Hello, it has been quite a while. I was going over the reviews to give myself confidence in the story again and have to thank all of you for doing such a simple act that brings a smile to my face. Most of you said that their is basically very few Pidge centric stories. This was one of the reasons why I chose Pidge to be the main character (honestly he's my favorite character). A few others may not make sense with the original storyline but I hope you guys will still enjoy my spin off. Also forgive me if some of the characters don't match their personalities you think they have. Thanks again :)
For a moment, no one moved, confusion spreading like a wildfire. Piper stood up calmly and tapped a holographic display, a map of Arus appearing on the screen. It zoomed in onto a space port in an Arus town before zooming in even closer as it connected to the security cameras live feeds.
The Force watched the holographic screen til it stopped, capturing a picture of a large man wearing a broad rim hat and sunglasses. He was decked out in a trench coat and working boots while a briefcase was at his side.
"This man is the reason why our parents are dead as well as our village. He is the one responsible for causing mayhem to our lives for the past ten years"
No one said a word, their minds racing to put the pieces together. Piper waited, calmly returning to sit on the holographic chair and fiddle with Pidge's voltcom.
Keith was the first to gather himself "What do you mean? How is he responsible?"
"He killed them obviously"
"But why?" Allure could already feel her eyes stinging with tears, awaiting the obvious sob story to come.
Piper stared at them with her piercing green eyes, causing a shiver to run down everyone's spine. "Pidge does not come from Balto as you all originally thought. It was a cover up story that the Black Lion created.
"Our people were a humble and old race, who helped guide other civilizations to their peak. Apparently, our ancestors created the foundation morals that run the Voltron Force today and it was because they were worshippers of the Spirit of the Lions" the castle seemed to rumble in recognition of the name and Daniel swore he heard the lions roaring in response from the hanger.
While they had put away their weapons, Keith still seemed skeptical as he looked the female up and down "so that man killed your people?". The girl nodded solemnly in response, a grimace twisting her lip slightly. "Pidge and I are all that remains".
"Was it because you worshiped this Spirit of the Lions?".
"The Spirit is the origin being of the Voltron Force, the mother of the lions. I'm sure you have begun to notice that the lions are not just mere robotic machines".
"Hold up" Lance looked a little put off as he raised his hand, eyebrows arching "you mean to tell me that the lions are actually living creatures?".
"Not fully. They have minds of their owns but they are still made from mechanical parts. The Spirit of the Lions granted them each spirits of varying personalities. That is why they each have their own unique look, attribute and so forth. Look at you as their pilots, you were chosen because your personalities matched their spirits".
Raising a hand she pointed at Lance "the Red Lion. A fiery personality to match your attribute, you who is an ace yet always looked at as second in command. Despite not getting the recognition, you have a keen sixth sense, being the cautious voice of the group as well as the one getting them out of danger more often than not" Lance looked a bit startled by the statement, guarded feelings pushing at the back of his mind.
She didn't give him a chance to recover moving on to Allura "the Blue Lion, the only one female in the group. Your strength and skill are not lower than the rest because of this and you bring a protective motherly instinct. A peacemaker like you keeps the team balanced in their emotions as well as seeing other sides of the story despite how it can sometimes get to your own head".
"The Yellow Lion. One of the oldest of the lions with many battle scars hidden from view. Those that are visible, they make you have an image that you are not. While easily the strongest and toughest, you have a kind heart that cares for those around you deeply" Hunk smiled in appreciation, already starting to warm up to the female.
Everyone wondered what she was to say about Keith, turning to look at the leader who had a blank expression. "The Black Lion, leader of the group. Your are a noble being who wishes for justice and is easily the most gifted of the lions. However with this comes a deep sense of pride that sometimes make you seem unapproachable to others for your unyielding ways".
No one was expecting that and though they didn't say it outloud, they all knew that the words were true. Keith didn't seem offended either, his teeth gritting only slightly before he got over it. "And what of the Green Lion which your brother drives" he was more than willing to get the attention off of him however.
Piper titled her head to the side with a knowing smile but did not push the topic. She just revealed some buried feelings that may be too painful to bear at the moment. "That lion is a force to be reckoned with, not to say that he is better than the rest. There is no one lion who can win on their own. The Green Lion however, is the backbone of the Force.
