Chapter 27: One Friend To Another
Five Months Ago…
During that day at Saint James High School, Eddie Wu who's been wearing his grey jack with its logo and brown backpack on his back is getting his stuff out of his locker. Once he close the locker. He pulled out his phone and start texting to his sister, Marcy that he should be coming home soon. After he send that text, he heard an announcer.
"Eddie Wu, please report the principle's office."
Eddie was a bit surprise for that. Later on at the principle's office, Eddie came in once he set his backpack down and took a seat and stares at the principle that was smiling.
"Is something wrong, sir?" Eddie asked.
"There's nothing's wrong, but I called you here about your report."
"What is it, then?"
"Due to your great success by taking tests and schoolwork, I realized that how great gifted student that you turned out to be. I am giving you a great success."
"Really?"
"Yep, you are going to attend college at "The University of California"."
The principle hands out the paper to Eddie once he looked at it. He was fully surprised. He couldn't believe that he's going to attend college. Eddie was smiling.
"Wow! I don't know what to say, but... thank you." said Eddie smiling.
"No problem, Eddie."
Later on, Eddie exit the office smiling.
"WHOOOOO! I'M GOING TO COLLEGE!" Eddie cheers and ran down the hallway as he pass by some students that were smiling at them.
Then it show his girlfriend that has same ages as Eddie and she's wearing her school uniform, but with red skirt. Her hair is orange or ginger for short and has freckles on her face. She take her books out and close the locker door until she notice that Eddie approach.
"Eddie? What's with the smile?"
"Bailey, good new! I got into college!" Eddie answered.
"What?! No way! I got applied to college too!" said Bailey smiling.
"Wow! That's awesome!"
"Guess we're both going to college together, huh?"
"Yeah, just and me." replied Eddie when blushing.
Both Eddie and Bailey have been friends since they were kids back in elementary school. They used to hangout a lot with their friends. Bailey also come over to babysit Eddie's little sister while his parents are on their date. Eddie was there to help look after his little sister. For the years, their friendship become stronger and by the time when they are 13, they started to fall in love and became couples. And today, they are attending to college together.
"So, wanna go hangout with me?" Bailey asked.
"Yeah, definitely."
Suddenly, he felt his phone vibrate. He pulled out and looked at his phone saying 'Eddie, come home. We need to talk.' when Eddie was surprised that his dad texted him. He took a glance at Bailey.
"Sorry, Bailey. I can't go with you right now. My dad told me to come home."
"Oh, that's alright. You're more welcome to come over whenever you're ready."
"Thanks, Bails."
"(giggles) Okay, tiger. Tell Marcy I said hi."
"Will do!" Eddie waved.
He exit the building leaving Bailey waved her hands at her boyfriend. It won't be long until he reach home by the time he parked his car that his dad got him for his birthday. He got out from the car and walked to the door, but he was curious that the door was open. Once he got inside, he walked into the living room where his parents are sitting, but looked disappointed when his father facepalmed sitting on the chair while his mother pace around back and forth.
His father is wearing his glasses, light gray polo shirt, dark olive tie, black greyish pants, and his shoes while his mother is wearing her brown earrings, olive sweater with green button with paw print, light blue jeans, and green sneakers. Eddie was all confused at first.
"Mom? Dad? You okay?" Eddie asked.
They looked up at their son when they noticed that he's home.
"Eddie? Didn't realize that you were home late." said his father.
"Yeah, sorry about that. Stuck in the traffic." Eddie apologize. "What's up?"
His parents looked at each other with concerned and looked back him.
"Son, we need to talk."
"Alright, I'm listening."
"(sigh) Before Marcy ran off, there's something that you should be aware of."
"Wait, what do you mean ran off?"
"Eddie, your father got a new job in a different state." His mother answered.
"What?" Eddie raised his eyebrows.
"Yes, we're moving out from Los Angeles." said Mr. Wu.
Eddie was all in the mixed of confused and stunned.
"But what about my friends? I got applied to college here." said Eddie.
"Well, that's great son, but unfortunately, we have to move out of the state due to populations."
