"TWO POKEMON! HE GETS TWO AND I GET ONE? I'M HIGHER RANKED!" Sergeant Leaf screamed to no one in particular, though blasting the ears out of Ash and Gary, who were sitting directly behind her. Their ears were already used to loud noises because they were in a helicopter that was about to lift off, but Leaf's screaming complaint was just off the charts.
"Calm down Sergeant!" Drake ordered with a frown forming on his face and then scolded, "If you truly are higher ranked than Ketchum than show it!"
Leaf, knowing that she was beaten, sat back down on her seat with a huff.
Gary snickered but stopped when Leaf turned around and gave him a death glare. Ash was the only one that was out of the mood; he hadn't slept for almost fourteen hours.
"Will everyone please sit down we are going to take off," The pilot said while punching in a few buttons.
Drake took a seat next to Leaf and gave the pilot a nod who took the copter up. Ash had never been in air before and looked around in astonishment as the helipad's lighted "H" grew smaller and smaller. The bright houses grew smaller and smaller until they were like the stars in a night sky. Leaf and Gary had been on airplanes all their life, but couldn't help but notice a difference between riding in a helicopter and riding in an airplane. The helicopter seemed more fragile than an airplane, but it felt like a much smoother flight. Gary yawned, finally feeling the fatigue that was catching up to him. He shook his head, not wanting to fall asleep, but was too weak under the power of sleep and slowly drifted off. Leaf was just staring out in the open, trying not to fall asleep too. She too though, fell asleep. Head Commander Drake had already pulled his beret down and was fast asleep, with his cigar still in his mouth. Ash stared out into the darkness which was only broken by the helicopter's headlights, and he soon began to fall asleep.
"We have arrived in Sinnoh, please exit carefully," The pilot said, waking up the four dozers. Groaning, Ash grabbed his backpack full of his belongings and headed out after Drake, Leaf and Gary. He looked around, and realized that he was on top of a tall skyscraper! He wanted to go to the side and look down and see the magnificent city that was called Hearthome City, but he knew that he couldn't. The group approached a door with a lock pad right next to it. Drake opened the lock panel and punched in a few numbers and pressed 'Enter'. After the door was open, Leaf tried to go inside, though Drake stopped her with an extended arm. Leaf questioned him with a look, and Drake explained,
"Those who do not have been analyzed will trigger the alarm; I will go in and get the Tech Group to scan you." Drake left without a word and there was nothing but silence between the trio for a while.
"They sure do have some tight security," Gary said, finally breaking the silence.
Leaf rolled her eyes while tossing her brunette hair and said, "Of course it is stupid, this is the President's Building. The tightest security has to be put on this place. Who knows what could happen to the President if the security was so easily broken through?"
Ash blushed at the sight of Leaf swirling her beautiful hair around. She looked like such a goddess… But Ash only managed to keep his crush unnoticeable because part of him did not like Leaf for being such a stuckup all the time. Gary payed no attention to Leaf's rude remark or Ash's slightly tinted face and sat down on the ground.
"Well, let's spend the time by introducing our Pokemon to each other," Gary said while throwing his Pokeball in the air. A light-blue, turtle-shelled Pokemon popped out, looking around cautiously at its new surroundings but smiled when it saw its master.
"Squirtle, Squirt-squirt!" The Pokemon chirped but then quickly hid behind Gary when it saw two strangers looking quite interested at it.
"This is Squirtle, he's a bit shy but he might just be one of the best Pokemon you could ever have," Gary said proudly, making Squirtle blush and rub his little head with one of its paws (I think they are paws xD).
"Hmph, that Water Pokemon is nothing compared to my Grass Pokemon," Leaf scoffed while throwing her Pokeball. "Come out, Bulbasaur my darling!"
"Bulba!" The Seed Pokemon said while jumping at its owner with paws outstretched looking very happy. Leaf got down and began to cuddle and murmur things that you would say to a baby.
Gary, while picking up Squirtle, looked at Ash and said,
"Hey Ash, mind if you show us your Pokemon?"
Leaf looked up from her cuddling (much to the disappointment of Bulbasaur)and added,
"Yeah Mr. Important Person Who Gets Two Pokemon, why don't you show us your special Pokemon."
"Uh okay," Ash answered nervously and took out his untouched Pokeballs and threw them to the ground. Plink.
"Eh?" He questioned when nothing happened. Both Leaf and Green slapped their hands to their face in the pure stupidity of the raven-haired boy.
"You have to press the button first," Gary explained to the confused boy while pointing at the miniature Pokeballs, "Or else you won't activate them."
Ash turned red at his dumb mistake and picked his Pokeballs back up from the ground and made sure to press both of his buttons. He was just about to throw them when Drake arrived with the Tech Team who was armed with strange gadgets.
"Okay soldiers, please step up to the Scanner one at a time and stand there until Barry, the tech supervisor tells you that you can stand down. Barry, a blonde-haired boy who looked like he was about the same age as the rest of the recruits, suddenly started to speak.
"Will someone please stand up before I charge them a million dollars for being late?"
Ash, Gary and Leaf looked strangely at the boy for adding the extra bit at the end of the sentence, before walking up to the Scanner. Leaf went first and she was scanned surprisingly quick. Gary and Ash followed and they were all done in about three minutes. When Barry and the Tech Team cleaned up was the most surprising of all, disassembling the heavy, seven foot scanner in less than thirty seconds.
"Yes this is why they are one of our most efficient Tech Crew, always getting things done super fast," Drake explained and then motioned the three to follow him while adding,
"Barry, the one that you just met, is also going to be attending your meeting with the President."
"Why? Why is it that we are even invited to the meeting? Heck, why are only sixteen-year olds are allowed? We're only rookies!" Gary blurted out suddenly, unable to contain his curiosity.
Drake also looked as thoroughly curious as Gary and answered,
"I don't know Private Oak, even Lance doesn't know. It's something special, that's all I know."
I'm sure you guys all know who Barry is; the guy who is your proclaimed rival in Diamond and Pearl? Anyways can you see a pattern starting up in the meeting of characters? Hint Hint…They are all characters that…
