Disclaimer: I don't own digimon or any songs.

Thanks for all of the positive reviews! This is not really focused on couples right now. Also has some Matt and Tk brotherly moments. Don't forget to read and review (R/R). Alright, here's chapter 2!

(REGULAR POV - DIGITAL WORLD)

"Hey guys let's take a break since we've finished destroying their dark keys. I think we can-" Tai was cut by a strong wind.

A mysterious cloaked figure materialized in front of the digi-destined. He snarled at each of them. Tai, Yolei, Tk, Izzy, Sora and Davis were standing near each other. The others were nearby but not as close to them when the figure appeared.

Tai immediately recognized their enemy from the description. "Who are you and what do you want with the digital world?" Tai yelled to the cloaked figure putting together the pieces of information that Gennai had warned them about.

"I am here to destroy the one who poses dormant power within him to destroy me. I'm going to get him, before he can get me and then no one will be able to stop me from taking over this pathetic digital world!" the cloak figure said in his deep voice.

"Well I don't know who that person is, but we can still try and stop you!" Tai yelled to him.

Suddenly the cloaked figure started flying down full speed heading straight for them. Most of them were paralyzed with fear not knowing what was about to happen.

Davis snap out of his shock. Making a quick decision he turned towards his digimon. "Veemon, you ready buddy!" Davis shouted.

"Yeah Davish!" The blue digimon stood in position in front of Davis.

"All right then, Digi-Armor ENERGIZE!" Davis yelled.

"Oh, is it a fight you want?" The figure asked getting closer.

Veemon changed into Flamedramon.

"Go get him Flamedramon!" Davis yelled as Flamedramon jumped up into the air and started attacking the black cloaked figure.

The cloaked figure threw Flamedramon to the ground. "Ha, Ha. You think your petty attacks can defeat me? Ya!" He jumped back in the air preparing for another attack.

The digi-destined assembled their digimon together, having no choice but to help with the fight. As time went on it was looking like a no win situation.

"I have no time for this right now," the cloaked figure said as he knocked all of the digimon back into their training and in training forms.

"But, as a gift for fighting me..." he lifted out both of his hands, "I will take some of your digimon." Suddenly Biyomon appeared in one of his hands and Tentomon appeared in the other.

"No! Tentomon! Biyomon!" Sora and Izzy yell together at the same time. "We'll get you back don't worry you two!" Sora yelled as she, Matt, Izzy and Tai chased after the figure for some distance.

The cloaked figure evilly laughed to himself and then disappeared without a trace.

"Davis, would you THINK something through for once!" Yolei yelled at him.

"Seriously Davis! You can't just keep rushing into fights like that, your going to get us killed!" Tk chastised.

"Well, excuse me Tp! It was the best decision to make at the time or we all might have been killed!" Davis yelled as angry as them. They should be thankful, instead are they placing all the blame on him, he hadn't done anything wrong.

"Whatever Davis, I can't take you right now, you're already on my nerves!" Yolei stormed off from Davis and Tk dragging Kari with her. The others were getting closer to them.

"Davis, because of your rashness, Tentomon and Biyomon have been captured! You should have just waited for the rest of us instead of acting on impulse!" Tk accused.

"Well if you had better home training you would have seen it was either act on impulse or let us get hurt. Would it be better if all of our digimon were captured? You'd be happy then? Or would you go home crying to your mommy like the loser you were raised to be?" Davis mocked callously. "I mean-" Davis started to recant.

"My parents raised me fine! You know nothing about my home life! It's not something someone like you could comprehend."

"I doubt its that difficult Ts."

"Imagine having to constantly hear your parents arguing, always down each others throats."

"You-" Davis started but Tk cut him off.

"Seriously, I...I don't want to hear a thing...until you've had to watch your parents go through a divorce. When you have to be separated from your other sibling who you can no longer live with because your parents selfishly got a d...divorce." Tk stuttered. He looked at Davis with glassy eyes.

Ken was starting to come over to them, noticing the altercation. Tai, Matt, Izzy and Sora were conversing during the exchange.

"Y..you don't know anything about having a hard life! Tk exclaimed caught up in his own pain.

Ken tried to pacify, "Tk maybe you should calm-"

"No, he doesn't get it!" Tk brushed Ken's hand from his shoulder and glared a Davis.

"You can go around, always happy and care free. You don't understand anything, you're still living with both of your parents and your sister!"

Davis felt his anger rise but tried to keep it down. It's not like any of them knew. The digi-destined only knew his parents were together from when they saw them together in elementary school. He hadn't bothered to update them. Ken however knew, which is probably why he kept trying to interrupt the argument. It was fine though, Davis could deal with Tk.