"But what about Bailey? I can't leave her here!"
"Son, I know how much you love her, but try to understand this. You can make some new friends when we get there."
"What about Marcy? She has her friends too."
It was silence for that moment when he mentioned it. They looked down in shame.
"Dad? Where's Marcy?" Eddie asked suspicious.
"Honey, Marcy ran off." Mrs. Wu answered.
"What?"
"She ran off. She didn't take that well when she heard the news about the moving day."
When Eddie walked closer, but when he stepped on something like a glass. He looked down and see that the picture frame fell that the glass was broken. He picked up the photo from the frame and looked at the photo of himself with Marcy and their parents. He looked at Marcy's backpack that was left by the coffee table. He looked at his dad who looked ashamed.
"Dad? What did you do?" Eddie asked, but sternly.
He looked at his son who was sternly. He knew that this could be worse.
"We had an argument. Marcy didn't take it too well when she's heartbroken." His father answered.
Eddie pulled out his phone to call his sister. He waited patiently for reply, but he was listening that the phone call was busy. He started to text her saying 'Marcy? Where did you go? Where are you? Please call me back.' and then send a message. He looked at his father sternly.
"When did you last seen her?" Eddie asked.
"By the time you got home." Mr. Wu answered.
"We will discuss this later." said Eddie when he's about to exit the house.
"Where are you going?" Mrs. Wu asked.
"I'm going to find her. She could get hurt if anything happens to her. That's what siblings do." replied Eddie.
He left the house leaving his parents worried more often. He got inside of his car as he turn on the engine and drove away from his house. For hours, he's been driving all over the city by searching for his sister.
She was last seen from his parents house when ran off. How could they do this? His entire life has change when it's moving day. He can't leave everything behind. What would he say to Bailey? He shake his head off to stay focus by searching for Marcy.
Then all of sudden, he slowed down his vehicle when the police car was parked by the thrift store. He got out from the vehicle and walked inside seeing an officer talking to the elder that's behind the cashier.
"Excuse me? What's going on?"
"It was reported that those three girls has stole the music box." The police answered.
"Music box?"
"We picked up from the security footage and it turns out that those girls are from school, but we couldn't get close enough to see their face."
Eddie was shocked. His mind thought that the music box was stolen. Could this be his sister and her friends? He couldn't tell that it was one of the girl whose hanging out with Marcy. He left the store and got back inside the vehicle. He tried to call his sister again, but she's not responding. Instead, he's sending a voicemail.
"Marcy, it's Eddie. Where are you? Your parents are worried sick. What ever you been doing, please call me back. I want to make sure that you're okay. Please, call me so that we can talk."
When it's getting close at nighttime, he's been searching for an hour and still no sign of her. But all of sudden, there was a blue bright that just emerged no farther away when he noticed. He looked out the window and see the light shines out to the sky. Then there was something like a heatwave with some sparks allover the wires and streetlights.
Eddie was shocked and awe for that moment, but then he turn his head back at the bright light that just disappeared. His instinct took over and start driving to the spot where it comes from. Once he parked by the playground, he got out from the car and ran straight to the playground where his sister used to hangout with her friends, but the girls are not there. It was all just empty. Eddie has no idea what's going when he started to callout names.
"Marcy! Anne! Sasha!"
Eddie felt when he stepped on something. He looked down and picked up one his sister's green hairclip. Once he looked closer, he started to get worried. Sooner than realize when something is not right. He ran back to his car and drove away fast.
Later on, he parked outside at the Boonchuys residence and he got out from the vehicle. He ran to the doorstep and start knocking on the door until the door answers showing Oum when noticing that Eddie was here.
"Eddie?"
"Mrs. Boonchuy. We got an emergency here."
"Is it my daughter?" Oum asked when worries a bit.
"Yes, but not only that, my sister is with her and Sasha. They're gone."
"Wh...what."
"Anne is gone. And Sasha and Marcy. They're all gone."
"How do you know that?"
Eddie didn't reply, but take his sister's hairclip out from his pocket showing this to Anne's mom. She gasp covering her mouth.