"A helper in the shadows, someone who fills in the gaps of the groups to make it whole. Unfortunately this goes unnoticed by the majority as he is a timid soul". She sounded wistful as she spoke, some memory coming to mind that made her smile turn sad.
Unconsciously, Allura reached for the girl to place a hand on her arm. Piper jerked, looking ready to attack, but she relaxed quickly at the same time. "Well now that we know, we can work together to help you and your brother" the female sent a mini glare in Keith and Lance's direction, urging them to at least concede for now.
Keith looked like he had something to say but didn't get the chance to say it as Pidge stumbled into the room with a troubled Gorma. When he took a second to look at the set up around him he immediately turned in Piper's direction, a look of anger crossing his features. It was quite a shock to see as he rarely ever got mad, on anything.
A stream of syllables burst from his mouth, leaving the Force confused as Piper stood in anger as well. She fired back in the same strange language that her brother has spoke, a crease beginning to form between her brows.
When it ended both were breathing heavily while everyone else just stared at them in a daze.
A notification ping drew their attention back to reality, Piper turning her head away from her brother as he strided past and pulled up a screen. Pressing a button, a new screen appeared showing a video call but the screen was black.
"This is a coded frequency. Identify yourse-" Keith began from where the rest of them had gathered behind the screen only to be cut off.
"Hello Pidge" the voice was deep, something like a growl ending the sentence that made it sound primal.
The person called out had turned pale, staring at the screen in horror. "No it can't be" his mumbled whispers did not go unheard and the Force were immediately on the alert.
"Who is this" Keith demanded. He and Lance stepped in front of Pidge, trying to shield him from view from the unknown person.
"I see you have managed to wiggle your way into the Voltron Force. Quite a feat considering you are a fake" the voice dripped with venom. Whoever this person was, it seemed they chose to ignore the fact that others could hear, focusing their words solely on Pidge.
"Even you know for a fact the lion does not resonate well with you. You who only just barely get by. How pathetic. You are a failure" each word was punctuated. Like punches to the gut for green eyed man. He looked ready to fall over if Hunk wasn't holding him protectively.
"I will ask you one more time, who is this" now Keith was mad. How dare anyone threaten a member of his team?
The voice paused as if only realizing his victim was not alone. They still only had a dark screen but they could hear shuffling from the other side, as if the person was now uncertain.
"I have no business with those who have done no wrong. However if you wish to protect the half born you will be put on my list as well" it was a double crossed sentence for sure, but not something the Force hadn't dealt with before.
"Don't think we would just leave our little buddy to some maniac" Vance placed a hand on Pidge's shoulder while the others nodded their heads in agreement.
The voice was silent for a while and they were all starting to think the transmission had ended before a loud booming laugh echoed from the screens. It had an odd hiccup in between each breath as if the person couldn't control their breathing well.
"You're all fools for taking the half blood's side" the voice took a deep breath to steady themselves before continuing "very well. Do as you like, this world doesn't need impurities like yourselves" Daniel was feeling more than a little ticked off at the sneering tone of voice, especially when he was talking about their lives as if they were only insects.
A voice suddenly spoke up from behind, reminding them that they now had a plus one "Hunter".
They heard a small intake of breath that was unmistakably the unknown person despite mostly everyone else jumping in shock. "So you really are there" the voice was choking on his words.
Piper didn't seem impressed with the situation, her arms crossed and eyes attempting to burn holes into the screen. "Don't get in my way. These are my children and if you lay so much as a finger on them I will end you" her tone was harsher than anything they heard in the little time they had known her. They could almost see the anger rolling off her body.
"So that is why you made him join the Force. What did you do to get that stubborn lion to agree? Perhaps it had something to do with that nice figure of yours" Pidge shot up quickly, turning to look at his sister with wide eyes which she dutifully ignored.
"No matter, I will terminate any impurities that comes upon your being as always" the transmission ended there.
No one knew what to say, not sure what the last part of the conversation was about in the first place. Pidge was still looking at his sister with wide eyes, his mouth flopping open like a fish out of water. The girl herself seemed put off, choosing to now stare at the high ceiling instead.
Keith stepped towards her cautiously, watching for any warning signs but she remained still. "I think" he began slowly "that there is more to this story then you're telling us".
