYDRA project!" She was nearly yelling at him now but was containing it. "Steve, my main question is; what happened to the real James Buchanan Barnes?" Then the Clone Bucky appeared and they were set off to go home. I was now on guard the whole time even when we got back to the Tower and I went to the gym to get some of my frustration out.

When did my life become such a havoc wreck?