"Ma'am, I'm afraid they just vanished."
She gasps softly, then her tears started to swell. Eddie gave her a big hug to comfort the women when she cries silently. Eddie felt that he should've been there for his sister and her friends. If anything happens to her, he'll never forgive himself.
Five Months Later...
Meanwhile in Newtopia, where the castle is still floating when flying. While the Frog-Bots are patrolling the city when its empty, they took no notice when there was a small newt that looks like that outfit when Marcy is wearing, but without an armor plate. The newt snuck inside the castle by going through the window so no one gets caught.
Later on at they hallway, the newt ran upstairs to the door that leads to the throne room. Once the newt open the door gently, the newt gently close the door and stares at the column that has the music box in front of the huge throne. Once the cloak hood was removed, it turns out that it was a little girl with green skin, white skin on the bottom of the mouth, and her hair is olive.
She walked closer to see the music box until she approach. She looked closely at the box. She has never seen that box in this close before. She's been studying about the music box since she read it about the book. Be fore she touched it, she heard something is coming. She has to hide behind the throne so that she won't get caught until King Andrias arrived with one of the Frog-Bot.
"Should I send another Cloak-Bot to attack?"
"That won't be unnecessary. Which he obviously fails to eliminate Anne by the time when bomb explodes. It's not that Anne I should be worried about, it's that book when it's out of stock. I asked for three, not two! Its useless! And I resume that Anne might have warned everyone on Earth."
The newt girl was surprised that Anne has survived from the Cloak-Bot, but the question is why would he send the robot to eliminate Anne? Ever since that day when they beat the Toads, the castle started to go up when people panic and she's been stranded with them. She was worried about her friends and her family.
"But enough of that. Make sure that these Toads should get back in line, but if they tried to resist, you know what to do."
"Affirmative."
The Cloak-Bot left the throne when flying out from the balcony. The king took a glance at the box where it stood still. The newt girl hides herself in case he spotted her, but she can hear him talking. Unaware, he was talking to himself, but what nobody noticed that he's talking to something or someone.
"It seems that she may have survived, but not for long. Once our army will grow, none shall stand. Not even Sasha can stop us."
King Andrias walked out as he exit through the door. The little newt girl came out of hiding and walked closer to the box. She sighed in relieved.
"Kettle Lilypad!"
The girl gasps when turns around at Lady Olivia who's been there all along. She has frighten her when startled.
"Miss Olivia?"
"What in Amphibia are you doing?" Olivia scolded, but concerned. "You shouldn't be here."
"Sorry miss, but there's something I have to do first."
"Like what, exactly?" Olivia asked.
"Well, I was thinking if could... you know..." Kettle paused when nervous.
Olivia looked at the box and then look back at the girl with mixture of shocking and sterned.
"Under no circumstances, I will not let you take the box. Even if you did, you could get hurt or worse!" said Olivia
"I wasn't planning to take it." replied Kettle.
"Then what were you doing?"
"I'm going through the portal."
"You what?!" Olivia shocked.
"Olivia, please! I have to warn Anne."
"But, you're just a child! You'll never get reach to Earth."
"I have to try! It's the only just to save my family!"
Olivia felt shocked when Sammie mentioned about the girl's parents and her adopted brother.
"(sigh) They were captured by the robots when they resist. They help me escape."
"I... I have no idea. I am so sorry." Olivia apologize.
Kettle looked down at the floor sadly. Olivia knew that Andrias has gone too far since showing his true color once he got the music box. She exhaled when taking her breath and sighed.
"Alright, I'm going to let you go through the portal, but you promise me that you won't get hurt." said Olivia.
Kettle perks up when she sadly smiles. She presses the pink gem as she figures out how to pen the portal until when she opens the music box by the time when the portal opens.
"Ooh!" Kettle looked amazed.
"Kettle, listen to me carefully. I need you to understand if anything goes wrong. I cannot risked you for getting injured or even worse. I'm saying this is because Earth is really dangerous. So don't get caught, find Anne, and get help as soon as you can. Do you understand?" Olivia instructed her just as Kettle nodded. "Good. I'll close the box once you get through."