"Jun's in college for your information. So she doesn't live with us. And hasn't it been a while? Maybe you should...get over it. You live with Matt now..." Davis said carelessly.

Tk looked up, the tears formed behind his eyes.

Davis immediately regretted speaking without thinking again.

Tk blinked multiple times to keep his composure. He was hurt by Davis response, blinded by anger he took a swing at Davis hitting him straight in the chest.

Davis coughed and grasp his chest for a quick moment, trying not to gasp in pain. He was surprised by the sudden attack but quickly regained his footing. He should've let it go, but he didn't, aiming a punch at the side of Tk's head. They tried to throw a few more punches when Ken stepped in the line of fire to grab Davis back. Tai ran up to hold onto a seething Tk.

"You probably never had to worry about anything in your life besides playing soccer!" Tk wailed breaking away from Tai as he ran into the forest.

"Davis, what did you say to him?" Matt asked infuriated. He stopped in front of Davis demanding an answer.

Davis gave him a bewildered look. "We were arguing and he took something I said the wrong way. I mean, we weren't fighting anymore than usual." Davis shrugged.

Matt was taken back by Davis nonchalant answer. Even if Tk did take what Davis said the wrong way shouldn't Davis be more apologetic about it? He didn't have time to deal with Davis right now, finding his brother was priority.

"I don't know what you said Davis but maybe you should learn to keep your mouth shut. I'm going to find Tk. After that fight, you both should apologize to each other." Matt gave Davis a dismissive side glance before taking off in the same direction as Tk.

Ken stood beside Davis not knowing what to say. He understood where both of his friends were coming from.

"I want everyone to stay nearby, when they come back we'll go." Tai said.

"Tai," Izzy called while typing on his lap top, "I think I found a way to stop the hooded figure and get our digimon back. Come take a look"

"Good work Izzy." Tai complimented as he and the others went to listen.

Davis avoided them, heading in a different direction. He almost felt worse than when he left the house. More mentally than physically. Had he made everything worse? Davis debated on whether he should have actually stayed home. No, even if the others all hated him, which vaguely he knew they didn't, there was still better than that place. He should have at least told them about the divorce, but he had a hard time bringing personal stuff up, trusting people in general was difficult.

Davis sat under a nearby tree, leaning against it. He took several deep breaths, resisting his own breakdown. Tk's reaction had disturbed him more than he let on. Ken sat beside him quietly gazing at the grassy tree enclosed area.

"Don't think on it too much."

"I'm not mad at him, I wasn't thinking when I mentioned his mother." Davis sighed. "I know I shouldn't of hit him back."

"Bringing up his mother is something you should try not to do." Ken reprimanded lightly.

"Yea, that was pretty dumb." Davis agreed. "I'll...apologize."

Ken gave an encouraging smile. "I guess you've still neglected to tell them about your parents?" Ken said watching his friend.

"Not on purpose, it never really came up."

"Shouldn't you tell them? I mean, its up to you though."

"Eventually, it's not that crucial. I'd rather not think about it myself. I told him to get over it, but I'm having a hard time doing the same myself." Davis dimly grinned.

"Maybe telling him would help you both get along."

Davis laughed, "I think Ts and I will always have our arguments but we get along better than we use to...minus 5 minutes ago."

"It'll get better Dai."

Davis nodded, closing his eyes trying to recall good memories as they waited for the brothers to return.

"Tk, were are you!" Matt yelled out into the forest crunching through leaves as he searched the woods continuously calling out his brother's name. Not far into the search Matt stopped after hearing a faint sound. Listening carefully, he could hear compressed sobs coming from behind a tree to his right.

Matt stepped lightly behind the tall leafy tree and found Tk sitting crouched down with his knees to his chest and his head hidden in his arms. Matt sat down softly beside Tk resting a hand on one of his brother's moderately shaking shoulders.

Startled, Tk lifted his head. He calmed once he met his brothers eyes. Matt saw that Tk realized it was him and wrap both arms around Tk pulling him into a comforting hug, holding onto him for a few moments.

"Tk, you know Davis usually says stupid stuff, what happened this time?" Matt asked Tk releasing him so he could dry his face.

"I...It, wasn't completely Davis's fault, he reminded me of mom and what's happening at home." Tk said to his brother fixing his gaze on the ground.

"Oh, are you still uncomfortable with Dad and his new fiance?" Matt questioned slowly.

"Yeah, he'd been dating her for a year and never told us anything! Now they're getting married. Did he think I would just be ok with this?" Tk sobbed.

"I know it's hard, especially since we're all going to be live together." Matt said. "I'm not use to it either, but dad loves her so we should give it a chance."

