Chapter 18

Chapter 18

WHAT DID HE SAY, MITCHIE?

Shane's point of view

Mitchie was leaning on the counter crying. Shane slowly approached her. He placed Harmony in a high chair and put one of his arms around her upper waist. "Go a-away, Shane…" she said softly, but it didn't seem like she wanted it.

Mitchie's point of view

She couldn't believe this wasn't over yet. What more could he possibly do after what she was forced to do now?

Shane pulled her straight up slowly, and she didn't resist. He tried to get her to look at him, but she kept looking down. Then he pulled her face toward him gently, and it seemed like she was too weak to try to get away. She was still crying.

"What's wrong babe?" he asked quietly. She weaped. She stayed silent, so he pulled her into a tight hug. She cried into his shoulder for a long time, and then Harmony started crying medium loud. Shane and Mitchie broke apart. And Mitchie, still crying, went to pick her up.

Mitchie looked at her daughter. Harmony never cried once, except for now. It seemed that Harmony was sad because her mother was too…

Then Mitchie hugged her tight and gave her to Shane, but Harmony reached for her mother again. Mitchie looked from Harmony to Shane, and then sprinted up the steps.

Shane had given Harmony to Caitlyn to baby sit, so he was looking for Mitchie. She wasn't in their room, Caitlyn and Nate's, or Jason's. The phone started ringing, but something else made Shane run to get. He left the phone to ring, running toward the scream he was hearing.

He burst into their room, and saw no one. He also looked in the bathroom, and again saw no one. But there was one place he didn't check.

Shane opened the closet door and saw Mitchie sitting on the floor in darkness, with fresh tears streaming down her pale cheeks. He knelt down and picked her up, but she was in her own world too deep to notice. He set her on the bed and grasped her hands tightly, worried franticly.

"Mitchie… you are going to tell me what's happening right now!" he demanded. She shook her head. He held her tighter.

"Mitchie! I'm not just going to sit around thinking about the possible answer! You are going to tell me! I can't help if you don't tell me!" he raised his voice a bit, but more in concern than anger.

She shook her head again, but this time it was very slowly. Now he was angry.

"WHAT THE HELL DID HE SAY, MITCHIE!" Shane screamed. More tears glided down her face. "I'M GOING TO MAKE SURE THE POLICE KILL HIM!"

Mitchie looked up at Shane. He knew that it was Troy who called. Damn Troy. She thought. Shane was on the edge of crying, and Mitchie felt like dying because she couldn't tell him.

She had to lie; she had to make something up. She had no choice.

"He… He told me…" Mitchie started. She couldn't think of anything! Her blind went blank.

"What Mitchie!?" Shane yelled. A few tears fell from his eyes; Mitchie could stand to see him so sad, literally.

She fell to her knees, covering her face in her hands. Shane bent down and picked her up again. He once again put her on the bed, shaking.

What Shane did next was surprising, Mitchie half-expected him to pin her down until she told him, but he didn't.

Shane wrapped his strong arms around her waist and hugged her tightly. He held her head so she couldn't pull away. She cried into his shoulder and thought about Troy, which made her cry harder.

Shane kissed her head, and loosened his grip so he could put her forehead to hers. Mitchie eyes were swollen, she cried too much; and Shane didn't like to see her so hurt.

He kissed her on the lips softly. He was going to pull away, but Mitchie made it deeper. Shane was now confused. She was upset and wouldn't tell him anything, but she was making-out with him?

So he pulled away, but she kept her eyes closed. Shane got up off the bed and walked into the bathroom. He slammed the door behind him. How could she? They told each other everything. And she wouldn't tell him the most important thing right now. He could hear Mitchie's sobbing outside the door.

"S-Shane? I-I'm r-really s-sorry…" she stuttered. He ignored her plead. "I'm-" the phone started ringing. Mitchie screamed loudly.

Shane couldn't resist. He burst out of the bathroom and embraced her tightly. He could never stay mad at her… he was head-over-heals madly in love with her. Both were in tears. He stroked her hair, holding her close.

"I-I'll always l-love you f-forever, Sh-…" She said. She said it differently. Mitchie said it in a tone as if he was dying, and she stopped herself, like she couldn't say his name.

"I love you, Mitchie Grey…" he breathed in her ear. "Now tell me what he said." he whispered.

She sobbed again. "He said…"