Then she walked closer to the portal, but Olivia needs to tell her one thing.
"And Kettle?" She turns around at Olivia who was smiling sadly. "Please be careful."
"I will, and thank you." said Kettle.
"You're welcome." replied Olivia.
Kettle turns her face back at the portal and walked through the portal. Then Olivia close the box until the portal is gone. She dropped her smiles and started to pray for the girl's safety.
"Please be safe.
Meanwhile back on Earth, when the portal magically brought Kettle to the playground and looked around the area amazed. She looked up the sky where the blimp flew pass. Pigeons flew pass over her.
"Whoa!"
She know what she needs to do. She put on her hoodie to cover her face ran off to find Anne. Her mission is find Anne and send a warning that her people were put into slaves. She cannot let the tyrannical ruler to get away with this. Once she pass by the board, she halted and walk backwards, and then she looked at some papers liker flyers everywhere.
She noticed something on the board and looked carefully. It shows two papers of pictures of Marcy and Sasha with some words says 'MISSING'. She felt pretty bad at them. The all of sudden when she didn't even heard someone approaching.
"Excuse me?"
"AAAHHH!"
She jump scares when jumped and swing her small tail at the teen's face covering his cheek.
"OOF!"
She gasps in shock when covering her mouth.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! Are you okay?!" Kettle asked when panicked a bit.
"Ow! Man that hurts. That's a pretty good hit, but you should never pick a fight."
"No, really, I'm-" She pause for a moment when she looked up at Eddie whose rubbing his face. She start to realize that it was Marcy's older brother. "Wait, you're Marcy's brother?!"
"Yeah, and who the heck are you?" Eddie asked.
She took off her hoodie to reveal her face and then her tail is moving.
"You're a lizard?" Eddie was stunned.
"Actually, I'm a newt. My name is Kettle and I'm your sister's friend." Kettle corrected him.
"Wait, you know Marcy?!" Eddie baffled.
"That's right, she came to Newtopia when I became friends with her." Kettle answered.
"Where is she?! Do you know where she is?!" Eddie asked when anxious.
"Well, about that. Marcy might be stuck behind in another world where I come from?" She fiddled with her fingers.
"Wait, what?"
"I'll tell you on the way. I need to find Anne as soon as possible."
"Anne?"
"Haven't you heard? She came back to Earth with the Plantars."
Eddie was all confused at first. He pulled out his phone and start typing on the internet to search the name and looked it up. He looked everywhere, but then there was video clip when he taps it. The app was switch from the web to video app and then it shows the footage of Anne and her best friend driving in the food truck at the skate park.
"Are you kidding me?! All this time, Anne's back and she didn't even tell me?!" Eddie shocked.
"Uh, is it too late to start running?" Kettle asked, thinking if he's really mad, but he didn't.
He looked at her who was nervous at first. If the newt was telling the truth, then he has to know everything since Kettle is really Marcy's friend.
"Alright, I'm gonna have to take you with me, but only because that my sister is stranded in another world." said Eddie.
"Really?" Kettle asked.
"Of course, but before we begin, I need to stop by at my place."
"Where are we going?"
"A friend."
Few minutes later when Eddie parked his car at the apartment. They both got out from the car and take the stairs to top row. For this side of the city, the apartment only has three rows. Once they reach upstairs, he knocked on the door and waited patiently until the door answers where it shows Bailey wearing her casual clothes, red tank top shirt, light olive green shorts, and a blue tennis shoes.
"Eddie? Back so soon?" Bailey asked.
"Yeah, there's someone who likes to speak us." replied Eddie.
Bailey looked down at the girl when she remove her cloak revealing her face smiling and showing her little tail. Bailey was stunned for her appearance and looks up at Eddie.
"She'll explain everything."
Later on, Kettle has been putting up everything by drawing or write anything about her story. Once she is done drawing circle around the box, she turn her heads at Eddie and Bailey that's been sitting on the couch.
"Okay, now where was I?" Kettle asked.
"Toad Rebellion?" said Bailey.
