Do I own Yu-Gi-Oh GX? Fuck no!

Johan's eyes only saw muted tones. He heard nothing worthwhile. Everyday life had become boring, monotonous.

The teal haired boy found himself bored often. He sat in the park. Wasn't it supposed to be a beautiful place? Wasn't it supposed to be inspiring?

On his shoulder rested his ruby carbuncle, the only thing that seemed to bring him any joy these days. In his sketchbook, he doodled her on a blank page. As he drew her, his mind wandered.

When he was younger, it was cute that he "made up" these crystal beasts. They were never fake, so what had changed?

At one point, Johan tried to pretend they weren't there. However, it wasn't fair to his friends. If others didn't understand, then so be it. Still, he yearned for at least one person, just one, who empathized with him. Was that too much to ask?

"Wow, that looks just like her." A warm voice rang in Johan's ears. Johan winced. He looked up to see a brunette with a smile that matched his voice.

At first, Johan didn't process what this boy before him had said. "Wait, did I say something wrong?"

Johan shook his head slowly. He opened his mouth, but closed it again. It was impossible to put his feelings into words.

Though the boy didn't know Johan, he still pulled the teal haired teen into a comforting hug.

Johan cried into the boy's red jacked, surely ruining it. "Why?" The teen gasped.

"You were all alone, and you looked kinda depressed."

Swallowing hard, Johan looked up at the brunette. For the first time in a long while, he saw vibrant color and heard beauty. Everything Johan concentrated in one this one stranger. "Just who are you?"

Wiping a tear from Johan's eye, the brunette replied, "The name's Yuki Judai, you can call me Judai."

Johan smiled. This boy, Judai, he seemed childlike somehow. The first to comfort even a stranger and a voice filled with energy.

Judai held a hand out to Johan. "You are?"

Taking the outreached hand, Johan introduced himself. "I'm Johan Anderson."

Judai grinned and looked back at the sketchbook. "Hey, would ya' draw my Kuriboh with her?"

Johan nodded quickly, a broad smile plastered across his face. He scooped up his pencil and set back to work. Judai looked on, smiling at his new friend.

"Her name is Ruby, and she's a carbuncle, Judai," He informed the brunette. His new friend.

"Ngh," Johan groaned as light cracked through the window into his eyes. He took a deep breath, taking in his favorite scent. Judai. He nuzzled further into his lover's neck. "Time to get up."

Judai's eyes opened slowly." Mornin.'" He, mind a fog from just awaking.

Johan kissed Judai's cheek. "I had the greatest dream last night, it was about you."

Judai smiled playfully. "That does sound pretty great, huh?"

Punching Judai's arm softly, Johan said, "Not just you, idiot." He laughed.

That day of their first meeting, Johan didn't expect his friend to become more than just that.
