** Civil War **

"You're becoming just like him! I thought we were going to run and represent this country together!" Nicole yelled at Alfred. Alfred glared at his baby sister.

In the fight between the states, she had been siding with the South while he had been siding with the North.

And, with South Carolina threatening to succeed from the union, their fights began to escalate. They had begun throwing things at each other and yelling insults at one another.

"No I'm not!" was his only response. Nicole huffed while crossing her arms. She stared down her older brother before grabbing her bag.

"Well, it doesn't matter anymore. I'm done. Good bye brother." Nicole turned and slammed the door closed as she left. Alfred stood still. She was going to leave on a misunderstanding? They couldn't survive on their own. This is exactly what Arthur is waiting for. He is going to make sure they stayed together. They had to.

She stood on the battle field. Blood was everywhere. The sight was more gruesome. The blood of brothers and sons lay on the ground around her. She looked at all her fallen soldiers with pieces of paper stuck to their bodies, telling the medics exactly who they were. She could feel bile rise in her throat.

This sight was so sickening. Even worse than the sight of those fallen in the Revolutionary War. Tears threatened to spill from her eyes as she looked at the after math of Gettysburg. As she gazed onto the Union's side, her eyes locked with her brother's.

Blue gazed at blue. The slightly darker blue behind glasses gazed into the light blue of the younger sister. But, she quickly looked away.

She knew that look. It was the look he had when they finally beat England. Except this one was way stronger than that. It was filled with more longing. And, she had to be strong. The Confederacy needed her too.

One last glance and she turned back to camp. She had a war to fight.

She stood before Alfred, bloody from battle. Her head was down in shame. The Confederate uniform she wore burned her.

The south had lost.

And now she was before Alfred.

"Nicole…" Alfred whispered before pulling her into a tight embrace. Nicole gripped his own union jacket, burying her face in his chest.

"Please don't do that again. I don't know if I can survive another one like that." He whispered into her neck. He inhaled, missing her.

"I won't. I promise."