"Right. Once Anne has defeat Sasha, Marcy and Olivia has rescued the king and assembling the guards to take out some toads. After the fight is over, I gave Marcy a hug and bid goodbye. She said that we'll see each other again."
"Aw, that's sweet of you."
"Thanks, but however things didn't work out so well."
"What do you mean?" Eddie asked.
"Once they got inside to the castle and all of sudden when there's a big earthquake which turns out the castle started go high up and went flying. And that's not all, the robots are here, replace all of the newt guards, and enslave everyone I truly cared including my parents and my adopted brother."
She looked down to the ground sadly. Eddie and Bailey felt empathy at the newt girl.
"I am so sorry." Bailey apologize.
"It's fine, but there's something that you should be aware of. King Andrias is nothing but cold hearted villain." said Kettle flatly.
"King Andrias is a bad guy?" Eddie asked.
"Yeah, he took away my home, my friends, and my family. Anne and the Plantars has escaped, Sasha escape too, but Marcy…" Kettle pause for a moment.
Eddie and Bailey grew worried. He get up from the couch and kneeling down at the newt girl.
"What happen to Marcy?" Eddie asked softly.
She looked up at Eddie when showing his eyes desperately needed to know if Marcy is okay. She was afraid if he's going to yell at her that Marcy was stuck there.
"I…. I… I don't know what happened to her. Olivia told me that she's still alive." said Sammie.
"Are you sure?"
She nodded. Bailey kneeled down too to comfort the poor newt.
"Hey, it's gonna be okay." said Bailey softly.
Kettle looked at her, showing her small tears. She hugs the human girl warmly. This surprised Bailey when she felt touched, then the teenage girl hugged her back and stroking her head gently. Eddie felt bad at Kettle. He never knew that Andrias turned out to be a villain.
"Don't worry, you're safe now. I know what's like for someone I truly cared that's been missing. I've been struggling to move on, but I never give up on her. What do you say if we can solve the case together?" said Eddie.
Kettle stops crying when she looked up at him. Bailey forms her small smile at her.
"We can help each other out." said Bailey softly.
Kettle smiles back and nodded after wiping her tears off.
"Okay, now let's get you changed." said Eddie.
"Why?" She asked.
"Well, let's just say that the people might not be uncomfortable with the newt. We don't want anyone to call the police or the government. You know, FBI, CIA, S.H.I.E.L.D."
She blinked her eyes twice.
"I don't know what this is, but okay."
Eddie look through the closet and took out the box that belongs to Marcy. He pulled out a small clothes and smiles that he remembers when Marcy use to wear. Later on, Sammie change her outfit into something as a disguise until she is now wearing Marcy's old clothes and put on a yellow mask that has smile face.
"Okay, how do I look?" She asked when showing herself.
Both Eddie and Bailey looked at her smiling. When Eddie was staring at her wearing Marcy's old clothes, he look through a vision showing Marcy as 5 year old girl smiling then his vision came back to Kettle.
"You look great." Eddie answered.
"You still have that clothes where Marcy used to wear?" Bailey asked.
"Well, I kinda liked it when she used to wear." replied Eddie.
"That is so adorable."
"Alright, now where do we start?"
She walked over to the board where Eddie has setup. She looked at the photos of Anne, Sasha, Marcy, and their families and then looked at the photo of the music box until she spotted something on the picture that was printed from the web.
"Hey, is that the robot?" Kettle asked.
"Oh, this one? I printed out when I heard a rumor when there's a robot chasing cars in the highway until something that just blows up from the sky." Eddie answered.
"(gasp) Of course! That must be the Cloak-Bot that King Andrias sent!" Kettle remembers.
"Wait, Cloak-Bot?" Eddie asked.
"How did you know?" Bailey asked as well.
"Before I came here, I overheard when Andrias speaks to the robot when I realize that he send the Cloak-Bot to eliminate Anne."
"Wait, he send the robot to eliminate Anne?! As in killing a thirteen years old?!" Eddie stunned.
"Well, he's evil. Obviously." Kettle shrugged.
