PROMPTS ARE CLOSED!

This prompt is from TheaterDiva92 on ao3 - Tony forgets Peter wanted to introduce him to Ned and cancels on them multiple times. (Due to accords meetings, the Rouges, and SI meetings Pepper won't let him out of) At first Ned thinks its okay but after Tony only canceling the days he was going to meet him and not on Peter's regular lab days he gets upset and starts to think Tony doesnt want to meet him. Peter, notices too and starts to ghost Tony which clues Tony in to something being wrong but doesn't know why. Tony tries to pick up Peter from school but Peter refuses to leave Ned's side and walks away from the car. Tony ends up calling May to get to the bottom of things only for her to ask how did meeting Ned go because the boys were so excited for Ned to finally meet Tony only for them to stop talking about it completely. Tony now feels like an ass and goes above and beyond to make it up to them.

I hope you enjoy and apologies for any mistakes.

Some days, on days where storm clouds swirled around Tony thoughts and the weight of the world seemed too heavy to hold on to anymore, he wished that he had never made it out of that cave. Those days didn't come nearly as often anymore but ever since the Accords the storm clouds had been brewing.

Tony was stuck on yet another Saturday with a group of officials in neatly pressed suits, going over the same bullshit for the one thousandth time. A headache was pressing at Tony's temples, he was hungry and if he heard Steve Rogers name one more time, he may just jump out the window.

"Ladies, gentleman," Tony said, cutting the man with the unfortunate hair piece off. "I'm afraid we will have to call this a day. I have pressing matters to attend to."

"Mr. Stark, we are in the middle of discussing the Rogues –"

"And as much as I would love to continue that," Tony drawled. He really wouldn't. "Like I said, I have somewhere else to be. Excuse me."

Tony stood and strode from the room before anyone could stop him. As he left the room, he loosened the tie around his neck, his jaw clenching tightly. He made his way out of the building (because no way was Tony hosting these meetings at one of his buildings) and towards the car that Happy was leaning against.

As soon as Happy saw him, he was opening the car door and Tony slid inside. Happy shut the door behind him and then jogged around to the driver's seat. As Happy joined the traffic and the building fell away behind them, Tony felt some of the tension he had been holding slowly fade away.

"You good, boss?" Happy asked.

"I'll be better with a drink," Tony muttered. He scrubbed a hand down his face and pushed those thoughts away. "But let's get a cheeseburger instead."

Happy flashed him a small grin in the rear-view mirror. "You got it."

Tony pulled his phone out of his pocket, opening his messaging app. He clicked on his message thread with Peter Parker and quickly typed out a message.

Kid, want to grab a burger with me right now? – TS

The thought of spending the afternoon with his favourite kid made his jaw relax and he sunk into the leather seats. He smiled when his phone pinged with a notification, but the smile quickly slid off his face as he read Peter's message.

Sorry, can't -PP

Tony let out a little huff of frustration. He wasn't sure why, but Peter Parker was pulling away from him. He hadn't been by the tower in weeks, cancelling any lab session that Tony had tried to set up and barely replied to his messages now days. It was like Peter had become a ghost.

Reviewing Karen's footage, Tony knew that Peter wasn't in trouble. He was out patrolling as normal, hadn't been badly injured and was keeping Queens safe like usual. Spiderman wasn't dealing with anything which meant that the problem laid with Tony. But Tony had no idea what he had done to make Peter mad at him.

Tony half wondered if it was the work he was doing on the accords. But before Peter had started ghosting Tony, they had discussed it. Peter understood them a lot more than Tony thought he had, and he had even agreed to them. Had Peter changed his mind? Was there something else that Tony was doing that was keeping Peter away?

"Happy, forget the cheeseburger," Tony ordered. "Head to Queens instead."

Tony's thoughts churned all the way up until he was knocking on the door of the Parker apartment. After a beat, the door opened, revealing May. She looked Tony up and down, an unimpressed look on her face.

"I don't know what I did," Tony said, looking at May pleadingly.

"Ned Leeds," May said simply.

Tony inhaled sharply, his heart sinking in his chest. "Shit."

May held open the door, gesturing for Tony to come in. Tony passed by her like a ghost. He moved to the table on auto pilot, sinking down into a char. May closed the door before she crossed the room and took a seat next to Tony. He looked up, looking directly in May's eyes.

"Did you honestly just forget that you agreed to meet Ned?" May asked.

"Does it matter?" Tony scoffed. "I'm still the asshole who forgot he agreed to meet Peter's best friend. How many times have they tried to set it up and I haven't been available?"

"You're up to four now," May said.

