Author's Note: Hey everyone. Sorry about the long wait for this oneshot. I wrote another draft that my beta didn't like so this is a new version that I hope everyone likes. As promised, it is based on Matt and T.K.'s attempts to gain Davis's forgiveness. Hope you all enjoy.
Matt and T.K.
Matt Ishida groaned in misery. He had tried to invite his once friend, Davis Motomiya to one of his band's concerts. Davis had turned him down again. It had been tough for him and all of his friends. Nine months ago Davis had finally burst. He cut off relations with his fellow digidestined except Ken Ichijouji and Cody Hida with the claim of horrible treatment and lack of respect for him. Some had managed to get back into his good graces. Matt was not one of them and neither was his younger brother, Takeru Takaishi, nicknamed T.K.
Matt had thought about his attitude toward Davis a lot lately. It had taken him quite a while to make a very important connection, Davis reminded him of Tai. Both were courageous leaders who tended to act before they thought. For this reason, Matt treated Davis like Tai.
Both Matt and Tai had been to the digital world once before Davis's trip there. Tai had led their group of digidestined and butted heads with Matt a lot. Tai had also made a few mistakes such as evolving his partner too quickly when he was angry. Looking back to when Tai first chose Davis as the second generation leader Matt had come to realize how worried he was that Davis would make the same mistakes. With that new insight, Matt started to understand his behavior. He had pushed Davis too far in trying to help the boy bypass his predecessor's mistakes.
"Said no again?" T.K. asked from behind him.
"Yeah. Can't blame him through. These days, I can't stand myself. How can I apologize for calling him unimportant?" Matt asked.
"Wish I could tell you. I'm still trying to figure out how I went wrong myself. So far I've figured out why I ignored him and usurped his authority."
"Sounds like me and Tai on our first adventure, doesn't it?" Matt asked.
"Too bad it doesn't work quite the same way in Davis's and my friendship."
"Can't just work your frustrations out fighting each other, I guess."
"No. Tai wasn't a trained ninja." T.K. pointed out. "Besides, we don't work that way."
"You're right. Have you tried talking to him?"
"No. I'm not sure how to start. How do I tell him I was jealous and stupid? How do I explain how hurt I was that Tai chose the new kid as leader over me? I'd been to the digital world. I knew what to expect."
"T.K., when we first got to the digital world were you at all freaked out?"
"Maybe. Mostly I just thought it was cool."
"Davis's first trip to the digital world convinced Tai Davis was the right choice. Davis went straight into the fight to protect Kari and Tai when the Monochromon attacked. He showed courage."
I-I was there but I guess I never really looked at it like that. I've been so stupid."
"You're not the only one."
"So what now?"
"We explain what we did wrong and prove we've changed." Matt answered.
"But how? He won't talk to us."
"Then we get him to listen. T.K., write down what you want to say to Davis. I'll use it in a song that we'll sing when I finally manage to get Davis to one of my concerts." Matt said as he was hit with an idea.
"And if you can't get him to come to one of your concerts?" T.K. asked irritably.
"Then we'll serenade his window or something." Matt snapped.
T.K. didn't have a retort to that strange back-up plan but at this point he was desperate enough to do it if Matt's concert plan failed.

T.K. had a great deal of difficulty figuring out what to say to Davis though he eventually wrote something heartfelt. Thankfully, the two didn't need to serenade Davis's window. Matt managed to get Tai's help to get the auburn haired child of courage, friendship, and miracles to come to one of his concerts. As Matt had suggested, the two sang the song Matt had written from both their feelings. Davis was touched and finally started talking to the two again. The healing process had finally begun for them.