"That's cold." Bailey shuddered.
"I know, but what he said when the bomb was on the robot, it might been explode up in the sky. Meaning that Anne must've got rid of it quickly."
"You know about history. Good thinking, Sammie." said Eddie.
"Thanks. I've been studying and read lots of books from the library." replied Kettle.
"You know something? You really reminded me when you look like my sister when she was five years old. What did you say how old you are?" Bailey asked curious.
"(giggles) I'm nine years old." Kettle giggled.
"Right, let's head on out where we can find Anne. Maybe she could be at home all this time." said Eddie.
"Are you sure?" Bailey asked.
"That's the idea."
"Okay, let's going."
Eddie, Bailey, and Kettle left the room as they walk through the door leaving everything behind as we looked to the photo of Anne smiling.
Meanwhile at the Boonchuys residence, Anne and the Plantars were sitting on the couch watching one of the Disney Movie where it shows a crocodile is chasing a pirate captain with hook trying to eat him making both Sprig and Polly laugh.
"Seriously? That crocodile tries to eat him just because of that?!" Sprig asked when he laughs.
"Yeah, it's kinda like based on the nursery book." replied Anne.
"That guy is gonna get eaten." Polly laughed.
"So, does this happen when people get eaten for real?" Hop Pop asked.
"Trust me, you don't want to know." Anne answered.
Suddenly, they heard a doorbell.
"Must be some visitors. I'll get it!" Sprig hops off the couch.
He walked over to the door. Once he answers the door and he looked at Eddie, Bailey, and Kettle standing in front of the him, but didn't notice that she is a newt. As for Eddie and Bailey that were staring at the frog surprised.
"Hi there." Kettle waved.
Sprig's been standing there for three seconds until he gasps when close the door quickly leaving the three of them confused.
"Dude, what's up?" Anne asked.
"Anne, there were strangers at the door! Don't answer it!" Sprig panicked.
"Dude! I told you to wait until you put on your disguises." said Anne annoyed.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know that it might be either Dipper and Mabel or Phineas and Ferb."
"It's fine, dude. Just let me do the talking."
Anne walked over to the door where Sprig move aside. She opens the door and then stunned for a moment. She was staring at both Eddie and Bailey when they looked at her concern and then smiles softly.
"Hey, Anne." Eddie greeted.
"Eddie? Bailey?" Anne looked surprised.
"Long time, huh? I was surprised that you return."
Anne was totally in mixed of shocked and surprised that Eddie was at the doorstep. She took a glance at Sprig who was shrugging nervously and then looked back at Eddie. The question is how does he know that she's home? Anne doesn't know what to say about Marcy. She wasn't ready to tell Eddie about what happen to Marcy.
"(sigh) There's-"
"I know what happen to Marcy." Eddie cut off sentence.
"You knew?" Anne blinked.
"Well, your little friend told me everything."
Anne looked down at Kettle when she lowered her mask to reveal her face. Both Anne and Sprig were gasp, knowing that she's one of them and even surprised that she's here as well.
"A newt?" Sprig surprised softly.
"Yeah, I don't know you remember me when Marcy told you about me." Kettle explains.
Anne looks up at Eddie and Bailey that were smiling softly. Guess there's no point for hiding the Plantars from her old friends. Polly and Hop Pop approach to Anne.
"Anne, whos' at the door?" Hop Pop asked.
"(sigh) Guys, this is Eddie, Marcy's older brother." Anne answered.
"Brother?!" Sprig exclaims.
"I thought she's only a single?" Polly confused.
"I didn't know she has a brother." Hop Pop added.
"Marcy didn't tell you anything?" Eddie asked.
"No, we were busy trying to find our home before all this happened." replied Anne.
"That's why I'm here to warn you." said Kettle.
Anne looked down at Sammie. She took a glance back at the Plantars for their approval until Hop Pop nodded.
"Alright, you guys can come in." said Anne.
They walk inside and close the door. Eddie, Bailey, and Kettle took their seat on the couch while Anne and the Plantars stood in front of the TV that the movie was paused while the screen was off.