Tony groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Look at that. Said I didn't want to be my dad and yet I feel straight into his footsteps. I'm an idiot."

"You're human," May said. "And a parent."

Tony looked at May sharply.

She gave Tony a small smile. "You're going to mistakes. Ben and I sure did when Peter was growing up and you're a new dad, late to the game but still in it."

Tony swallowed sharply. "I – uh – I'm –"

"You are," May interrupted his stuttering. "I think you know that you are too. You love my nephew, Tony and while I had some strong…dislike towards you at the beginning, I can see how much you do."

"I do," Tony said quietly but truthfully. "More than I thought was possible."

"Yeah," May chuckled. "He has that effect on people."

"Is there any way I can fix this?" Tony asked. He swallowed around the pain at the thought of not being able to fix this with Peter. That he may have lost this kid forever and that would be the worst thing that had ever happened to Tony.

"Peter is mad at you, but he also loves you too," May smiled. "You are the king of grand gestures, Tony. So, show him how much you love him."

For the first time since entering the apartment, the storm clouds started to lift.

One minute the school cafeteria was loud and filled with indistinguishable chatter and then the next it's pattering out into a still silence. No one dared to move. No one was even breathing.

"Peter! Ned!"

Peter Parker could only stare with his jaw dropped opened as Tony Stark smiled at them. Tony bent his head and whispered something to a teacher that had escorted him in before he crossed the room to them. Peter watched him, his mind spinning. To say that he was surprised to see Tony at his school was an understatement.

Ever since Peter had asked Tony if he would meet his best friend, his guy-in-the-chair, Tony had been blowing him off. After the first couple of time that Tony bailed on meeting Ned, Peter had gotten the message – Tony didn't want to meet Ned. He didn't want to get any closer to Peter.

Peter had thought that maybe Tony had liked being a paternal figure towards him. He acted that way, he seemed to enjoy Peter's company. Or so Peter had thought. Embarrassed, Peter wondered where he had gotten it all wrong.

Except, Tony Stark is crossing his school cafeteria, in front of his entire class, calling his and Ned's name.

"Oh my god," Ned whispered, staring at Tony with wide eyes.

Tony slid into the bench beside Ned, sliding his sunglasses from his face and tucking them into his pocket. He leaned his elbows on the table, looking between Ned and Peter.

"Hey, hope you don't mind me crashing your lunch," Tony said, smiling easily.

"It's fine," Ned gushed out. "You can always crash our lunch."

Peter shook himself out of his numb stupor. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to say sorry," Tony said, looking between Peter and Ned. "I know that I have been busy lately and that's no excuse for me blowing you off. You and Ned are far more fun than the boring meetings that I have been stuck in and you deserve far better from me."

Peter's heart tripped in his chest.

"I'm sorry, boys. And I would like to make it up to you," Tony said. "If you will let me?"

Peter looked at Ned.

His best friend was looking back, his eyes wide and an encouraging look on his face. Peter hesitated and Ned frowned back at him. He pulled out his phone, fingers typing quickly along the screen.

Peter phone dinged.

Dude! He's reaching out! He showed up at school in front of everyone! – NL

Peter quickly typed back a reply.

But he's been blowing us off Ned -PP

But he's here now. He could have asked us this privately – NL

Ned gave Peter an encouraging smile.

Nerd 1, 2 & 3:

You two losers know that we can see you texting right?

Peter and Ned both snapped their gaze to MJ who was holding her phone, giving them both a deadpanned stare.

Slowly, Ned and Peter turned to look at Tony. Peter grinned at the man sheepishly, taking in the amused expression on his face.

"Don't mind me," Tony said. "Take all the time you need to discuss it. I know I haven't exactly been showing up lately and I understand if you need time to think about it."

Peter chewed his lip slowly. The thing was, he had missed Tony desperately and while Peter had been hurt, he could see that Tony was being genuine and he felt bad about how he had been acting.

"You really want to hang out with us?" Peter asked.

"Yeah, kid. I really do," Tony smiled. "I've missed my kid."

"Missed you too," Peter smiled, heart galloping in his chest. "And yeah. You can make it up to us."

"Yeah!" Ned agreed. "Totally! Can we ride in the Ironman suit?"

Tony barked a laugh. "Sure, Ned. I think I can set that up for you."

Ned let out a whoop and the cafeteria exploded into noise.

Peter let out a laugh, shaking his head as Tony winked at him. He had missed this, and Peter had no doubt now that Tony wanted him in his life. Ned was right, Tony could have done this in private. But he did it in front of his whole class, where word would spread like a wildfire. He had just declared that Peter Parker was his kid.

Happy reading :D
