Chapter 4 Plus: The Dark Mirror

I'm back! Is anyone enjoying the rewrite of Sonic Skyline? I know I haven't given you a new chapter yet, but still. You guys know I like reviews. It isn't hard to do. Just let me know what you think and if you think I could improve in areas. Anyway, I'm not pressuring you, I just like people's feedback (And the alien Feedback!). On with chapter 4's rewrite!

Two days ago just after his defeat on the Egg Carrier.

Eggman finally gained control of his Eggmobile after the fight. He whirled around just in time to watch his destroyed Egg Carrier fall down into the endless cloud below the islands. He growled to himself.

"Curse you Sonic. I will create the Eggman Empire and you won't stop me. YOU HEAR?" He yelled. There was a beep from the Eggmobile. He checked the fuel meter on it. His eyes nearly popped out of his head. The fuel tank was almost empty. Eggman pressed one more button and he rocketed back to Nightlock Island, his base of operations.

"Come on, come on. Nearly there" He spotted it in the distance and threw the Eggmobile into an overdrive. With the burst of speed, he managed to barely make it into the safety range before the fuel tank depleted. With no engine to keep it afloat, it plummeted down towards his workshop.

"Oh shoot. WHAAAA!" He screamed as he fell down to the workshop. He crashed through the roof and landed right in the middle of the lab. The robots jumped as Eggman fell out.

"Oh man. That's going to hurt in the morning." He stood up and rubbed his backside. He glanced around the room at all the robotic eyes looking at him.

"Well? Did I tell you to stop you dolts? Get back to work!" the robots scattered as Eggman huffed.

"Lousy robots." He muttered to himself as he exited the room.

He made his way to his "Throne Room" and plonked himself down into his throne. A small robot came up to him with a menu. It was quivering in its non-existent boots as it came up to him. Eggman gave it a glare before swiping the menu from it. After a few moments, he slapped it back down onto the small robot's head.

"Just give me my usual. I'm not in the mood to give this much thought." The robot rubbed its head before floating back to the kitchen. Eggman let out a sigh.

"My last five years of careful planning. All down the drain thanks to that wretched hedgehog. Next time, I won't underestimate him. I will take over the world, mark my words. I'll beat you yet Sonic!" He shouted as several robots remerged form the kitchen. Eggman let out a low growl as he began to eat.

"Sounds like you're in a tight spot." Eggman choked on his chicken before spluttering. It certainly wasn't one of his robots voices. It was dark and creepy. He stood up.

"Who's there? I don't take kindly to trespassers on my property. Just ask that last guy who thought he could steal from me. Oh wait…" He glanced to a squirrel robot standing next to him. "You can't!"

A dark chuckle emitted from around the room. It was loud and sinister, making the small robot oil himself all over the floor.

"Is that what you think? That I'm some sort of petty trespasser?" The air became thin before some sort of force began to form just down the hall. As it came closer, a figure began to form. By the time it was standing just metres away from Eggman and his robots, it had taken a full form. It was a black and grey hedgehog. He had no mouth and bright green eyes. It laughed again.

"I am Mephiles. I come from the Dark Mirror. I was sleeping peacefully until one of your robots smashed it. I have dealt with the robot who awoken me. Now I need your help to repair the mirror so I can go home." He stuck out an arm towards Eggman. Eggman gave him a sceptical look.

"And why should I help you? You are currently trespassing and I have no means to make deals with you. Now, my robots will escort you to the door." The robots glanced to the large man, clearly confused. Eggman grinned wickedly. "Oh sorry. I meant the lab. Where I will turn you into a robot! Get him boys!" The robots dropped their kitchen gear and charged at Mephiles. He laughed mechanically, expecting for him to be captured in record time. His face fell when Mephiles simply flicked his hand, destroying the robots around him. Mephiles looked directly to Eggman.

"Well?"

"I…"

"I thought so."

"That power… it's incredible!" Mephiles nodded.

"Indeed. I can lend you my power if you'd like. You can beat this "Sonic" character with a simple command. All you have to do is help me repair the Dark Mirror so that I can go back to my sleep. You'd be a fool if you said no." Eggman rested his head on his hand.

"And if I say no?"

"I will destroy this world, looking for the pieces myself. Nothing will stand in my way. And you will be the cause of the problem." Eggman let out a huff.

"I can't exactly let that happen. Fine. I accept your deal. And no backstabbing, you hear?" Mephiles laughed.

"Very well. I will lend you my power and once the Dark Mirror is repaired, you can use it to take over the world." Eggman grinned.

Excellent. Let's get to work then shall we?" Eggman laughed to himself as he walked to his lab to begin work, his motivation to take over the world rekindled. Mephiles stood in the Throne Room by himself. He let out a chuckle.

"That was almost too easy. He's as gullible as they say. I shall have fun with this..."