"Alright, first off. What is it that you tried to warn us." said Anne.
"It's King Andrias. He turn everyone I know into slaves. The Toads were turned to slaves too. He replace the royal guards by robots when there's more coming. They ravage to our house and took my parents, but my adopted brother, Alex helped me escape. I was very lucky, but he was captured as well." Kettle explained.
"He turned everyone into slaves?" Hop Pop asked.
"What about Wartwood? Is everyone okay?" Sprig asked when concerned.
"I'm not sure if the robots are heading towards them, but it's just Newtopia that everyone was turned. He took away my home, my friends, and my family. That's when I snuck inside to use the box to open the portal to find you." Kettle finished her story when she closes her eyes.
Anne felt empathy at her, then kneeled down to Kettle's height, putting her hand on the girl's shoulder.
"I am so sorry about your home. I have no idea how Andrias took everything from you. We're gonna get to the bottom of this once we get back to Amphibia." said Anne.
She looked up then nodded. Anne looked up at Eddie smiling softly.
"Thanks for looking out for her."
"It's fine. She can stick with us until we could figured out how to get back to Amphibia." replied Eddie. "Is it alright if I can talk to you alone?"
Anne knew that this day would come. She still couldn't shake that feelings when Eddie knew something about Marcy, but she nodded.
"Sure, my room is upstairs." said Anne then turn her heads at Hop Pop. "Can you entertain them while we're upstairs?"
"Sure thing Anne." replied Hop Pop.
Eddie got up from the couch and followed Anne upstairs to her room. Once they reached to her room, Anne close the door behind them. Eddie looked around for all this.
"Nice stuff you got here." said Eddie.
"Thanks, but some stuff on floor belongs to Sprig. He got some for his birthday."
"That's nice."
Anne sat on the bed. She was nervous about this.
"About Marcy-"
Eddie raise his hand to cut off Anne's words.
"Kettle told me that she's still alive."
Anne sighed in relief. She wants to denied about Marcy's fate, but she still believe that she's still alive. Her thoughts were interrupted when Eddie continues.
"But I'm going to ask you a couple of questions. You're the only girl that ever came back home."
"Alright, ask away." said Anne.
"Good, when I got back from school and I noticed that Marcy is missing. Do you know what happen?" Eddie asked.
Anne recalls from the past since the day on her birthday.
"Marcy told me that her dad, your dad got a new job out of state. She has found the box from the thrift and send a text to Sasha so that she doesn't have to be alone again. Sasha and I ditched school just to do something for my birthday and then we stop by at the thrift store to get the box." said Anne when she explains everything.
"Right, I remember when I talked to your parents about what happen. Let me ask you this. Did you or did you not steal the box?"
Anne looked down when fiddled her fingers before she looked down to the floor, shamefully.
"(sigh) Yes, I did." Anne answered.
"Why?" Eddie asked, skeptically.
"It was all Sasha's idea. I didn't know if Marcy knew about the box that actually worked."
"Does your parents know about this?"
"No."
"Then what happens next?"
"After we left the thrift store, we went to the playground where we used to play. When I open the box, we were sucked in and went separate. I was in Wartwood, Sasha ends up at the Toads Tower, and Marcy was at Newtopia."
Eddie now realize where the bright light came from. He remembers the day that he never forget. He walked closer to Anne, pulled something out from his pocket, and then show his sister's hair clip to Anne when raise her eyebrows. She gently took the hair clip from Eddie.
"I picked it up from the playground. I never thought that I realize that you and your friends disappeared. I was so distressed when Marcy vanished. Your parents were worried sick. Everybody's worried sick." said Eddie.
"What about your parents?" Anne asked softly.
"(sigh) I got into a fight. Dad was the reason why we were planning to move away leaving everything behind after getting his new job, out of state. I took all of my stuff and hers with me while they were sleeping and then I moved out before morning. I left a note to remind him that I rather stay to look for Marcy. It took me five months to find her. I have searched everywhere around the city."
Eddie pulled out his phone looking at the screen where it shows a photo of him and Marcy doing their pose as wallpaper. Anne felt empathy at him as he continue to explain.
