I'm bak! And this time, writing on my laptop. I'm going to try to finish writing a story at least cause I really really really wanna start a YJ one. AHHH!
Here goes, I'll just to finish this one cause it's the only one I finished thinking of a plot. HEH.
Thanks for all the reviews before, you guys rock!
Person: Yeah, I think they were. But hey, I wasn't planning to copy it. Those were last minute add-outs to make the story look longer. Don't judge me! D;
SelinaL: Thank you so much for your support! Here, have another chapter~
"She got away. Fled. The coward she was.
I don't blame her."
Kevin nonchalantly trashed the items that sat on her drawer furiously. He couldn't care less about what he had broken; it wouldn't mean much to himself nor her anyway since she had abandoned it. If she had care, she would have taken it along... Just like how she had abandoned him.
It was only about two weeks since he got her back and she planned to run away. She had such pride, did she just threw it all away and fled? Kevin didn't know. The first place he suspected she would go back to was her home... He wasn't quite surprise to not find her there. And, he definitely knew she wouldn't head to where the little runt was; she wouldn't risk his life... Kevin didn't had a grudge on him either (well, not yet), so why bother looking for him? All he wanted was the red-headed beauty.
But of course it didn't take long to find her. She couldn't have gotten too far away with that wounded leg of hers.
After a few rounds of criticism and rough sex, Gwen thought she had enough. She was done feeling like a tool. She was done. Though, she didn't mind when he had to leave to somewhere to do whatever he was doing, the life ain't that bad. He treated her well in a nice double-storied condominium when he wasn't around. Left her piles of food (sometimes he would force her to eat, he'd even threaten and it was scary), mountains of books, wardrobes of clothes, indoor pools, luxurious bathrooms; she didn't think it was worth it. None of it was worth it. She hated it all, she hated how she was trapped in that little house. She wanted her freedom and what was left of her dignity.
She managed to snagged some money- not much but still money-and stayed a few in a small cozy hotel. Huddling up on the bed with the comforters over her body, Gwendolyn stared pitifully at the ruined wrists. Kevin had already treated her thigh and wrist. It was only a day before she removed the band-aids from her wrist; she daren't touch the one on her thigh, Gwendolyn wasn't surprised to find ugly wounds engraved into a skin as if it was a tattoo... She thought, it was probab;y going to be permanent. Gwendolyn let out a sigh before she heard something shift beyond where she laid.
She jolted up immediately, afraid that it could be that dark-headed man. Her eyes caught nothing in sight and her heartbeat slowed, she told herself she was just being paranoid... He couldn't find her this quickly, she made sure there wasn't any tracking device on her before she left. She laid back down this time, rolling over to her side.
"Do you think it would be hard just looking for you?" a voice suddenly said. Gwen's breathing hitched it up a notch and she fell off the bed due to the man's sudden outburst. She didn't even let herself recover before scrambling to her feet, heading towards the window.
She couldn't fight him, he could have easily taken her powers away... She told herself that, but deep down she knew- she was tired.
She still tried; she was almost at the window until a strong force pulled her backwards, sending her crashing towards the bed. She wildly trashed her arms, roughly flailing at her intruder. Her eyes snapped shut and she prayed he would just leave her alone.
Boy, her dream remained a dream.
"Will you stop moving already?" complained her intruder, grabbing her arms expertly, "I won't hurt you, I promise."
Lies. Such lies, she shook her head, "Leave me alone, just... please leave me alone," she whispered, voice horsed and unattractive. She doesn't want another beating or scolding or criticising, she didn't want any more of that... monster.
When she settled down, Kevin managed to pull her into his lap, pressing her against his chest and pushing away the strands of red hair from her face. She obliged quietly but also alertly. "If you wanted to leave the house for awhile, you could have told me," he informed her quietly, suddenly amused with her red-hair.
She stayed quiet, it was the best way to not start anything.
He had her back, she ran again. He would then find her and dragged her back. Each time, Gwendolyn became smarter with her escape plans, more cunning when it comes to hiding. One time, he had to ask a few 'friends' for a little help. He had even lost count of the times she had tried to run. He was getting tired of this little game.
One day, Gwendolyn just told him she wanted to walk around town a little. "A little fresh air to clear my mind," she told him, "It couldn't hurt anybody."