Tk stood, balling his fists in frustration. "We've barely spent anytime with the lady!" Tk said angrily.

Matt stood up facing his brother. "Tk, I know it's only been a few months since the engagement, but it still makes us basically family with her."

"But we know nothing about her family...dad said she had kids, we don't even know their names or what they look like."

"Dad also said she had a bad first marriage. As time goes on we'll find out more, lets focus on getting to know her first. We'll eventually have to get along with her and any children she has, so let's put in some effort." Matt encouraged.

"Yeah I know, but I...I mean, I'm still trying to get over mom dying." Tk replied looking up at Matt sadly.

"Tk, I know how you feel." Matt said with compassion and understanding shining in his eyes.

Tk hugged his brother briefly. "I know, I thought he was going to stay single forever, I guess he does have a life too." Tk said laughing dryly, wiping his face again.

Matt held him then gently nudged him back. "It will be alright, you'll see, everything will work out for the best."

"Thanks Matt." Tk said, his face clearing.

"We should get back, I want you and Davis to apologize to each other. If he says anything stupid i'll knock him out myself."

"Yeah, that's just what I need. Thank you but that's not necessary Matt." Tk smiled.

Matt grinned, "True. Let's go resolve this so we all can get on with our lives. There's no need for friends to drag out a fight." Matt said leading them back to where everyone was waiting.

Davis opened his caramel eyes and let them scan the area. He frowned when he saw Matt and Tk coming out of the forest. They were headed his direction, he braced himself.

Matt walked Tk over to Davis. "Tk, I going over to the others, you guys go ahead and work this out." Matt went to where Tai was talking with Izzy and Sora.

"Hi Davis." Tk approached the tree where Davis and Ken were sitting.

"I'll go see what the others are doing." Ken said leaving them to resolve their issue.

Davis stood up. "Hey."

"I'm sorry for over reacting a second ago and blaming everything on you, it wasn't all your fault." Tk apologized.

"Yeah, I'm sorry, about the home thing and I know your mom and dad raised you well. So, sorry about that too." Davis apologized, he knew he had been harsh, especially since Tk's mom had passed a few years ago.

"Thanks, it was more that you reminded me about when I was younger and other...stuff going on right."

Davis looked at him curiously. "Like.."

"Just some stuff that's been stressing me out a bit."

"Oh, because of your mom-" Davis started but Tk cut him off.

"It's nothing to worry about. So we're good, right?"

"Yeah, were good." Davis replied letting go of what he was going to say.

"Cool, let's go over to the others." Tk suggested.

"Sure, I really hate being in these type of situations, it's too...ugh." Davis shuttered playfully.

Tk laughed at his antics. "I know what you mean!"

Tai saw them approaching. "Glad you two worked it out. Everyone, let's go now." Tai directed.

They appeared in the school building as usual. It was getting late and the doors would be closing soon.

"Hey Izzy, Matt and I are going with you. We can go over the strategy we were talking about." Tai said lightly pushing Matt in the direction of Izzy's house.

Matt turned to address his brother knocking Tai's arm off of him. "You'll be fine getting home Tk?"

"Yes, I know the way." Tk said sarcastically.

Matt gave him a warning look.

"Kari, i'll walk you home first since it's on the way." Tk ran towards her escaping his brothers glare.

"Well, i'll see you guys later." Davis gave a dismissive wave as he started to leave. Everyone split from that point, a distance in front of the school to go different directions to their respective locations.

(DAVIS POV)

I lazily strolled home enjoying the cool breeze. I could see the sun starting to go down. The fight with Tk played back in my mind. Sometimes I don't understand how I can be the carrier of courage and friendship. I say stupid stuff without meaning to and I don't even have the courage to tell my friends much of anything. Tk was more honest today. Not that I lied, I just left out certain details. Oh well, this will all go away once I can move out. There's only 6 more years, 4 months, 37 days and 59 seconds until till I'm eighteen. Banking on making it to that age without my father causing too much damage.

When I reached the apartment I let myself in. I didn't hear any noise so my father was probably at work. I took off my shoes and set them near the door.

I was getting kind of hungry so I found some chips in the kitchen and brought them to my bedroom. After locking the door I sat down to do my homework. Might as well get it over with. Glad I don't have to see that Mr. Kakito until after the break. Knowing him, he probably would call my father...and enjoy every minute of it. There's no way I'd let that happen. I pulled out my math book, paper and pencil. If I get this mess out of the way now I'll have less to worry about over the Christmas break. I should do the rest of my homework too. As I was reading through some problems book my eyes started feeling heavy and the words became fuzzy. The last thing I remembered was darkness surrounded me as my head hit the desk.

