The two Skywalker women spent the rest of the night in their hut, growing closer together. Padme learned of how Bail Organa raised Leia and how Leia had been fascinated with her growing up. That night brought the two even closer together and strengthened their Force bond. Padme even began teaching Leia basic Force abilities so she could have a basic understanding when Luke returned and began to teach her. The next morning, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in." Leia called. The door opened to reveal Han in his uniform. Chewie was behind him.
"You girls ready yet?" Han asked. Padme nodded and the two girls followed Han, Chewie, Wicket and another Ewok to the shield generator. Han and Leia began discussing how to get inside when Padme noticed one of the Ewoks heading down.
"Uh, guys…" Padme said. Han groaned when he saw the Ewok.
"He's gonna get himself killed." He remarked. The Ewok climbed onto a speed bike and flew off. Two of the three Stormtroopers followed him, leaving one behind.
"You've got to admit, he's clever." Leia remarked before the group snuck down and signaled the rest of the strike team to follow them and they surrounded the Stormtrooper. Han smirked and opened the door. The strike team ran in and pointed their blasters at them.
"Stand back." Han said. The Imperials stood back and held their hands up in surrender. Han and Leia began to work when suddenly more Imperials came in and led them outside. Padme's eyes widened at the sight outside. Stormtroopers and Walkers surrounded them.
"How in the Force's name?" She whispered. Hearing her, a Stormtrooper pushed her to the ground.
"No talking!" He cried. Padme grunted as she hit the ground.
"Don't touch her!" Leia cried and was promptly pushed to the ground after Padme. Leia grunted and looked at her mother in worry.
"Don't say anything. I don't want you getting even more hurt than you already are." Padme instructed. Leia nodded,
"Alright Mother but you're still family. I'm protective." Padme smile slightly,
"That's my job Leia. I'm the mother and even though you're older I'm still the one who's supposed to worry." Leia gave a slight nod as the two were roughly grabbed by their arms and forced to stand. Suddenly, a familiar voice called,
"Hello there. Looking for us?" Padme turned slightly to see Threepio and Artoo on a hill. Several troopers went over when they were attacked by Ewoks. Soon, Ewoks attacked the rest of the troopers, setting the rebels free. Padme quickly spun, grabbed the Stormtrooper's, that was holding her, arm and flipped him to the ground before following Leia and Han to the door.
"Enter that code and open that door Solo!" Padme cried as she began shooting at the Imperials with Leia. Han entered it but instead of opening the door remained locked.
"Looks like the code was changed." Han said, "Call Artoo." Leia pulled out her comm and called Artoo. The little droid came over and began to unlock the door when Artoo was shot and flew back from the force of the shot.
"Artoo!" Padme cried. Han looked at the droid and then the door before saying,
"I guess I can try to hotwire this thing. Cover me." Padme crouched behind Leia and began to fire at the troopers with her. They continued for several minutes when Han cried, "Got it!" He activated the door but instead of opening, several other doors fell over the first. "Or not." Han remarked. Leia suddenly cried out. Padme turned and gasped. A trooper had shot her daughter. Quickly, Padme located the trooper and shot at him.
"You okay?" Padme asked worriedly. Leia nodded. "I told you it's my job to worry." Leia chuckled slightly. Padme looked and her eyes widened as a Walker came closer, having taken out the rest of the Imperials. She gripped her blaster when it stopped and the top opened to reveal Chewie.
"Chewie! What're you doing in there?" Han cried. Chewie growled to which Han replied, "Well get down here, she needs help." Chewie began to get out when Han cried, "Wait! I've got an idea." He then turned to Padme and said, "Get her out of here and try to help her wound." Padme nodded and swung one of Leia's arms around her neck before standing up and walking off slowly. The two sat on a log far enough away from the shield generator. Padme took off Leia's poncho and pulled out a dagger from her other boot. Leia's eyes widened.
"How many weapons do you carry?" She asked. Padme smiled slightly and shrugged,
"As many as need be." Leia chuckled slightly and watched as Padme cut a strip of Leia's long tan vest and began to tie it around her wound. Padme smiled as she finished tying the strip around her daughter's arm tightly. "There. That should do to stop the bleeding. Han or I can replace it once we're done here." Leia was silent for a minute before she asked,
"What was he like?" Padme looked at her daughter, confused. Leia's eyes had an anger yet curious fire in them.
"Your father?" She asked just to make sure. Leia nodded. "Well he was kind and very adventurous for the short time I knew him." Last night, Padme had explained how she arrived to Leia. Padme chuckled slightly, "He actually was a lot like Luke from what I remember." She sighed, "I wonder how long he stayed like that." The Skywalkers were silent for several minutes when Padme suddenly felt a headache. She groaned as it worsened and held her head in her hands.
"Mother?" Leia asked, concerned but Padme didn't hear her. Instead, she heard a voice that haunted her dreams.
"You cannot hide forever Luke."
"I will not fight you!"
"Give yourself to the dark side. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes…your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong especially for…sister. So you have a twin sister! Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete!" Padme blinked several times as the voices faded. She was silent for several seconds when she realized something. Vader mentioned Leia but he didn't mention her. She knew they were on the Death Star and she knew they were in front of the Emperor. So…why did Vader not mention Luke's obvious worry for her? Padme wasn't there and she could feel it through the Force.
"Mother? Mother, are you alright?" Leia's voice finally cut through Padme's train of thought. Padme blinked and looked at her daughter and asked,
"What happened?"
"You just blacked out!" Leia cried, "Are you alright?" Padme nodded,
"I'm fine. I just…something weird happened."
"What?"
"I heard Vader and Luke." Leia's eyes asked the unspoken question and Padme shook her head. "Luke's alive and still on the light. But…Vader knows about you." Just then, the shield generator exploded in the distance.
And there's the chapter? What'd you guys think? Thanks to tate4eva, Maleficent-darkgoodwitch2416, PadmeRulez and thegirlintheredcoat for reviewing/following/favoring along with all 11,578 readers! We're almost at the end people and I have exciting news! Maleficent-darkgoodwitch2416 is writing a sequel for this story that takes place in The Phantom Menace! And the first chapter is the ending to this story so you know what happens but it's not too big of a spoiler. I've read the first couple chapters and they're good. Be sure to check it out, it's called 'The Angel's Choice' and because of this I am calling the sequel 'The Hope's Chance'. So we're almost to the end and that means it's almost time for Luke and Leia to go back. Anyways, what do you think of this chapter? I hope you like the mother-daughter bonding and I imagine Leia would be overprotective of Padme if she was hurt just because she's physically younger. So, I hope you enjoyed and leave a review! And don't forget to check out 'The Angel's Choice' it's got a strong start and I'm excited to see how Padme, going back to her own time aware of what would happen would act. Once again thank you and I'll try to update again soon! Anakin returns next! Later.