"I've been struggling to move on. My dad tried to call or text me, but I chose to ignore. Mom texted me, too. Marcy..." Eddie paused. Then he felt a single tear started when he mentioned. "Marcy was special. We were raised together. We played together. We study together. We were meant be together as family if weren't for dad's stupid job. What is going with my family?"
Eddie cried silently after he explained. It broke Anne's heart to see this. She got off from the bed and gave him a hug gently. Eddie accepted as he hugged her back.
"It's okay. Just let it out." said Anne softly.
Eddie kept crying while Anne is rubbing his gently to calm him down until he stops crying. Anne looked at Eddie's eyes.
"We'll get your sister back. She's alive and I know it." said Anne.
"We?" Eddie asked softly.
"Yeah, me, Sprig, Polly, Mickey, and of all our friends."
"Mickey?"
"Yeah, dude. He found me and the Plantars when we ended up in Toontown when we got transported here."
Eddie was surprised for a moment. He use his left arm to wiped his tears off and smiles softly.
"I remember when Marcy draw some pictures. I helped her coloring when we draw together." said Eddie.
"Yeah, that's right. Do you remember when we told you about our fieldtrip?
"Yeah, it's kinda funny that it's all real."
"Hey, wanna head back down there and watch TV with us?"
"That'll be nice."
Anne opens the door and exit her room with Eddie followed behind. Once they went downstairs, they see Bailey, Kettle, and the Plantars all sitting on a couch as they all laugh together when looking at Sprig's phone.
"And there's me trying to lift sword out from the stone, but's too strong. And then we were riding on Mr. Toad's Wild ride which I thought it's gonna be a wild ride, but turns out that it was all just a kiddie ride." said Sprig showing to them.
"Sounds like you have some fun." Bailey smiles.
"What's it like to get on many rides?" Kettle asked.
"You have no idea how many rides you get to ride on." replied Sprig.
"Except that ride has a repeat buttons and do over." said Polly.
"You mean 'it's a small world'?" Bailey asked.
"Yeah, that one. Do not go in there! It's terrible!"
"C'mon Polly, not all rides are that bad."
"It's your funeral."
"Hey, guys. Talking about our vacation trip?" Anne asked when approach.
"Yeah, I showed them a lot of photos that I took pictures from my phone." Sprig answered.
"That's good to know. So, wanna watch the movie?"
"Sure!"
"I'm in." said Polly.
"Absolutely." Hop Pop added.
Suddenly, they heard a door open when her parents appeared with their groceries bag.
"Honey, we're back!" Oum.
"We brought some groceries." Bee added.
Once they approach, but what they didn't expect to see Eddie and Bailey are in the living room. Kettle peeked her head out at them.
"Oh! Eddie?" Oum looked surprised.
"Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy." Eddie greeted.
"What a surprised to see you."
Then she looked at Kettle who was hiding behind Eddie's legs.
"Who's this?" Oum curious
"Oh, this is Kettle. She's from Amphibia like the Plantars." Eddie answered.
She stepped out from Eddie and waved at Anne's parents. Oum smiles softly while Bee blinked his eyes.
"Hello." Kettle shyly greeted.
"Why, hello there. I see you're friend of Sprig." said Oum.
"Actually, we barely know each other." said Sprig.
"I hope Ivy wasn't jealous." Polly teased.
"Polly!"
"Ooh, who's Ivy?" Oum asked.
"Uh, she's a friend of mine. We're just hanging out and all. You know." replied Sprig.
"I see. Well, let's get eating. We are having chow mien for lunch." said Bee.
"Oh boy! I'm starving."
"Don't start without me!" said Polly hopping off the couch.
The Plantars went to help Anne's parents leaving Anne, Eddie, Bailey, and Kettle behind in the living room.
"Hey, Anne?" Eddie called when Anne turns around at him smiling. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." replied Anne.
While they were chatting when nobody noticed, from the outside of the house, it shows a blue glowing butterfly with sparkles on the flower. As it glows knowing that there is a signal that can bring hope and restore friendship.
