Percy and Jason where rudely awakened the next morning by the Son of Hades; who had shadow traveled into the room and was in the process of making as much noise as possible.
Jason had long ago given up on trying to kick out Nico when Thalia sent him to wake them up, but he groaned when he heard the shower turning on.
He gave up trying to go back to sleep and got in a comfortable position to watch his Sea Prince sleep. Smiling softly, he gently ran his fingers through Percy's raven hair, marvelling at its softness like he always did.
Jason was so intent on watching Percy that he didn't notice Nico coming out of the bathroom, fully clothed and black hair dripping. Nico stood silent for a whole minute before interrupting the moment Jason and the sleeping Percy were having.
"You should wake him," Jason turned, he had forgotten all about Nico, "Thalia won't let you sleep in the same room again if you miss family breakfast."
With his job done, Nico melted into the shadows, leaving Jason alone with a sleeping Son of Poseidon.
Carefully, he leaned forward, his lips brushing Percy's ear as he whispered, " wake up Perce."
Slowly, Percy's eyes opened and he grinned sleepily at Jason as soon as he could focus.
Leaning up, he captured Jason's lips, murmuring a sleepy good morning before rolling off the bed.
"Has Nico dropped by yet?"
Percy's voice drifted to him from the bathroom and Jason felt a stab of jealousy, which was ridiculous but, after everything that had happened, he couldn't help and feel possessive of his boyfriend. Sighing, he dragged himself out of bed, firmly ignoring the sound of the shower.
Grabbing the clothes Nico had dropped off, he waited until Percy came back into the room before tossing the clothes at him and taking a quick shower.
Once they were both ready, Jason grabbed Percy's hand and dragged him out of the room.
Downstairs, they heard before they saw their family. Bianca and Thalia were teasing Nico, who was protesting something as Hazel watched in amusement.
As they approached the table, Thalia leered at them before everyone else burst out laughing.
"Thals, I swear if you ever do that again, I'll throw up."
Thalia huffed and it was only thanks to his quick reflexes that Percy was able to dodge the piece of toast thrown at him.
Sticking his tongue out at Thalia, he sat down between Jason and Hazel and they all became silent, turning to Thalia like they always did.
Family breakfast had been started when Percy was rescued by Jason and Thalia.
He had been quiet for almost a week when out of the blue he had shyly pulled on Thalia's shirt and asked her if it was Saturday. Surprised, she had nodded and was startled when the little boy's green eyes filled with tears. Immediately, Jason was at his side, glaring at his sister while hugging Percy and whispering soothing things. After a while, he calmed down and Jason tentatively asked him why Saturday was important.
Percy's eyes filled with tears again, but he refused to let the tears fall and instead answered in a soft voice.
"Mommy and I used to have family breakfast on Saturday because it was the only day Smelly Gabe wasn't there."
Jason didn't have to kick Thalia for her to want to do something for the kid.
"Well Percy, how about we have our own family breakfast?"
With that phrase, a tradition began and every Saturday they all had to eat together.
Thalia bent her head and closed her eyes and the rest followed her example.
"I just want to say that I'm glad our stupid Sea Prince is okay. Though the gods have abandoned us, we are still bound to them so let us thank them for the powers they have given us."
Thalia was the first one to inconspicuously drop a strawberry in the candle that sat in the middle of the table. Then the rest of them did the same.
When they were all done, Thalia smiled, her blue eyes sparkling, "all right kids, lets eat!"
They all settled into a familiar routine of teasing and throwing food at each other.
As expected, Percy was the first to be done and was on his feet as soon as he swallowed the last piece of blueberry pancake. The rest of his family continued eating, already used to his love of food.
Percy was so concentrated on loading his plate with food that he didn't notice the blonde boy next to him until he cleared his throat.
Startled, he whirled around, right hand flying to his pocket, while he balanced his plate with the other. When he saw the blonde boy with a scar on his face, he didn't relax. Everything about the guy screamed demigod, from his necklace to his shoes.
The guy smiled at him, amused by his reaction.
"Her, sorry for startling you. I'm Luke and I wanted to ask you if we met before, you look familiar."
Even though the guys tone was friendly, Percy could see the determined light in his eyes. He managed to give the guy a smile and before turning to go back to his table, he answered.
"Sorry, I just have that kind of face I guess."
As he walked towards the table, the guy fell into step next to him, chewing on an apple slice he stole from Percy's plate.
"Is there anything else you need?"
Luke just smiled, as if Percy was the most amusing thing he'd ever encountered.
"Truth is kid, I'm being nice and escorting you to your table."
Percy glared at the blonde guy, before rolling his eyes and tried to ignore the feeling that he had heard that voice before. He groaned as they reached the table. Jason's blue eyes were bright in jealousy and anger but there was also a nervousness there that made the Son of Poseidon uneasy.
He sat down slowly, and began eating knowing that the others were trying to make him look up. It wasn't until Hazel subtly nudged him that he looked up.
The guy was still there, but now his gaze was fixed on the entrance. Percy looked towards the entrance also, just in time to see four teenagers walk through the door.
Percy froze as the warm brown eyes of the hyperactive guy locked onto his.
Faintly, he could hear the others calling his name to get his attention. Before he could react, he felt as if someone stabbed him between the yes.
The last thing he heard before he lost consciousness was a warm, motherly voice saying, "Sleep young one, for your journey only gets harder from here, so rest."
