Chapter 1 Plus: When there's a villain, there'll always be Heroes!

Welcome back to Sonic Skyline Plus! This is Chapter 1's overhaul. I hope you're ready for this!

Eight years later

With the race track completed, Raceway Island was even busier than before. On this particular day, people flocked to the Skyline Cup Raceway to see Zippy Dash challenge the current Skyline Cup champion Quickster McFlash. Said person, was standing on the top of his car, waving his arms around like a madman. Everyone seemed to love it though, screaming his name out in joy. Zippy sat in his car, resisting the urge to honk his horn at the champion.

"Play it cool. Calmly wind down your window and ask him to get in so we can start." He told himself through gritted teeth. He wound his window down and leaned out.

"Could we start today and not next week please?" Quickster just laughed.

"I guess. I can't help it if they love me!" Zippy let out a tired sigh.

After he finished winding up the crowd, Quickster jumped into his car and turned it on. The two racers revved their cars engines as the lights went from red to yellow then green. The commentator was bouncing in his seat.

"Oh yeah! Here we go baby! This is going to be the race of the century!" His partner nodded in agreement before glancing up.

"Wait. What is-?"

Just as the two cars had crossed the starting line, a large fireball ripped through the track. Both cars braked as quickly as they started before both cars were grabbed by two large robots. Thousands of robots followed and it sent the crowd into a panic. Everyone wanted to get away from them which sadly meant that some people were knocked over. They were quickly scooped up by robots and taken back to the large airship that loomed over the stands and island. The airship's weapons pointed at the island before they opened fire and destroyed the ground around the stands. With nowhere else to go, the island's inhabitancies ran to the abandoned warehouse that sat up on the hill as more robots appeared in the town.

In the airship's control room a large man fiddled with the controls. He grinned wickedly as more prisoners were brought up. He laughed madly.

"This is perfect! Soon the Ivo Empire will soon come to be and nobody can stop me! Not even that Queen Flare can stop me. I will take over Skyline and no-one will be able to stop me!"

Back in the town, a young fox ran from a robot that had tried to capture him. As he did more robots gave chase. He screamed as one robot shot a laser at him. It grazed his arm and was enough to make him trip. The fox tried to get up but a robot pinned him down viciously. The fox cried out in pain. The robot then picked him up and started to fly toward the airship as the other robots dispersed.

As the robot passed an alleyway, there was a loud crash and the fox fell to the ground. He glance around at the destroyed robot parts around him before spotting a pair of blue bare feet. Looking up, his eyes came into contact with his saviours. Whom in which, was a blue hedgehog that looked no older than sixteen. The hedgehog put his hand out to help the fox up. He took it and once back on his feet, dusted himself off.

"Thank you. You saved my life. Why on earth are there robot's attacking this place? There isn't anything of real value here." The hedgehog shrugged.

"No idea. But I think their coming from the airship out there." He pointed up at the airship. "The robots started attacking when that thing showed up." The hedgehog glanced to the fox's grazed arm.

"You better get to the shelter and get that checked out now. I'm no doctor, but that looks really bad." The fox shook his head.

"No way. I'll be fine. I'm going to fight back here. Someone's got to." The hedgehog looked him down.

"And how exactly are you going to do that?" the fox gestured to the robot parts around him.

"I'm pretty sure I can make some sort of blaster from these parts." He gave the hedgehog a grin. "I think you'd be better suited out there." He pointed to the airship before sitting down near the parts. The hedgehog sighed.

"You must be some sort of genius to do that." The fox nodded.

"Go. Get out there and save the people! Then, kick whoever's is attacking our island's butt for everyone, ok?" The hedgehog gave him a confident grin.

"Oh you bet I will!" With that, he took off at blinding speeds toward the track. The hedgehog jumped the fence to the racetrack and took off down the Sky Rush track. His movements grabbed the attention of several robots that were flying overhead. They quickly changed directions and chased the fast moving figure. The hedgehog glanced behind him before clicking his tongue.

"See if you can keep up you bucket of bolts!" with a sudden burst of speed, the hedgehog blasted down the track, leaving the robots in his dust. The hedgehog whooped with joy as he raced around the track, getting closer and closer to the airship. After running through a loop, the hedgehog spotted a jump not too far ahead. Pushing himself to his limits, the hedgehog long jumped of the ramp and into the air. He cursed at himself when he realised he wasn't going to make it.

"Crap, crap, crap! This is- oh hello…" Spotting some flying robots, he directed his fall to land on one. The robot bird squawked at the extra weight before flying around, trying to ditch the weight. The hedgehog held on though. After a brief struggle, he gained control and aimed it at the airship. Using it like a skateboard, the hedgehog flew to the airship before jumping off. The robot made a satisfying pop as it came into contact with it. The hedgehog slid down the side of the ship and landed on a balcony. The hedgehog wiped his forehead in relief.

"That was close. Way too close." Turning, he glared at the reinforced door blocking his way. After tearing through it as if it was paper, the hedgehog began to search the ship. His top priority, was to find the townsfolk and free them. Tracking down the ring leader of these attacks afterwards would be easy. Quickly consulting a conveniently placed map, he took off through the ship like a ball in a pinball machine. He noted where the hanger was as he make his way through the interior of the ship, so that he would have somewhere to send the townsfolk when he freed them.

"Who does this guy think he is? Coming out here and attacking us. I swear the queen will hear about this!"

"Give it a rest will ya? No one can hear us."

The captured townsfolk all sat in a large bare room. Aside from the occasional newly captured falling in through the chute, nothing was really going on in there. The teenage bird glared at the older porcupine.

"Well it's not like we're doing anything to get out of here. Maybe we should work together and fight back!"

"In case you haven't noticed, the door is reinforced and there's no way we're going to get out from our side. It's hopeless."

"Don't give up hope yet. There is still time."

*Bang*

"Oh yeah? And who's going to free us? Our capturer? I don't see that happening anytime soon."

*Bang*

"Getting worked up isn't going to do us any good. Calm down and-"

*BANG*

"Stop that banging! I'm trying to talk sense into this young ruffian." The townsfolk then realised where the banging was coming from. After a moment of silence, the cell door caved in with a loud clang. Everyone's eyes turned to the figure in the doorway, who gave them a smirk.

"The hanger is down the first hallway to your right. Turn left at the end, then turn right straight away. The hanger door is open so I suggest you get in the quickly. Grab the big shuttle and get back to the island." He turned and gave them a wave. "I'm going for the ringleader." And just like that, he was gone. The townsfolk blinked with disbelief before the bird let out a war cry.

"To the hanger!" that was all the townsfolk needed before streaming out the door toward the hanger.

In the control room, the large man slammed his hands down onto the armrest of his chair.

"Curses! How did they get out? No matter. I will just get the robots to re-" He was interrupted by a crash behind him. He sighed before swinging around in his chair.

"What now?" He came face to face with a familiar face he WASN'T expecting to see. Judging by the hedgehog's face, he wasn't either. The two stared at each other for a good three seconds before they both shouted at the same time.

"IT'S YOU!"

And chapter one, rewritten. Not too bad if I do say so myself. Don't forget to let me know if you guys are enjoying the rewrite. Anyway, see you for chapter 2's rewrite!