Dream Flashback

(REGULAR POV)

For the past few months life at home had been tense, more than usual. His parents never stop arguing, it was like living in the middle of a stand off that no one was winning. Today however, the entire family was gathered around the table, attempting to have a family dinner. 9 year old Davis had a huge lively grin on his face, he thought things were looking up. He reached for the water pitcher accidentally knocking his glass off the table. It broke into several pieces as soon as it crashed to the floor.

Davis froze in fear as he saw the rage in his fathers eyes. He had ruined everything.

"Look what you've done you clumsy idiot!" The water from the glass had fallen on his father's lap before the cup hit the ground.

"Are you listening, get down there and clean this mess up now!" Davis's father roughly grabbing him out of the chair until he was on the ground. Davis sat on the floor in shock, his father had never been this short with him.

Davis mother intervened. "It's not that big of a deal, we have more glass. Leave it to you to ruin a family dinner." Davis mother kneeled down beside him, helping him pick up the broken cup.

The memory phased into another.

"Noooo... mom you can't leave, please...Jun!" Little Davis pleaded behind the closed window. "Please, please, don't leave me here alone." Younger Davis voice faded off as the two figures continued in the distance.

Davis father was now with another one of his girls. He doesn't usually bring them back but both of them were drunk out of their minds, not caring that Davis had just walked in. His father stopped, stumbled his way over to Davis grabbing a fist full of his shirt, raising the boy up by the collar.

"Your..r not worth the money I have to spend on you." His father slurred starring him in the eye. "Your nothin' but a burden to..o *hic* me. I don't even know why I put up with you, your not even smart." His father let him go roughly causing Davis to fall to the floor. "Come on Bambi, let's go to my room...can't stand seeing this brat." Davis father said as they stumbled off into his father's bedroom.

Young Davis was around 10 years old at the time, he went into his room and huddled in a corner crying to himself.

The memory changed again.

A dark figure burst into his room, looking down at Davis slapping him hard across the face. As long as you live in my house, it's my way or no way, and don't you ever forget that. The figure demanded then stalked out of the room leaving the door open.

Young Davis had forgotten to lock the door to his room that time. Young Davis had notice the changes in his father's behavior over the past several months since the divorce. Things were never going well at work and he always came home in a bad mood. Little Davis shakily got up and locked the door to his room, he silently promised to always lock his door from now on. He laid down on his bed praying that someday everything would be ok again.

(DAVIS POV)

I startled awake to the sound of knocking on my door. Must have nodded off, I tilted my head to stretch my neck.

There was another knock.

"Daisuke." A gruff voice said. "Get up and pack a bag. Your going to your mother's for the break."

"Ok, I'm packing it now." I answered immediately closing my textbooks and placing them in my backpack. I'll bring my light suitcase. Maybe I should leave some stuff there, if she has me to stay over again. I picked up my school backpack, may as well finish my homework while I'm there. I won't have time when I come back.

I'm glad that my mom wants me to visit, or well is forcing me, it's strange. I haven't gone to my mom's house in almost year. I visited here and there but they don't usually force the weekends on me. With things the way they are, it was easier not to go. When dad mentioned she was dating someone I thought it'd be best not to come around as often. Why get too involved? She could have a better life, last thing she needs is me interrupting or dad coming around more to drop me off. He's the last person she'd want to see, they had a pretty bad divorce.

I finished packing my clothes and other things I might need twisted my door knob to step into the hall.

"Good your ready. Let's go." My father picked his keys up from the counter. I followed quietly. It was rare that he drove me anywhere these days. Today was one of his sober days, I couldn't smell alcohol on him. I like it when he's in his right mind.

I looked at my phone, the time was 5:10 pm. The drive takes about 15 minutes to get to my mom's house. Thankfully she lives on a much nicer side of town. She use to live 2 hours away when Jun and her first moved. I guess with Jun in college mom and her new fiance decided to move, at least its closer. Less awkward time in the car.

"Why did mom want me to come over?" I asked breaking the silence.

"...I have some business to attend to, I won't be in town. She agreed to take you...she wanted you to visit anyway and it gives me a break from you."

"Oh, ok."

It was silent again, my father turned onto the street of my mom's home. I was glad for some blessed reason he hadn't gotten drunk today, that would've been hard to explain. I wonder what we will do today, I haven't seen her in over 6 months.

"Diane, were he're." My father said quickly then closed the phone not waiting for a response.

As we got closer I saw my mother standing outside waiting for us. I'm happy to see her, she looks well. She knows basically nothing about my home life except for what she sees, and I plan to keep it that way. When my mother or anyone else is around, I try not to show a sign that something could be going on, that we were the perfect family, the way it should be. So putting up facades for people became part of my daily life, maybe too much.

