Hey guys Im back! I FOUND MY JOURNAL! Yay exciting I know right its been forever since I last updated and Im sorry for that, I will try to do better. Im sorry, guess what guys? Marching season ended last weekend! We got third at this huge competition and it was amazing. Thank you to the people that updated last time that always makes me smile when y'all do. Any ways onto the chapter where you get to see the... FIRST TASK! How exciting?!
I woke up the morning of the first task and had a strange sense of uneasiness in my stomach, I was so nervous for multiple reasons. Obviously it was the first task today, Scorpius and I had tried to find out what it was for two months now with absolutely no luck so I was going into this blind. The only thing we know is that we have to be ready at the Forbidden Forest at noon today with nothing but our wands. Also I didn't even know if my family was going to be here, my father had sent me a very upsetting howler about how disappointed he was about a week after the champions were chosen But after that nothing.
I sighed and rolled out of bed, on my night stand was the cloak and uniform I was supposed to wear that was read and black. It had Gryfindoor written a crosse the back and looked identical to what my Uncle Harry wore when he competed as a fourth year. I pulled the suit over my head and yanked on my quiditch boots and tucked my pant legs into them, I started to pull my hair back into a pony tail but as soon as I let go it started to fall out.
"That's not gonna stay." A voice came from behind startling me. It was Lily.
"What are you doing here ?" I asked as she pulled the chair from my desk and pushed me into it where I was sitting down, I looked at her reflection in the mirror that was leaning up against the wall and sitting on my desk. She had dark circles under her eyes.
"I thought you might need help. Or that you might want to talk." Lily shrugged and smiled at me. "We haven't talked in forever and I wanted to make sure you where ok. Despite you entering an extremely dangerous competition that there is a distinct possibility you wont come out alive from, you are my cousin Rose and I do love you." She ran her hands through my hair lightly as she started to pull it back to braid it.
"I'm sorry for keeping it from you Lily.." Besides Albus, Lily was my best friend out of all our cousins. And after the howler my father had sent me, I havent had much contact with any of my family, it's not like we where avoiding each other but we certainly were not trying to find each other and talk. I also didn't have that many friends outside of our family group so I've been alone except for a couple of close friends and one or two new ones.
"I know you are sweets." Lily reached around me to grab a hair tie from my desk before twisting it around the ends of my hair to keep the french braid in that she did. "And I wanted you to know that I'm here for you. I know we havent spent that much time together the last two months but all of us where worried and nervous. I know that's no excuse so I'm sorry." She smiled at my reflection in the mirror. "Now you have to go or you will be late." She pulled me out of the chair I was sitting in and wrapped me into a hug. "You'll do great Rose." she turned to walk out and smiled at me one more time over her shoulder.
I sighed and grabbed my cloak off the back of my chair and slid my wand into my boot. I walked down the common room, it was empty everyone was outside waiting for the first talk to start. I exited through the portrait hole, and smiled at the figure standing across the hall. "Hey there."
Scorpius stepped out into the hall way smiling his crooked smile that made my stomach do flips.
Since the champions were chosen Scorpius and I had become much closer, we started as acquaintances and moved to friends then moved to really good friends. Lately I had got this flippy feeling in my stomach when he smiled or laughed at me or something I said. I'm not dumb, I've read those silly teenage books and I know what that flippy feeling in my stomach is. I can't help it though, Scorpius has been great to me. We really have become great friends and I was hoping it would move onto something more.
"Hi," I smiled at him as he took my hand to pull me through the halls, this was nothing new. He often held onto my hand when we walked through the halls to make sure that we didn't get separated while we where talking.
He started to pull me down the hallway towards the doors to get outside, we hurried down the stairs together saying nothing. Set up in the back of the school a little ways away from where the first task is, a tent was set up for the champions and anyone they wanted to bring with them into it. Scorpius reached foward and pulled back the flap for me to enter the tent, there was still a good 30 minutes till the first task started so we walked over to my corner of the tent and sat down in the space provided.
"Are you excited?" Scorpius asked me smiling. I just shrugged looking down. "Well then Miss. Grumpy whats on your mind?"
I looked up smiling at him, "I'm just wondering if my family is here." Scorpius smiled nicely at me before tugging me up to standing.
"Come here." He pulled me to the front flap where we would exit to go to the task. He pulled it back slightly and pointed out towards the stands a ways away from us. "It might be just me, but that is a lot of red heads sitting together don't ya think?"
I smiled seeing everyone sitting together, as we watched Lily entered the stands and hugged her dad before sitting next to him and Albus. "That is a lot of red heads.." I giggled before turning back into the tent.
A band began to play from outside, I glanced back towards the exit of the tent. "Everyone gather around." Kingsley walked into the tent and everyone went to him. I looked at Tobias he was in all black and Anastasia was in all blue. "Now for your first task today, in the forbidden forest there is a little shack that three scrolls are inside of. One for each of you to take, then you must come back here as quickly as you can. This sounds very simple but the forbidden forest is filled with creatures that hate wizards, most will not hesitate to attack you. If you get into trouble just shoot red sparks into the air and you will be taken out of the task. Is that clear?" Everyone mumbled yes. "excellent, now good luck." He walked over to the curtain that lead us outside and pulled up the flap for us to exit.
Tobias and Anastasia walked out next to each other and the cheering got louder. I looked over at Scorpius and he just smiled comfortingly, "Piece of cake." He winked at me as we walked out together. When I walked out the cheering from all the Hogwarts students doubled, I looked around the crowd smiling. My eyes landed on my family who where all sitting together they where watching me and cheering, they where all smiling at me but I could see they where worried. All of them except for Uncle Harry, he looked like the most relaxed thing in the world, that made me laugh. I glanced at my dad, he was frowning while watching me. When he finally noticed it was Scorpius walking with me to the starting line he got even more upset. I could see him sigh and shake his head in disappointment before turning to my mother.
