Chapter 14
2 Phone Calls
"So… is this over?" Caitlyn asked them. "Is Troy gone?"
Shane's eyes closed and he sighed. "I don't think so."
"Why?" Jason asked.
"… He told me I would change my mind. H-He won't give up…" Mitchie stuttered.
Shane squeezed her shoulder a little tighter. Mitchie was still tired, so she rested her head on Shane shoulder.

A few months later
"Will you please come with us?" Shane asked her. Mitchie wouldn't go to the mall with Connect 3 and Caitlyn, because now she was very large. The baby was due in less than a month. She barely went out in public anymore, because she hated being so fat. And plus, she was worried that she might only have another month to live.
"No Shane! I look terrible!" She responded; her self-esteem not very good lately. He groaned.
"Everyone knows you're pregnant! Nobody's going to think you're ugly because you're not!" Shane was getting kind of upset with how low she was thinking of herself. "You're the most beautiful girl I've even seen, even when we're having a baby soon." He said a little softer.
Mitchie smiled at her husband. Yes, they got married a few weeks ago. She finally told her parents about their grandchild, and they were at the wedding too. It was a small, but gorgeous beach wedding. No honeymoon, yet. Now the Connect 3 tour was over, and they all settled down in a house on the ocean.
"Please come with us." Shane begged. He took her hands. "Please."
Mitchie hated when Shane made her feel bad about things like this. "Fine…" He smiled.
They all left for the mall. Caitlyn and Nate went clothes shopping, Jason went to a shoe store, and Shane and Mitchie went shopping for their nursery. Then Mitchie's phone rang. "Hello?" she asked excitedly, because she couldn't wait to shop.
"Hello beautiful." Answered a voice. Her stomach dropped.
"Who is this?" she asked.
"Who you always dreamed of,"
"Who is this." She repeated seriously.
"Have you changed your mind yet?"
Then she knew who it was. It wasn't over yet.
"This is just the beginning." Then the line went dead. She stared into space. Shane waved his hand in front of her face. "Who was it Mitchie?" he asked.
She handed him her cell phone, and he scrolled through the collar ID like she did when he called Shane's phone. It was again, the same unknown number.
He clenched his fists together. "What did he say?" he said, grinding his teeth with rage.
"That this is just the beginning…" she breathed. Then, her phone rang again. Shane answered it. "What do you want?"
"Excuse me?" said a woman.
"Oh… sorry." He handed the phone to Mitchie.
"Hello?" she asked.
"Mrs. Grey? Would you like to know the gender now?"
"What took the tests so long?"
"Malfunctions. Would you like to know the gender?" The nurse repeated.
"Yes!" Mitchie asked excitedly, totally forgetting about Troy.
"It's a girl. Congratulations!"
"Thank you so much!" Then Mitchie hit the end button.
"Who was that?" Shane asked, seeing the smile Mitchie had just put on. "We have a girl, Shane!" she screamed.
He smiled from ear to ear and hugged her tightly, but not too tight because of the baby between them. After a few minutes, his smile turned into a frown. "What?" Mitchie asked, concerned.
"The phone call before the doctor…" he reminded her. Then the worry came over her again. "Don't leave my side and we'll be okay…" Shane reassured her. Mitchie smiled weakly.
Shane put a strong arm around her shoulder. "Let's go find everyone else." Shane said, kissing her on the cheek. They walked out of the store with their shopping bags, and oddly enough, they ran right into Caitlyn and Nate.
Mitchie and Shane tried hard to hide the fact that they may be in danger again. But Caitlyn and Nate were not the easiest people to fool. Luckily, they had other news to cover it up.
"It's a girl!" Mitchie yelled to Nate and Caitlyn. Caitlyn's eyes light up and she started to squeal. Nate put on a grin. He pretended that he didn't care because he had to 'keep his cool' (whatever that means to Nate) and stay calm.
"Come on, Nate! You know you wanna happy dance with us!" Caitlyn yelped. "Please!" Mitchie begged, smiling. Then at that exact moment, Nate frowned. He looked… sad.
Mitchie and Nate had become extremely good friends over the last few months. They were almost as close and Mitchie and Caitlyn.
"Oh! Shane look! There is a shoe that would totally match your outfit you just bought!" Caitlyn said as she pulled him toward the shoe store.
Mitchie looked back at Nate. He smiled up at her awkwardly.
"What's wrong, Nate?"
"Nothing." He replied simply.
"Come on Nate. Please tell me."
He sighed.
"Please Nate?"
He sighed again. "I dunno… just… finding out that your baby's a girl… it just… I dunno… it made me realize something…"
"What?"
"It made me realize-