I closed the car door after stepping out. "Thanks for taking me dad, See ya!" I said smiling and waving like the carefree boy everyone knew me to be as my father drove off. I despise that man so much, but I would never wish death upon him.

I walked over to my mom and gave her a hug. She was far better off than my father was. The place were my mom lives is called Obadia Estates. It had tall palm trees in front of it and in the middle of the trees had a huge water fountain. Sometimes I really wish I could live with mom forever instead of just two weeks. I always cherish the time I have with my mother, it keeps me away from the harsh beatings that my father's been giving me ever since they got a divorce.

My mom released me from the hug. "Davis, come on sweety let's get inside, I know it must be freezing out there." My mom said jerking me out of my thoughtful state. I looked up and saw her smiling. She opened the door for us.

"I'm coming mom." I said following her inside the building.

I took my luggage and followed her into the apartment complex. We walked through the lobby room area and took the elevator to the fourth floor. I was looking through the glass part of the elevator and noticed it had a cool view of the lobby as we went up. You could see people walking and carrying on with conversations. The elevator was designed in a semi circle and you could see it traveling up the floors from the huge lobby room.

I heard the elevator door ring and knew it was time for us to get off. We stepped through the metal doors and made our way to her apartment. Stopping down the hall we finally made it to my mom's apartment.

"So, how have you been sweety?" My mother asked closing the door.

"I've been good mom." I lied wishing I could tell her the truth.

"That's great honey. Those bags look heavy, why don't we set that luggage in your room first and then we can catch up." My mom suggested as she lead him upstairs.

(DAVIS POV)

I followed my mom up the light beige colored stairs to my room. She let me go in first. The room seemed like it was ten times bigger than the one at my father's house.

"Go ahead and put your stuff away. Use the first two drawers and if you want to leave some clothing that's fine with me. I'll be back soon." My mom said picking up her ringing phone.

I sat my back pack on the floor near my bed.

"Hi, oh great! He just got here-" She answered closing the door as she continued talking, he couldn't hear the conversation anymore.

I took my stuff out of the suit case and neatly laid the clothes in the dresser draws she told me to use. I wonder what the other two are for? I'll leave some of my clothes here, just because I know I'll be coming back now. This room wasn't decorated with posters like the one at my dad's house because I'm not here that often. I carried my now empty suit case into my walk in closet then closed the door.

"Davis?" There was a knock on the door.

"Yes?" I opened up the bedroom door to let her in.

"I just wanted to let you know your sister won't be over for the break, she's going with her friends on vacation.

"Ok." She had been gone more often than not anyway.

"And before I forget, I'll be expecting guests to arrive soon." My mom smiled.

"Guest? Who?" I ask puzzled, why would my mom be expecting guests?

"Davis, your too cute! They're not completely guest, I just need to introduce you." she said kissing me on the forehead. "It's a surprise, I've been wanting to introduce you for a while now and what a great time this is to get together!"

She sits on the bed and I sit in the desk chair moving it near the bed.

"So, how have things been? How is school?" She asked.

"Home's fine, school's been ok. But this teacher there, he gets on my nerves. I just missed a few homework assignments...I planned on doing them though!" I add quickly.

She smiles. "The teacher's doing his best. I'm glad your teacher is helping you."

"I didn't said that-"

"How have your friends been? You can invite them over sometime. It's been years." She skillfully cuts me off.

"They're fine, I've meet a lot more lately." I embellish a bit. "How have you been?" I ask.

"I couldn't be better, it's been so long. I know you don't like shifting between two homes so I left it for a while, but I missed you."

I saw her grin at me. "I missed you too."

Then she messed with my hair and I took a few steps away laughing.

"So, who am I meeting?" I try again.

"You will find out when they arrive for dinner, right now you can settle in and rest some until they get here, you look kind of tired."

I followed her to the door. "Okay mom I'll do that, see you later." I watched her disappear from my sight. I looked across the hall and noticed the door had a sign on it. Why was that there? Jun doesn't put stuff like that up.

It doesn't matter, I'll ask my mom about it later. I closed the door, relieved on not having to worry about locking it. I laid down on my bed and reached into my pocket to grab my phone. After placing the earphones in I crawled under the warm covers. I'd just rest my eyes for a bit. In the back of my mind I wonder who her guests are and what she wants to tell me? It better be a good surprise was my last thought before slipping into a peaceful sleep.

That's chapter 2, I've been working on chapter three. I hope you all liked it, remember to R/R. (Revised)