"Ignore him." Scorpius whispered in my ear. I turned to look at him and he just smiled comfortingly at me. "Focus on the task, you only have 3 hours to get there and back."
"Piece of cake." I said again jokingly. Tobias, Anastasia, and I lined up at where we entered the forest, Kingsley was explaining the rules to the crowd. As soon as he finished we would be allowed to enter the forest.
"Yeah so after this we should go to the Room of requirements and relax." Scorpius smiled at me.
"Or you know study for that big potions test that's coming up." I reminded him laughing
"Or that." He laughed. He looked like he was going to say something else but Kingsley shouted go and I sprinted in after giving him an excited smile. As I ran away I could hear him laughing at me and the Hogwarts kids cheering for me.
This was completely impossible. The forest was to big for us to just wander around, I put my hand on the tree trunk next to me and sighed. I pointed my wand at the trunk and blasted a little hole into it so I could find my way back out.
I was about to start walking again when I heard a growl come from behind me. I turned around very slowly and saw a big three-headed dog, I stumbled backwards and tripped over a tree rot. When I feel on my back I dropped me wand, I watched the dog come closer as I grabbed around the dirt trying to find my wand. My hand finally hit my wand and I kept dropping it when I picked it up again. I kept getting little rocks in my hands along with it. Eventually i got a good hold on my wand after a couple of trys and pointed it at the dog who immediately back off a the sight of my wand. "Immpedimenta!" The dog froze for a couple of seconds under the spell, so I could stand up. As I stood up I saw a group of people watching me and I screamed in shock.
"Play music and he will go to sleep!" One of the people told me, they looked like ghosts. They where all white and gray or blue and they where floating in the air.
Not one to question help when offered I turned around and flick my wand quickly to transfigured a branch into a flute then I charmed it to play just as the dog charged at me. But as soon as the music started the dog stopped and started to fall asleep.
I quickly turned to thank the people but they where already hurrying away, "Follow us." One of them said, there where six in total.
"Wait who are you?" I asked as I followed them. "Do you know where there is a little cabin in these woods?"
"Yeah we can show it to you." One of them turned around a smiled at me and I froze.
"Uncle George?" I asked confused. They all turned to look at me and I saw there faces for the first time. I stared at them confused for a few seconds before I looked down at my hand and opened my palm. Right next to my wand I was holding a black stone that was covered in dirt. "Oh.." I looked back up at them. I knew who they all where. I had seen enough pictures around my family's house.
"We can help you get to the shack but we have to keep moving." A nice looking woman steeped forward and smiled at me. She was holding a mans hand and that man looked exactly like Uncle Harry. These where his parents.
"Your Uncle Harry's mom, Lily Potter." I was watching them all completely shocked.
"Yes I am." She smiled at me again. "We have to keep moving follow us." She turned around and pulled her husband after her. A man I recognized as Sirius Black and Uncle Harry's godfather turned and followed after them silently. Remus and Tonks Lupin looked at me a bit longer before Tonks whispered something to her husband and they turned to follow the rest. Eventually it was only Uncle Fred looking at me.
"Who are your parents?" He asked me softly as we started after the group.
"Ron and Hermione." I looked up at him as he started to laugh loudly.
Remus turned and looked at him, "What on Earth is so funny Fred?"
"Ron and Hermione got married!" Fred managed to talk through his fits of laughter. Everyone in their group smiled and laughed a little before they kept walking. I looked at him confused for a while before turning to keep walking.
"We're here." Lily pointed at a little shack that was sitting in the middle of a small clearing in the trees. I stared at it as I walked past them. I got to the edge of the trees and looked around the circle.
I entered the circle slowly worried that there might be a trap, I made it to the shack and opened the door carefully when I peaked inside I saw three scrolls stacked on a table. I quickly entered and grabbed one-off the table. I exited the cabin and was closing the door behind me, when I turned to face the people waiting for me at the edge of the trees I smiled at them and walked up towards them.
"There where still three scrolls. They others haven't found the cabin yet." I sighed and tucked the scroll into my boot leg so it wouldn't get lost.
The others nodded and started to lead me back out. Tonks hung back a bit to walk next to me this time. "So you know my son.." she smiled at me.
"Teddy? Yeah he's a family friend." I nodded while struggling to keep up. The others where moving very fast since they couldn't trip over anything
"How is he?" She asked softly.
"He's really good. He's an aurorer now, and he just proposed to his girlfriend. My cousin Victory." I smiled up at her. When I looked over at her I could see Anastasia running by in the woods, towards the exit, with a scroll in her hand. "Crap." I muttered, "Look I got to go, I'll come back ok. I can tell you about your kids and hid the stone." I smiled at them as I started to hurry forward. "I promise ok."
They looked like they where about to protest but I dropped the stone before they could. I ran over to the tree near by and kicked the stone over to it. I blasted another whole into it and turned to leave. I could see Tobais was catching up behind Anastasia. I sprinted after her. We where a lot closer than I thought, I could hear the crowd talking, they started to cheer and I knew that Anastasia had made it, I saw the sun at the end of the forest and I sprinted.
I broke through the tree line and the crowed started cheering louder, Scorpius was waiting for me. He hurried over to me and looked confused.
"Where is it?" He asked softly. I just held my foot out to him. He looked up at me confused before kneeling down and pulling my boot off which made the scroll come rolling out. "Of course." He rolled his eyes at me and I couldn't help but laugh.
Finally Tobias came out of the forest looking furious. He walked over to his teacher who looked like he was yelling at him but you couldn't hear them over the cheering of the crowd. I turned to look towards my family and smiled at them. They where all looking relived and smiling and I couldn't help but smiling back at them.