Of course, he let her. If she ran away, she wouldn't have gotten away with it anyways. She had failed every time, what did it made any difference? She asked for some money and he gave her the money, he couldn't care what she did with it anyway.
What surprised Kevin was how Gwendolyn reacted when she came back; it's not that he minded or anything. Her glow returned to her, she didn't look tired anymore, she didn't look sad or depressed anymore. She came back with a jolly front and Kevin didn't bother questioning; he thought maybe letting her out more often could change her.
Gwendolyn only went out a certain day during certain weeks, she would come back with some bags and clothes and books or whatever it was she bought, Kevin didn't mind, he didn't even care what she brought back. She seemed happier each day. And to tell you the truth, he liked it. Maybe she had forgiven him.
Just maybe, he thought.
Soon after, he had to leave. He had to deal with some people that owed him and Kevin had a pet peeve with people not returning the favour. And so, he left, just like that. No goodbyes, not notes. Gwen was glad, she had access to the money he had left, and it wasn't hard packing some bags and going back home.
It was stupid, she knew, but who cared? That was where she first started taking care of Devlin, she was heading back to where she first started. She went back to Ben's, telling him how great her 'date' was with Kevin and apologised for having to take care of baby Devlin for such long months. Ben didn't mind, of course, Kenny would just have a little more company. She had told him about some parts of their 'dates' and that he had to deal with his job somewhere over a cup of tea and muffins. It was one of the first times she actually felt so at home for a long time...
She bid her goodbyes to Ben after he had dropped her off at her house and went in with Devlin in her arms. She pretended nothing had happened before ever since.
She just had to be careful with anyone catching her taking little tablets of whatever it was.
She was such it wasn't drugs, the alien-man thing had already told her that. "It kills you faster than normal human drugs," he handed her, "You can take a few to boost up the kill level but that'll cost you a little more... But it's a minimum of a few years, I can guarantee you that."
She smiled at him, paid and left. Constantly going back for more. It wasn't much of an effort, she had somehow already made friends with the guy. He respected her and didn't ask for the purpose of her purchases, she liked it that way.
Birthdays past, so did anniversaries and Christmases... It was quite slow but she didn't mind. Kevin didn't come back. She was glad.
She spent time with Devlin, all the time, until finally her legs couldn't stand. She hadn't been eating well either but, she always giving Devlin the best of everything; probably spoiling him too much... She was just doing that just to feel less guilty of what she was doing to him in future. She knew she was selfish, but she couldn't care anymore.
She was done.
The illness was painless, but all worried faces jabbed her heart like sais. She pushed all her emotions away and ignored them. Ben took her to hospitals, she had refused the first few times but when she finally just went along, she was glad the intergalactic specialist couldn't figure out what was wrong with her and only came up with believable hypothesises. She would watch Devlin took at her terrified, it hurt her but she also pushed that away..
She gave up too much for everything.
She thought of other ever, herself never. This time, that was going to change.
She knew she hadn't had much time when she finally felt her eyes getting heavier, she told Ben to get the box she had kept safe for many years. She requested if he ever saw Kevin again, he would hand this box to her. She also made him promise that he wouldn't look inside it, he obliged. She told him thanks for everything and he held her hand quietly, afraid and confused to why she was telling him all this. He assured her that she would be alright and told her to just hang in there... She knew she wouldn't.
She could still feel her heart ache yet again and wished many times that it wouldn't ache anymore, she needn't see the faces of her loved ones being hurt. She needn't feel anything anymore, she just want it to stop.
She told Ben she loved him and was glad she him as a cousin and also managed to smile one last time at Devlin. It was late and she told them she was tired... She wanted to be left alone to rest. Ben nodded hesitantly and lead the little toddler out of the room. She saw them left and shut the door,
Tears didn't filled her eyes, her heart didn't ache anymore. She couldn't, no, she didn't want to feel anything anymore. She was finally at peace.
Gwendolyn let her eyes drop, all the way. And she was sure she would never open them ever again.
I guess this was a whole flashbackthing of how Gwen was... Ah, well. Sorry this chapter wasn't kick-ass long. And sorry for not updating for a while. :c Don't kill me!
